Ash led Arqden out into the garden from the Front Room but kept his eyes on her face so that he could see her reaction to the sight that greeted them and he wasn't disappointed. The garden covered what had been the old Bailey and old smaller gardens all combined into one huge garden protected by the outer walls and rooms. There were plants everywhere, bushes, shrubs, trees, flowers, grasses... There were plants in planters, in hanging baskets, in organized plots, in wild arrays, along pathways, organized into mazes, as decorations around statues and benches...

The place was a riot of colors and scents, everywhere one looked was something new to fascinate and amaze.

Ash gave a small smile at the look on her face before he started them walking along one of the many pathways, "You should see the garden at night. That's when its true beauty shines through. Some of the plants only bloom at night, even a few that weren't that way originally, and were bred for it. But since Sebastet is basically stuck here, only able to make very short trips to other realms or islands, you could basically say that the garden is her way of overcompensating for that. Thanks to the wards she set up here, she cannot leave for more than a few hours," he explained, though he didn't really give any details.

He simply allowed his feet to wander the pathways for now, letting her see whatever caught her eye. They had to wait for her rooms to be readied anyway. He was also waiting for her questions, knowing that she had to have at least one or two...

When Ash brought her outside to the garden she was absolutely amazed that such a place existed outside of the gardens of the Elven Realms, but to see this one here and very well kept just amazed her to no end. Arqden stepped away from ash for a moment to admire some of the plants that were growing there as well as taking a deep breath enjoying the blend of different scents that was around her and for once since arriving somewhat felt at home, Arqden eventually looked at Ash and spoke up “this is beautiful, I’ve never seen one as well kept as this one is outside of the elven realms” Arqden ignored the fact that Ash was looking better than before and had to wonder how her senses were being so clouded but did her best not to let it show. As she walked through the garden she stopped here and there to admire certain flowers and plants she was familiar with and simply took in the sights around, noting that she would have to get a window view of this garden from her room so that if anything it would at least give her something to look at if she needed to unwind and relax for a while. Eventually, Arqden having seen enough looked at Ash to see where else he intended to take her.

Ash just gave a small smile and led the way towards the center of the garden, where Sebastet's night-blooming jasmine plant was. That plant had taken her fifty years to breed. Then it was killed off in a vicious attack. It had taken a long time to recreate the plant, but Sebastet's joy had made it all worth it.

Even now, as they passed the ring of red and black rose bushes, the heady scent of the jasmine filled the air even though it wouldn't bloom until after dark.

He paused here and let her explore just a bit in the central area then figured that he'd better explain just a tad, "In case you're wondering, I'm waiting for them to finish your suite. In the meantime, I thought you'd enjoy wandering the garden. It truly doesn't show its true beauty until after dark, though," he explained to her softly, "But, anywhere you want to go, I'm more than willing Since Lareth sent you, Sebastet put me in charge of showing you around and getting you settled in," he added, hoping that she wouldn't mind being around him.

He'd run into more than a few elves that had issues dealing with an Incubus. Whatever stories they were telling about his species of demon, he had no idea; but it was getting to the point that it was starting to cause a few issues with Lareth, he knew.

Arqden admired the beauty of the garden even though it wasn’t dark, and simply nodded when he stated his intentions and replied “that’s alright that’ll be something that i can do on my own time I don't want to impose any more than I already have” Arqden was being awfully polite considering, perhaps it was Ash, or maybe it was simply the fact that she was in such a beautiful garden, one she knew would be spending plenty of time in once she was settled in. Arqden leaned down her clothes showing off her form perhaps to well, at least what could be seen that wasn’t covered in armor, she smelled the sweet fragrance of the flowers she was closest to and enjoyed the smell greatly before she straightened up, her mind was completely focused on the garden and the various aromas that floated around and simply stood there for a moment before she glanced over at Ash, She idly looked him over for a moment trying to figure him out, He was good looking, had a demeanor that made even the nobles at home seem childish. Perhaps it was simply how he was acting because she was new there and was required to assist her to settle in, hard to say but whatever the case be she would have to get used to seeing him around since she was going to be there a while.

