Teddy had no idea what IV's were. He just nodded in agreement as though he understood what Matt has mentioning. It sounded official however. Teddy couldn't imagine giving away a Pokemon due to something like that and considering how friendly the Skarmory that Matt had received, he felt even worse. It was such a friendly Pokemon. As Matt mentioned about it getting dark, Nurse Joy appeared and offered the boys a roof for the night. "As long as there is a guarantee of no alarm Burmy to wake me in the morning. We would love to!" Teddy laughed. He hadn't gotten over that experience yet. But the thought of a soft bed for the night was something he couldn't turn down. Thinking about it, logically the last time he slept in a bed, he was in a different region.
Nurse Joy led the way for the two of them to a room with bunk beds, a table and a small sink at the side of the room by the window. It was basic but it would do the trick. Teddy removed his Pokeballs from his bag and released all of his Pokemon into his room, Butterfree joining them. What a motley crew Teddy has assembled as far. "Alright guys. Relax! This is where we stay tonight!" Teddy said. Wani-Wani immediately jumped for the top bunk. Bulbasaur and Butterfree gravitated towards each other, must have been a nature thing. Munchlax was still in a deep asleep and Houndour jumped onto the windowsill to look at the moon.

Matt followed Nurse Joy and Teddy to one of the spare rooms in the Pokemon Center, followed closely by the rest of his Pokemon. The two rookie Trainers entered the room, and Teddy released his Pokemon to hang out in the room. Matt ushered the rest of his Pokemon into the room. Mudkip, Bulbasaur, and Eevee all ran and hopped onto the bottom bunk, while Sableye scurried over to the windowsill and stood near Houndour, Heracross walked over to Teddy's Bulbasaur and Butterfree, and Skarmory curled up near the bed. Matt looked over the room full of Pokemon and Matt couldn't help but smile. "We've already caught so many Pokemon... So Teddy, have anything planned while we're here in Pewter? I think I'm gonna challenge the Gym Leader tomorrow morning. Apparently Kanto doesn't have a Pokemon League Champion... I think I'm going to try to become the Kanto League Champion, and the first step is defeating the Pewter City Gym Leader."

Teddy scratched his head, he hadn't really thought about what he would do now he was in Pewter. Arriving in Kanto was purely by accident of him swimming too far. He knew there was a train line in Saffron that he could use to get back home, but he hadn't really thought of what would happen till that point. He hadn't even considered taking on any of the Pokemon Leagues. Matt revealed his intention to become League Champion. Teddy looked over at his Pokemon, Wani-Wani was jumping on the bed in a fit of excitement. Munchlax had slid over onto his side and continued sleeping. Houndour was watching out of the window with Matt's Sableye close by. Finally Bulbasaur and Butterfree were conversing with one another. Could he take this team the whole way?
Snapping out of his trance he looked back at Matt. "I think I might just spend some time training tomorrow. We've only just got together as a team. Probably best if we train our hardest before taking on anything to do with gyms!" Teddy said, putting his hands in his pocket in a relaxed fashion, he felt something rolling around. Pulling it out, he found he had picked up a big mushroom from somewhere. Shrugging he yelled out Bulbasaurs name and threw it to him. He swallowed it in one and replied with a happy"Saaauurr~"Teddy pulled out one of the chairs under the table and took a seat. He didn't think he would have to make a decision on his Kanto Journey this soon.
"We need to talk strategies for tomorrow Matt! What's your plan of attack?! What do you know about the guy running it?" Teddy asked. He knew the gym leader was a rock type trainer but not much else.

Matt listened and nodded when Teddy said he'd probably spend tomorrow training his team before challenging the Gym. Matt had to agree that it was a good idea to work on team coordination, but he was feeling confident after his battle with Heracross, who had already become very friendly towards him and his other Pokemon, especially Teddy's Butterfree. "Well, I hear he uses Rock-type Pokemon, so with Mudkip and Bulbasaur I already have a type advantage on him. He will probably have higher level Pokemon that'll be faster though..." Matt said, mumbling off at the end. Seeing Teddy feed his Bulbasaur a mushroom, Matt had an idea and called his Bulbasaur and Mudkip over while digging through his bag. He pulled out his Pokedex, a mushroom, and a brown disc. "Let's see if this works... Come here Bulbasaur!" He said, feeding Bulbasaur a Big Mushroom. He looked at Bulbasaur through his Pokedex and started scrolling through a bunch of move names until he stopped on one. "Giga Drain, there it is. You can actually feed Pokemon those Big Mushrooms to teach them moves normally only learned through cross-breeding." Matt explained before motioning Mudkip over. Mudkip happily skipped over, expecting food like Bulbasaur. However, instead of feeding Mudkip, he gave it a weird egg to hold on to, which Mudkip quickly put in its mouth. "That's a Lucky Egg, you use it to increase the rate Pokemon gain experience for a short time." Matt said before feeding Mudkip a berry. "But yeah, using those moves and having type advantage is really all I have. If it comes down to it though, I can send Heracross in to clean up. Isn't that right, Heracross?" Matt asked, looking over at his Bug-type Pokemon, who looked back at him and nodded with a determined glare before returning to trying to reach the hovering Butterfree.

