NPC R'lon and brown Hiatanth
Hiatanth followed Vimiath, focused only on her golden, shimmering form. Even though it was dark, he knew he was ahead of the pack. He wasn't straining, though, and this pleased the brown. He knew there was likely a long way to go, but he didn't want to give up his lead. He wanted this gold, wanted to twin tails, and twine his neck -- to capture the beautiful creature.

He was focused on the queen's every move, and didn't flinch when she went straight for the stone. No, he knew she would not be so foolish as to crash, and he was going to make sure he follow her inch by inch. He grew up in High Reaches, and the mountains -- playing wherry with a ledge was something weyrlings did all the time -- he would show her just how brave he was!

Vimiath! You are wild, and daring! Surely, your hearts and mine beat the same fearless song. No stone would keep me away; no danger would be so great! Hiatanth pulled up at the last moment, allowing his own claws to barely scrap the stone. He roared defiantly at all the males behind him, making sure they knew they were competing against the best

No wonder he and His had been sent here to train them!

R'lon, for his part, was losing himself to the lust with every passing moment. He was soaking wet, and though he thought he was making his way to where Vimiath's rider's weyr was, he also wasn't.... sure. It was dark, and he wanted his claws to sink into someone; wanted to catch as desperately as his brown did.

M'vey wasn't here... but more and more he found it all right. Distance might make the heart grow fonder, but R'lon found it causing him to be more forgetful. Now, if only he could get out of this rain.

The rain wasn't bothering him as much as the dragons ahead of him. His had once hoped for a bronze--no! He was superior in every way. He surged forward.

NPC C'nat and Bronze Aratasth

A foolish grin spread over his face as C'nat felt the burst of elation rush through Aratasth. She said my name! The rider wrapped his rain cover tighter around his shoulders and lowered his head, riding the feelings rushing through him much as one might ride a violent wave. His body shuddered as the rain began to fall harder and he pressed his back harder into the bark of the tree. Desires were one thing, a Gold Flight was quite another thing to feel. The rush!

With a renewed rush of adrenaline shooting through his body, Aratasth rushed after the gleaming gold. He watched as every strike of lightning seemed to give strength to her enchanting form, her headlong rush of flight truly a sight to behold.

Worry not beautiful golden Vimiath, my eyes are only yours this night. Ask anything of me, fly to the greatest of heights and I will always follow you, like a moth to a burning flame.

Beating his wings all the harder and riding his elation past the slower of the dragons before him, the large bronze watched as lightning illuminated the caldera wall before them. Vimiath flew at it as if to test them, and a brilliant test it was! Angling his large wings to adjust for the breakneck careen that the gold had sent him into, Aratasth spun in the air and just missed the wall. With his eyes locked on Vimiath he was able to adjust quickly out of the spiral and only shook his head once to clear it as he rushed towards the gold once more. His senses were overwhelmed by his desire as it swarmed to the fore-front of his brain and sent reason out the door.

Test us with your strength! Show us the rage that fills you Vimiath! Fill us with nothing but thoughts of your brilliance!

Aratasth's eyes were purple with desire already, glowing in his bronze face as if foreign. Nothing would keep him from her this night, no bronze would tame her and certainly no brown. He fixed his eyes on the brown dragon so far ahead of him and reached for the stores of his stamina to guide him towards victory.

The edge of the caldera was coming up, far too fast even for Kraketh lagging near the back. His time as the mount of a pirate would pay off, though, something he knew without thinking. He responded to Vimiath's roar with his own, twisting away from the edge at the last moment. While he felt the wind as he passed the rock, he never felt the rock itself, even in the dimmest parts of his mind. You are angered, dear Vimiath! Let me help calm you, if you will have me!

In the Weyr halls, Jacomus leaned on a wall, shivering and panting as he watched through Kraketh's eyes. That wall was cutting it very close, Kraketh!

He found his words of caution ignored. Just as well. Tugging uselessly at his wet tunic, Jacomus stumbled on, no destination in mind. He wasn't even purposely seeking the gold rider's weyr this time, his underlying and ever-present fears keeping him at bay for the time being. If he happened to stumble upon her... Well, they'd have to see what happened, wouldn't they?

