Day 051 – Firefly ( Completed Mar 16th )
A variety of deep blues and purples gradated to the oranges that filled the horizon. It left the tree line a black silhouette as the light source sank in the distance. A warm breeze blew across the tree tops. Crickets sang from the garden’s edge. And there was a soft glow filling the air from the abundancy of fireflies flittering from here to there.
It was a beautiful and calming sight. It was one of the small pleasures in life that Elza looked forward to during the summers. She heard laughter from down the hill. It sounded like some of the lower town’s children decided to chase the bioluminescent insects.
A flash of light zipped past her face and then off to the left. Elza reached out and spread her fingers wide, placing her palm in the path of the insect. It landed. She slowly brought her hand closer to her face and watched as the insect occasionally flashed a bright yellow and felt it crawl to the tip of her ring finger. After a few more flashes, it opened its wings and flew off.

Day 052 - Solitude ( Completed April 9th )
It was cold. It was dark. The curtains had been drawn, preventing any light from filtering into the cottage. How many days had it been? The chill of winter had been far worse than normal. Sullivan had been sent south to the farm where he was raised. There were other horses to keep him company. Perhaps he’d remember one or two of them. At least Elza’s mother planned to visit and reassure him that he’d return home once spring set in. Conner and Matilda followed him. This winter was too much for them. According to a letter, they decided to nest in the rafters of the barn among a bale of hay. Thankfully, the farm owners didn’t mind their company. They occasionally opened their sun room doors and called for the crows, who would swoop into the small room to enjoy some nuts and warmth. The lady of the house enjoyed watching them and noting how intelligent they were.
As Sullivan, Conner, and Matilda spent the cold days in company and warmth, Elza stayed in her cottage. In her solitude she kept busy. She cleaned and organized to prepare for the next year. She sat for hours at a time to infuse magic into crystals to restock her supplies. Once she felt drained, she’d rest for several days to build up her magic. It would be another week before she could begin crafting elixirs and potions again. In the meantime, she crocheted near the crackling fire in the den. The blanket she was creating had grown large and one end of it had caught on the corner of the couch. She pulled on it and immediately apologized, expecting to hear a squawk from Conner. When silence continued to fill the room, Elza felt a twinge of sadness. She was alone. The crows had appeared one day and made her home their home and it was only after they were gone that she realized how nice it was to have their company, no matter how grouchy or mischievous Conner could get.
Elza sighed, set the blanket to the side, and planned on her next actions. She walked over to a desk and pulled out some parchment and a quill. The red head began writing a letter to her mother about finding a coach and travelling south to visit family. She could just as easily finish her projects amongst company as her home was ready for the next year. It was time to end the solitude.

Day 053 - Spirit Challenge, Part 1: Dress-Up
Click images for Full Size please!!!!!
Elza mostly wears light and flowy fabric for every day wear or going out. She does enjoy some pizzazz, such as ruffles, cabling, cords, buttons, etc. She does have an assortment of baggy and easy to destroy clothing as she does a lot of gardening and potions making. The number of aprons this women owns is ridiculous. She has a back for a back up and each type of apron has a specific purpose, such as cooking, potions making, gardening, painting, etc. She enjoys most colors except orange. If you want a setting, think magic, fantasy, and early industrial.
I hope this is enough information for people to go off of. Have fun
Just realized that I forgot her crystal and ring. Guess I'll add that at a later date, so don't worry about that.

Day 58 - Moon( Completed April 9th )It was midsummer, and the sound of crickets filled the air as the sun dipped below the horizon. An array of oranges and purples crossed the sky creating a wondrous sight, but the twin moons rising across the opposite horizon stole the attention of any onlookers. The horizon cast an intriguing pale yellow on their surfaces compared to their brilliant white when they hung high in the sky. The smaller of the two moons soon sat higher in the sky. Its path was closer to the planet, so it completed a full orbit in a shorter amount of time than the larger one. Within an hour it had already distanced itself from its sibling. However, the sight was still breath taking, as it was the first time in nearly a year that both moons not only shared a phase, but they were both a full moon, illuminating the countryside and the night sky.

Day 59 - The North Pole (& unintentionally winter)
There’s something I heard some time ago and I wanted to look it up when I saw today’s theme. Apparently, the record high in the north pole was 55 F, and the record high in the south pole was 9.9 F. Yay! Knowledge! So, here’s an information filled haiku!
The North Pole
Summer average, thirty-two, and in winter, negative forty.
