Kadaj & Akamu
- Outlanders

When Chau took another shot at the darker lioness Kadaj stood back and held his ground firmly. This fight had started to shift as they grew in numbers by the second, and it was starting to feel like they would be victorious. His pale eyes followed Chau closely before the red lion was shoved in the side by his Firekin companion.

"What?" The lion frowned, his attention needed to stay focused.

"Kadaj, look." Akamu whispered as he used a claw to point at the disfigured lioness who had just picked off a young lion from the group. "...He looks familiar..." It took the lion a moment to put two in two together but when the reality dawned on him a snarl escaped his quivering maw. "That's Ruka's son." He wouldn't be able to ignore this, not now. Heavy paws shifted as he slowly started off in Maya's direction.

"Wait." Kadaj ordered as the Firekin started toward Maya. "Not yet, it's not the right moment." Inside he knew ignoring the assault was shameful, but for the sake of victory they needed to time this rescue perfectly. Kadaj had no idea if the brown lioness had backup heading her way, and with Chau's orders to wait for the Prince, well, he felt compelled to hold back. They would wait.

"I promise we will retrieve him, Akamu."

The large lion turned his head as intense eyes narrowed on Kadaj. "I will hold you to that promise." For the moment he would do what the older lion asked of him, for the sake of victory.

Daijur ripped the necklace off of the female that lay sprawled and broken at his feet. Like this, she was simply vulture food. Nothing extravagant. Nothing to be feared. Like his wicked mate, he knew one of their daughters would enjoy her glittering gold more than the bone pickers out in these lands. Not even the Outlander's scavengers deserved the finery this witch had clearly stolen from someone else. Perhaps she had fought for it fair and square but from what her daughter had said, she was a clever thing, used to mincing words and plying lies to earn her fortunes. It was just as well, there was no honor in a corpse anyway.

He had his jaws clamped around the pendant, letting it hang from his mandible, when Jupe passed him by and expressed her concern over their foolish son. Maybe another would have looked for him, sought him out in a crowd to assure his well being, but the great black demigod did not.

"If he thinks himself an adult, let him fight like one."

It was blunt, though not.. entirely heartless. Ku'san would prove himself - or he wouldn't. There were only two options and Daijur was apt to let him find out what happened when one did not obey one's parents. If he came out of this unscathed then perhaps they would start treating him with the respect he thought he so clearly deserved.

"Outnumbered she might be," a hiss erupted from the milling, clawing bodies nearby, "but she is mine. My blood, my heart, my life. Outlanders do not forsake their families."

The sting of disappointment was thick in Azzan's voice as he leveled two mistmatched eyes upon the female beneath his mate. Every part of him begged to release her from the duty of holding that wicked traitor down but he knew her words were true, Calypso's final breath belonged to the Prince, and he would not dishonor his mate in this. No matter their history, Kat had meant something to her that he would never quite understand.

So, instead, he turned his back on the pair of females and lowered himself into a crouch as he faced the oncoming Stormborn. He would die before they would get to his mate; he would die before Keth was robbed of his revenge.

"No," a voice answered, "it seems only ungrateful children would lead war upon their own blood and kin."

Opposite of Azzan, with an expression hardly less disgusted, was a large male; his markings were a different variety but his bulk and expression could be mistaken for nothing less than Katiti's brother. He had watched her die, stricken down by this treacherous female's machinations, and it hurt worse to know that this was a niece he had never come to know. So many years had been lost in his father's homeland. He should have been thankful to get a few days with his sister but he wasn't - he was only angry.

"And ungrateful children should all be taught a lesson."

He turned his back, too, upon the pair of females and faced the horde of angry warriors that were both Outlands and Stormborn. Jiryan did not need to protect Chau in the way that her mate felt he should but he did want to protect Calypso - at least long enough for the Prince to sink his claws into her flesh.

It was not hard to find her. Above him, Ciro swooped, crying aloud for the mistress he had lost but assuring the path of the master of this battle. He led him, closer and closer, to the flock mate that swirled overheard in the distance. Even in her death, Katiti was sealing her daughter's fate. He prowled through the crowd, thrusting his weight into those that did not move quickly enough from his path and flashing his teeth at the petulant children the Stormborn had brought to fill out their ranks. How foolish.

Within a breath of her, the Crown Prince unsheathed his wicked claws and leveled his mother's gaze down upon the dark female that was pinned beneath Azzan's mate. Chau, wasn't it? She was rogue born, formerly tarnished, and she had come out of the other side of her punishment with more respect than the yellow-bellied Soul's daughter could claim in one little traitorous eyelash.