Ash just smiled when she looked at him and had to shake his head a bit, knowing that he didn't dress as anyone of 'noble' blood would so that wouldn't have her giving him that particular look. He finally gave a soft chuckle as he headed towards a different path and knew she'd follow him.

"I'm not here on sufferance, you know. If I didn't want to be here right now, I would have had one of the servants show up to escort you around. I don't mind it at all," he told her with a shrug of one shoulder before tossing his hair back behind him.

The sun caught that hair and showed that it didn't have blue or red highlights in it, instead it carried all of the colors as highlights when the sun hit it just right. It showed that he was a very varied creature but one that would tell her the truth whenever he was able to.

He couldn't say that he never lied since it would be untrue. As one of Lareth's best assassins, he'd been forced to use lies and deceit whenever necessary. But these days, when he was here at Sebastet's island, he stayed to the truth as much as he was able to. Admittedly, he had to stay in his human form here since his demonic form would leave too many people insane in his wake... Mortals generally had problems seeing him in full demonic form... So, while his human form was a bit of a lie, he tried to stick with just that one whenever he could.

"I like being here. The island is soothing for me in some ways," he said softly then looked down at the pathway they were walking along for a moment, "In other ways, it's not so pleasant, I'll admit. But I was the one Lareth chose for the position and I didn't argue. I could have probably gone over to the Elves as his representative, or even the dragons. I could have taken a darker posting... But this has become something special for me..." he continued in that softer tone without looking at her even though he was aware of her presence with every step.

He could have shown her how much he appreciated how beautiful she was, but he wasn't sure how she'd take it. He'd had one elf threaten to castrate him when he'd said she was beautiful. He'd been more cautious with it after that.

Among the demons, it was a given that one appreciated someone's appearance when they were trying to look attractive or when you found them attractive. It was simply the way they were. It didn't mean that one wanted to jump right into the sack, but too many other races got the wrong idea...

And he wasn't sure how much time she'd actually spent among the demons. So he was being a bit cautious for now...

Arqden looked at him, admittedly she had heard stories of elves encountering demons, as well as having encountered a few unscrupulous ones, Lareth being on top of that list for everything he’s put her through thus far, but to say that about ash didn’t appear to be the case, “you don’t appear to be like some demons I’ve encountered” Arqden stopped in her tracks as she looked at him “I haven’t met too many in my dealings with Lareth, but I think it is safer to say I’ve always heard more stories about demons who were out to destroy civilized life, though I always thought those to be exaggerations, you seem the sort that doesn't appear to be that way, you seem the more civilized kind, and admitedly a lot nicer looking than some demons i've seen” though whether or not he fell into the unscrupulous category, was up for debate, only time would tell whether or not he fell into that group of demons whose actions were always questionable, though to say that she had met many would be a lie since she had only met a handful that always seemed to be around the castle anytime she was requested by Lareth, as well as the few she had to deal with because they were absolutely rude and immoral bastards.

Ash gave her another soft chuckle and shook his head again as he tucked his fingers in the pockets of his black jeans, "We're an elemental race, born out of pure primal desire. I know the elves say they're an elemental race, but you're more like the... purified and civilized versions of the elements. Demons make no hesitations about what we are. There are good demons and bad demons. Just as there are good elves and bad elves; good humans and bad humans; good dragons and bad dragons; good and bad vampires; good and bad shifters... The list is endless, really," he explained to her then got them walking slowly again along the pathway.

But he turned them down another pathway that led to a sitting area with statues of other races in stylized versions of them, but tastefully so. He gestured to one of the many benches available and let her choose one to sit on then sat on one across from her so that they could look at each other. He put his elbows on his knees and rubbed his hands together slowly as he warmed up to his topic.