NPC Brown Honath

Honath couldn't believe the beauty that was the gold Vimiath that was streaking through the dark night like a bolt of lighting herself. He should have known better than to get distracted by the sight of her, as he didn't hear the warnings ringing through his head from his, and he found that he more than clipped the wall when he turned to follow the gold. His legs hurt and it felt as though his wing had run into the wall the same as him. Honath would have a difficult time recovering and he felt it into his bones.

"Honath!!! Keep it together!" Ah'i yelled through their bond, trying to break through the fog the gold's rising was causing in his lifemate. Ah'i had completed his training the same as other candidates, but he found the first experience of a rising gold was much harder put into practice than in training. Not only did he have to fight through Honath's feelings, but his own that were feeding off them. While that part didn't mind him at all, Honath being injured struck his heart deeply. "Honath, focus!" He attempted once more.

No wall shall keep me from reaching you! Your beauty outshines any storm and your grace out flies any bolt of lighting! Honath called to Vimiath, likely too far for her to hear his minor projection. He had to find a way to get closer to her!

Keahith wasn't pleased, he wasn't pleased at all. First the rain and second he was only in the middle of the pack. The faster he caught Vimiath meant the faster he could get out of this sharding rain! "Keep your focus...and watch that wall!!!" H'ner and Bronze Thath

Thath struggled to correct his path from the initial attempt to give chase, barreling after her with all the speed he could muster. With the wind and rain he struggled to see what was around him, only barely catching the caldera wall in time to turn after her. Lovely Vimiath! How clever of you. His wing clipped the wall as he turned sending pain spiraling through both the bronze and his bonded. It would hold, he would fly despite it.

H'ner hit his knees as the sudden shock racked him and he hissed. Don't push your luck Thath. I won't be happy about being grounded if you push too far. He pushed back to a standing position and took some time to recover before continuing.

Talela was sitting on her bed now, wrapped up in a couple of blankets and holding the rest on her lap. Well, actually, she was crushing them against her chest as she fought with Vimiath. Calm down, Vimi. Fly up, and stop with all of the theatrics, please.

In the moonlit sky, the gold hissed and shook her head, as if trying to knock her rider’s thoughts away. But Talela’s touch was firm, gently guiding her higher, toward the clouds. They were near enough now that the peals of thunder could be felt in her body, vibrating her very bones. To get the height she needed for the finest clutch, there was no choice. She would have to enter that rumbling lair.

She drew a deep breath and roared her defiance as she disappeared into the dense clouds.

No sooner had Eorawth caught up with the others than Vimiath soared skyward, deep into the morass of storm clouds raining lightning and thunder down on the Weyr. Her horde of suitors followed eagerly; Eorawth followed... less than eagerly? Was the lust wearing off? He thought of beautiful gold Lyraeth, waiting for him somewhere... Was it time for him to drop out of the chase?

A lightning bolt shot past him, perilously close, and he hissed.

He had his answer.

Eorawth was an intelligent dragon; and he knew when the odds were against him. It was like everything was conspiring to keep him from being competitive. So the only sensible thing to do was to quit the chase. It didn't make any sense to continue when his hearts weren't in it; he had enough pride to realize that. Besides, his flank hurt, and he was dripping ichor from the injury on his wing. Yes, time to withdraw, with his dignity intact.

Mine! he called as he wheeled around and soared toward his weyr. We are going to join Lyraeth and hers. I am done here. I hurt.

On the ground, Z'haq, soaking wet, looked skyward to see his bronze pull away from the others chasing Vimiath. He felt the dragon lust flow out of his system, and he sighed. Despite how much he wanted Eorawth to win, he had to confess that his heart wasn't really into it either. "I'll meet you at the weyr," he said, turning to go back to his weyr. "We'll see to your injuries too, Eo." He paused and smiled. "You did good, beloved."

NPC C'nat and Bronze Aratasth

A crack of lightning had C'nat up. It had been much closer than what he felt even remotely comfortable with and suddenly the idea of being outside in the pouring rain with lightning striking around his body held less of an appeal than it had earlier. The Weyr proper was close, that much he knew and he called frantically to his dragon for an image of where he was to go. The lust filled brain rejected his request at first, but when another strike of lightning made the air crackle around him the fear must have gotten through. Though he could no longer see him in the sky, C'nat knew that Aratasth startled and paused in the air and he quickly tried to calm his friend so that he could continue his pursuit. A flash of knowledge ran through his head and C'nat stumbled in a rush through the damp of the night and headlong into... the wall right beside the door.

