SEBASTIAN SHARP

Outdoor and Survival Teacher

Sebastian smiled as the two walked. He hoped that all his students would show as much enthusiasm for his class as Elysia was. It was a new experience for him, to have the opportunity to share his knowledge with the next generation of Pokémon Trainers. Especially given the horrid events of the past, which Sebastian tried very hard not to think about. Elysia went on to explain that she had some experience with battling, her tone changing a bit to frustration and tinged with anger. Sebastian nodded and reassured Elysia, "I wasn't trying to say that you or your Bronzor were unfit to be out in the forest Miss Penrose. I was only making sure that you had some idea of what to expect should you come across some wild Pokémon. Not everyone thinks that far ahead. But I'm glad to hear that you've bonded with Bronzor and gotten some practise in battle. Its unfortunate that your friends didn't allow you to fully use you Pokémon's abilities. Rest assured that you will have ample opportunity to get to know yourself and your Pokémon while your at the Academy."

As they walked, the large dancing Feraligtr looked around. He didn't spot any major threats, but when on was raised by a Pokémon Ranger, you were taught to pay attention to the surroundings no matter what. The Water Type heard a rustle from the trees above and glancing up, he spotted an onyx blob that contrasted sharply with the green leaves around him. Bopping his head, the Feraligtr nudged his Trainer while speaking in his deep voice, "Gat-gat...Gatr..." Sebastian turned towards his partner and the muscled reptile looked up to the tree. The dark haired adult followed his Pokémon's gaze and spotted the midnight feathers and curious eyes of a Murkrow. But his interest was sidetracked by the inquisitive question Elysia directed towards him.

Sebastian was glad to be able to help Elysia if she wanted to catch a Pokémon, but it might be best if she had a warm up battle to start,, "That's a very good question Elysia. The easiest answer I can give is that it depends on the Pokeball you're intending to use. All wild Pokémon have a natural inclination to struggle against being captured. So unless you spend time trying to befriend them, usually to capture a Pokémon, you frist off have to battle the Pokémon you want to capture to weaken it. It might seem a bit harsh, but Pokémon like to battle and test their strength. So as long you respect them, they tend to forgive you and become your friends with time. As for actually trying to capture a Pokémon, once their weakened, you can try to use a Pokeball to catch them. A Regular Pokeball like you were given has a lower chance of success than say something like a Great Ball or an Ultra Ball. But I'm sure you'll learn about that in you Science and Technology Class."

Sebastian pointed up to the Murkrow in the tree so Elysia was aware of it. While he liked to have people learn things by themselves, a little help was always nice to have too. , "Try scanning that Pokémon up there with your Pokedex to get some information on it. If you want to try to catch it, have you Bronzor challenge it to a battle. I'm sure it won't say no and it will be a good experience for you and your Pokémon to work together." Sebatian was tempted to add that the Dark Type would be immune to Elysia's Bronzor's Psychic attacks, but that was also part of the learning curve. If he gave away all the answers, Elysia would never learn anything. Best that she find her own stride in her studies. Sebastian merely looked over at Jace, silently telling the evolved Water Type to be prepared to step in and help if Elysia and her Pokémon hit a snag.

Pokemon you see me with... Shelah, the bronzor

It was as he said that she would get many chance to hone her skill and learn. Even right now Elysia was getting a lesson. "That's true," she nodded, feeling slightly guilty for not thinking through of the man's concern from his question. "I am looking forward to see what the academy has to offer. I heard it has only opened yet, so there's only one grade," it was something Elysia was told about the academy. How that the academy was created to combat the high mortality rate of trainer due to inexperience and lack of knowledge. They would basically be beta testers for it for those higher up to see what works and what don't. Elysia was born after the ban, so she didn't understand much about the topic. What she knew was limited to hearsay.

Elysia glanced back toward the huge crocodile that was following them. With such powerful pokemon coming along with them, she was sure there won't be any weaker pokemon that will dare to attack them. Those that dare would be one that was sure it could match the beast. It made her quite nervous when she walked deeper into the forest. She won't stand a chance against a pokemon like that. Her bronzor stuck close to her side, so it would be able to defend her at a moment's notice.

