There was little Matteo could do but stand and watch as his Shelgon was thoroughly humiliated, its Outrage in vein as the much bigger dragon toyed with it. At first the Growlithe hybrid was angered as he watched his own dragon get played for a fool, mocked. However the more it went on the more it sunk in how big of a gap there was between not only the two dragons but also the two young hybrids. Not only did Tristen have stronger, more obedient Pokemon than him but he was also himself more talented, more experienced. Tristen was better than him.
"Gooon!" Shelgon roared in defiance as the Dragonite charged up its attack, the Endurance Pokemon too inexperienced to realize the danger it was in, provided it wasn't blinded by its rage at the moment. In this moment Matteo never felt closure to his Shelgon, they were both nothing but embers standing before a rising sun. The light of the charging Hyper Beam sparkled in Matteo's eyes.
It happened suddenly and with devastating effect, the Hyper Beam crashed down upon Shelgon from above, as if it was the wrath of Arceus itself, the Alpha Pokemon having judged them both was unworthy and now delivered upon them its Judgement. With a thunderous sound a large explosion resulted upon impact with Shelgon, a bright light flashing into existence, everyone present forced to look away or otherwise be temporarily blinded. Once the light had subsided all that could be seen was a massive cloud of dust lingering over the battlefield, Matteo unable to see his Pokemon let alone Tristen but what he could see was the obviously victorious Dragonite hovering in the air, symbolic of how far above it and its trainer was in terms of skill and power. Matteo snarled for a second at the Dragonite before his conscious turned his attention back to his Pokemon somewhere in that cloud. Poor Shelgon.
As the dust began to settle everyone could see the damage as Shelgon was now laying knocked out, laying in a crater in the middle of the battlefield. Ms. Dendra knew there was no way that Shelgon would survive the Hyper Beam but even she was taken back by how much power the dragon possessed. After looking up at Dragonite, to Shelgon, and then between Matteo and Tristen she rose a hand in the air pointing at Tristen. "Shelgon is no longer able to battle! Matteo is out of available Pokemon! Tristen is the winner!" She declared.
The student body would jump to their feet and break out into roaring applause for Tristen, cheering for him and his victory, amazed by the boy and his dragon's showing. Tristen could even hear Nemona screaming louder than all the rest as she pumped her fist into the air, chanting his name. E and B were also screaming at the top of their little lungs, Fela standing next to them, having shown up to watch at some point.
While Tristen received all this applause Matteo solemnly took out his Pokeball and recalled his Pokemon, a whirlwind of emotions churning in his heart and mind. He'd give Tristen and Dragonite one final look and realized what the problem was; he wanted to be them. How badly did he want to be them, be his father too. But now he has failed at both. Turning around he'd make his way for the entrance to the academy. He didn't need to see the rest of this, he just wanted to get out of here as quick as possible.
With this victory the final match was decided, Tristen vs Nemona. The Champion rank trainer couldn't wait for this battle.

Tristen ended up having to turn away the second the beam made impact on his target. The dust and debris started to fly, Dragonite’s power made all too apparent. He then looked back towards the field and could only sigh. This fight was over. At this point, Tristen had the feeling that even with the Shelgon put in his place and Matteo being delivered a harsh dose of reality, this wasn’t quite over in the long term. Tristen still had classes with Matteo. B, E, and Fela were still friends with Matteo…presumably. Today would more than likely only serve to make things all the more awkward from here on. The only solace that Tristen had was anything that happens from there on was not going to be his fault…presumably as well. He tried to show Matteo the error in his ways. It was up to Matteo to actually learn from it. Though as he learned also in his time with Snagem, such a lesson is not easily learned.
The attack over, the devastation wrought, and victory proclaimed by Ms. Dendra, Dragonite lofted back down to the ground to recover from his Hyper Beam shot. Tristen walked over towards his Dragonite and leaned up against him, practically giving the big dragon a hug. Tristen still didn’t feel great about the whole thing. He tried to brace himself for the emotional impact of this battle well before getting into this battle, but still held on to hope that things would have maybe turned out good in the end. That this could have been a battle that could have been enjoyable in the end after all. It wasn’t meant to be. “Arro.” His Dragonite spoke up. Tristen looked up giving him a couple of pats on the boy’s back, nearly knocking Tristen forward over, which managed to get a smile back on Tristen’s face.
