"G’d onya, Eve." Lafayette praised as the Bulbasaur shuffled back towards him to be healed. Sure it hadn’t gone exactly like she’d expected, but given her lack of type advantage, she had held her own very well. The blonde grinned down at the pokemon, offering up a potion to heal her up before chucking the pokeball to make the catch. There was just one more to go and then they’d be set.
And just like an actor to the stage, the last one appeared. The Hawlucha flipped through the air, landing and smacking Cheri away as it did. Boy, was she really getting the brunt end of everything. Her legs wiggled in the air a moment before she got herself back up, staring at the strange luchador style bird for a moment. It was knelt down in pause as though contemplating its next move.
Unfortunately, it wouldn’t have that chance. Staring at it with that poke face stare for a single second, Cheri promptly rammed her head into its beak face and sent it stumbling flat on its back. Cheri just stared, raising a part to fix the top of her fur before wandering over to find herself a potion. Lafayette just watched, giving her a minor glance. Well… alright then.

Lafayette took a moment to check his watch. All the pictures were greyed out to indicate they’d been caught. He felt a proud grin cross his face. Well, that hadn’t been so tough after all! They deserved a nice treat after this. He glanced over at the incense curiously though, noting the flame still burning away. They still had a bit of time it seemed; which meant just a bit more training. Fighting types were still clambering up the sides of the mountain to get up to them after all.
That was just fine with him. "A’igh’ all. Go feh it." He gestured, indicating they were free to fight as they saw fit. Cheri had healed herself up in the meantime and was already toddling out to face the still oncoming horde of fighters. She would happily continue to knock their blocks off as needed.

Cheri stared at the fallen Mankey a moment before snapping her attention to another one. They seemed to be coming in droves together, like collective packs. It was interesting, if not futile. She was now a little bit stronger and a little bit quicker than them. Which meant they were for the most part, faces full of pink fluff headbutts. What a shame.

Another Mankey fell to the mighty zen headbutt of Cheri. Really, this was becoming incredibly easy. The poor creatures weren't even able to get a scratch on her. They weren't even able to look at her very long to determine what exactly she was, what was going on or what had knocked them the hell out. That'd been the case at least for the next Mankey that appeared. It was kind of curious that all these monkey things were showing up...

Eve watched as Cheri went about routinely head-butting everything that happened to show its face over the edge. She was… really a tough one wasn’t she? Her expression never wavered either, which was what really caught the Bulbasaur off guard. She was pretty sure she’d be flinching from all the painful strikes that the Espurr was taking. Yet that poker face remained. It was eerie. Really eerie.
Her attention shifted though at the sound of noise from her side. It appeared that the Mankey threat was attempting to spread out in order to climb up properly, finding that the single stream lined method was not getting them very far. Eve stared at the monkey a moment before finally getting to her own feet and preparing to launch into battle. She couldn’t just sit around and watch everyone else battle after all!

Eve shook off the pain from the scratches. She would've thought she'd do a little better but... she was still standing and the Mankey wasn't so, really that was a win. While she tried to recover though, another Mankey appeared just off to the side and was preparing to strike her while she was recovering. Before it could even launch an attack though, Dova had whipped her way between it and Eve, head tilting curiously before she let forth a harsh burst of sound, sending it flying off the edge. Silly monkey, did it think no one was watching?

Eve looked at Dova in startled surprise, watching as the Mankey fled from the scene of the crime. She gave a wide stare at the dragon, who simply eyed her and gave a goofy grin of her own in return. She whipped and wrapped around the Bulbasaur, bopping her head against hers but in a far gentler manner than before. Eve was still a little startled, but took the gesture for what it was; a protective one, meant to indicate that the Noivern had the bulb pokemon’s back.
Dova’s attention snapped up as yet another Mankey appeared, head tilting and moving between the Bulbasaur and the enemy before quickly dispatching of it. Eve had to wonder what that move was. It was really powerful…

While Dova watched out for Eve, Cheri continued with her blank faced rampage. She had come to notice the Mankey’s spreading themselves thin in order to avoid her and so had taken up to patrolling the ledge where she heard sounds. It took a minute or two, they were clearly slowing their attacks in order to avoid obliteration, but eventually another Mankey climbed up.
It didn’t even have a chance to crawl up the edge though as its gaze met the fierce pink one of Cheri. She stared a moment, head tilting a bit before she offered a little wave goodbye and gave him a sendoff much like his companions.