Her attention was once more back to ask question about how to catch a pokemon. "ah,so it's like that," Elysia replied. "hmmm, but then won't they dislike us if we attack them like that despite them liking battle?" she was worried that she won't be able to get along with her pokemon if she attacked them, so she could catch them. She further received her answer that as long as she gave them respect, the pokemon would forgive her. She thought it wouldn't be that simple as she sure won't like it if she got attacked and it would be more than a simple matter to forgive. Elysia kept the comment to herself as she hadn't seen how a recently caught wild pokemon would behave.

When Mr.Sharp pointed toward a pokemon on a tree, she became aware of a black bird that was perching there. Although its feather contrast with color of leaves, it blended well with the shadows. Elysia nodded at the instruction and scanned the pokemon. " Murkrow, the Darkness Pokémon. Murkrow confuse would-be attackers by luring them into dark mountain trails, where they are sure to get lost. Many people believe that if you see a Murkrow at night it will bring bad luck," the pokedex informed her along with its typing, dark & flying. "Dark type . . . if I recall it's opposite of psychic," Elysia tried to recall what she knew of the type. She couldn't remember every detail of the typing. They are typically nocturnal, have good night vision and known to be aggressive. Lastly, she knew that Shelah was weak toward dark type attack. It might be good to have a pokemon with type that her pokemon is weak against. "Alright, let's challenge it," Elysia decided.

The murkrow appeared to be aware what would happen. It watched her with amusement and was content to wait for her to make her move. "Shelah, try confusion," Elysia commanded since it was the only long range attack Shelah knew. Shelah was reluctant, but used it anyway. His eyes began to glow as it hurled psychic energy at the pokemon which made no move to dodge. Instead, it cawed mockingly, then dived down to meet the attack itself. Elysia was surprised at the pokemon's action and she soon understood when the murkrow passed through it as if the attack's a mere light breeze. Quickly it was already in front of Shelah. "How!?" Elysia didn't know dark type's immunity. Murkrow created a ghostly mirage in front of it to startle Shelah. It was an astonish attack that made Shelah backed away. "Shelah, use tackle," Elysia issued a different command. She was trying to figure it out why their attack didn't do anything, but her opponent won't wait for her. All she could do was continue on. The bronzor's tackle connected as the murkrow was in close range after using astonish. The murkrow cawed as it was pushed back. It took flight before more damage could be done to it and dived once more, its talon ready. Shelah tried to dodge sideway, but murkrow was faster. Its talon found purchase on him, then barrage of peck followed. "Zorrr bronzor zor zor!" shelah wasn't able to attack with the murkrow perching on him. He was wobbling due to the extra weight he had to carry on top of being pecked. It was looking very bad for Elysia. Despite peck not doing much damage, it would add up over time, so Elysia had to think of a way to get the murkrow off. Confusion was no good as she didn't know it will work or not, hypnosis required Shelah to face his target, while for tackle, Shelah needed the murkrow off him. Nothing of Shelah's moves were useful.

"oh no . . . " Elysia was starting to panic. "There must be something we can do . . . " She was still unwilling to admit defeat. Her eyes began to scan her surrounding for what she could use in conjunction with her move. Focus. she needed to get the murkrow's grip to loosen, by unbalancing it . . . how? shook him off? they would need strong enough force which they could probably get from tackle. "Ah!?" the answer was finally found. "Shelah!" she called for bronzor's attention. "Ram the murkrow to a tree." Her command was clear to Shelah. He sped up toward a tree. Moment before he collided, Murkrow caught the danger and let Shelah go. It caused him to slam into a tree and the murkrow didn't miss the chance to attack with a pursuit while Shelah was dazed. "No, you don't," Elysia won't let it knock her pokemon out. She threw her pokeball in her attempt to interrupt the attack. Murkrow was already executing its move and unable to dodge the pokeball. It was sucked in.

The pokeball dropped to the ground, shaking furiously, before opening to release an agitated Murkrow. It cawed angrily before deciding it had enough. After it was safe, Elysia ran to her pokemon side, checking his condition. He got quite beaten up and full of scratch from all those pecking. It was mostly minor wound though. He was dazed and fatigued at most. Elysia was glad that she threw that pokeball to stop the murkrow. It would be much more worse if that last attack hit. "you need to rest," Elysia pulled out Shelah's pokeball to return him, but he refused. Shelah won't leave his trainer alone with stranger and in wilderness. The bronzor hovered back up. He was tired, but he could still move about. Elysia nodded in understanding and clipped the pokeball back into her belt. Truthfully, she preferred Shelah to stay out by her side too.