“Thanks, Dragonite.” He said. “You did good too, you know.” He said returning the gesture. “Might want to get ready. Next battle is supposed to be really tough from what I heard. Though at least this battle is probably going to be a bit more enjoyable since its under better circumstances. I’ll try to not let this battle get the better of me.”
“Aro.” Dragonite replied back.
“Come back for now, alright?” he would recall Dragonite back to his Pokeball, looking back at the crater and across the field. Matteo had already recalled his Pokémon and bailed out from the battlefield. Probably from the entire rec yard. Once again, Tristen sighed then proceeded off to back to get his Pokémon tended to once again in preparation for the next battle. Tristen would have plenty of time trying to get his Pokémon taken care of. Because of Dragonite’s powerful attack, there would be a quick run over of the battlefield to smooth out the crater formed by Dragonite’s Hyper Beam. Tristen was still hearing everyone clamoring over the battle that transpired; excited for the battle between Tristen and Nemona and Tristen started to wish that this tournament never had to happen for him. To think…this all started because of a rumor. Tristen tried to insist he wasn’t as good as people gave him credit for, but after that display against Matteo, perhaps any notion of that was lofty at best. The rumors were confirmed. Tristen couldn’t hide it anymore: he could battle with the best of them, or at least against the top trainers in this school as far as the student body was concerned. Tristen, for better or for worse, had to just embrace it at this point. It was just the matter now of just trying to at least have boundaries established. If such a thing was possible. He didn’t want to be a celebrity here; he still just wants to be a regular student. After today, it might be rather hard to be one here.
Once his Pokémon were once again ready to go, Tristen would make his way back for the battlefield to get ready for the final battle of this competition.

By the time Tristen made it back to the battlefield he'd note that there were way more people in attendance, both students and faculty alike. Fela along with the twins would run up to Tristen before he stepped into his box, the twins forcing a hug on him. "They wanted to wish you luck, and so did I." Fela explained to the hybrid, giving the boy a little thumb's up.
"You can do it Tristen!" E. declared as he looked up at the hybrid.
"Yeah! You're really strong!" B. concurred, also looking up almost lovingly at Tristen.
"A lot more people showed up to watch this battle, as you already know word spreads quick in this school." Fela laughed, pointing out the much larger audience. "No pressure though! Just do your best and I hope you won't let the stuff with Matteo bother you. Just get out there and give Nemona the battle she craves. Now, come on guys." The girl said, nudging the twins to come along. The mouse boys would give Tristen one last squeeze before running off for the bleachers, Fela walking behind them. "...I wish Matteo would have stayed to watch..." She sighed.
Now able to focus on the battlefield in front of him he'd find Nemona waiting for him, the girl grinning from ear-to-ear. Ms. Dendra was also there waiting on the sidelines. "You sure surprised the entire school, Tristen!" Nemona called out to the boy, a Pokeball clutched in her gloved hand. "I'm so happy you came to our school! I haven't been this excited for a battle in awhile. Now come on, show me what you and your Pokemon can do!" Nemona insisted.
"Final round! Reigning Student Champion Nemona of Cabo Poco vs Tristen of Mahagony Town! Winner will be declared the next Student Champion and receive the grand prize of a Tera Orb! Normal rules apply otherwise! Trainers, release your Pokemon and begin!" Ms. Dendra announced from the side of the field.
"Goodra, let's get this battle started!" Nemona cried out as she tossed her first Pokemon onto the field, starting out strong as she released her dragon slug Pokemon, the Goodra letting out a happy cheer as it appeared with its tail wagging. Both Pokemon and trainer were having fun already.