"I am an Incubus. One of the oldest still alive, actually. I saw the humans evolve into being. Then the vampires and shifters. I remember when the elves were still a young race. The dragons have always been an old race, though some of them have gotten stuffier over the years. But I'm also one of Lareth's best assassins. I learned to blend into any situation from the bedroom to the dungeon, from the battlefield to the ballroom. I've been in love and I've had my Heart handed back to me in ways that would make a Bard cry. I've seen kings and queens rise and fall. I saw the Elves leave the mortal realm and disappear into their own place. I remember when the Dragons left the mortal realm. I remember my own race leaving as well.

"It doesn't hurt me to be polite to you or to treat you with respect. I will admit that I take a lover here and there to stay alive. As an Incubus, it's what I have to do. But I have never left any of my lovers wanting or pining after me when I leave them. I have had to kill a lover here and there in the service to my king. I've served the rulers of the Demons since I came of age and that will never change. Demons are just as loyal as the Elves are.

"If you were another demon, I would have openly admired your beauty when I first met you. I would have told you or showed you that I find you attractive. But I've been around enough Elves to know better by now. The last one of your females I told that she was beautiful, threatened to castrate me for it. The Demons are simply not as... repressed... as the Elves are. We are openly who and what we are and we make no apology about it.

"Here, I have to stay in this form because my true form is something that mortals cannot handle for long. Not and stay sane, anyway. This is the closest I come to a lie, here. Here, on Sebastet's island, I tell the truth whenever I can. This form is as close to a lie as I get," he explained, hoping that she wouldn't press him too much on some of the details he'd revealed.

Yes he was old. He'd seen more than his fair share and felt that age at times. Mostly when he was in his bed. Alone. No one had shared that bed since Rebecca...

He shut that mental door before he got maudlin or morose. But he did have to admit that he hoped Lareth hadn't sent her here to tempt him... It was doomed to failure...

Arqden shook her head as she leaned forward slightly, her arms resting on he knees as she looked at him “duly noted, now that you’ve explained a few things I can explain away the sensations I’ve been feeling since meeting you, to say I’ve run across a demon like you would be a lie. I’ve never been under the influence of a succubus which is slightly new to me, though understand I am not here looking for a relationship, so admire, and express flattery to your hearts content it won’t change anything for me, compared to most women of my race, I am a noblewoman and am required to behave as such, and is the only reason why I am here to begin, had I not been I would not be here and most likely would have never met such an infuriating man in the demon realm” though considering Lareth, and the old bastards on the council had failed to inform her of the reasons for having been sent here didn’t help her mood “I will do what I can to help here and assist in defusing situations as they arise, I am a highly trained battlemage so am very capable in most combat situations” Arqden paused when she heard some walking and saw Madge walking up to them she curtsied when she stopped “you’re suite is ready Milady” Arqden briefly smiled and replied “thank you dear, and good job” Madge smiled as she left Arqden and Ash alone.

It happens to the best of us.

Ash gave her a nod of respect then had to smile at her after Madge left, most likely to prepare a tray of food and drink for Arqden's rooms. The girl was almost desperate to please and Ash had done his best to help her along but knew it would take time to get her skills down to an art, but she was getting there quickly.

"While you are a true beauty and very attractive, I have to admit that your virtue is safe from me. While I'm not entirely celibate, I make sure that my bedpartners these days are not a permanent thing. I only take what I need to survive," he stopped there, not sure how much he was giving away with that last statement but not wanting to drop much more than that right now.

As for Lareth, that was a much safer subject, "You'll have to forgive King Lareth, though. While he does have an odd sense of humor, even for a demon, he's been distracted lately by the fact that his queen is about to deliver his first child. For all that she's a long-lived one, she is still human and Lareth worries about that with the delivery. He'll likely send me a note later on about what you're supposed to be doing here. Either that or Hal will," he explained, finishing with a shrug of one shoulder.

