The shockwave would surge across the field, upheaveling dirt and rock as it made its way for Dachsbun. The dog would not have it in it to dodge the attack and thus the Bulldoze would arrive, tossing the canine up into the air with a burst of Ground energy. Dachsbun would hit the ground with a hard thud and remain there motionless. Dachsbun has been knocked out.

"Oh Bun Bun, you tried your hardest! Return!" B. called out to and then recalled his Pokemon, stashing it away in his shorts before withdrawing another. "Your dinosaur is so cool, and strong! I wish I had one!" B. shouted at Tristen.

"Yeah, so cool!" E. shouted from the bleachers, B. chuckling.

"My next one is cool too though! We've been training together extra hard for this! Come on out, Pawmo!" B. cried out as he tossed the ball onto the field, a orange-ish bipedal rodent appearing from the ball, its cheeks reminiscent of a Pikachu's but yellow. "Come on Mo Mo! Let's start out with your Arm Thrust!" B. said, making palm striking motions at the air as if to mimic what Pawmo would do.

With a cry the Mouse Pokemon would leap into battle, quickly dropping to all fours and rapidly scurrying across the field until it made it up to Rampardos where it would spring forward and rise up, using its momentum as it struck at Rampardos with a double palm strike. The mouse would then pull both back and strike it with a single palm at a time, one after another, for a total of four strikes.

“Heheh, thanks B. That Pokémon of yours is pretty cool too, you know.” He replied back to B. He wasn’t lying. It was a rather interesting Pokémon. Maybe down the road that would be something he would look for, but he wasn’t going to sweat it right at the moment. With the Dachsbun down, Tristen found himself at a minorly advantageous position, but that was only all it was. He needed to try to see if Rampardos had enough gas in the proverbial tank to actually carry him through B’s next Pokémon. Theoretically, it was possible. Everything had to go right, though. And after taking a couple of rough attacks, it didn’t seem likely. Tristen could see it on his Rampardos; Rampardos was favoring a couple of limbs and he was wincing a bit. He took a lot of damage from that hound, much to either of their chargrin.

The Pawmo would finally arrive onto the field and for a second, Tristen thought this was a perfect opportunity. A Bulldoze attack should be more than enough to drop this thing, shouldn’t it? These things weren’t fully evolved, that he overheard the trainer tell his adoptive father, so it hadn’t realized its full potential as of yet. Tristen, unfortunately, underestimated just how quick this thing actually was…let alone what it was capable of. An Arm Thrust…of all the things, this thing had an Arm Thrust attack. He would have expected a Hariyama or something…you know…large would have been capable of letting loose such a furious Fighting attack like that, not this thing. Nevertheless, this wasn’t good. “Rampardos! Back up! Watch it!”

Rampardos would try to dance around the Pawmo as best as he could, each lunge the two of them could tell were deceptively powerful from such a tiny thing. Rampardos, unfortunately, with it hurting ended up misstepping, finally taking a harsh hit…and another…and another. “BA-WA!” It squealed out as it stumbled backwards and hitting the ground. The tiny Pawmo took out the injured dino. So much for that idea.

“Rampardos! Come back!” He shouted. Truth be told, at this point, Tristen was tempted to pull out Dragonite, but he still wanted to hold off on it. Not only that he still wanted to hold his proverbial ace in the hole as long as possible as a secret, even if he decided to pull the proverbial trigger, he didn’t fully know what these things were capable of. They were electric types, that much was for certain. So potential electric induced paralysis could possibly be in the future. That said, they liked to go physical. Not too dissimilar to say Electabuzz. He had to go under the assumption if that were the case that they will get up close and personal. A lot. Perhaps Dragonite was overkill…Mienshao also liked the up-close brawl. It was more his wheelhouse, after all.

“Mienshao!” Tristen then shouted, tossing out the Pokeball. Once the ball landed, the ball pops open in a flash and out came the fighting type, ready for battle.

“Me-shoooo!” Mienshao howled out, striking a fighting pose once on the field, still brandishing the Muscle Band around its waist.

Whatever the case, as far as Tristen figured, Mienshao was going to have to do a lot of work again. Given the height of the opposing Pokémon, High Jump Kicks are a bit off the menu unless this thing was capable of jumping around a lot well. He’d have to get Mienshao to go in and scrap with this thing. “Mienshao! Rampardos got taken down!” Tristen shouted. “Retaliate!”

Just as with the Revaroom earlier today, Mienshao bolted forward and in a flash was behind the Pawmo, just as before, in mid pose. “北斗剛掌波!”