"I hope that it was worth it," he spat, letting his words roll on a growl as he sunk lower to his belly. He was a Scion of Taka, the blood of the true king, the son of Ashiki. This girl, this wretch, was nothing. "I hope that satiating the jealousy of your mother's greatness and your selfish, wounded pride was worth the feeling of my claws as I pry your eyes from their sockets and feed them to her flock."

A clawed paw reared back and swiped, fast and hard, across her temple. He hoped that wretched girl never woke to sunlight again.

Maya
-Side of the Stormborn

Violently she trashed against her prize as the smaller lion did his best to free himself, sadly though, it was to know avail. His fate was written here in his blood she split. "I almost feel sorry for you." Maya whispered as her jaws lowered to his closest ear, speaking delicately, warm breathe moistened the nap of his pale neck. "No one is going to save you." This moment was intimate and for a split second the beastly lioness allowed her prey to believe that he would be rescued. When the larger red lion started toward the pair Maya held him down and forced him to watch as his would be rescuer turned turned back. "See? No one."

When the Price and his posy arrived Maya snarled, witnessing the attack on Calypso only seemed to fuel the fire that was building up inside her belly. Claws dug themselves deep into pale flesh as she let out a frustrated cry.

An eye for an eye.

Maya's gaze was desolate, no words were spoken as the larger female took a claw to the younger male's left eye, diving it deep into the socket until she felt a crunch against her claw. For a moment the seer basked in his cries of pain, shifting her attention only when a familiar voice called out.

"....What?" Frantic eyes searched her surroundings, no one here knew her name beside Calypso, so who could have... wait. In the distance a familiar figure stood, a degenerate she once battled on the border of the Storm. Why was he calling her now? Was this darker lion a friend or a foe?

In this moment she had half-blinded her prey and stood over him proudly, distracted by a familiar face.

That damnable raven acted like a beacon, drawing the Outlanders to her. In a perfect world, all of this would have gone down differently, but she would not run away from the path she had chosen. Her mother was dead, and she had finally found peace. If that peace lasted only a few minutes, then it was worth it. Even with the adrenaline pumping through her veins, she had never felt more centered. "Maya!" Calypso had wanted to call the lioness back to her side, but the battle had overwhelmed her friend just as it had with all of them.

Their calling was to fight, and so fight she would against all of the odds. She was used to an uphill battle. Calypso roared as three males came charging towards her. Claws sliced at her flesh, and the heavy hit of paws were enough to send her stumbling backwards. Desperately, she backed up a few more paces to put some space between them, to get her bearings and make some sort of counterattack.

Maya's attack on the pale youth helped more than Calypso would know. The Stormborn would not bat an eye at the mauling of a youth. He had entered the battle willingly, and he would die for his decisions. The Outlanders were not nearly as hardened by sea and wind, and doubtless many would turn to aid the injured adolescent. Calypso could not tell what was happening there, as she clearly had far more problems to handle on her own.

There were five of them now, all ready to murder her for her 'crimes'. Did they not know the justice she had searched for in the death of Katiti'manina? All the years she had spent tormented by her mother, used by her. Ashiki's death, because surely the b***h would die, was a happy accident. The Queen deserved to die for enabling her Soul.

"Oh, ********, then don't tell me your ******** name!" Calypso hissed. Outlanders always had a love for word play. Titles and honor, bonds of blood, ect... Calypso had long ago abandoned those ideals for something that favored her more.

It was Chau who launched towards her again, and Calypso knew the others would not be far behind. This was likely where she died, but if that was the case, then she would embrace it. Chau's jaw clamped around her neck, cutting off her air supply. The dark lioness gritted her teeth together, and wrapped her paws around Chau's neck in a dangerous embrace, claws burrowing into her flesh, clawing at whatever she could grab.

She couldn't breathe, and she had to get this lioness off of her! What words were spoken were lost to the black and gold lioness as she struggled to fend off Chausika. Calypso was dragged down onto the ground, falling heavily into the dirt. There she was held for what seemed like eternity, and at some point Chausika's hold on her weakened enough to allow air to fill her lungs again.

A final breath before the Crown Prince finished her.

Hard red eyes stared up, locking with the eyes of the Queen. Ah. Children, always a slave to their parents. His eyes, his mind, and his heart, were surely Ashiki's just as Calypso's had belonged to Katiti'manina. She smiled, blood dripping from her maw, staining her yellow teeth. "It was," she gasped, her raspy voice barely reaching Kethiwe's ears, "I have saved you all."

Her world went dark, but in that darkness her mind searched for the peace it had been yearning for all of her adult life.