He gave a half-turn to look behind him, giving her a look at the left side of his neck where the silvered pattern of Rebecca's Mating tattoo was. When she'd been alive, the intricate tattoo had been a mix of black and red with white lines through it. Being a silvered color meant that she'd died. That alone would give Arqden a reason for his statement of 'taking only what (he) need(ed) to survive', if she'd figured out what to look for among the other races.

Only Humans, Vampires, Angels, and Elves didn't Mark each other as the other races did, so whether she knew of the practice was debatable.

But from behind him, along the pathway, came Madge with a covered tray and a beautifully woven basket over one hand. She passed them with a perfectly made curtsy then continued on her way with a pleased smile.

Ash watched Madge walk on with a soft smile before looking at Arqden again, "It looks as if Madge is delivering something for you to eat to your suite, so I'll simply lead you there and head on to my own rooms," he said simply and got to his feet.

He waited until she was as well before leading her on through the garden towards the Northwest Tower, "That tower is where my rooms are. To the west, along that wall of the garden, is where the library is. Sebastet's Tower is the Northeast one and in between is where the Bathhouse is. Between Sebastet's Tower and the Southeast Tower is where the kitchen is. The Southeast Tower holds the Armory. There's some debate on whether or not Sebastet is going to let Dancer have the Southwest Tower when he comes back from the Demon Realm, but that's another tale for another time. Between the two South towers is where we came into the garden," he explained as they moved along, helping her to orient herself in the garden at any point.

They finally came to the staircase that led to the upper floors above the library and he paused as Madge came to the foot of the stairs and waited patiently to show Arqden to her suite. He had to give the human girl a soft smile and an encouraging nod before turning to the Elfin female, "I'll leave you in Madge's capable hands from here. If you need me for anything, please don't hesitate to send someone for me," he said simply and gave a partial bow.

When she held her hand out for him to shake it, he couldn't resist. A spark of the old Ash just flared briefly. He took her hand and raised it to his lips to place a light and teasing kiss to her knuckles with a teasing half-smile. He lowered her hand back to her side and turned to leave, his hair shifting enough to let her watch his perfectly framed a** as he headed for his tower.

It was a very small tease, but enough to show her what he would be like if he actually put some effort into attracting her. She would be hard-pressed to resist him. But that tease also let her know that he truly was holding everything back, that he'd buried most of his innate nature deep inside of him. In a way, it was a tragedy because he was a treasure all by himself. But it was even more tragic because if he continued like that for much longer... Well... Even the Elves had old stories of members of their own race burying power inside of themselves instead of using it, stories of those people eventually going mad with it. Or worse...

But Ash was so very different from anything she knew, Elf or Demon. He was desire-incarnate. Literally. That was what made an Incubus and Sucubus what they were. They were created by the universe and the gods to fulfill desire in all its forms. And Ash was desire incarnate, but tightly contained right now...

Arqden was slightly a taken back by his sudden change when he lightly kissed her hand, to say that it was something most nobleman would do when they were leaving a lady of interest made it all the more surprising, and his display try as she might, would have to admit he was quite handsome and would be quite a catch if she was looking for a partner. When he disappeared from sight she took a couple of steps back which almost caused her to knock over a vase with some flowers in them, thankfully she caught herself before she knocked it over but was dumbfounded, why was she there? Was the Elven Council trying to force her hand into marrying someone and Lareth just so happen to have a candidate for which to offer? Too many questions and too few answers, she just hoped that that wasn’t the case, as she wasn’t interested in finding a man to be her husband, she had a family to avenge and wasn’t interested in the fact that the council refused to allow her access to her family’s manor without marrying. Perhaps that would be changed once the new king was crowned. Perhaps the King would grant her Family’s lands to her and end the nonsense that was ongoing with the council, Hard to say but for now, she had to attend to whatever mission that was given to her and would worry about everything else later. For Now, Arqden looked at Madge who was smiling at the top of the stairs and went up without any further delay, pausing slightly to give her a nod and followed Madge to her new suite and only hoped they would be sufficient to her needs.