“What is even that?” Tristen couldn’t help but to ask, staring in confusion once again. He didn’t teach Mienshao that much at least. All the same, it was a strike, practically quick as lightning and, to Tristen’s hopes, a quick end to this Pawmo. He still had another Pokémon to get through after this.

Pawmo would freeze up for what seemed like an extremely long two seconds, unflinching after Mienshao appeared on the opposite side of it. The stillness would be broken as Pawmo let out a pained cry and fell to one knee, grimacing in pain after taking the powerful Retaliate. Already poor Pawmo was feeling like it was almost ready to tap out.

"Oh wow, that was a strong move! Man, I wish Pawmo was evolved..." B. sighed, realizing how bad off his mouse was already. Realizing he needed to make the most out of Pawmo's time on the field he decided to go for the max amount of damage he could do, even if it wasn't the most creative or flashy choice to make. "Another Arm Thrust!" The mouse boy called out.

With a nod the Pawmo would suddenly spin around and stand up all at once. Then, in that same motion, it would leap at Mienshao and begin to strike at it with its open palms. One strike! Two strike! Three fighting energy infused palm strikes delivered upon the Mienshao before it saw an opening to retaliate or escape, the Pawmo going for a fourth strike in that moment but would not be able to finish it as it would either miss or Mienshao would stop it in some way.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 03, 2024 1:07 pm
“Mienshao! Heads up!” Tristen shouted. Mienshao went wide-eyed, quickly snapping his head around to see the Pawmo not out of the fight quite yet. Quickly the fighting Pokémon got on guard, trying to defend against the hard blows out of the Pawmo. True to fighting type style, it tried to maintain form and poise, trying to deflect the blows coming from the hardy electric type. Each blow was rather fierce as Mienshao would realize as it ended up effectively absorbing those deceptively strong blows. Mienshao staggered back a couple of steps as the Pawmo, cautious, backed away only to pivot and went for its finishing strike again, just as it did with Rampardos.

“Mienshao! Force Palm!” Tristen shouted. As Pawmo lunged out once more, Mienshao lunged a palm out himself, throwing his palm right into the Pawmo’s body. Mienshao forcefully shoved the electric Pokémon into the battlefield’s dirt, its palm roaring with fighting power. “SHO!” Mienshao shouted, unleashing the power it collected in his palm. From under the Pawmo, the exertion of power kicked up all manner dirt and dust around it in a rather brutal display of force.

Mienshao's palm strike would interrupt Pawmo's flurry of strikes, knocking the mouse into the dirt. With a grunt the rodent hit the ground and immediately went to get up off the ground, catching a glimpse at Mienshao standing over it still, palm pointed at it. In that moment Pawmo's eyes went wide as it felt the built up of Fighting energy but it was too late, it didn't have enough time to react, only enough time to realize was about to happen.

"Paaaw!" Shouted the mouse in pain as the burst of Fighting energy was released, the mouse shoved back down to the ground and bouncing off the dirt due to the impact of the Force Palm. With that final thump on the ground the Mouse Pokemon would just lay there, knocked out cold.

"Ouch, that looked like it hurt..." B. said as he recalled his Pokemon and stashed the ball away. "We need to learn a thing or two from your Fighting Pokemon!" The young boy said with a smile as he took out his third and final Pokemon. "Well this is my last one! Let's see if we can still hang in there! Come on out, Lo Lo!" The boy cried out as he tossed the ball onto the field, the device popping open to reveal a black bipedal Bug Pokemon with yellow eyes and what looked like an extra pair of legs on its back. In fact it looked like a character you'd see in one of those Pokewood Studios films.

"My Lokix is one of my favorite Pokemon! Don't you think it looks cool!?" B. said, gushing over his Pokemon, his eyes almost sparkling. "Come on Lo Lo! Let's show them what you can do! Use Double Kick!" B. commanded.

With a nod the Lokix's eyes would begin to shine and the bug would make one giant flying leap at Mienshao, attempting to bring both its legs down upon the stoat. If those hit, or even missed, the grasshopper would bounce off the ground, performed a front flip, and in that same moment extended its 'extra legs' and slammed them down on its foe. After the attack the Lokix would bounce backwards and prepare for retaliation, now bouncing on its third set of legs.

"It's called Showdown Mode! Lo Lo is pretty serious about the battle now!" B. explained.