Congratulations, Outlanders! The call for vengeance for your Queen and your Soul has been answered.

Your Prince has thrown himself into the thick of battle, and his safety is at risk. He has pushed into the Stormborn's forces with his guards, Azzan and Jiryan, and those who have aided him in taking down Calypso. For the Stormborn, this is the perfect chance to finish a fight that has been nearly stalemated.

To get to Kethiwe, you must first take down his guards.

Azzan
HP: 10
Dice Roll: 1, 4 sided dice

Jiryan
HP: 10
Dice Roll: 1, 4 sided dice

Only once both Azzan and Jiryan have been bested may you roll an attack on Kethiwe.

Kethiwe
HP: 25
Dice Roll: 1, 4 sided dice

Furthermore, I will be rolling from those who attacked Calypso to award the title: The Queen's Vengeance

Kaoru's ears stuck to his skull as the vile female began to speak. "I don't need your pity," the male found himself growling, snapping his jowls at the lioness. It was difficult to maneuver in this position however, and the adolescent found himself struggling to get the upper hand.

His eyes shifted at her words, glancing at the series of male outlanders staying back, as the crowned prince aimed for his target. He couldn't help but frown, and try not to let the words sink further than the skin. It was difficult, knowing his life was now in the paws of a sadistic female.

His vision soon went to red, then black as a roar of pain left his maw. What he had thought before was incorrect. This was intense. More intense than he had ever felt before. Although his sight in his right eye was still good, he found his vision blurry, as Maya's claw was removed from his face at an unknown shout.

He couldn't doddle.

The adolescent squirmed underneath Maya, trying to find a way out while she was distracted. He couldn't take this anymore. He wasn't ready to die yet.

He wanted to tell the foreign male that he was not an idiot, but Hikaru knew he shouldn't keep allowing himself to be baited into childish insults. The battle moved around them, the world seemingly as oblivious to them as they were to it. If Hikaru knew his brother was on the battlefield as well, he would have been mortified. If both of them fell here, who would take care of their mother? There would have been even more strife in the young male's heart if he knew that his father was here.

The question had occured to him a few times during his life. Surely he had a father somewhere, but not here. Not where his mother lived.

Without knowledge of his brother and father being on the same battlefield, he could focus on the abrasive teen facing him. The two males met in a battle of strength, one where Hikaru was surprisingly well-matched against the larger male. Hikaru had been training, and his own abilities surprised him. He had thought all the drills and tactics had been dull and mind-numbing, but all that repetitive instruction served him well.

They fell to the ground, Hikaru landing hard on his back. Before he could gather his wits, he was struck across the face. A growl settled deep in his throat, and he used his hind legs to kick Kus'an off of him. While the other boy was unfamiliar with the terrain, Hikaru had grew up in the Outlands. The lands had been ravaged by earthquakes and more recently, a meteorite. As he righted himself and shifted his feet over the ground, he felt the land shift with him.

"s**t," he hissed. He had to get out of here now. "Don't you dare come at me!" Maybe if he was better at explaining, the boys would have avoided what fate had in store for them.

Instead Hikaru froze, as stiff as a board, hackles raised to ward off Kus'an but his body unwilling to move on such shaky terrain.

He wasn't going to make it in time.

Chungu slowed as lions swarmed around Calypso, forced to detour around or push through friend and foe alike. He hissed as she fell, as their birth pride took their revenge in blood. Damn them all! From where he struggled, he couldn't tell if his sister yet lived--but he wasn't going to leave her body to these bastards whether it had breath in it or not. If he were the sort to put much stock in family, she'd be the closest thing to one he had.

Ugh.

Taking advantage of everyone else's preoccupation with trying to kill each other, he shoved past another lion and put on a burst of speed. He didn't bother to look over her wounds--it was a waste of time, he wasn't a healer and he wasn't about to pretend to be one now. If he took too long with this, he'd just get them both killed. Absolutely nothing to do with not wanting to really see how bad her wounds were. Instead he just wriggled his head underneath her prone form, getting her to flop across his shoulders and back in a way that he could unsteadily lift her. It wasn't any kind of graceful, but it allowed him to slowly--too slowly--begin moving her toward the edges of the battle. He stuck near other Stormborn, but that wasn't a guarantee he'd succeed.

Damn, she was heavy. He really wasn't cut out for this heroics bullshit.

Terpsichore watched with an angry gaze as Calypso was surrounded on all sides, clawed at, bit at, and then finally pinned to the ground like a mutt. Good. In the raven's opinion, she deserved every bit of it.