SEBASTIAN SHARP

Outdoor and Survival Teacher

Sebastian nodded to Elysia's question, confirming her suspicions, "The Academy is still very green. But we all start as beginners...no one wakes up knowing everything and we continue to learn with every breath we take." Sebastian's voice took on a bit of a philosophical tone, aged with wisdom that only experience could offer. He saw the lilac girl glance at his Feraligtr and smiled a bit. The dark haired Teacher could understand Elysia's interest with the massive reptile, she likely hadn't seen many fully evolved Pokémon. But she didn't seem to be afraid of him. That was good, it showed she was open minded and not prone to snap decisions.

Elysia's question about wild Pokémon disliking them after a battle made Sebastian pause a bit and think before answering right away. "Some Pokémon may hold a slight grudge for a short time. But they will eventually see that you're a good Trainer worthy of them. And its far better to have a bit of a dislike from the Pokémon than to try to trick them into being captured, or worst, force them to become part of your team. Pokémon are noble and proud creatures. And the do not respect, nor will they be willing to listen to someone that can't return that respect or someone who isn't willing to allow them to test their full potential. I know its a bit confusing, but once you start to train a Pokémon, you'll have a better understanding." It was somewhat difficult to explain how the bond between Trainer and Pokémon worked. There were something's that couldn't be explained, they had to be experienced....felt with the heart. And that was something even a school like the Ordell Academy couldn't teach.

As Elysia was made aware of the Murkow, Sebastian took a backseat. It was wonderful to watch a battle with a new Trainer and her Starter Pokémon. It made Sebastian think back to his own days as a Rookie, battling against wild Sentret's and Pidgy's in Johto to build up their strength and friendship. Elysia seemed to think for a few moments before deciding to challenge the Dark Type. Sebastian spoke softly to his Water Partner as Jace sidled up beside him, "Jace...do nothing unless the Bonzor and Elysia are in real danger. But be prepared with a Water Pulse if they need help." The large Feraligtr nodded in understanding, paying closer attention to the battle as he jived in place, listening to the inner jukebox that always played in his head.

As the battle started, Elysia made her first mistake. It was one Sebastian was expecting and actually was quite glad about. She told her Bronzor to use Confusion on the Murkrow. A very normal mistake to make and as Elysia sputtered in shock when the attack did no damage, the dark haired Teacher spoke up from the sidelines, "Remember you own words Elysia. Dark Types are opposite of Psychic Types. Opposites don't affect each other. Keep your head....what else can your Bronzor do to the Murkrow?" Sebastian had no intention of giving away the answers to winning the battle. Elysia needed to learn to stand on her own feet and Sebastian was only there as support and backup if needed. The battle continued, with Elysia doing quite well at commanding her Bronzor. The Murkrow was getting worn down. But Pokémon were ever a tricky and prideful species, and the swift black bird managed to get under the Bronzor's defence, unleashing a barrage of attacks. Elysia was starting to panic, so Sebastian spoke up again, "Elysia....remember that Pokémon battles aren't only about the two opponents. The environment around plays just as large a roll as the battle itself."

His words seemed to strike a cord, and Elysia took them to heart. She used the large trees as a solid surface for a modified Tackle Attack. Sebastian nodded in approval at her ingenuity and quick thinking. The Murkrow let go of her Bronzor and before it could escape, Elysia threw her Pokeball at the Dark Type. Sebastian leaned forward a bit to watch the wiggling red and white device, but it wasn't to be this time. The Pokeball opened and the Murkrow escaped with a loud 'CAW', flying off into the sky. Sebastian clapped his hands together regardless, walking over to Elysia with a smile. "That was a very good battle Elysia. You adapted to a difficult sitation, commanded you Bronzor with expert care and came out a victor. It doesn't matter that you didn't catch the Murkrow, you gain something much better. Experience and knowledge that will help you success next time. Ever new Trainer losses the first Pokémon they try to catch, don't let that stop you from trying again. Alright...you did fantastic."