Kitchen is the next stop.

Blade found herself very aware of him as he left his room and approached her, though she didn't look at him until just before he spoke. She could feel that he carried a natural aura, for lack of a better word, that drew her attention to him when he was nearby, or within sight distance. She tried to shake it off but finally had to simply give in to that awareness and move on.

She finally gave him a simple nod as she tossed her finished braid over her shoulder, "The kitchen it is, then. We'll have to go through the garden to get there. Place is surprisingly easy to navigate since the garden is in the center of the castle," she explained then headed out of the hall, leading the way.

She'd noted how armed he was and was grateful that he'd left his guns behind. She hated the blasted things. And she had the shotgun scars on her a** to prove why. And now his wolf had seen those scars and probably knew about it on some level that would allow the man to have a flashback of some kind over it. At least, she hoped so. Otherwise they were never going to get over that memory speedbump he had.

And now she was rambling in her head... She shook her head to chase everything back and continued through the front room to the stained glass doors that led into the garden. Everyone had a different reaction to the garden the first time they saw it, various versions of awe and wonder she guessed. But she wanted to see what his reaction was first...

She led him around and opened the stained glass doors then simply led the way through into the garden. The place was huge, taking up the entire center of the castle. It was more like the place was built around the garden, though it was more like Sebastet's ability to redesign a place and knock down walls effectively. But one generally got the idea.

Sebastet and her gardeners also kept the place shifting over time. Sometimes it was subtle and sometimes it was more drastic, but even Blade found herself surprised from time to time. The place was soothing, though, with something that answered to everyone somewhere in the place.

Blade did an obligatory pause just through the doorway and watched to see his reaction for a moment. She didn't say anything, thinking that she didn't need to unless he asked a question.

As she'd stated before, everywhere in the castle could be gotten to from the garden. Even from here one could easily see the library's large windows to their left, with the kitchen's window to the opposite side of the garden. The kitchen also had a smaller herb and vegetable garden in front of its window, which made it easier for most residents to find. One only had to follow the smell of the rosemary...

In the very center of the garden was Sebastet's night-blooming jasmine, a breed that the Hylarr female had worked so very hard to create a very long time ago and the exotic scent of it still caught the nose when the wind shifted just right.

After another moment, Blade simply started walking towards the kitchen along the appropriate pathway. As they passed a particular spot, she knew she had to give him a small warning, "Avoid the rose maze," she said as she pointed it out to him, "There's a weird spell on it that traps couples in it for a few hours. Sebastet's still trying to work on the spell and keep it from trapping singles. At least the servants can't get trapped in there now, but it's a very old spell and seems to be very resistant to change," she told him simply as she kept walking. Place was nicknamed the Lover's Maze for good reason.

As she led him through the place, she did point out the major features. No need to be totally rude, after all, "That's the bathhouse. Old design; layout's like the old Greek and Roman baths. Southeast is Sebastet's tower; she's got her housing on the top floor and offices on the bottom floor. She gave Ash the Northwest tower since he's actually Lareth's representative here. Southeast tower houses the armory. She might give the Northeast tower to another resident if he comes back here. Not sure if that one's going to work out or not, though," she stopped there, not sure how much she should talk about Dancer right now.

She still had her own scars from that day, though nothing to compare to Dancer's scars...

She shook her head slightly and moved on down the pathway in silence at that point. She'd feed him then show him the dungeon then let him go on his way. She had to finish her preparations for her heat, after all...

Wulfric followed gypsy into the garden and while he didn’t show it he was impressed by the size and the dedication put into maintaining it, he didn’t show much of his feelings all that often and admittedly he had no reason to since he normally was interacting with people for contracts. As he walked he stopped slightly and noticed a flower he recognized immediately, an orange flower if he remembered correctly was a Trollius, he couldn’t believe such a flower was here which was quite surprising and it showed on his face, though if anything the slight smile on his face was even more surprising, as he looked at the he couldn’t help but bow his head slightly as a few old memories came back from his past and slowly the smile faded. He glanced up at Gypsy but didn’t say anything, but it was obvious that what he remembered were painful memories. Eventually he moved on from standing there and was content to simply follow Gypsy to the kitchen.