As soon as Tristen was about to clear the bleachers, he couldn’t help but to stare in a bit of confusion. People. Lots of them now. All coming to see the fated fight between the champion and Tristen. Tristen truthfully didn’t imagine a bunch of people showing up out of nowhere, imagining that whoever was here to begin with at the start of this. He was broken out of his trance once the twins practically bombarded him with a hug. “Hey there you two.” He said. At this point, Tristen was rolling with it, an arm around each of the twins. He then looked over towards Fela as she spoke up to him. “Yea, really…I didn’t think that anyone else would have showed up to this. Though…I wonder if people expect me to beat Nemona now…” Tristen said. “I’m really going to try, though. Though thanks for coming over. I appreciate it.” He said, giving a playful rub on the twins’s heads. Tristen had a slight realization however…he was left to wonder if Matteo actually reciprocated any sort of friendship to the twins before Tristen showed up. He had been nothing but abrasive as long as he known them all; and Tristen could only assume Matteo has been at his worst over the past few days. The twins practically cling to Tristen like a cluster of Magnemite.
Feeling a bit better from the support of his new friends at this academy, Tristen proceeded on to the battlefield where Nemona was still excitable as anything. Tristen was imagining her frothing with anticipation for the past several days, especially when Leslie ended up slightly spilling about the team. It was almost a reason to not take Nemona seriously but as far as what he had been told and what he had seen so far in this tournament, Nemona was not anyone to be taken lightly. As far as he knew, her Goodra alone was a one-Pokémon show this entire time throughout this entire tournament, which made things look rather dicey for each of his Pokémon. They were good; they showed that much through the entire tournament. But were they going to be able to scratch that proverbial battle itch that Nemona got? Who knows. Only one way to find out.
With Ms. Dendra’s proclamation to start the battle, just as expected Nemona sent out the Goodra for battle. Tristen wasn’t really sure what to send out right away. He did have a couple of outs without having to resort to Dragonite…and it all centered on Tristen’s star of the show so far. “Mienshao! Go!” Tristen called out, tossing the ball out upon the field.
“Shoo!” Mienshao howled out as he waved his arms about, each movement flowed like water as he took his battle stance, ready to square off against the Goodra.
“Careful with this one Mienshao! That Pokémon has really done some work in this tournament all by itself! He’s going to be tougher than even that Tauros from earlier!” Tristen warned to his Pokémon.
“Me-shooo…” Mienshao switched stances just then, taking heed to that word of caution. He needed to stay on guard. If this thing was worse than the bull, then all the stops was probably going to have to be pulled out. As far as Tristen could figure, give the Goodra all manner of damage and if things get dicey, get him to of there with his U-Turn. All easier said, obviously.
“Alright, Mienshao! Use Fake Out!” Tristen shouted. Mienshao quickly dashed off towards the dragon, juking about trying to keep the Goodra off its mark. Once Mienshao closed the gap, the Mienshao managed to give one hard slap right in the Goodra’s face to expose it. Usually at this point, Tristen would have commanded a High Jump Kick just as he did to the Probopass and the Tauros earlier. However, Tristen and Mienshao still had a card to play, courtesy of the Snagem’s trip to Galar. Mienshao sprung off the top of the Goodra’s, head and landed back down on the battlefield as the Goodra tried to get its senses back together. “Triple Axel!” He then shouted.
“SHO!” Feet frosting up, Mienshao rushed again for the Goodra and then thrusted in with a kick, and in full combination form, landed his strike, pivoting to deliver a harsher blow, then finally, finishing its combination with a harsh frosty flip kick. Each blow, scaling up the dragon until its last strike, landing back down on the ground to look back at his handiwork. At this point, Tristen was hoping that was a lot of damage. Tristen practically showed off all the cards Mienshao effectively had at this point through this tournament save for a Poison Jab attack. Nemona had to be paying close attention to his Mienshao this entire time and she was probably not going to allow too many crushing attacks to get through if she could help it.

Goodra would be taken back by the random slap to its face, the slug dragon flinching out of sheer surprise though not taking much damage. Next came the devastating series of icy kicks in the form of Triple Axel, the dragon taking each one directly thanks to the Fake Out before hand, the slug letting out a cry of pain with each strike. By the time Mienshao had completed its combo the Goodra was looking way worse for wear, having taken a considerable amount of damage already in this battle, in fact it looked like Goodra was close to fainting already. Many students notice this, the crowd already gasping and murmuring. That said Mienshao would notice with each hit it had collected globs of goo on its body, weighing it down.
