Round 1 - Day 2 - Roll 2: General Grid Blue Strigonth: 11/12 hp Held saves: 0
Quote: 5. It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!
A strand of thread shimmered suddenly into sight, having slipped through the web of dragons above. Strigonth's narrow blue head snapped to fixate, eyes twirling pink with anger at the sight of The Enemy, as if it was taunting him for their past slip up. At the same time, the bass tones of Illiandinth's compliment rippled in his mind, tinging the red with blue to purple—but only for a moment. He was always pleased to have the beastly bronze's eye, to hear those purring, yearning, drawing sounds.
But looking good was only part of the picture. He had to be able to perform. And perform the blue did. In the time it'd taken him to send the thought of an amused chuff of laughter back to the bronze, D'mar had also spotted the strand, bent low, and off the pair went. As if magnetized to the thread, they slid noiselessly forward through the air, a sharp, quick burst of flame lashing forth with just enough duration to ensure proper char, but just brief enough to conserve stone. With the subtlest of twists they slid gracefully back into position as the cloud of ash was left to dissipate harmlessly.
That was how it was done.

Round one roll four day two Blue Micheth Hp: 7/12 Saves: 0
Micheth dodged a clump of thread, weaving to the left. There was a clump too close to one of his clutchmates and he flamed. Try to be more careful! he advised.
Quote: 4.There's a lot more Thread in the higher altitude wings! If you're a white, green, or blue, your smaller size is your advantage. You are able to avoid getting struck by Thread, weaving out of the way, and even manage to flame down a clump that's dangerously close to the rider pair. Good job! They'll remember you, for sure. If you're a brown or bronze, you aren't able to get out of the way, causing the rider pair to try to save you! They take care of the worst of it, but you wind up with an ashburn, as you forgot to keep into account the direction of the wind. -3 HP!

Round one roll five day two Blue Micheth Hp: 6/12 Saves: 0
Micheth swooped down towards a clump of Thread, preparing to flame. Jailla felt jarred and tossed into the air—weightless for a moment. Fear gripped her heart, and she swallowed hard, mentally preparing herself. She was going to fall. To be eaten by Thread or fall to her death.
Don’t be so dramatic, Mine. Micheth chastised her, swooping up to rejoin formation.
Ouch! She was forced back into her seat. She quickly tightened her leg strap, trembling.
See. You’re safe.
Quote: 2. Your dragon swoops down to flame a writhing silvery Thread, but your riding straps are just a little bit loose. The sudden fear of feeling yourself lift just a bit higher in the straps than you like is terrifying as you fear you might slide off. Furthermore, when your dragon swoops back up to return to formation, you're forcefully returned to your seat! You're able to tighten the leg strap with shaky hands, and were never at risk of actually falling off, but it's not an experience you want to feel again. Your tailbone is going to object for a few days. -1 HP Rider Damage.

Shardit!! In an attempt to repeat their earlier graceful maneuver, D'mar felt once more his straps slip, and a moment later as Strigonth reacted to his thrill of worry and rose, the sharp crack to his rump and hips as he refound his seat with more force than anyone could ever prefer. Silent curses roiled from man to dragon, as well as a firm dedication to toss the straps, and commission the best leathers to make the next set. This was shaffing undignified, even if no one but the two of them would be aware of the gaffe.

Round 1 - Day 2 - BONUS ROLL: Wingsecond Grid Blue Strigonth: 10/12 hp Held saves: 1
Quote: 2. You thought things were going well. You're here, you've been drilling for this, and you know what you're supposed to do. With your fellow weyrling flying behind you, and the Weyrlingmaster just ahead, you know that this is your time to shine. Unfortunately, maybe it's just a bit too much pressure. Suddenly, it all becomes real. One bad call, and it's on you. One moments hesitation and it's on your head! You must make a split decision -- your two neighboring weyrlings are coming right into catastrophe with Thread. You cry out, but your dragon can literally only save one! Who do you save? Quote a weyrling and have them take -4HP that can't be saved from! Quote a different weyrling and save them from their damage for a roll.
Their shift in the sky was drawing to a close...but it was not to be without one more test of the weyrling pair. The relative calm confidence they wore like second skins, in an odd moment of intrusive thoughts, was pulled back. If something went wrong...Faranth, the injury of his peers, of Strigonths' siblings, possibly even their deaths, would be on his hands as much as it was due to thread. D'mar could hear his breath against the fwoosh of dragon fire and the beat of wings. His pulse was throbbing in his ears. They were all following him, trusting him, relying on him...! He twisted in his seat to stare back at the fan of weyrlings behind him, and as if fate had deigned to turn his brief panic's thought to reality, he saw it.
A thin but web-like tangle of thread had slipped through, the remnants of some upper level dragon's not-quite-perfect aim. The filaments were nearly see-through, they were so thin, but a chance glance of the light from this angle revealed them in a way that those flying behind would surely miss. And there, right in the mass' path, two of his wingmates!
For one terrible moment the pair hung suspended in indecision. But no. No. They were better than this, better than allowing all of this to go wrong. This was their moment, and they would rip it from fate with their own claws! Thread falls! Beware!! they cried out together, willing both dragons out of danger, and then with a shrill cry, Strigonth turned on a wingtip, angling towards one of the two riders trailing him and unleashing a burst of flame to turn the thread to harmless char. The arc was too short to sear it all—any longer would result in both those behind him being caught in the scorching flames—but it was something. They would NOT let both be hurt. And hopefully Aleyath would be able to twist out of the way in time...

Round 1 - Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid Bronze Vedmath: 15/16 HP Held saves: 1
Quote: 6. As you're flying, you notice one of your wingmates in trouble! You call out to them, to try to warn them, and hopefully avoid witnessing a catastrophe. Save! Remove all damage from a single roll for this Round!
The pair thought nothing of following the signal given by Strigonth's; while there were many levels on which Vedmath did not trust the blue, he did trust him to relay orders properly, for their blooding at the very least. So, knowing that the call was made by Liat and Orioth and only happened to be passing through Strigonth, they of course did as they were meant to - a decision they might have regretted when the wind changed, had Brancath not called out.
The bronze didn't hesitate to take exactly the action his clutchmate dictated. There were certain points - namely a green one - on which they would never agree, but he trusted that she was looking out for him. They were wingmates, after all. He rolled to the left, ducking out of the way just in time to avoid a scoring.
