Elizabeth was back in the southern side of Lumiose City again, knowing that she had been here only a couple of minutes ago. But this is a big city so of course there would be some exits only on one side of Lumiose after all. Suddenly she had felt something poke her leg, looking down to see that it was a Jolteon that was trying to get her attention. "What is it? Do you want something?" she asked the pokemon, wondering what they could want with her. The Jolteon cried, jumping and then running around, motioning for her to do the same. "You want me to play with you?" Elizabeth asked, figuring that might be it as the pokemon nodded back happily. "Okay, I can play for a little bit." she said as she started playing with them. They were running around the streets, playing tag and hide-and-seek while having a lot of fun together. It wasn't long before she got tired out while the Jolteon still had plenty of energy. "Sorry, but I'm tired and I should really get going. See you." she had told the Jolteon, going to leave but again she felt her leg being poked, seeing as the pokemon was following her. "Do you want to come with me?" Elizabeth then asked them as Jolteon cried and nodded back quickly. "Okay then. For your name, I'll call you Yarrow." she said as the Jolteon jumped in joy at the name. This made her giggle, taking out a pokeball and gently tossing it at the Jolteon. It move three times before it clicked, having caught the pokemon as they transferred to her PC. Cool, now she has another Eevee evolution. But she will have to train them up as well, thinking that she should really stop catching all of these weaker pokemon. She can't help it though if she finds cute pokemon that she wants to have and that these pokemon want to be with her as well.

Elizabeth knew that she needed to go to the Pokemon Center again, to switch out Leilani for Yarrow. She can't exactly be training with Leilani out in public, considering that they are a Mythical pokemon and she doesn't want the word getting out that she has them, somehow getting back to her father and Team Void. That is the last thing she needs is to give her father another reason to come after her more, knowing how dangerous it would be if they got their hands on a Mythical pokemon. So she then headed on over to the Pokemon Center, walking inside and going straight towards the PC. From there, she had placed Leilani in there and got back Yarrow so she can train them too. But with all this running around that she has just done and that difficult battle that she did earlier, she wanted to relax a little bit before she would finally leave Lumiose City.

So Elizabeth had left the Pokemon Center, looking around for another cafe like the one she went to with Zero. Soon she found one, going inside as she went up to the counter and ordered a lemonade. It came out quickly before she sat down at one of the tables, taking sips of her drink while glancing out at the window. She could see how bustling the city is, thinking that this would be a great place for her to live if she weren't on the run from her father after all. Now Elizabeth was wondering how her mother was doing, knowing that she must be worried sick since she had left so suddenly without a word where she was going. Poor mom, she was also being deceived by him as well, hoping that he won't do anything to her at all. Once she had finished her lemonade, she threw the cup away and then headed back outside. She was exploring around a bit, finding a clothing store as she took a quick look inside of there. But she was quite surprised to find so many cute and fashionable clothes, trying some stuff on just to see. In the end, Elizabeth couldn't resist buying one clothing item; a black, long-sleeve, knee-length dress as she paid for it before leaving the store. Okay, now that she has gotten to relax for a little while, it is time to head out. So she decided that she would go towards the next town, Camphrier Town as she headed in the direction of the exit going that way and walked through it.

It wasn’t long until he was passing through the route gate from South Lumiose to Santalune. Surprisingly enough, they really were neighboring cities it seemed as the trek didn’t take him nearly as long as the white-haired lad had expected. Which was good, because the weight of sleep was becoming too strong for him to bear. It took a lot of focus to keep moving along at a brisk pace while tired and not accidentally trip in the process. But with good fortune he maintained his balance. Just a little farther to go and they’d be at the next pokemon center in no time.

Once Zero went his seperate ways with Elizabeth, in truth, he wasn't too sure what to do. He wandered about the city, quietly scanning the world around him as he passed, Nova at his side while Nevermoor literally stood in his shadow. He had a full tank, but nothing to spend his energy on, not knowing what to do or even what he could do. He just... didn't know what to think of anymore. All he could do was keep his mind from wandering too much, trying not to think of what Isis was doing in that moment, undoubtedly still spending time with the raven-haired lifeguard.