Did Tristen actually stand a chance at winning? Nemona herself was shocked to see the kind of power Tristen's Mienshao possessed, just two moves already putting one of her most sturdy Pokemon on the back foot. That said, she did have one card up her sleeve, not to save Goodra but to even the fight. "Wow Tristen! You have done really good with training your Pokemon! I don't Goodra has taken a hit like that since our stint on Victory Road! I'm getting really excited now! Goodra, time to take the kid gloves off! Or should I say, put the glasses on!" Nemona called out to her Pokemon.
With a nod at its trainer Goodra would uncoil its tail revealing a pair Wise Glasses being held by it. The dragon would then stretch its tail out and with the tail place the glasses over its eyes before curling the tail back up. The crowd collectively gasped as it appeared Nemona was getting serious, only having her Pokemon use their held items when she wasn't holding back.
With the glasses in place Nemona gave her next command. "Now Goodra, you're probably not going to be hanging around longer, which makes this battle even more exciting!" She beamed happily, the Goodra giving her a confused look, as if to question why on Earth would she be happy that her Pokemon is about to faint. "So let's make the most of your time! Unleash your full power! Use Draco Meteor!" Nemona cried out as she rose her fist to the sky.
Responding to its trainer's energy the Goodra would let out an almost happy cry as it raised its head to the sky and extending its arms upward, purple Dragon energy flowing up into the air from the Goodra's body, collecting into an ever expanding ball of energy high above the battlefield. In just seconds the ball would grow to enormous size, the students gasping and commenting on its sheer size, some getting nervous and questioning if it was ever going to stop growing, let alone what happens when it comes down. Once the ball stopped growing, now about half the width of the battlefield, Goodra would look down towards Mienshao and grin as it raised a single hand into the air.
"Goo...dra." It said before snapping its fingers, which sounded more like two slabs of wet meat smacking together than a finger snap. With the snap the giant ball would begin to fall towards the battlefield, its shadow quickly growing as it got closer and closer. While it looked like the 'meteor' was simply going to crash into Mienshao it instead exploded halfway to impact and its fragments began to rain down on Mienshao and the area around it in a meteor shower fashion. The attack was so wide ranging from the sheer power put into it plus Mienshao had been slowed down by Goodra's Gooey body.

Tristen could only stare in confusion at first from the context he was hearing. She wasn’t going to take the battle that serious at first? Did she NOT watch the battles up to this point? Apparently seeing the damage that Goodra just from one assault apparently got her to backtrack on that notion quick. But worse was what was happening. Seeing the glasses donned and the attack called made Tristen’s eyes go wide. A Draco Meteor? Not even Dragonite was able to use that attack. Tristen hasn’t even made any efforts to even try teaching that to Dragonite nor did he find the need to. He already had one risky attack in that of Hyper Beam for instance, he didn’t feel the need to stretch out like that. “Mienshao!”
Looking back at his fighting Pokémon, he then started to realize something going on with his Pokémon. Mienshao with a grimace on his face was trying to kick at air followed by trying to swing its arms in random directions, or more aptly trying to shake off the dense goo that stuck to Mienshao’s fur. Tristen was afraid of this when he sent Mienshao out to begin with. Every direct attack risked getting that gooey film all over Mienshao and Mienshao had effectively nothing but direct attacks. “Mienshao, you got to get out of there!” Mienshao looked up away from itself, now realizing what Tristen was yelling about. The attack forming overhead looked all manner of pain. Mienshao tried to run away, if there was any means to run away from such an attack, but between the weight of the goo, let alone how every step had some resistance trying to pull his feet off the ground thanks to the stickiness, the meteors started to make impact upon the battlefield. “Mienshao!” Tristen shouted over the roar of the meteors coming down and making impact upon terra firma.
Tristen couldn’t help but to hold his arms up, trying to shield his eyes from the dust and debris flying from the attack coming down on the field and it was in that moment, Tristen finally grasped the situation. This was in fact Nemona at her best. Everyone that she powered through all the way to this final battle actually stood no chance. She was holding back this entire time and if Tristen was any lesser of a trainer, if his Pokémon were any worse trained, she probably still wouldn’t have unleashed the amount of hell that she was unleashing just as she was now. While Tristen had a relatively easy time at the start of this tournament, Tristen would have to admit it was getting progressively harder and it was only Matteo that forced him to bring out Dragonite sooner than he cared to. This was literally a Snagem level fight at bare minimum right here on a school yard. Tristen had to admit he hadn’t really mentally prepared himself for such a degree of a Pokémon battle. Was it still possible to beat her? Sure. Tristen and his team were really going to have to work for it, however.