With the Pawmo down, they had the advantage, but that wasn’t without Mienshao getting a bit banged up in the process. Tristen hoped that it wasn’t all that bad considering how relentless that electric type wanted to be. But now, Tristen found himself in unfamiliar territory. B had done well to keep his team under wraps, at least until now and there still was a whole region’s worth of Pokémon that Tristen hasn’t seen as of yet. Tristen was bracing himself for impact, expecting the worse. Then the Pokeball toss…

Tristen couldn’t help but to quickly study the new Pokémon. It wasn’t anything that he managed to see as of yet, much to his chagrin and he was quickly trying to scan the Pokémon just for any sort of clue as to how to approach it. This Lokix did look insectoid…so Bug type, maybe? That didn’t go over too hot with the Manetric teen. Tristen took a glance back at his Mienshao, noting the Muscle Band that he given to his Pokémon and started to slightly resent having it on his fighting Pokémon right at this second. In Mienshao’s arsenal, he did know how to use Acrobatics, but it only was best used when a Pokémon that wasn’t encumbered with things like specialized items like that. Before, it was never an issue, Tristen never used such items before until now and the only reason why he did so was to try to fit in and not really tip his hand as to how much experience his team has in a subtle way. Though, at this point, considering how both Mienshao and Rampardos has been performing, he had the feeling that no one was going to believe it at this point. All the same, now that he has that Muscle Band around Mienshao, that Acrobatics attack was heavily gimped unless he can get his Pokémon to take it off in a hurry. Fat chance. Tristen also sort of wished that Mienshao was capable of learning something such as Fire Punch, but unfortunately no such luck. Tristen tried to figure out if there was anything else he could take advantage of. The shiny carapace, dark as cast iron, and legs that looked as if they were cutting saws made Tristen think it was a steel type, in a similar vein to a Scizor. But Tristen would end up admitting that was just a guess; he couldn’t go on just looks. He didn’t have senses to come up with any better idea. It wasn’t an electric type, that’s all he could honestly say. This Pokémon was probably going to be a bit rough.

Tristen’s confusion then went on tilt. A Double Kick? So, is it part fighting type like a Heracross? If that was true, then maybe Acrobatics wasn’t completely off the table. Tristen just shook his head. He had to experiment as best as he could and hope Mienshao could withstand whatever punishment that this thing could dish out.

Mienshao braced itself, trying to guard against the harsh kicks from this insect Pokémon. “Showdown mode?” Tristen asked. Was that legit a thing about this Pokémon? Whatever the case, it did seem like it wanted to get close and scrap with other Pokémon. But so did Mienshao. He needed to figure out the best way to go about things…one step at a time. Are Mienshao’s fighting attacks still viable at least? “Mienshao! Try to get in! Drain Punch!” he shouted.

As the kicks continued to bombard Mienshao, Mienshao stepped in and with have a hard thrusting punch for the up close and personal bug Pokémon. If this worked, it could be the possibility he could attrition out this bug.

The Lokix was socked in the stomach, the bug dropping down to its main set of legs and bracing itself with its third set as to withstand the impact and grabbed Mienshao's arm with what is technically its upper set of legs or 'arms'. Immediately it felt its energy being sapped away, stolen by this stoat and that just wouldn't do. Looking at the Muscle Band it was wearing the bug's eyes glistened.

"Oh! That's a good idea!" B. called out to his Pokemon, knowing exactly what his Pokemon was thinking, an example of their bond. "Go for it! Use Thief!" The boy instructed his Pokemon.

With its eyes shining again the Lokix would grab the Muscle Band on Mienshao's waist with one hand as it held onto Mienshao's arm still. Then, once it had a good grip on the item, it would lean back and kick Mienshao with its second set of legs, both of them glowing with Dark energy. Now normally Mienshao could tank such a hit, thanks to its natural resistance to the Dark type, but this time it took the full force of the Thief move, enough to knock it back as Lokix kicked off of Mienshao and did a backwards flip. How did it manage that? Was there an ability that bypassed resistances or something?

"Lokix!" The Grasshopper shouted upon landing, striking a pose as it landed back on its third set of legs, 'entering Showdown Mode', its arms extending into the air as it showed off the Muscle Band it was now wearing on one arm. While the bug did take a good bit of damage Tristen would have confirmation that it was not a Steel type and worse still it now has Mienshao's held item.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 04, 2024 10:44 am
“Wait, wha? Wait, Mienshao! Look out!” Mienshao would continue to brawl with the insect, trying to keep the bug off his case but in the midst of the struggle, Mienshao would find himself staggering back from the attack when Lokix kicked off of Mienshao. Tristen and Mienshao would look at the Lokix when the dust settled and just stare almost flabbergasted; Mienshao taking the extra step by double taking, looking down to his own waist then back at the bug.

“Meeesho!” It shouted, irritated.