They were slowing down now. Which was sad but good. It would be time soon for them to head out and whether Cheri was getting a headache or not from all her head bashing was anyone’s guess. She seemed perfectly fine, to be honest. She hadn’t even needed to come back for a potion to heal up. No she seemed far more dedicated to smashing down whatever remaining foes she could.

A few minutes passed and it became clear that now was quiet time. Lafayette watched a moment, mix-matched gaze checking every which way. He had expected, after that recent horde of Mankeys, that there would be another horde of some other species. But that didn’t seem to be the case. For now, it was quiet which was a change of pace.
"S’pose it’s time we shot through." he murmured as he got to his feet, brushing off the seat of his pants. Noah gave a little cheer, running and standing in front of him before turning and waving the still burning candle about like a sort of signal to the others. Eve toddled over and Dova slunk along with her. Even Micah opened an eye to see what was going on, though remained seated where he was. Only Cheri seemed to ignore the summons, gaze still over the edge of the ridge. She clearly expected more fights to be had and was waiting for them. Lafayette frowned, walking over and grabbing the Espurr by the back of her fur. "C’mon Cheri. Time ta leave." The Espurr didn’t struggle, her head simply twisting to look over her shoulder and up at him with that blank pink stare. Lafayette stared back, an eyebrow quirking in response before he rolled his eyes and chucked her back towards the group.
"Back in yeh pokes. C’mon mates." He remarked, pulling their balls out and returning them one by one. Noah went last of course, but seemed a bit at ease since he could take his candle with him. He’d be out again soon enough. Huffing, Lafayette set the balls back on his belt and took one look around. The incense was still going… eventually it’d die out right? He strode over and picked it up, eyeing it a moment and grimacing at the smell. It really was terrible. He’d chuck the thing in the garbage once he got down. Doing his best to wrap it and muffle the smell, he stored it away and set about looking for a way back down. He’d hit up the pokemon center first to make sure his team was primed and proper and then it was off to challenge the gym.

It was a lot easier getting down than it was going up but well, that made sense. Falling down a mountain side was a lot easier than climbing one. Of course, Lafayette didn’t fall and dropped the last foot or so on purpose once he was cleared to do so.
With a grunt he straightened up and looked about, locating the familiar roof top of the Pokemon Center and heading in that direction. He was double checking his Xtransceiver only to notice that the list from earlier was completely gone. Whatever the program had been, apparently it knew to delete the information once the task had been finished. Huh. Interesting. Lafayette gave a furious frown, shrugging and dropping his arm as he stepped inside. Going straight up to the counter he handed all his pokemon over to the nurse, stepping aside and waiting while they were properly healed up.

It was apparently going to be a bit of a wait, the Nurse Joy on duty was out on break leaving matters of pokemon healing in the hands of her Chansey, and so Lafayette decided to browse the marketplace for some goods. He was still running low on money, but he had just enough to buy some discount items sitting in a bargain bin. Because that was what you did; buy bargain goods to help your pokemon. Or something.
Most of the items weren’t all that useful to him, at least not that he knew. There was some melted chocolates, some orb that was warm to the touch, a gem, some stones, some pokeballs and what he was starting to think might’ve been on the verge of expiring milk. Either way though, it was all rather cheap. He’d find a use for it later. The clerk was even kind enough to throw in a few of those scales that Cheri had managed to find earlier; a nice bonus. Now those were useful.

Purchases made the blonde headed back to the Pokemon center, arriving just in time to be greeted by the Chansey working the counter. She gave a ‘Chansey!’ as she extended the tray with his pokeballs out to him. Lafayette grinned and thanked her, taking the balls and waving before stepping back out.
Immediately he unleashed Noah, the Oshawott shaking his head a cheering at the freedom. With a quick scoop he plopped the otter on his shoulder and started to make his way back towards where the gym was located. In his hand he rolled Eve’s pokeball, a thoughtful look on his face. She hadn’t gotten quite as much training in as the others but judging by the place and the bit of information he had discovered, she’d do just fine against the gym leader. He was apparently very big on rocks. Grass was good against that kind of thing. Plus she had that powerful move to use. It was perfect. He’d be in and out in no time.