Hm... Ghosts might actually be a good idea though. He's always kinda liked spirits and ghosts and the like, and they always seem to calm him down. It can't be actual horror or need to be a spooky theme, but just something that he can just sit down and enjoy the distraction, at least. Like a bunch of cartoon ghost cut outs or cup cakes that are kinda shaped like a sock ghost.

After walking down the varioius alleyways, glancing through the windows of all the shops, and the main roads that lead into the massive Prism tower, Zero finally decided to stop and rest for a moment. He moved into one of the plazas connecting the main roads, stopping in front of one of the fountains to watch the water cascade from the pump in the center. He watched it flow and crash for a few moments, before letting out a small breath, turning to his Gardevoir brandishing her pokeball from his waist. "We're gonna rest here for a bit, alright?" Nova gave a small nod, and with a soft click, the ball shot out a beam of energy to envelope the psychic-type, before pulling her back into the orb. Setting her ball back onto his belt, the young man stepped over to one of the plain, wooden benches in front of the fountain, vacant as a sparse few people walked about in the streets, a chilled wing blowing through slowly and calmly. It was almost another year, huh?

It didn’t take long to get back, though Noel was once more reminded that Lumiose was huge and that he had to travel across it just to make it to the train station. At the moment, he was lucky it wasn’t too busy and so he could travel the streets rather unimpeded. Algernon and Pikachu kept pace at his heels, which was good because the last thing he wanted was to become separated from his pokemon.

"You know, I still need to find a name for you…," Noel commented as they walked, glancing back at Pikachu as he did. The little yellow rodent perked up, her ears wiggling as she looked at Noel. She didn’t seem to care too much about the name issue but the fact that he was bringing it up again did make her think. He was thinking too and even Algernon looked at Pikachu as well, though whether he had any name suggestions or not though wasn’t obvious.

xxxxxxxFor some time, Zero sat in near silence, quietly relaxing alone on the bench in the plaza. Now that the sudden outburst of wild pokemon had subsided, the city itself seemed rather calm and quiet, with people walking calmly from one place to another, cars and the like humming a short distance away, and overall, the usual buzz of the city seemed to be low this day. It made it easy to relax a bit, and gave the young trainer time to think… About what, he did not know. He pushed unpleasant thoughts about Isis and what she’d be doing right now out of his mind, yet he knew not what else to rest his mind on. The search for Alex had gradually fallen out of his thoughts, even he himself recognizing that if something truly terrible had happened, she’d probably have been found by now. His old friend could take care of herself, he trusted in that at least. But that still left him without a focus, nothing to put his mind to, nothing he could truly…
xxxxxxx”Excuse me,” a voice suddenly snapped the young man out of his musings, and he glanced up to his left to see a large gentleman, standing in front of the bench. ”Would you mind if I sat here? Or is this seat taken?” The tall man easily towered over Zero, standing dangerously close to six feet tall if he had to guess, with rather broad shoulders. If he had to choose one word to describe the man’s features, it would’ve been angular, as his jaw descended sharply, and his chin was wide and pronounced, almost giving his head the shape of a cardboard box. A short head of deep azure capped him off, the hair stopping just before the nape of his neck while his bangs fell loose and straight just over his forehead. The man’s eyes were clear, sporting dark irises of jet black, yet open wide to evaporate any sense of foreboding when looking into them. In fact, they seemed quite friendly, if he had to say so. The man’s nose was just as sharp and angular as his jaw, hardly noticeable when compared to the large, almost goofy smile just below, grinning almost like a father stepping into a room of kids.
xxxxxxx”Oh, no, it’s fine,” Zero finally replied, after only a moment’s pause. ”It’s just me today, so go ahead.” The young man motioned for the other side of the bench, long enough to be able to seat about three people around Zero’s size. After a short nod, the larger male nodded his head thankfully, his smile widening momentarily before he took a seat, placing his briefcase down at his feet. He took up about half of all the space on the entire wooden construct, the materials audibly straining and whining about the added weight for a few moments, before he settled in, and their seat quieted. The older gentleman wasn’t exactly overweight––In fact, judging by how tightly the black suit he wore traced the details of his form, his body seemed quite defined. Almost like a living stereotype for the buff, strong dad the silver haired male vaguely remembered seeing back in old cartoons. There was just something about the air around him that seemed… calming, almost like he had a smothering aura about him, one of friendly trust.
xxxxxxxWhen he was finally seated and leaned back into his chair, the man let out a large breath, clearly tired from whatever he had spent the day doing up till this point. ”Ah… Thank you, I think I’ve been on my feet all day.” After stretching out one of his arms, the older gentleman turned his head over to Zero, finally introducing himself. ”They call me Sorte, I take it you’re not from around here?”
xxxxxxxThe trainer nodded in response, extending his closest hand out for the older male to shake. ”Zero. My name’s Zero. And yeah, I actually just arrived in Lumiose again a few minutes ago. How could you tell?”
xxxxxxx”Nice to meet you, Zero.” The man moved to accept the handshake, his hand proving to be nearly double, perhaps even triple the size of Zero’s, each finger almost as thick as a thin sausage. His grip was firm, but fortunately he didn’t put much force behind it, so it didn’t feel crushing. ”You’ve got a certain look about you, is all,” he explained, leaning back into his armrest once they finished the greeting. ”It seems quite dull now, but I can make out quite a glint in your eyes, the kind of a traveler… Someone who’s yet to finish their journey.”