Sebastian laid a friendly hand on Elysia's shoulder in congratulations and comfort, smiling down at the young girl. Jace side shuffled over to Shelah, nodded his large head in respect to the baby Pokémon and giving the Bronzor a thumbs up, "Gat-gat. Gatr-gatr." Sebastian noticed that the shadows of the trees seemed to be getting larger and tilted his head back to look at the sun between the canopy. The sky he could see was getting dimmer and he could feel a slight chill starting to form in the air. He'd completely lost track of time walking in the forest with Elysia. Nodding up the pathway, he waved to the lavender haired girl, "Seems we've lost track of time on our nature walk Miss Penrose. It'll be getting dark soon and supper will be served shortly. Plus you Bronzor could do with a visit to the Nurse's Office for some healing. Let's head back to the school, don't want to be caught on here after sunset. It would be very easy to get lost. I'm glad you had a good time out here, but I'm afraid we should return to the school." Sebastian headed back up the pathway, waving Elysia along with him.

Elysia was a little let down that the murkrow escaped. It was a formidable opponent that possessed interesting move. Sadly, they weren't able to weaken it enough for capture. Mr. Sharp's praise did lessen her disappointment a little. "Thanks, still, the result was clear the moment psychic attack has no effect on it. I really need to find a way to teach Shelah more variety of moves," Elysia said. She had pushed on even when she was left with disadvantage. it wasn't uncommon occurrence for her. She had lost often enough even back home against opponent that hold advantage over Shelah. it drove her to keep on searching how to deal with disadvantage. She, herself hasn't realized it that she was making use of bronzor's many resistance to win, so when there was opponent that hold advantage, she had trouble and lost. When Mr.Sharp placed his hand on her shoulder, she felt his effort to console her. She tried to give him a smile and a reply to show that this lost didn't bother her,"I understand. There will be other pokemon that I can catch. At least, next time when I battle dark type or when similar situation happens, I will know how to deal with it." Even though Elysia was bothered by every lost. She was determined to go to a library when she got the chance to look up more about her pokemon, so she could better utilize shelah's potential.

She was slightly nervous when ferraligatr approached her. It didn't last long, since Jace gave her bronzor a thumbs-up. She had to giggle at the action. It was a very humane thing for a pokemon to do. Her bronzor didn't share Elysia's sentiment. "Zor?" he tilted slightly as he was confused of what that meant. "I think he meant you did a good job during battle," Elysia explained although she wasn't really sure Shelah understood her properly. The bronzor did returned the ferraligatr with an enthusiastic "Bron zor."

Elysia was inspecting Jace with her eyes, since he was standing quite close to her. She even tried to touch his cold and smooth scale. Pokemon like Jace would normally terrified her, but Jace wasn't acting like he would do her harm during the duration she had seen him. His eccentric behavior also helped. She probably would have asked Jace for a ride if not for Mr. Sharp speaking to her. She became aware that the sun was going to set soon. "Yeah, it is," she agreed that they should return back to school. However, she didn't know where the infirmary is. She probably should ask Mr. Sharp when they are in the academy ground.

SEBASTIAN SHARP

Outdoor and Survival Teacher

Sebastian listened to Elysia as they walked back towards the campus. He was quite glad the girl had enough self confidence and esteem to accept her failed attempted at capturing the Murkrow so well. A lot of other people wouldn't have been so mellow afterwards. Eve he had trouble getting back in the saddle the first time he failed to catch a Sentret. But Elysia was handling it well, already trying to plan out a way to teach her Bronzor new moves. Sebastian patted the lavender haired girls shoulder in encouragement, "I'm glad to see you're already working towards becoming stronger with your Bronzor. You have the makings of an excellent Trainer, Miss Penrose. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise."

Jace's laidback attitude seemed to confuse the much younger Shelah. Sebastian's faithful Starter Pokémon had been around him for several years and as such had devolved more human like gestures than most Pokémon. But Elysia explained the Feraligtr's expression to her Bronzor and the two seemed to become quite friendly. When Elysia got brave enough to reach out a hand hesitantly, Jace stand still for once, not doing him custom bouncing dance. The large Water Type's skin was smoother than Elysia was perhaps expecting, but still had the armored quality of a reptilian creature. Jace even lower his head a bit and Sebastian chuckled, giving the Feraligtr a scratch behind his large red fin, "Don't be afraid Miss Penrose, Jace is as gentle as a new born baby, even though he looks like he could life up a mountain. I used to take him down to a local park in my hometown and let him give piggy back rides to the young kids. Would you like a ride back to the campus?"