Tristen looked back towards the battlefield, fearing the worse had came to Mienshao. Tristen continued to scan the field, trying to see his Mienshao. The dust continued to clear until he saw Mienshao on the battlefield face down. “Mienshao! Mienshao!” He called out to his Mienshao. Mienshao’s ear twitched then slowly pushed himself back up to his feet. Tristen was almost scared to ask his Pokémon’s condition. It was clear as day. The damage was severe. Mienshao was breathing heavily, aching all over from the attack that was unleashed upon it, still generally weighed down by the goo. Tristen was half-tempted while the getting was good to try to get the fighting Pokémon to U-Turn out of there, but to what end? It wasn’t like Mienshao could recover all that well in whatever couple of moments it would have back safe in its Pokeball and it would only serve to put either Rampardos or Dragonite in a tough spot as well. “Mienshao, can you keep going?”
“Me…Me-sho!” Mienshao replied, steeling itself and giving a hard stomping step forward, getting back into its fighting pose, teeth gritted. As tough as Mienshao was acting, there was a bit of a stutter there. There was not much in the tank at all. Tristen wasn’t sure if Mienshao was trying to put on false reassurance to keep him confident or if Mienshao was legit. All Tristen could do is trust his Pokémon just as he always have.
“Alright, Mienshao. Reversal!” He then shouted.
Mienshao started to sprint as best as it could back down towards the field, running straight for the stalwart dragon to deliver its mighty blow.

Mienshao would prove to the crowd its resolve as it still stood after the impact of the Draco Meteor, most of the students gasping in shock while a couple, most of all the twins, hoot and hollered. Even Nemona herself looked surprised that the stout actually survived her Goodra's most powerful attack, the most powerful Dragon type move nonetheless. Once her shocked faded, and it did quickly, it was replaced with pleasure as she smiled wide. "Whoa! You hanged in there! Good job Mienshao!" Nemona complimented her opponent's Pokemon, her own Goodra again looking back at her with a face that spoke many words, none of them polite.
Both Nemona and Goodra quickly turned their attention back to the battle at hand as Tristen declared his next move, both of them instinctively bracing themselves as the Mienshao went on the attack right after, Goodra having no time to do anything about it. Sure, Goodra could use Protect naturally, however Goodra lacked a good priority move or anything else to help it quickly take down Meinshao first so such a move would only delay the inevitable. With a smile she watched as the Fighting type closed and delivered a devastating blow to her dragon, the Goodra bending over in pain as it grabbed its stomach where it was dealt the blow.
"G-goo..." Moaned the dragon as it collapsed to its knees and then fell to the ground. Meinshao had successfully felled the dragon and by doing so Tristen became the first student to knock out one of Nemona's Pokemon.
Almost instantly the crowd went insane, jumping to their feet and began to chant Tristen's name. Those that didn't stand up stomped on the bleachers as a cacophony of sound echoed throughout. The crowd was so rambunctious you'd think that Tristen had won the battle already. In spite of all the celebration however this battle was far from over. In fact, Nemona was just getting warmed up, all this did was make the girl try harder.
With a smile she recalled her Pokemon, fumbling to stow it away as it was a gesture she wasn't really used to doing during the middle of a battle, a fact that she found amusing as well. "It has been so long since someone has actually forced me to put in some effort...I am so happy!" She beamed, her body language saying she wanted to run across the field and give Tristen the biggest hug but she did not. Instead she took out a second Pokeball. Looking from the ball to the goo covered Meinshao she realized this was going to a shift end for the stout in spite of all its effort. "Sorry about this buddy, you did really good though!" She apologized to the Pokemon as she tossed her ball onto the field.
"Pawmot!" The ball would burst open and from within came a mouse that looked vaguely similar to one Tristen saw used earlier however it was much taller and darker in color, its tufts of fur more spiky. The Pokemon would quickly realized it was battle and took out from behind its back a pair of Boxing Gloves, quickly putting on said gloves and began to punch the air. Was it trying to cosplay as Hitmonchan or something?