xxxxxxxThere was a pause. The younger male raised a brow, before quietly sighing, shutting his eyes. “...Then perhaps those eyes aren’t in the best shape. I’ve already gathered all the badges I intend to collect, and I don’t have anything else planned for the immediate future…” He slowly turned back as he spoke, opening his eyes to glance at the fountain behind them, still pumping out water autonomously without a break. ”There really shouldn’t be anything to see in mine… At best, all you saw were embers.”
xxxxxxxDespite Zero’s somber tone, Sorte’s smile didn’t fade, and only nodded in understanding as the young man spoke. He let out a low, thoughtful hum, before replying. ”Well, just because you collected your badges doesn’t mean your journey has to be over.” He raised one of his hands, pointing upwards simply as a gesture. ”Tell me, why did you start on your journey in the first place?”
xxxxxxxZero rose his brow again. It wasn’t an uncommon question, in fact he himself almost always asked it whenever he met someone new. What harm could come from answering it himself? ”...I set out to grow stronger,” he began. ”I wanted to be able to protect the people closest to me, and keep myself safe enough to do just that… Yet I can’t help but feel like I’ve only gone backwards on that goal.” He glanced down at his belt, at the row of pokeballs that lined its side. ”I feel as if… I’ve grown weaker.”
xxxxxxxSorte nodded understandingly, his arms crossing over each other as the young man elaborated. ”In that case, you simply haven’t completed your journey.” Zero blinked, turning his gaze to the older man in small surprise, which he merely chuckled at. ”Don’t look so surprised! Afterall, you just said you set out to grow stronger didn’t you? If you don’t think you’re powerful enough yet, then that just means you haven’t reached the end of your path.” He brought up one of his hands to raise a finger, as if he hadn’t finished just yet. ”Besides, when you’re motivated on power alone, odds are you’ll either find something else to devote that strength to, or become a very cold person. Power alone has a habit of tearing someone away from what they set out to do... Do you have some time? There’s a story I think I should share with you.”