Jace seemed to take that statement into his own hands, or claws, and immediately lowered himself onto all four. Now the Feraligtr really did look a lot like his water dwelling crocodilian relatives. But he looked like he was grinning the whole time, happier than a dog with a bone. Elysia, like many young kids, couldn't help herself and eagerly scrambled onto the exposed back of the Water Pokémon. Her Bronzor seemed to think that was a great idea as well, and hovered at Elysia's shoulders. Jace was having a blast and Sebastian could help but laugh out long at the joyful expressions of both his Pokémon's face and Elysia. Yes....he'd defiantly made the right choice by coming to Ordell Academy. That was for certain. Jace started to trotted happily towards the school and the dark haired Teacher followed behind his Pokémon at a more leisured pace as the sun started to set and rainbows of colors painted the sky.

[Exit to Campus]

Rosetta had just received her first Pokemon, an eccentric and young Charmander. She wanted no relationship to develop the two of them but she knew better than anyone that the two would be forced to cooperate. The Charmander rested within the pokeball that lied by her side and it was almost as if she could feel its warmth radiate from the capture device. She wanted to find a new Pokemon quickly to replace the Charmander as the primary battler. She had been assigned to the coordinator class despite being seeing herself to be more of a battle style trainer. Regardless she believed she would obtain valuable skills from this class.

To be a coordinator it required a touch of elegance and the strength of any other battler. She anticipated that she would need a Pokemon that possessed both beauty and strength. She was in a forest, a habitat home to most likely gentle behaving Pokemon. She was born and raised in Floaroma town, home to vibrant colors of sorts. She was bound to meet a Pokemon that would suit her personality and style. Almost as if a dream she caught a glimpse of a brilliant green Pokemon teeter by and hide in the camouflage of the forest. She found herself already walking towards the spot she had sighted the small creature. The creature itself was no bigger than Charmander, but instead of reminding her of a viscous flame it reminded her of the flowers that surrounded Rosetta and her father when she was young. She wanted to have a memory of her hometown and decided this was the Pokemon that would suit her best.

PostPosted: Fri Feb 26, 2016 8:16 pm
Rosetta drew her pokegear from her side and used the automated pokedex feature. According to the pokedex the species that presented itself in front of her was a Budew. Budew was a Pokemon that would one day blossom into an elegant and stunning Pokemon. Truly a fit for Rosetta, a vibrant green duo. Rosetta knew for her to obtain the Budew she would be required to use the only Pokemon she had. She had a single shot with a single pokeball. Time to make it count.

She quickly grabbed the pokeball from her side and tossed it out. A flash of light emerged from the pokeball and the young lizard made its appearance. Charmander's tail shone brightly and it almost made Rosetta regret her choices. However Rosetta never wavered, when she decided on something she would carry it out until the end. According to the pokedex this Charmander possessed the moves Scratch, Growl, and Ancient Power. No fire type moves, this made Rosetta feel at ease. The young Charmander was incapable of forcing out fire outside of its tail. Rosetta had never pokemon battled before let alone catch a pokemon. She decided the obvious and most tactical move would be to initiate the battle with an attack. She took an unsteady breath and uttered the words, "Alright Charmander, perform Scratch!" The Charmander did not move at first. This left Rosetta confused. Pokemon were born to battle yet why did her Charmander not move. The Charmander seemed as if it were more interested in playing and exploring the forest than battling. It occurred to Rosetta, the pokedex had a category called nature. The nature of this Charmander read mild. To be mild is to be gentle and rarely provoked. Does this mean she had a Charmander that did not want to fight. A gentle flame she had. A flame that did not want to harm anyone or anything. How could a flame be so pure and warm when it could cause great destruction. Rosetta felt confused with herself and wanted to run. The flame that could end a life shined so brightly and gently.

