The anxious sigh of Ada did not go unnoticed before her reply about the relative distance of the army. Her stern exterior seems to fade for what might only be the briefest of moments as she spoke to Hachiro. Her expression of sympathy ran a tingling sense of emotion through his callused face, breaking his solem look once more. " Thank you....and yes. Her name is Emiko." He looked down at his open palm, recalling his actions of past. His eyes shifted over to the red haired female. " She shouldn't have been here... she must have run away from Father like I did and come looking for me... if I hadn't left... he cut himself off. No need to finish that sentence. It wouldn't change what happened. Hachiro knew blaming himself wouldn't solve it. The blame for her death was on the army marching above them and anyone else who allowed such atrocities to go unchecked.
__ Ada was visibly perplexed when Hachiro tried to make sense of Emiko's situation. For a moment, she had assumed he was raised her in Seizan or something. Then again, he didn't seem nearly as upset about the village as his sister. If this had been his hometown then it surely would have been even more difficult to calm him due to so many other ties being severed by the monsters marching on the surface still a ways away. Honestly, she wasn't sure if she should pry about his family's circumstances given the situation, but the worst that could happen was him saying he didn't want to talk about it... right? "Pardon my asking, but... is your family... abusive? Would that be why you and your sister would try so desperately to get away?" Honestly, she felt like it had to be an incredible circumstance if even one as young as that girl would leave home to wander foreign lands without even an escort. Ada quickly added, "Of course, if this is uncomfortable then I'll leave the subject at that. I'm sorry..." Hachiro forcefully laughed in a soft tone as Ada asked about his family's circumstances.His eyes shifted toward her folded form as her body language told Hachiro of her uncertainty with the situation. " My father, the Lord of the Moon Country...was very demanding." Hachiro's grip on his sword that was planted between his legs as he sat cross legged on the ground near Ada. A painful sigh escaped as Hachiro began his tale. "He was to be addressed as 'My Lord' at all times, even in privacy. We were never to approach him without our attendants and his consent. Emiko and I were his only two natural born children... the other seven were....well...were not bore by my mother. Bastards you may call them? Either way. They were my father's pawns before they were his kin." He paused, allowing Ada to absorb the progloge of the story, knowing things would become deep and questions would be risen.
" One of my siblings, Daigoro was unlike the rest. He did not take to father's teaching, nor his command. The enslaved peoples of our country, the Kaguya clan were dehumanized by everyone but Daigoro." He reached into his lapel, pulling a leather satchel and opening it to reveal a faded photograph. Pictured was Daigoro, a tall man adorned in a red half coat and light armor and his eyes as cold as steel. Yet his smile seemed warming, inviting even. As though his soul had been made for a much more harsh purpose than he was capable of fulfilling. Off center behind Daigoro was a small blonde boy, the same age as Hachiro by his looks with bright blue eyes and rather ratty clothing. Beside Daigoro was Hachiro as a young child of no more than ten with a swaddled infant, Emiko. Barely noticeable " My brother...befriended the small blonde boy in this picture. When father found out, he ordered Daigoro to kill the boy to remind everyone that the royal family did not belong beside the lower class filth." Hachiro shook his head, clenching his sheath tighter still, releasing an audible creaking noise.
" Daigoro died to save him in a battle against my father and his other siblings who obeyed without question. That blonde child, Taylor. He escaped to the mainland because of my brother's humanity. I ran away to find the boy my brother befriended and ensure he was alive. When I got to the mainland, I realized how large the world really is and never was able to locate him. I simply settled in the cloud village. I thought that some day I would return and pluck Emiko from my father's clutches before he got her claws into her..."
He paused again. More to give himself a breather. He had never told anyone outside the chief any part of his tale, let alone its entirety. He scanned Ada's expression for a glimpse of response or reaction. It was a giant story to take in. Hard to believe it was true...which is why Hachiro left out the particulars of his elder 'siblings' birth and lineage. " Sorry. I know that was a lot to take in. It's bothersome to tell at least. I never imagined my selfish act of hiding would kill her..."
__ Ada was surprised toward the first part of the story. Moreso because of a sense of empathy rather than the context itself. Nobility was never easy to live around, especially not when your guardians or parents treat you like less than human. In Ada's case, she was merely a tool. Hachiro's family dynamic was tragic in itself. She would carefully commit the picture of the brother named Daigoro as well as the others in the photo. The story of the man's unwavering honor and the ultimate sacrifice made it clear that this part of Hachiro's family was very very dear to his heart. Ada was clearly very interested in the story thus far, but had to mindfully keep one eye closed to pay attention to the enemy's approach.