xxxxxxxYou see, I’ve been around for quite a long time. I may not look it, but I’ve lived a very long life, and I have walked among giants. Their names are scarcely remembered, and it is quite uncommon to meet people who truly match them in power and humility. They were a special lot, not the kind you’d expect to gather and form such a tight nit group… But them coming together was far from their strangest feature. I traveled with them, back in my day, from one corner of the earth to another. We fought in battles without stories, discovered peoples who’s timeless monuments had long since crumbled to dust. I’ve seen countless impossible things, and met forces that would humble any who truly understood what was before them. That life was turbulent, don’t get me wrong, but I would never for a moment consider discarding it.
xxxxxxxBut among those giants––Men who wrenched themselves from the jaws of death, women who leaped through time itself, and children who tamed beasts that could quite easily rend this world into the void––there was one who stood well beyond his kin. By all measures, he was the strongest. His team tore through all who challenged him, he himself proved enough mental fortitude to repel even the strongest psychics from his mind, and the man himself was nothing to scoff at. He could lift you– Well, perhaps it’d be more impressive to say he could lift me and still have the strength to run a mile. He dedicated himself to getting stronger, to reaching the peak of his abilities, and when that wasn’t enough? He found ways to push himself even further.
xxxxxxxAnd you know what? He actually did it. But it was at such an awful, terrible cost. As he pushed himself further, the others followed close behind, not to match his strength, but to simply keep up with him. They just wanted to stay by his side and help him reach his goals, for the most part. But the road he walked was little more than a path of tragedy. First someone got hurt, and he leaped in to protect them. He got stronger after that. Then everyone got hurt, it was so bad that no one could even get to their feet… Then he did. Forced himself forward and fought back. He won, and he got stronger. Then we died.
xxxxxxxOne by one, those great giants, the kinds people like me kid themselves thinking they can help, found something even they couldn’t beat. Usually he wasn’t around for one reason or another, or he was wounded first, but everyone found their own personal monster. I watched one of my friends be burned alive protecting him, in fact, from one of those monsters. Or another one died of their injuries after we finally escaped a terrible conflict, one that cost us yet another, when their sacrifice let us get away… We went back there, you know? To the last place we found them. They were still standing there, they died on their feet… It’s just, we only found their feet to remain. But each time they fell, as our numbers dwindled like the stars in the sky…
xxxxxxxHe just kept getting stronger. What other option did he have. With every “I’ll leave the rest to you,” or “I’ll entrust you with this,” he was forced to put even more force behind each step. The weight on his shoulders grew exponentially, and he grew to wear all the pain and suffering like a cowl… He shrouded himself in it, but it gave him strength nonetheless. Every time, he would always rebound with double the strength he had before, demolishing everything in his path with the power they entrusted with him… Just once, I heard him say beneath his breath, “If only they knew what it was like to stand like this.”
xxxxxxxBut he reached his goal, in the end. When all was said and done, once there was no one left to fight, and only we remained, he was truly the “strongest.” But by that time, the power he grasped for so dearly, the strength to protect all that he held dear… That power became a curse. When he drew breath, the air chilled like it would soon snow. When he blinked, the wind roared. And with each, long stride, he left the earth scarred, leaving none unharmed simply by his mere presence. But wasn’t what crippled him with fear. No… There was something far more precious that he could not bear to see destroyed by his strength…
xxxxxxxHe had kids. Before things got so bad, I mean. The mother was no one special, just an average woman who captured his heart. They weren’t involved in all the terrible things we went through, or the battles that cost us so much, but they knew what happened… The fact that she understood and remained at his side when she could be there seemed like it was enough, even when he couldn’t bear to come close to her anymore. He feared that they might be harmed someday, that they might join the ranks of those who “Entrusted.” So started to wear a mask, long and clear, that adhered to his features so close, that one might’ve thought that they were sculpted over the source.
xxxxxxxBy the time he returned, he realized something; the little ones, who wore both his and the face of their mother, with shimmering eyes that reminded him of what he once was, he could not touch them, for fear that they might be crushed under the weight he carried. I think it was then, that precise moment, when he truly felt his lowest, deepest sorrow. When was by all accounts, the absolute strongest.
xxxxxxxI only saw him one, final time after that. We spoke alone, in a place that only we would remember… Where we laid those memories to rest. He said a lot that night. About our old friends, about us, and about what it was like to be strong… As well as something he realized. To him, he realized, there were two types of strength. What he had was strength that only came from himself, one so far removed from others that he doubted he’d even feel a hard slap on his back in those days. Sure, the dead pushed him forward, but it wasn’t the strong bonds or their memories that got him there. It was just his failures, and his own pain that kept him getting stronger and stronger. Rather than a push, it was more like a lashing, one that left long, terrible scars across his back. That kind of strength didn’t require anyone else, but it was for that very reason that it was so terrible. He had the force of an entire mountain behind his fists, but when it all done, and he uncurled his palm, that power still remained as he went to embrace his child.
xxxxxxxBut then there was another kind of strength, one that so desperately wished he held in his hands. One that requires you to borrow the power of those who’s hands are pressed firmly against your back. Your fist may seem small, but when you try to throw a punch, you’ll feel another’s racing beside it, with more and more that come from the people by your side. Even if you’re weak, and your punches are light… They’ll make sure to make that blow feel so much heavier, and when you fall or stumble, they’ll be the ones to make you get back up on your own two feet. They’ll push you forward, hold you up, and make that small fist grow big enough to shatter anything in front of you. It won’t all be your own strength, sure, but that’s what makes it so special; you don’t have to carry the burden all on your own. Even if you carry a weight that no one else could know about, even if you’re all alone in your darkest hour… You’ll feel it. Swelling in your chest, and allowing you to stand above the rest. No “Entrusting” required.
xxxxxxxWhen all was said and done, that man told me he’d be going away for a while. That he’d disappear somewhere, until he could reign in his own power, and until he was weak enough. So that the wind did not roar when he blinked. I haven’t seen him since, but I can feel him, you know? Rather hard to ignore––What with those large hands of his––when it’s such a staggering force. Do you know what his last words to me were? Before he disappeared from my world?