Rosetta must have had a quite frightening face because the Budew seemed like it wanted to immediately run. Charmander playful explored its surroundings by lurking in the grass and jumping out. A flame so small and gentle that defied her logic. Rosetta quickly snapped out of her pitiful trance as she noticed the Budew who began to run away. Rosetta said in a fairly rigid and stern voice, "Charmander, perform Scratch this instance!" Charmander immediately stood to attention as Rosetta's voice instilled fear into it. Charmander stared down at its claws and shook its head to the side. Charmander had no idea what it meant to inflict violence as it had just been born. However Charmander's instincts told it that should it not battle Rosetta would do something worse.

The young Charmander rushed out into battle calling out its own name and scratched the Budew in the face. The Budew began to cry and Charmander started to cry as well. Rosetta felt bad for herself as she finally understood both of these Pokemon were complete and utter wimps. Rosetta walked over to the both of them and patted them on their heads. She whispered in the most friendly tone she could muster, "How about you two do battle and we can all go home together. Sounds fun right?" The two Pokemon seemed to vaguely understand what Rosetta meant and began to scratch and tackle each other. To them it seemed like a game. To Rosetta this was progress at the very least. Budew opened up its bud and began to create a vortex in the air. Charmander seemed to take very little damage, however the Budew on the other hand seemed to be enjoying the pleasant energy drain. Rosetta ordered Charmander, "Charmander use Ancient Power!" The Charmander seemed to understand this move immediately and began to channel energy around itself. The rocks that surrounded Charmander began to levitate and the Charmander quickly hurled them towards Budew. Budew was pelted with a flurry of rocks and fell to the ground.

It was most likely that Charmander inherited some battle prowess from its parents and that this was a gift from the past generation. Knowing that Charmander had such a powerful attack made Rosetta feel at ease. Her Charmander wasn't completely useless. Charmander seemed to be proud of itself as it had successfully won a battle. Rosetta approached the young Budew with a face of delight. Her first battle at the academy seemed to be in her victory. Rosetta however was extremely concerned. Her Charmander seemed to possess hidden battle prowess. Would it one day run rampant and set fire to homes. She feared that if she continued to raise the Charmander that one day it may betray her. During the battle she felt as if she understood her Pokemon, but now that she's no longer in the moment it felt as if they were complete strangers once more. A gentle and weak flame that shone brightly in combat. How would this newly born Charmander develop over time. Would it shine too brightly one day?

Rosetta was unsure how to attempt to capture a Pokemon as this was a first. She withdrew her Charmander and she could feel the temperature drop. Apparently her Charmander's flame radiated the area with warmth but Rosetta did not notice it during the battle. If she kept her Pokemon in the device it also meant the device acted as a catching mechanism. Through order of elimination she grabbed the single pokeball she had been given and tapped the Budew lightly on the forehead. The Budew was instantly enveloped in a bright light and vanished from her sight. The pokeball's center began to shine a brilliant red and the device began to teeter back and forth. Was this an indication she did this correctly? She stepped away from the pokeball for a moment until it stopped rocking. Does this indicate she had successfully made the Budew her own?

Rosetta clutched the pokeball in her hand and released the creature from its captivity in a similar manner from earlier. The Budew seemed to still be injured from its battle with Charmander, but it still had a very energetic feel to it. According to the pokedex it had a very timid nature. This would explain why it almost ran away in battle compared to Charmander who was very mild. If it weren't for Charmander's playfulness the Budew would have most likely run away from Rosetta. Rosetta was grateful for Charmander's personality. She was grateful her Charmander had no ambition to set her ablaze. Rosetta was quite contempt with herself and headed towards her resting area. Apparently she was assigned in the Flygon Dorm. She was now to meet her roommates.

ffffffThe trek to the forest was long, but worth it. She was in awe at the beauty of it all, especially the size of some of the trees. "Oh, hold on," she said before remembering her Pokegear could snap photos. She wanted one of this tree with vines crawling all over it and hanging down from the branches. It'd make for good practice for drawing forest scenes! After taking a few minute to figure it out, Phoebe got the photo and showed Ichiro it, smiling. They moved into the tree line and into the taller grass to look around for a pokemon. Phoebe held Fireball close, watching his tail. Last thing she wanted was to accidentally catch something on fire because she wasn't paying attention. It was proving to be a challenge to keep him in her arms though. With every moment she made, the fire lizard squirmed more and more, trying to get free so he could walk around as well. Finally, she moved him onto her shoulders and let him hold onto her head. It seemed to calm him down, as it normally did. She didn't even want to think of what she'd have to do when he evolved.

