She was REALLY feeling in over her head! She squared her shoulders, though, as the monstrous beast surfaced again, sweeping around them. With a sound of rage, she jumped at it, sinking her claws into the frontmost fin. And then she regretted her decision right away.
Bellowing in rage at the hits landed, the beast swung around again, trying to loosen the lioness on its back. Twisting this way and that, it breached the sand enough to slam sideways into it, sending her tumbling. There was a brief moment where it thrashed, trying to right itself, and wound up throwing several long-buried and rather old-looking bones into the air. With an arch, one landed square on the beast's side, causing it to bellow in rage again.

((The ORP has lost momentum, this possibility was alluded to earlier in case it became necessary. Amaka is the goddess of Evolution in disguise and has been leading the bird clan for years now. And yes, I am godmoding but that's the point ;3))
Circling above the group of hunters and their enormous prey was an annoyed looking hawk, though her expression was indecipherable from the distance. Watching the Firekin below try to get their claws into such a beat was frustrating, in part because she had hoped that they would succeed and in part because she knew it wasn't a fair fight. Recently reunited with her daughter and asked for help by the starry-eyed Regent, she was reluctant to get even more involved but dammit.. this was her pride now.
With a scream, the hawk swooped down from the sky, growing exponentially as she approached the ground until she was an impossibly large bird and well equipped to handle the trouble-making fiend. Catching him by surprise, she had a clear shot to sink her talons in and pull him from the sand. In the ensuing fight, blood was shed on both sides but Amaka maintained the advantage with her sharp claws and access to the sky around her.
Not satisfied to do all the work for her Firekin friends or let the beast get a proper bite out of her, she backed off when the strange sand shark was worn down but still nice and mad. Instead of flying back up to watch, she stayed rather low and flew off, shrinking back to her usual size along the way and fighting the urge to resume her true form and properly catch her breath. It had been a long time since she had a fight, and though she was more than a match for the other deity, the magic surrounding him had a more sinister feel to it, even if she felt none direct at her.
She had done enough. They could finish this.

The massive shark monster shrieked, thrashing as it fought the giant bird. When it was finally left be, the shark shuddered, then snarled as it was attacked by three of the present lions. It was then that it started to glow, though if one asked the bird, it was probably more for effect than anything. It gave more thrashes, trying to get back into the sand. With a final thrash of the tail, the beast dove in and was gone, leaving a trail of sand waves and collapsed dunes as it headed for the border. It was not about to come back into the desert.
While Menkar, Zala, and Kuchoma had attacked, Citlali backed up, eyes wide. "I am NOT tangling with a giant bird..." She looked at where the bird had gone, circling about, then where the shark had escaped from. She took a deep breath, shuddering a moment. "Should we call this trip done? Because that thing's leaving, but I don't think the gemsbok are coming back any time soon and what the hell was that about and where did it even come from..?!" She suddenly wished she had her own bird companion with her.