xxxxxxxBy now, Zero sat with a earnest stoicism, quietly listening to the man’s story as he chronicled a life that, even in its abridged state, resonated somewhat. Details were obviously embellished, and it was quite clear that Sorte’s use of hyperbole was very liberal, but it certainly got the point across. Although, he did find the lesson of it mildly curious––About those two forms of strength, and how the man worded the second sounded so… familiar. He reflexively glanced back, as he thought he felt something on his back for the briefest instant. Nothing was there, of course, but he still couldn’t help but be reminded of something, but what, he did not know.

Olivia chuckled at Vince's observation, certainly unable to disagree with him there. "What can I say? I'm just a beacon of safety to wild pokemon," she joked, then scratched Pichu's ear for added effect. Though Vince hadn't included it, the Honedge she'd met at the fair also counted towards the list of wild pokemon, which reminded her that she needed to start training it, and that Torchic she'd gotten earlier. Lucky for them they were headed out to Hoenn soon, she could switch out some of her team and start training other pokemon.
Blue huffed and shook his head, Xiu Feng's explanation for Vince not enough to appease him. Still though... he wouldn't push the subject. She didn't seem too upset by her trainer's words, and it wasn't as if he had brought any harm on her; not that he thought he would. Vince... Vince wasn't a threat, that much he could tell. ("What kind of duty do you two have?") Blue asked, deciding that, if they couldn't play, they could at least talk. ("And why does it involve you always being with him?") He could, maybe, understand being within the same vicinity, or leaving each other where they could later meet back up, but from what Blue had observed Xiu Feng went everywhere her trainer went. Except the one room where the water ran... The shiny Lupup's ear twitched and he looked up curiously at the humans. ("I hope he gets over it soon, whatever it is..") he grumbled, more for Xiu Feng's sake than his.
Olivia couldn't help but to chuckle as Vince asked for a review of their plans, since his memory was still a bit hazy from the night before; though he was able to recall.. well, nearly everything, by himself. "Yup. Cyllage, the gym and then to Hoenn. Fortree City to be exact," she elaborated with a smile. "Maybe you should try and find a way to write this stuff down, the next time we go drinking. Just so you can remember," she teased. After a quick yawn, which she covered up, the woman changed the subject. "Hey, would you be interested in taking on anymore pokemon?" she inquired, slowly. "Haxorus to be specific. It's not that I wouldn't be willing to train it, because I am, I just thought that you might have a better idea of what to do, you being the dragon tamer and all." Of course, even if Vince was willing to take on Haxorus, she'd still have to get the dragon to agree. Which, she couldn't imagine being too hard. In Olivia's mind, those two went well together.

Vince scoffed lightly as Olivia insisted she was a beacon of safety for wild pokemon. "Yes, perhaps Xiǎo Lǎn also came into the distortion world because she was attracted to your beacon." He suggested, amused. As they made their way out of the center and into the southern half of Lumiose, Vince reviewed their plan for what felt like the millionth time, but Olivia humored him at least, elaborating that they had specifically decided to travel to Fortree City. A spark of recognition flashed in Vince's eye as he heard the city's name. "Ah, yes, and Sky Pillar as well yes?" He asked, though shook his head as Olivia suggested they write their plans down next time they went drinking. "There won't be a next time..." Vince grumbled, rubbing his head. He was still getting over last night, he couldn't even imagine wanting to go through it again any time soon. Suddenly though Olivia changed the subject, asking if he would be interested in taking that haxorus that had joined them in the fair, since he might have a better idea of what to do with it. "It would be a bit unorthodox, but I wouldn't mind taking her on if she would have me." He said after some quiet debate.