It was as Kethiwe made his way closer that she finally stopped cawing. Her throat was becoming raw from it too, though she hardly cared about that at the moment.

As the death occurred below her, she felt... not at peace, certainly not... but contentment. These intruders all needed to pay, but at least the worst offender of them had fallen to her grave. She was too high up to hear any of what the slimy lioness had said, but to be honest, she would have just clawed her mouth off if she had, so perhaps it was for the best.

Instead, Terpsi's mind wandered as she drifted up higher, scrambled thoughts bouncing around and making it difficult to focus on only one thing. Already, she was trying not to think about Katiti's death. If she didn't look that way, she could almost pretend that she was still fighting among the lions below.

Then her thoughts seemed to freeze as she caught movement from the black and gold form under her. What....? She'd watched Kethiwe deal the killing blow!

That was when she finally focused on Calypso's body -- and the lion attempting to drag her away. Terpsichore's eyes widened, before fury engulfed her. How dare one of these heathens try to make off with the body! The spoils, dirty as they were, belonged to the Outlanders... and to be frank, she'd be damned if she allowed the b***h any sort of dignity in death.

Without much thought on what she was doing, the raven made a straight dive downwards before winding her way past snarling lions and throwing a vicious swipe of her clawed feet at the lion's head. It was only a passing attack -- she'd quickly flapped her way back up even as she struck at him -- but she still felt pleasure in at least taking some of the fur on his head out in the process.

And if she was lucky, someone would have noticed her swooping down on him.

It was with cruel satisfaction that Ajani felt his claws make purchase on the Stormborn's face. He slowly smeared the blood and fluid from the attack onto the floor, curling his lip just a bit at the feel of it, but his gaze remained focused on his now downed opponent. The wound he'd inflicted was bad, but Ajani found no pleasure in it. No, these enemies wouldn't be walking away alive if he had any say in it. So with a low growl, he started to advance on Hjalmar.

What he wasn't expecting was for another lion to step in then though, or rather, to come barreling into him.

With a grunt, the Outlander stumbled back a few steps before whipping his head around to look at the equally dark-pelted lion that was now challenging him. He hadn't been expecting someone to intervene, though he probably should have.

With a sneer, he snarled back, "And you think you'll do better?" And, noticing Ciro's distraction, he charged forward and swung his paw around to swipe at his head.

Well, she'd expected to deal a wound more vicious than that, but Shetani supposed that the claw marks across the girl's face would be enough. At the very least, she succeeded in making her let go, and the lioness stepped back a step to watch as she reunited with her friend. Relative? Lover? Perhaps, though she cared little for how they were related.

Instead, she raised an eyebrow as a newcomer entered the scene, not even noticing the blood still dripping from the bite. She was used to feeling wounds like this -- they were expected in a pride that dueled constantly.

The Mind chuckled then in response, "And you mean to say that your kind don't, or will you ignore these youths' theatrics from a few minutes ago?" She let out a single, belted laugh then, clearly more amused than mad at the lioness' words, "I suppose you will have to see for yourself if I'm truly 'compensating' as you suggest."

Her tail flicked as she readjusted herself into more of an attacking stance. The two adolescences hadn't been viewed as a threat to her, but this one.... this one presented a challenge, at least verbally if not also physically, and she was looking forward to fighting something more interesting than a couple of whelps.

The pain was immense, easily the worst thing he'd ever felt. It made his ears ring in a way he'd never heard before, the sounds of battle toned out in the process, and for a moment, he found that he could do nothing but lay there and try to process what had happened.

It was adrenaline that finally made him struggle back to life. He couldn't lay here like this. That was a recipe for death.

He swiped shakily at his face, trying to rid of the blood so he could focus, and roaring in pain as he accidentally touched the wound on his face. On the plus side though, he'd managed to remove the blood from his left eye. Looking blearily back at Ajani, he was surprised to note that there was another lion there. A captain, he barely managed to recall. He'd never been in any of his band's, but the lion was well-known enough that he'd been pointed out to him in passing before.

Whatever, he was providing a distraction and that was all Hjalmar cared about right now. Running was cowardly in his books... but he'd never encountered a situation where he should run if he wanted to survive.

Ears pulled back, the Reaver limped backwards, his stomach still aching as if knives were being pulled across it, until he could slink away into the crowd. He was, thankfully, still close to where the majority of his band stood, and so he chose this moment to hide among them.

He wasn't willing to leave the battlefield entirely quite yet... but he also didn't want to be anywhere near one of their enemies right now.