'Life outside of the palace sure is humbling, that is for certain...' She thought in agreement to Hachiro's mention of the world being so large that finding one specific person without any clues was nearly impossible beyond a fated encounter. Returning attention to Emiko's place in this story returned a solemn expression on Ada's face. However, the last part said really bothered her. Sure, the story itself was rather elaborate and somewhat incredible, but there were shreds of truth for later reference if it really had to be investigated. No good liar would leave such things to chance. "Hachiro..." Her tone became somewhat scolding in that moment.
She had even dropped her usual habit of referring to others by their surname, "You cannot blame yourself for Himiko's loss. I know your grief is not only fresh but also deep, but you must always remember that blame should only be directed upon those deserving. These people we'll soon fight, and perhaps even the rest of your family are at least much more worthy of that blame." Without realizing, Ada had leaned in toward him to make him aware that she wouldn't tolerate such half-hearted regrets. From here on, especially now while the loss was so recent, it was important that he determine his path going forward. Ada soon realized her invasion of Hachiro's personal space and started to lean back again, adjusting her legs to have her knees laid off to her side. "Sorry..." She turned her head to the side, letting her hair fall forward past her shoulder to hide the slight blushing forming on her cheeks. 'He's a bit of a brute, but not without his reasons. As Hachiro told his tale, he could not help but see Ada becoming enveloped in his words. Her slender and well endowed form that leaned forward. He had learned nothing more from his homeland than to keep his eyes above the chest, a well practiced form of training that would keep the young man from ruining whatever dramatic moment was forming. His steel grey eyes stayed steadily focused on Ada's own grey tones. His face began to feel hot, still unaware of the pink tinge that had come to his cheeks and the molten red appearance of his ears. "Ada..." He said in a hushed tone as she was nearly nose to nose with the young Prince. She turned away as soon as the moment seemed to escalate. Hachiro's heart which had been pounding firmly in his chest skipped a beat as the tension reached its climax and then began its escalation.
Hachiro would have normally let such a moment pass without second thought, continuing on his path. But Miss Rio-Kyuri's words seemed to be nearly empathetic more than sympathetic. The tone in her voice had resonated with Hachiro in some degree he had not expected. As Ada turned and apologized for her enthusiasm, Hachiro would steal her right hand from her, holding it in both. "Do not apologize..." His eyes once again locked directly upon hers with a serious expression and a tinge of softness for the first time in a while. " Your words are taken to heart. Once we win today, seeking justice comes next.Thank you." Softly opening his own hands, allowing Ada to retract her own if she desired he spoke again. " Thank you for keeping me grounded..." His eyes now shifted off to the right. Admitting he had been out of control was something he wasn't exactly ready to admit, but then again he would never apologize. He was too proud. Thanking her for acting as his anchor was probably the closest thing that would be mustered.
__ Ada was rather taken aback when Hachiro suddenly grabbed her hand and thanked her, twice. "D-don't mention it..." She mumbled while slowly retracting her hand again. The touch somehow implied more than simple appreciation, lingering on the surface of her skin like a gentle throb. Then again, that could be just been her excited pulse. The prideful young prince was now the one awkwardly avoiding eye contact, which caused a small smile of strange relief to form across her lips.
After a few moments of silence Ada would muster the courage to share about herself too. It wasn't fair to Hachiro that he be the only one to share his difficult past. "It's not easy living as nobility, is it? Sure, there are some privileges... but much more responsibilities and expectations." It was an empathetic transition, and she hoped that she'd understood Hachiro's story well enough for him to relate. "I... I was adopted into the Rio household at a young age. Since I wasn't born as a noble my siblings and several of my indirect relatives were excessively critical about my presence. As such, I was not only required but also determined to prove my worth to them. That didn't make the threats of throwing me to the streets to fend for myself become any less frequent." Ada adjusted her sitting posture to bring her knees back to her chest again, partially hiding her fface behind them. It was a habit she had since she was much younger, like her personal Zen position. "I never really knew my birth parents. According to the Rio, they were glad to sell me away to better their own lives with the profit. Honestly, I try not to care about it too much..." Ada let out a soft sigh then shook her head dismissively.