Tristen, paying attention to the battle, realized that the Pokémon was rather susceptible to the fighting attack. That meant that it’s possibly a steel type too, or something that was weak to Fighting if it didn’t have its bug resistances. Oddly, as long as Tristen wanted to try to experiment against this Lokix, he couldn’t be all that miffed like Mienshao was about losing the Muscle Band. “Let it go, Mienshao! That’s actually kinda good for us!” Tristen shouted. Little did B realize, that opened up one of Tristen’s and Mienshao’s options. Even if this thing is part Steel, this should actually sting a bit… “Use Acrobatics!” he then shouted.

Mienshao rushed for the Lokix then started to start to do a bunch of cartwheels, into flips, then on the last dismount went down on the Lokix feet first. Though whatever comes of this, Tristen had to figure out just what this thing is about before it was too late.

B.'s eyes went wide as the command was giving, looking to his Lokix. This was it, there was no way they were surviving this, not after B. just had Lokix take away the Mienshao's held item thus making its Acrobatics move stronger. Maybe they could avoid it though, it was worth a shot, right? "Lo Lo! Jump get out of there!" B. cried out to his Pokemon.

Lokix would leap back and away from Mienshao, attempting to avoid its attack but the stoat kept flipping and moving towards it, Lokix jumping back each time. However Mienshao was gaining more and more speed and momentum and so each time Lokix jumped away the gap between them shrunk until Mienshao made one final pounce and struck the Bug with a Flying energy empowered twin flying kick. The Bug would be sent flying across the field where it landed at B.'s feet, knocked out cold.

"Lokix has fainted! B. is out of usable Pokemon! Tristan wins!" Ms. Dendra declared.

B. pouted a big as he returned his Pokemon, however his frown soon faded as E. rushed the field and jumped on his brother, the twins sharing a big hug. Once their little hug session was over both ran up to Tristen, before he could make it to the center of the field for the ceremonious handshake. "That was so fun!" B. said to Tristen. "We need to battle again some time! Your Pokemon are so strong! So cool!"

"Really cool!" E. chimed in, the two then giving Tristen a hug.

"We're going to go now! We're rooting for you!" They both said in unison before running off for the bleachers. With that battle finished it was time for Tristen to retire with the remaining trainers and wait for this round of battles to finish.

-----

The rest of the battles would wrap up and similar to last time with Nemona only using one Pokemon. Matteo however fought Florian. The kid actually gave Matteo more of a run for his money and forced him to send out his second Pokemon, a Paldean Tauros of the Fire variety. The kid's Clodsire took out Kilowattrel but alas Tauros polished it off and made short work of the kid's Arboliva and then Crocalor, his Fuecoco now evolved.

With those battles taken care of they would move into the semi-finals which contained the following four in two battles; Tristen vs Matteo and Nemona vs Juliana. He'd seen Juliana battle this whole while, luck taking her to Nemona though. Her strongest Pokemon was something called a Meowscarada, the powerhouse of her team, doing most of the work. Some trainers had a nasty habit of only focusing on one Pokemon, usually their starter, and it looked like Juliana was one of them. Her odds of defeating Nemona were low.

Now time to take to the field Tristen would notice that Matteo was nowhere to be found. Ms. Dendra thought this was strange too as she began to ask around if anyone had seen where Matteo went. "...did Matteo say anything to you, Tristen?" She asked the boy. The students were now beginning to talk. Did Matteo chicken out?
PostPosted: Thu Jul 04, 2024 2:19 pm
Tristen would be wrought with surprise with the kind of damage Acrobatics did to the Lokix. Whatever Lokix was, it certainly wasn’t a steel type. Blessings abound, this match was. However, with still opponents to face in this tournament that bore witness to this, he doubted that this was going to be something that he was going to get away with again. Tristen and Mienshao would approach B and E together, giving a handshake to B for a well fought battle and taking in the hugs from the twins once again, pretty much more accepting of them at this point. It was probably their thing. Probably best to just roll with it. All the same, B truly was a good battler and perhaps had no doubt he was going to improve even more than that. It was almost frightening…he could probably be the next Nemona-esque trainer some time down the road. That was almost a scary thought, actually…