Kadaj & Akamu
-Outlanders

At the sight of the pale youth's mutilation Akamu snarled and turned his head to Kadaj sharply, yelling in anger. "We have to move NOW!" Nothing would stop him from saving Ruka's son, the Prince was here and had finished off the dark lioness himself, with his guard in toe they weren't needed here. If Kasaj didn't act now Akamu's resentment would only grow.

"Alright." A deep frown crossed Kadaj's tired face as the Claw found himself regretting the decision to wait, this boy lost an eye and would continue to lose body parts until they stepped in, that was becoming increasingly clear. No longer would he wait in the shadows, his brother and the Price had arrived so Chau would be with family. They had the numbers.

It was time to act.

Quickly Kadaj lunged forward, passing Calypso's fallen figure as the large lion readied himself for a strike, reaching Maya as her attention was settled on something in the distance. His massive paws unsheathed and found Maya's flesh, digging into her without hesitation. The Outlander twisted himself to force all of his weight on top of the smaller female, sending the lioness crashing to the ground roughly, her grip on the adolescent now severed completely. Now was Akamu's chance to get the kid off of the battlefield.

"Take him!" Kadaj ordered as his blue eyes met Maya's wild stare, snarling violently as the two began to claw at one another with as Kadaj did his best to keep the slithering female beneath him.

At Kadaj's command Akamu plunged toward the adolescent, pulling him away from Maya with one long reach. Sharp claws dug into the back of his neck as the Firekin quickly brought the youth to his feet, speaking between heaving panting. "Come on, stay close to me, I've got you." This boy's sight must have been suffering,so Akamu did his best to stay shoulder to shoulder as they both quickly headed in the direction of the Prince and his company.

"I'm getting him out of here!" The Firekin bellowed as the pair neared Kadaj's brother, making sure they all knew he would be temporarily withdrawing himself from the battlefield. The red lion would escort this boy to safety before returning to Kadaj's side.

Daijur was right, though he would have to try much harder to pry the words from Jupe's lips. The time to be worried over her children had passed, they were all growing towards adulthood and no longer needed her to coddle them (though how Jupe raised them was the farthest from coddling as imaginable).

She said nothing as the two girls left their position on the battlefield. It would be easier for her to fight without them getting in the way, especially when they had already gotten themselves foolishly injured. Jupe knew that they had followed her son out here, and that was their decision to make. But, by the Stormlords, it was a stupid ******** decision. They were nowhere near the size of an adult lion, and had none of the needed experience to hold their own on a battlefield. They would just be casualties, and Jupe would not explain to some grieving mother how she let her children die.

With the brats gone, her attention shifted back to Shetani, who had waited so patiently for the adolescents to leave... only to run her mouth some more. The hypocrisy would have made her vomit on even her best of days. For once, Jupe took a page out of Daijur's book and remained silent. Her mouth pressed down into a hard line, blue eyes focused on the dark lioness in front of her. Some injuries had been dealt to the Mind, but not enough to truly impair her in a fight... at least not initially. Even small injuries could wear one down over time.

Jupe did not bother to glance back to her mate, knowing that by now he would have moved on towards another fight. She did not need him here to take care of this one. Her advance was calculated, and she would attack first. It was not in her nature to be on the defensive. She was the rogue, attacking an opponents weak points and taking advantage of any opening she could find. When she fought, it was to the death - there was no point in leaving any of the fighters alive. They would make terrible thralls.

With a burst of energy, Jupe launched herself forward, and for all intents and purposes seemed to be aiming for a head on collision with Shetani. However, her stance quickly changed ,and she darted to the side. A test of reflexes. Her claws lashed out towards Shetani's flank, intending to chip away at her strength and stamina.

Ciro felt relief when the scarred female stopped her retaliation on what appeared to be a perfect mini-me of Ruka. He could put two and two together, and assume the male that appeared similar in age of Koharu and Haruhi, could in fact be his son, however, he was brought back to the current reality when he was struck in the face.

A snarl rang out as Ciro's eyes narrowed, focusing back on the Outlander male.

"I do." He said simply, a smirk on his features. His face held claw marks beginning to bead with blood. Soon, they would mix with the red dirt of the land. "If a claw swipe is all you have to offer, I guess I will be sadly disappointed." Ciro's tone was bored, as he tried to taunt the other male. He always loved waiting to see what they would do, or how they would react.

Ajani taking the first swing at him when he was distracted proved his character to the Captain. He grunted, deciding to take the offense.

Ciro lunged at the male aiming for his shoulder. He would occasionally steal a glance towards the mauled adolescent, seeing another male drag him from battle field. He didn't appear to be born of the storm, so perhaps, the adolescent would now be safe.