Laughter pealed through his head and the bronze rider scoffed as he picked himself up off the ground in a huff. He wandered through the door and did his best to flap out the rain cover outside before he drenched the stones. C'nat's hair stuck in crazy directons about his head when he walked into yet more rain and it was plastered to him once more. The irritation that he began to feel was washed away by desire that flooded through him so strong that it nearly took his breath away; C'nat struggled to keep his own sense as he was swallowed by his dragons lust and his feet began to walk of their own accord.

Aratasth was still laughing at C'nat as he attempted to gain back the momentum he had lost when worry had overcome him. Despite his pause of flight he was still able to see Vimiath in the sky above him, gaining height into the thunderclouds above them so that she seemed to be made of lightning and pure rage. The bronze let out a roar in response to hers and powered up into the clouds, so far behind the pack of dragons following her. But at least, not the last.

Into the storm, into the light and electric night! Lead on beautiful lady!

NPC Bronze Blundarth and K'tor

The shimmering pack seemed so far away. Impossibly far some might say, but Blundarth was not some. He would stay in the sky until Vimiath bid him leave it. Either with her, or when she had found another. Whatever his radiant queen wished, Blundarth would devotedly comply. As Vimiath led the chase higher into the sky Blundarth felt the flames of hope grow ever stronger. This he could do! He may not be able to turn, but power he could manage. The bronze angled himself upwards and beat his large wings to follow the others. So far behind, he did not have to worry about the other males getting in his way. Great wingstrokes carried him higher and higher, desperate to close the gap between Vimiath and himself.

A pang of dismay shot through the bronze as the beautiful creature leading him vanished into the clouds. He shrugged it off, letting the feeling wash off him with the pelting rain. He would see her again. She would enchant him with her presence once again. He would show Vimiath that even with that little hiccup, he could still be her champion! That he was worthy of her time, however much she saw fit to bestow on him. All that Blundarth could think about was pleasing her. Regardless of the stinging ache that was beginning to spread through the remains of his right foreleg. It was the cold, he knew that. That meant it could be ignored. K'tor would see to it later. It may hurt, but Vimiath was worth it. She always would be. She was worth every jolt and ache. Worth the dark, ugly, mark that was beginning to spread across his chest. Worth the burning sensation that leeched into his wings as he pushed himself ever harder, ever higher, after her.

Nasath trumpeted in alarm as Vimiath slipped out of sight into the thick dark clouds. He pumped his wings, eager to chase after, but the errattic storm gusts betrayed him. A sudden downdraft yanked him towards the bowl and off course, and by the time the bronze had his head about him again, he'd lost all track of which way the gold and most of her suitors had gone. Shards. Shards! His second scream was one of anger, at himself and those who were outshining him. Not for long! He was too brazen and young and hot-blooded to give up even when he really should have. The bronze dove into the swirling inkyness and could only hope he was going the right way.

Wait for me, my golden one! Don't leave me behind, I couldn't bare to be apart from you now of all times...!

A'iel had paused near the bottom of the steps as Nasath had been momentarily manhandled bu the squall, bracing for the shared feeling of his dragon colliding with Faranth only knew what. This was a horrid mess if you asked him. Of all the nights for a gold to rise! He could demand his partner land, of course, but he knew Nasath would never forgive him. So instead he just bore the fear and stress as best he could, breathing deeply...and then gasping when someone knocked into him from behind! "Careful...!" He reached out instinctively to grab onto the person that'd tripped down the last of the stairs.

"...Wingleader T'mor?" That was right! He'd seen Phylideth up there, through Nasath's eyes. "Careful, sir..."

Vimiath seemed to be growing in desire - for what? Phylideth couldn't have placed it, but the dragoness's reputation was at least somewhat known to T'mor who was still stumbling about like a fool. He took a moment, bracing himself against the stairway as he fell into his brown's mind. It was perhaps the worst thing about flight lust - fading in and out of being a dragon. Brace yourself T'mor warned and for once Phylideth actually took his advice.

Perhaps not as well as he should have. As any other dragon passed him, Phylideth roared his defiance, snapping at wings and tails if they drew too near to him. Vimiath was far past him by now, but the brown gathered himself enough to continue on after her to the best of his abilities. How can I give you beautiful babies if you fly away? the brown called, though there was no sweet trilling or loving calling out towards her.

T'mor finally continued on down the stairs, though he did catch his foot on the edge of a step and went tumbling down it. Oops.