Tristen would finally head back to get his Pokémon tended to once more, though not before getting back the Muscle Band from B’s Lokix. He was registered with that, after all. Though maybe after this was over, he’d give the band back to him. Kind of a token gesture and all of that. He waited as long as was needed, then made his way back for his seat in the bleachers to watch the rest of the battles. Matteo apparently ended up having to put even more effort now in his battle. Florian, one of his class mates in Art and one that he got to meet with again at lunch on occasion at this point, had apparently put a lot of pressure onto Matteo’s Killowattrel and finally took it down. Matteo’s second Pokémon was a mild intriguing, admittedly. It was one of those Tauros again. Bigger than the ones back at home and completely black…though Tristen started to wonder if he misremembered something. The horns looked a bit different, and the hair around the bulls neck had red highlights of some kind. Then again, the only Paldean variant of this he saw was at the battle before he watched his adoptive father have at it in Porto Maridia, and even then, it was all of…twenty seconds tops, not enough to realize what the bull was about, let alone to get a thorough look at it. Seeing Matteo battle however made this thing show that it was in fact a fire type, which got the gears turning in Tristen’s mind. By the way it looked, Rampardos was going to need to pick up the slack on this one. That Killowattrel was clearly an electric and flying type at this point, which hopefully a Rock Slide would be the perfect answer to and a Bulldoze or two to make the bull submit. With that said, Matteo was showing that he was in fact no slouch in battling; he’d probably had accounted for all of that at this point. Worse, Tristen started to realize, Matteo had bore witness to a lot of what two of his Pokémon were capable of. While there was still a trick here or there, what Rampardos and Mienshao demonstrated today so far was probably more than enough for Matteo to come up with some sort of plan to take Tristen out of this tournament. Tristen couldn’t say the same of Matteo’s Pokémon at all.

The semifinals finally would finally come to everyone’s excitement. Each battle so far nearly had people on the edge of their seats for one reason or another; some of which because of a new kid that started to stir up the status quo with his Pokémon and their battling. Others because this was perhaps the fiercest the competition has been. Just all out, no mercy. Some battles being closer than others which got people excited for their own respective reasons. Once it was time, Tristen made his way up off the bleachers again and took his position on the battle field, but then started to realize something. He looked back towards the bleachers and didn’t see Matteo there. It got quieter, the excitement dying down. Murmurs started to go over, the students wondering if Matteo wimped out or if he was stuck in the bathroom or things of that sort. Ms. Dendra, overseeing these matches, also was confused at the matter. When asked by her, Tristen shrugged. “I don’t know.” Tristen said. He didn’t see Matteo go off to get his Pokémon checked out and ready to go for the next battle either, now that he thought about it. He was wondering what happened. Tristen started to look towards the other seats, making sure he didn’t over look something, wondering if anyone saw anything as to where Matteo may have ran off to.

Clare withdrew a bit from Camp’s overexcited reaction to finding out they were a Snagem but rather quickly adjusted to it and began trying to decide how best to answer. “Unfortunately for me, I can’t say I deserve any of the ‘hero’ credits. I only recently became a part of the team and as far as I know, we’ve done no heroing since that time for me to be a part of.” They admitted, eyes cast toward the floor for a brief moment. “No, I’m afraid I haven’t come across any Bug Pokémon that have caught my attention yet but we do have a hybrid you may be interested in. I believe I was told he’s named Beauregard.” They tapped their chin with their currently only index finger for a moment. “I believe he’s a Vivlilion hybrid and from what little I know of him so far, he has a penchant for blowing things up.”

They smiled softly for a moment after that. “And yes, Snagem has been trying to help me remember where I’m from as well as who I am, beginning with helping me remember what kind of hybrid I am since that information is also missing.” They explained, though the smile fell quickly afterward. “I heard about a species of Pokémon native to Paldea called ‘Glimmet’ whose typing matches mine but no one in Snagem knows anything about it as far as I know. I was trying to find some information on the species.” They’d tilt the book up a bit to show Camp the page.

Another two minutes would go by with Matteo still gone and the students talking. Tristen would note the look on Ms. Dendra's face as a staff member came up and spoke to her, giving the boy the vibes they were getting ready to call it, no doubt giving Tristen the win by default. As the staff member walked away the students got louder and quickly Tristen would see what they were worked up over; Matteo showed up. Running up to the field with an Agility he'd skid to a stop, kicking up dirt. As soon as he stopped he whipped out a Pokeball and chucked it high into the air, the ball popping open to release his Kilowattrel, the Pokemon wearing a Magnet around its neck.

"Oh...uh well, I guess let the battle begin?" Ms. Dendra said, confused by Matteo's flashy appearance, though by the sound of things the students liked it.

"Kilowattrel, set us on the path to victory! Use Electric Terrain!" Matteo commanded. Regardless of which Pokemon sent out first Kilowattrel would move first, the bird letting out a shriek as electricity crackled from its body and spread onto and across the ground below it.