The rest of the garden was quite impressive and even Wulfric had to admit he could find some peace here provided he decided to settle here, wouldn’t be all that difficult of a decision but being on the road for so long he would struggle to find a reason to stop being a mercenary, so settling down wouldn’t be an option since he went where the work was and that was usually elsewhere. If anything he needed a reason to stop, a reason to stay in one place, at this point in time he couldn’t see a reason to do so, though his wolf, on the other hand, could find a reason the area was ripe with a food source and as far as it was concerned the woman next to him was reason enough to stay even if Wulfric didn’t see it himself, but the wolf in him wouldn’t interfere with the decision so Wulfric needed a reason to stop walking alone.

Amir
Amir carried Dancer into the Castle Garden, uncharacteristically silent as he thought about what Dancer had told him before coming down. He finally gave a soft sigh as he reached his conclusion. "You're right about everything you said, Dancer," he said quietly. "I do get into trouble when it comes to acting on it when I'm attracted to someone. And that's mainly because I don't know how to not immediately go there when I'm interested in someone. If I find someone that I like looking at, my immediate instinct is to find a way to get them into my bed. It's really all that I know how to do. And that's a problem that I'll have to figure out how to solve, because I'm definitely attracted to you. I have been since I first saw you, but it's really gotten out of hand since I saw your playroom."

He looked out over the garden and quickly changed the subject. "I can see why you said the garden is the crowning glory of the castle. It's breathtaking. I don't know if I've ever seen a garden quite like this before. I hope that I can meet the one in charge at some point so that I can give them the praise they deserve." He had mainly used the garden as a way to change the subject, but he really did have to appreciate it. The garden was beautiful, and Amir could only hope that he and Dancer could explore it a bit more when Dancer was able to get around without issue again.

He found a comfortable spot and sat Dancer down so that he could lay down and remain comfortable. "This spot should be perfect. It'll allow me to stay in direct sunlight for the greatest amount of time, and you should be able to be comfy for the entire time." He smiled down at Dancer. "There is one other thing that I'll need to let you know about. As you know, healing people like I do requires me to pour a lot of my energy into my patient. It isn't usually a big deal with a normal session, but one this long could have an unusual effect. I'll have to really focus on the healing, so I won't really be able to contain any thoughts or flashes of memory that cross my mind. And some of those things may end up bleeding through to you. It wouldn't be anything bad, but you may end up catching a few glimpses of my life." He took a deep breath. "Let me know when you're ready, and I'll get started."

Dancer left the attraction conversation alone for now, knowing that they had to deal with his healing first. But over the garden, he had to speak up with a smile, "I can't wait for you to meet Sebastet," he teased him for multiple reasons on that one. First, Amir hadn't met Sebastet yet. Second, the garden was her baby...

But over the warning, he had to shake his head slightly, "I know the risks, Amir: to me and to you. I'm just glad that you won't get any flashes from me. If we need it, we can have a couple of the servants help us upstairs after so that we can rest. If that's okay, just flag one of them down when they pass through here. They pass through fairly frequently," he offered, knowing that even the humans available were able to carry them up the stairs.

But for now, he settled himself in the grass and closed his eyes, able to hear a couple of servants passing through the garden towards the kitchen. They weren't far off, but would give Amir enough time to consider his decision before they passed them.

He stayed relaxed, knowing that tensing up now would only make the side effects of speed-healing worse on him. As it was, he was going to deal with muscle spasms, sudden naps, phantom pains... Those were just the basic symptoms he'd deal with.

Although... after mentioning it... Amir might have inadvertenely given him a clue on how to manage that... But he'd have to think about it a bit more...