"Pawmot, make it swift, use Mach Punch." She ordered the Pokemon, looking almost solemn after the command.
With a nod Pawmot would disappear in a flash and reappear in front of Meinshao, its fist already buried in the stomach of the stout as it struck the Meinshao with incredible speed and force, its gloved fists feeling like iron as they gave off a faint brown glow from the Fighting energy. Was the priority move needed? No, Meinshao wasn't moving well from the goo covering it but Nemona thought she should finish off her worthy foe quickly so it did not suffer further, figuring the Draco Meteor had already brought it to near fainting and leaving it in pain.

Tristen sighed in relief as the crowd roared with excitement. This was apparently the battle that everyone was looking for; someone and his Pokémon party to actually prove to be a threat to the likes of Nemona and everyone was eating this up completely. Mienshao by no means could show off any of his excitement though, the Martial Arts Pokémon still battered from the massive draconian onslaught. Tristen felt a bit guilty having Mienshao continue to push himself as he did for just a battle like this as opposed to a something that was actual fate of the world and such, but at the same time, it was probably going to be an insult if Tristen went kid gloves, especially after all of this, getting to this very point to stare down the school champion across the field in a Pokémon battle. “You’re doing great, Mienshao! Try to hang in there!” Tristen shouted to his Mienshao, knowing that was easier said than done.
When the second Pokémon came out, Tristen stared in confusion just a little. Pawmot? As he studied the Pokémon, Tristen was fairly convinced that it was a lot bigger than the Pawmo earlier. A different fur style on the top of its head. Tristen had the feeling that this was going to be a bit harder to take down.
Upon the attack call, Tristen went wide-eyed. “Mienshao! Try Drain Punch!” he commanded. Mienshao quickly drove his fist back, trying to see if he couldn’t catch the moment the Pawmot closed the gap to make his own swing, but the Pawmot was far too fast to even try such a thing. The punch drove deep into Mienshao, the Martial Arts Pokémon coughed out with a squeak then collapsed forward onto the ground. “Mienshao!” It was no use. Mienshao swung his last blow this battle. “You did great, Mienshao. Thanks. Come back, okay?” He said, recalling the Mienshao back to his Pokeball.
Tristen was half-tempted to send out Dragonite at this point, having a revelation just now. This stout electric Pokémon had to be a fighting type as well. If the Pawmo from B was any indicator in how it focused its Arm Thursts, then now Nemona with its Mach Punch, it made things look rather dicey for Rampardos. He then took a glance at Nemona, trying to think what she was thinking at this point. Was she maybe counting on it? What did this Pawmot have that might be a threat to Dragonite? Was Dragonite even a threat to this thing? Was he maybe in a lose-lose situation? Tristen ended up having to suck his teeth for a second, not too comfortable with any choice he had before him right now. At this point, Tristen decided to bite the proverbial bullet…
“Rampardos!” Tristen shouted, tossing out his next Pokeball. The ball hit the ground and in a flash out came the large dino, ready to go for another battle.
“BA-WAA!” Rampardos roared out, getting ready then took notice to his opponent. He smashed his head into the ground a couple of times, giving a couple of provoking growls and squalls towards the Pawmot; more than ready to square off with a new opponent.
“Rampardos! Bulldoze!” Tristen shouted.
“BA-WA!” Empowered by its Sheer Force capabilities, further his strength being flared up by his Life Orb, Rampardos winded his head back then drove it fiercely into the ground. A shockwave was unleashed towards the Pawmot, the terrain collapsing in its wake, making debris fly, the attack making its way towards the Pawmot.