The pause ended quickly before she continued to say, "Your sole purpose for living is to gone your talents in service of our Daimyo and all that is his. That's what I was always told at least once a day. It is through fulfilling this purpose that I can repay the Rio for all they have done for me." She paused again to look up at the rocky ceiling of the Little bunker. "I wonder then, why has Seizan fallen like this? Where is the Daimyo's elite army to repel these invaders? How did these monsters get so far into his territory without notice or preemptive response? For as small as this invading force is, it should've been no trouble to protect these people..." Ada brought her forehead down to rest onto her knees. "I am not worthy to serve his excellency with these doubts. However, there is nothing else that I am destined for in this life." Ada last few muffled sentences expressed a conflicted disparity which she would not share in the presence of others so easily. However, it was somewhat comforting to do so with Hachiro. She didn't expect him to have any answers or advice, and probably wouldn't easily accept any either. The silence that followed her response seemed to last an eternity. Hachiro knew the unspoken reason for the silence. Mutual or not, he knew what he had just experienced. A tactical shift in conversation by Ada would dispel the tension as she began. Her experience as a noble being explained put Ada in a new light to Hachiro. He was only slightly aware of her nobility status, but not its origin. Her being conjoined to a noble family from a common upbringing was rather surprising. Not as surprising as her tales of abuse. ' I never noticed her feminine side before.' he thought as he noted the shifting of her legs to her chest as she let her feelings out in the corridor hidden beneath the corpses.
Her doubts soon came to fruition. Her questioning of her lord's motives, of his actions. What bothered Hachiro was not this, but her dismissal of her position and acceptance of a fate she was handed. Hachiro's hand gripped tightly on the sword again that was planted on the ground at its tip. His grey hued eyes morphed their expression with the furrowing of a brow. " Stop that. " He said firmly with a sharp tone, most likely drawing her eyes back to his own before speaking. " Destiny is not some scripted novel. A lord is nothing without their subjects. Their council and concern is his compass to lead the people under their protection to the future." His nostrils flared as he exhaled heavily through them. " If your Daimyo is where you desire to place your talents, then so be it. Free will cannot be manipulated, ergo it is not 'free'. If your lord would defend the people of this village, act as his sword for now if it is your will too. Their bodies can not longer be protected but their spirit and memory can and will be defended long before they march on our home." Hachiro would feel an internal pride in his words. Without realizing it until after the words spilled from his mouth, he realized his brother had given a similar speech to the Kaguya on their enternment. Now, although it were but one girl, he would ignite Daigoro's will once more. Then it continued to dawn upon him. That would be his purpose. He felt a sense of duty to the lives of the Kaguya he had abandoned when he fled in fear. He would finish his brother's mission. He would free the land of the moon. His resolve to do so would fuel him for the oncoming battle as he anticipated its arrival all the more. Not with blood lust, but with glorious purpose.
He looked to Ada, eyes full of passion now and spoke once more. " We will win today, then we can get all the answers we need. We shouldn't lose hope here."
As the columbn of soldiers approached the village the commander stopped. With a wave of his hand as small squad of five men were sent into the village to clear it. Captain Akagi knew better then to rush things, he learned that after his battle with the Chosokabe clan. What would happen to those men~ Was up to the hidden shinobi ~
__ Ada remained rather quiet at this point. While she did appreciate Hachiro's uplifting input, it fell short from calming her heart. However, a better motivator was surely fear. "They've arrived. Although, it looks like they're being hesitant about entering the village. Strange... considering it was them who razed Seizan probably not too long ago." While Ada did respect the enemy for their caution, she was certain that it would do them no good. Nothing that had been prepared was designed to be triggered into activation. It was entirely up to Hachiro and her own input to put this army into a fiery electrified submission. All the same, they probably wouldn't risk taking action until there was some sign of their allies nearby. "Their leader sent five scouts into the village. That's all for now..." Her eye in the sky would have excellent view of almost all of Seizan as well as the unknown army's movements with this positioning. Hachiro's gaze and attention went above them as he could feel the vibrations in the wall above. " Just five?" he whispered. " I wonder if they had sent a single unit to take the city and they're just now arriving? It appeared as though most of this was a bomb or explosive. One man would easily plant it all."
Hachiro's nostrils flared. He was gritting his teeth as he often scolded Kenshin for doing in frustration. He was incapable of not thinking about cutting them down one by one. For the sake of holding his position, he waited in silence.
With the scouts entering the city unmolested, the first platoon split into two groups and entered the city proper. Standing at the outskirts Akagi looked uneasy, but the lieutenant of first platoon did not share his hesitation and entered the city alongside his men.

The Sensory Haze that Hino had put over the group maintained as they kept pace with the twins. They all knew the same techniques to move faster through the cover of snow covered trees on the mountain side. Jay and Jeon bounded from position to position like a pair of actual apes, with Hino keeping step and Oro just barely lagging behind. He was having a bit of trouble with the precarious terrain, but it was not for him to complain. No he was entirely focused on Hino and the Monkey Sages. If it came down to it, he would be kept behind with the express intent of staying as much out of sight as possible to hit any and all targets with genjutsu. At the very least he could crush the sheilding before his squad put them in the dirt.