Phoebe stopped when she heard a noise, first making sure it wasn't Ichiro. When it wasn't him, she beamed and tried to listen for it again. As soon as she heard it, she moved towards the noise. She tried to be as quiet as possible, as to not scare the pokemon off. Getting Ichiro's attention, Phoebe pointed to a lone pokemon in a clearing of grass. It was one she'd never seen before, so she had to take out her Pokegear to scan it. She made sure to turn the volume down before scanning, as she didn't want to scare it away with the sudden noise. "Budew," she said quietly before nodding and slowly moving out of the grass. She still held Fireball close to her, as she didn't want him to rush the poor grass type. Plus, the element of surprise was good in a battle, right?

ffffffCarefully, Phoebe sat down Fireball, "Okay.. We need to be careful about this. I don't know exactly how-," she was cut off when the small pokemon rushed towards the grass type. "Fireball," she called out before sighing and standing up straight. She looked behind her to Ichiro, suddenly feeling nervous about this. He just smiled and gave a thumbs up, silently cheering her on. Taking a deep breath, she pointing towards the Budew, "I'm sorry if I hurt you, but I feel like we'd make a good team!" Though, it probably sounded like gibberish with how fast she said it. She couldn't stall the battle anymore, though she felt like she could faint herself. Having never battled before, even a wild pokemon like this was getting her nervous. Taking another breath, she felt ready for it now.

"Okay, Fireball, use Growl first!" Fireball nodded to her and let out a mighty, at least as mighty as he could muster, 'Chaaaaaaar'. Apparently this was supposed to make the other pokemon less weary, which she didn't understand much. Being growled at would put her more on edge honestly. Either way, the Budew let out a small 'Dew' and seemed to relax some. Phoebe waited for a moment and grew confused, why wasn't it attacking back. The small grass type was just standing there staring at them, swaying slightly. After making a small noise in confusion, she ordered Fireball's next move, "Uh, okay.. Use Scratch, Fireball!" Rushing at the Budew, the Charmander raised a arm up and brought it down against the other pokemon. The Budew fell back a little and scrambled to get back up. Phoebe was starting to feel bad for it, as the pokemon also didn't have arms to pick itself up. Before she could move to help it, however, it was back and seemed to be charging a move up. Glittering lights came from Fireball as the Budew used Absorb, taking back some of his health to restore its own.

ffffffPhoebe wasn't expecting Absorb to happen, but reasoned it made sense. Budews didn't look like very vicious pokemon, so it would need a way to protect itself. Or in this case, heal itself back up. "Right, use Scratch again," she said to Fireball. Quickly, he repeated his movements, but the Budew moved out of the way in time to dodge the attack. She wasn't expecting the pokemon to do that, nor was she expecting the Budew to counter with another Absorb. By now, the damage done from the first scratch must of been gone. There was no telling how much health Fireball had left before fainting either! Phoebe started to worry, she didn't want him to faint from this.

Seeing it as she had no other choice, Phoebe took a deep breath and ordered what could be the last move of this battle, "Fireball, Ember now!" Fireball grinned and shot out a small fireball at the grass type. It seems they finally caught it off guard again as the attack hit! She cheered and made sure to make Fireball aware, "Great job, now make sure to dodge its Absorb!" Fireball nodded and focused on the battle once more, ready to follow his trainer's command. Though it seemed she misunderstood how Absorb worked. No matter where Fireball moved, the energy was being drained from him and was healing the Budew. She sighed again and nodded her head, Fireball's ability would come in handy here! "One last time, Fireball! Use Ember," she called out. Fireball positioned himself and shot another small fireball at the grass type. It hit again and this time seemed to make the pokemon wobble a bit. The Budew swayed for a second more before falling back to the ground with a soft 'Deeew'. It took both the Charmander and the trainer a moment to process what happened.

ffffffThey actually beat the Budew. Phoebe couldn't believe they actually did it, especially when she only knew so little about battling to begin with. Fireball was so happy, he jumped a bit before moving to his trainer and shaking her leg. "Oh! Right," she said, scrambling for her pokeball. With a toss, she threw it over to the fainted Budew and crossed her fingers. It absorbed the pokemon and landed on the forest floor. The pokeball teetered back and forth, clicking once before making the grand noise that symbolized a successful catch. Phoebe rushed to get the ball up and held it to the sky and she smiled widely, "I did it!" She rushed over to Ichiro, showing him the pokeball, "Did you see that? I actually caught it!" She was so happy over this, so happy she almost forgot. "Oh, Fireball! Come here," she called before kneeling down to him. Phoebe dug around in her bag to get a container of treats out for him, "Here you go, you did so well! I'm so proud of you!" Happily, Fireball stuffed his face with the poketreat. He seemed really proud of them as well for catching that Budew.