SubonicXP "A Vivillion hyrid!? That's so cool! Like the hybrids of La Ruche? Man I wish I could visit La Ruche one day but they aren't keen on outsiders. Ah well." Camp said, shrugging over his inability to visit Beau's homeland. He would then looking down at the book and nodded knowingly. "Oh, Glimmet, yeah I've seen a few of those in the wild while bug hunting, particularly for Venonat or Venomoth during the day. You mostly find Glimmet in caves clinging to the walls, they look like literal wall flowers!" The boy chuckled at his own joke. "If you ever want to catch one I could show you a spot." Camp offered Clare. "Say, what is Team Snagem doing here anyways? I mean, not that you have to have a reason but it seems strange the world famous heroic vigilantes would be wasting their time at school." Clare shook their head gently and shrugged. “Sadly, I haven’t gotten to know Beauregard on a personal level yet so I don’t know much about his history. Beyond his hybrid species and that another Bug hybrid in the team comes from the same place in Kalos, I can’t offer anything else about him. I don’t think I know anything about the other one, though.” When Camp offered to show them where to find Glimmet, they smiled. “I’d really appreciate the help!” The boy’s follow-up question brought them back to the present and the recent past, though. “Oh… we actually came to Paldea for a vacation initially. The world seems to have largely calmed down after some incidents that occurred before I joined that I can’t recall for some reason so our leader thought we could stand to relax for a bit.” They explained calmly. “Something happened soon after our arrival, however, and the Indigo Alliance decided our strongest members and our leaders needed the discipline of some time in school so we were sent here for some time enrolled in the academy.” They sighed at this point and shook their head. “I’m not sure how long we’ll be here, though.”

Immediately, Amaranth almost regretted letting Mimi gush about the club and people she was sure were well-regarded and did very important jobs in a lot of facets of life. Unfortunately, none of it was anything she'd be terribly interested in beyond humoring the girl, and she tried to keep it from being obvious that she'd zoned out in the process. The words were almost a blur that went in one ear and out the other, and she felt bad that the end result was likely to tell her that she wasn't interested. It certainly wasn't from a lack of passion on Mimi's part; it just wasn't something she saw herself getting involved in- wait. She perked up with the remark of another newcomer, and by itself, that would've felt a little better. From Sinnoh, decently far... secretive Flying Channeler clan? In the mountains? Unbeknowest to Mimi, a lot had clicked with Amaranth all at once and her eyes veered towards the totem artifact for a moment. Volo said something similar about it, that there was supposedly some secretive bird taming clan in the Coronet Highlands. But even back in that era, he'd said they seemingly all disappeared. Research she did after those events showed her that area was probably Mt. Coronet today, but with what Mimi just said... Did that clan survive into the present after all? The rest of the people she mentioned barely registered to Amaranth at all, her thoughts fixated on the rumor and wondering if there was any truth to it. As it was, there was only one easy way of trying to find out. She'd snap back to reality with the question that came afterwards, realizing she'd need to give an answer sooner rather than later. "O-oh. I..." Pausing for a second, she take a bite from her sandwich and give a nod. "Let's do it. Consider me interested."

Throughout the battles Tristen had been doing, Aden was still watching with curiosity. And the chance to keep cheering a friend on. Maybe minus the whole thing with Matteo, though... once he'd seen Dragonite come out, he already had a feeling of how things would play out. But this one... Nemona, was it? The hype in the crowd felt palpable, and it was easy to see that letting up didn't exactly sound like something she really knew. Then Tristen managed to take her Goodra out, followed by the crowd going wild. It was a good battle already, to be sure, but this left him curious of just how strong of a trainer she really was. He didn't really recognize the Pawmot at all, but in the moment, they felt almost stronger than the lead was. Quiet as he came off, he'd taken to watching this battle even more intently than the others.

"Alright Pawmot! Use another Mach Punch! Forward assault!" Nemona cried out in response to Tristen's command.
Pawmot would nod and disappear in a flash as it moved at an incredible speed. For a split second it was anyone's guess as to where Pawmot went until it was seen running straight into the oncoming Bulldoze, the force of the shock wave slowing it down just long enough to be visible for a brief moment, the mouse grimacing in pain. The mouse however endured the attack enough to punch forward with its left fist, the force of its punch disrupting the rest of the Bulldoze, dirt and rock flying throughout the air as the attack was cut short by the sheer power of its punch.
With the Bulldoze interrupted Pawmot disappeared again, unburdened by the Bulldoze, and immediately after reappeared in front of Rampardos to deliver an uppercut with its right fist directly at the dinosaur's chin. "Pawmooot!" The Hands-On Pokemon roared as its fist connected, a small explosion of Fighting energy erupting on contact. Her Pawmot's endurance and power almost rivaled that of a lesser legend, if her second Pokemon was just strong what was her final one like?