As for Jeon and Jay, they were within a whistle's distance, even with howling winds. A carefully placed foot barely touched the trunk of a tree and the girl's body bounded, catching a stinging vine in her group. Jay caught her other hand, and she launched him forward, careful not to disturb too much snow as he caught a branch and allowed himself to roll to the ground in a sommersault. The two of them approached the roadside, slowing down and allowing Hino, who was the one able to sense everything occurring within the town to lead them closer. The group got as close as they could while remaining within the cover of the snow. "Ok. The enemy personnel are still approaching, getting to what I assume to be their positions, which they intend to hold the city within. First step, retrieve our ninja." he reminded them. The group wiped the snow from the headbands they'd tied over their masks. Jay and Jeon had armor emblazoned with the symbol of Kumogakure already, but it was a good tactic so they were identifiable. They arrived and Hino noted that there was nothing but debris. "Ok, they are definitely here, I just don't know where. Wait... I sense something in the air. A technique... I'm going to guess something to give them vision from where they are hiding. Jay, Jeon, go up top, it's that way." The twins nodded, bounding up the wall in just a few steps. The three story building was high enough that the sand eye should see them. Hino, meanwhile, continued masking their presence from any sensory effects, monitoring the coming troops from the very same Ally they were hiding in. At the top, Jay kneeled down for Jeon, who had barely picked out the sand eye in the sky. With as much strength as they could muster, the duo launched them up towards the eyeball. When they were close enough, seh would gesture towards her head band, and then point towards where the rest of them were. She would reach the height of her jump arc, and then drive back towards the ground, breaking her fall by bounding off the edge of a roof and entering a sommersault that landed her back beside Hino.

__ Many paths and platforms of silver remained concealed not only a shallow distance under the bloodied soil, but also under the late winter snow. Ada's sand eye maintained surveillance over the area in the meantime, watching at another detachment of the enemy forces made their way into Seizan. To answer Hachiro's earlier question she replied, "It's possible, but they're sending more in now. It should almost be- hmn?" She stopped, noticing movement from another side of the ruined village's extremities. "Looks like it's almost time." About a minute later, she'd be given a rather blatant signal that the new arrivals were in fact the awaited reinforcements. "The calvary has arrived, but it looks like we'll probably have to adjust our trap a little. For now, let's go meet them..." Gestured for Hachiro to follow her up out of the bunker and back into the alley where was well-hidden. The cramped space was a little hard to navigate, but she'd do her best to not put too much of herself in his personal space. She carefully came out from underground, wary of any sounds or visual cues that suggested danger. As far as she could see, no enemies were very near this part of the village. "Clear." She whispered just loud enough for Hachiro to hear as he would be not far behind. For the moment, they'd wait here to meet their rescuers before probably going to meet up with the rest of their forces. Hachiro's shoulders had become tense. The waiting in the bunker had been hours and hours. It almost startled him when Ada announced that it was almost time. Even better, the calvary had arrived. He stood, turning his head side to side in order to crack his neck. He turned and looked to his sisters body which he had covered with his jacket. The detailless sheet like appearance draped over her childish features stirred the anger in Hachiro's heart, bringing a wave of pain back. Closing his eyes and gathering himself, he would nod to Ada. He would whisper. " Right. Lets move out."
Hachiro would follow Ada out. The warmth of the air surprised him. The underground had been so frigid that the heated breeze on his bare chest felt surprisingly good.
Hino's sensory haze would now mask the entire group, as he used a sensory shunshin to put himself just ahead of the group, realizing the enemy were close to being in their positions by his sensory skill. He rose from a kneeling position, and Oro faded in from the falling snow beside him. As for the twins, they both landed after managing to throw each other the few blocks away that they had ended up. Now, they had succeeded in their part of the mission. "Ada, Hachiro. We are anbu exfiltration squad Osiris. I'm Hino, they're Oroborous, Wukong and Goku." The twins gave a beat on their chests, Oro a nod, to acknowledge their names. "It's time to go. We got enemy contacts moving in, high ranking enemy troops, artillery, and a Captain, probably the equivalent of our Konin. We need to go." Jeon said somewhat hastily, drawing her weapon just in case. They wouldn't waste time, Hino motioning for them to come unless they had something planned.
Little did Osiris actually know they did indeed have a plan.