Standing back up, Phoebe attached Budew's pokeball to her belt after shrinking it. She and Ichiro would need to run to the nurse to get her pokemon healed before they attended the playdate. Phoebe picked Fireball up, holding him close with a smile, "Is there anything you wanna do here, Ichiro? If not, can we go to the nurse? I don't know where it is and I need to heal my two up." As they walked, she kept a smile on her face as she spoke, "Now Oddish has a playmate that can relate to her. In fact, I think my Budew is a female..." Stopping, she put Fireball on her shoulders to get her Pokegear out and scan the pokeball. "Hm, female... Jolly.. Oh wow, she has Poison Point for her ability! I'm lucky Fireball didn't get poisoned then." Fireball nodded as they continued to move to the nurse.

“I wonder why?” Every time I find that shape,
The past heat haze gently vanishes into the sky.
Like a lamp knocking on the mind, it’s warm.
Even in winter landscapes look more like the colors of spring.
Now the world is changing. No matter when, I don’t want to forget it.

Arriving at the edge of the forest, Hayato looked to the one and only pathway that led anyone to the other side of the forest. Or only to the center. No student knew where it would lead to and judged on the absence of footprints, not many had come here often despite being an ideal place for sighting rare pokemon. And by rare, he meant the ones that weren’t commonly seen in the habitat but came due to the change in weather and an activity accompanied it—for example, migration of bird types.

Hayato noted that this could be a perfect place to have some privacy, to be left alone and focus on his own works. He had a list of things needed to be done in order for him to grow into a strong trainer. Now that was funny. If somone told him a year back that in the near future, he would find himself in a school dedicated to make a trainer out of the young generation and he would be putting some effort into the goal too, then he would give that person a stare that screamed “you’re an ignorent fool” and then walked away with intention of not meeting the other ever again. But here he was planning to explore the forest and find a pokemon that he could use to fool his classmates and a few teachers into believing that it was his first pokemon. Why? What’s so wrong with the Honedge given by his childhood friend’s mother? Oh nothing at all. It was typically normal for an 11 year old kid to own a sword that’s about half of his size—or more?—with blades as sharp as any other swords and additionally it was inhabited by a ghost meaning that it was alive and, for some reason, categorized by scientists to be a pokemon. Honestly, despite the sarcasm, Hayato didn’t really care much about their opinions. If he had to be more honest, he would say that whatever the ghost type did during its free time was none of his business. He had his own reasons to keep it secret. A promise probably. He wasn’t sure what to call it.

Quack! Quack, quack! Crossing the path with each slow, clumsy steps was a light blue duck wearing an idiotic expression just like the duck that Iris had in her team. Pulling out his gear, Hayato flipped it open and pointed it at the pokemon, expecting the monotone voice of the machine.

“Ducklett, a dual-type water/flying pokemon. They are better at swimming than flying, and they happily eat their favorite food, peat moss, as they dive underwater. When attacked, it uses its feathers to splash water, escaping under cover of the spray.”

“So that’s the species of her pokemon.” Hayato mumbled softly as he closed the gear and wore it around his neck. Apparently Ducklett would have to forever live their life with a face looking as idiotic as Psyduck until they evolved to their next stage. Mind you, he wasn’t insulting their intelligence. He was simply describing their facial features by using logics over emotion. Anyway, it was time to move on; he concluded after looking up at the sky. It was still bright and clear thanks to the sun, but soon the moon would rise and once again take back its position in the sky and he would like to have done something productive before the day ended.

Thus, he continued walking down the pathway with no specifc destination in mind. He however did hope to get familiar with the area around here as soon as possible. No particular reason. It simply helped him to save more time everytime he came here to explore.