The crowd would jump to their feet as they roared out of excitement for Nemona as she displayed the incredible raw power of her Pokemon. However while her Pawmot managed to survive the Bulldoze and deliver a powerful blow it was clear it took a good bit of damage, not even Nemona can navigate completely around type weaknesses.

“Wait, what?” Tristen could only say when he heard Nemona’s command. With the Pawmot making its way forward, it toughed through Rampardos’s outrageous attack with great speed. “Rampardos! Look out!” At that point, Rampardos had just pulled his head out of the dirt to bear witness to his handiwork, only to be greeted by a speedy fist with great force clocking Rampardos. Rampardos practically went cross-eyed as it stumbled backwards then tumbled a little way on the ground, falling over onto his side. Tristen couldn’t help but to grimace with worry, sucking through his teeth out of shock, worried about if not only if he made the right judgment call to take on this Pawmot, but if this Pawmot could be brought down. This thing literally tanked one of Rampardos’s nastier attacks and while it wasn’t looking like it was having a good day now, he still seemed like he was more than ready to go for another round or two. “You have got to be kidding me…” he then said to himself silently. “Rampardos! Are you alright!?”
“Baaaa…” He moaned out, the dinosaur kicked up to sit up then pushed himself up. Rampardos himself grimacing quite a lot himself from getting socked by the Pawmot. Tristen knew he needed to play a little safer against the likes of Nemona. Don’t go for any harsh attacks like that unless he was sure he could finish the Pokémon off. Tristen himself was sort of playing fast and loose himself, admittedly, only because his battle experience allowed that against everyone else he faced in this tournament so far. Even against Matteo. He couldn’t with Nemona. She was a champion; she wasn’t bound to make too many mistakes or have Pokémon that was not up to snuff. If her performance through today with Goodra alone wasn’t already apparent, let alone when he nearly completely decimated Mienshao immediately, this Pawmot was showing that he was just as much if not more so a contender.
Tristen needed to step up if he wanted a shot to win this after all. He needed to get this Pawmot off guard. “Rampardos! Screech!” Tristen then shouted.
“BAAAA!” The Rampardos roared out, letting loose his defense shattering shriek towards the Pawmot.

Pawmot let out a yelp as the Screech went off, the rodent placing its hands over its ears as it tried to protect them from the horrible noise however this would be in vain as the dinosaur's Screech got through, dropping Pawmot's defense sharply. "Pawmooo..." Whined Pawmot as it swayed a bit, as if it were dizzy, the sound of the screen still ringing in her head.
Realizing her Pokemon wasn't going to be around much longer Nemona decided to instead set up for what happened next. "Okay Pawmot, we haven't used this one in awhile but I'm sure you can still do it! Use Revival Blessing!" Nemona called out to his Pokemon, the gathered students gasping, murmuring, and all together showing surprise and interest in the command. Was Tristen familiar with this move? If not he was about to be before long.
With a nod Pawmot would close its eyes and hang its head for a few seconds, a cool blue energy surrounding it quickly. The Hands-On Pokemon would then raise its gloved hands to the sky and the energy would rise up off its body and collect into a small orb above its hands. Once the energy was done compacting into this orb the ball would rise up into the air and then suddenly fly towards Nemona, seemingly disappearing into her. It was hard to see where it actually went, all Tristen could tell it flew towards her and then disappeared. What happened?

At this point, Tristen was expecting to have Rampardos clash with the Pawmot; in fact he was ready for it. Unfortunately, Nemona had other plans. A move that Tristen hasn’t even heard of. It didn’t seem to be any sort of attack, instead the Pawmot conjured…something? It unnerved the Manetric teen; Nemona had a wider know-how of the Pokémon here, let alone the attacks they were capable of. Tristen couldn’t be surprised, however. Every region has their oddities. Regardless, Tristen couldn’t really make any sense of it. Whatever it was, however, Tristen didn’t want to give Nemona the time of day if he could help it. He needed to take out this Pawmot now. “Rampardos! Go! Zen Headbutt!” Tristen commanded.
It was a command Rampardos was all too happy to comply with. The Rampardos barrelled down the field, bringing his head down and forming a psychic power before it. “BA-WA!” Rampardos roared as he made his attack charge towards the Pokémon.