It sounded like a great strategy. Much like Matt, Teddy also had a grass and a water type at his disposal so if he did go for the gym battle, he would likely use Bulbasaur and Wani-Wani as his go to Pokemon. He did imagine that his other Pokemon would be of a great help also, but as Matt mentioned, the type advantage is an attractive option. Then he mentioned about the way of teaching Pokemon different moves, commenting that the Mushroom Teddy had fed Bulbasaur likely would help him learn a move that Bulbasaur would normally be unable to know.
Teddy rushed over to Bulbasaur, falling backwards off his chair. He took his Pokemon's head in his hands and stared intently into his Pokemon's eyes. "Learn Giga Drain. Learn Giga Drain. Learn Giga Drain" He said over and over. His Bulbasaur smiled and then nodded. Teddy assumed that worked for him. Matt then mentioned his Heracross still likely being able to take on the gym itself. Teddy looked up from his spot on the floor at the imposing Heracross attempting to playfully swipe at Butterfree who was hovering out of it's reach. He looked back over at Matt. "I don't doubt that for a second" then with a scratch behind Bulbasaur's ears, he stood up and stretched. "We should probably wait up for Hayes I guess? Who knows when he'll get back."

Matt laughed as he watched Teddy launch out of his chair before running over to his Bulbasaur and chanting at it to learn Giga Drain. After that, Teddy mentioned that they should probably stay up and wait for Hayes. Matt nodded in agreement. "Unless he got caught by another Spinarak, I'm sure he was able to find his Pokedex and is on his way back. Hopefully he figures out where we're staying..." Matt said, trailing off at the end. Matt was petting Mudkip, who had curled up into his lap after the berry snack. He looked at all the low-leveled Pokemon and it reminded him of the daycare at home in Hoenn. "So Teddy, what's Johto like? We get a few clients from there occasionally, or Johto-native Pokemon requests, but I've never actually been outside of Hoenn before this adventure."

Matt had suggested that Hayes may have been captured by a Spinarak once again. Teddy patted Heracross firmly on the head as he walked back over to the table. Scratching his own chin however, he began to think that was a real possibility. "He does get himself into some real trouble. It really wouldn't surprise me if he did" he agreed. Hayes did have awful luck, Teddy could only imagine the ambushes he was getting involved with in the forest. Taking his seat again, Matt asked him about Johto. Where to start... he thought. He leant back on his chair and tapped his chin. "I grew up in Cianwood City, by the ocean. It's just on the corner of Johto really. Cool ocean wind. Crystal waters. I love it. I haven't visited many of the other cities really. Olivine, Ecruteak, Goldenrod are where I tend to go. Those are great. I've holidayed in Blackthorn City a few times. Tons of mountains there and a super icy cave just outside. But I love it. Johto native Pokemon just have something about them that I love." Teddy said with a sigh, leaning forward again and holding his head in his hand. "I've visited Hoenn once actually. I can't remember where. I just remember there was a lot of water."

It felt like it'd take him ages, but he'd finally made it out of the forest and to Pewter City... a quaint little place, by the looks of it. Hayes spared a glance back at the forest and gave a quick tap on his back pocket to make sure he still had the Pokedex before he headed into the city. It was already dark out, so he didn't waste any time finding the Pokemon Center; although he did notice a cave as he walked along Route 2... it would've been enticing if he'd found it earlier in the day, but he wasn't about to go and explore a cave at night; it really hadn't worked with the forest, after all. After a little while Hayes eventually found the PokeCenter as it's red roof stood out even at night, and he headed inside.
Nurse Joy greeted him after he entered, and Hayes asked if they still had any rooms available after he'd walked over to the front counter. A bed would be appreciated, but he knew it was late... thankfully, it turned out there was still a few available. He handed her his Pokemon and asked if she'd seen either Matt or Teddy around as she prepared to take them in the back, and after a brief description of the two of them she remembered. They'd come in earlier, she said, and that she'd go and let them know he'd arrived as soon as she brought the Pokeballs over to her Chansey so it could take care of them.

Matt had sat down on the floor leaning against Skarmory, who in response craned its neck to lay in his lap, while he listened to Teddy talk about Johto. He nodded silently while running his fingers over Skarmory's steel plumage. The places Teddy described sounded amazing and he wanted to visit them one day, while also reminding him of some of the places he'd been to in his home region. Matt laughed when Teddy mentioned there being a lot of Hoenn. "Haha, yeah. Hoenn is a very tropical region, lots of water and trees. I'm actually from central Hoenn, near Lavaridge City, so there's mostly mountains and hotsprings, which are the perfect conditions for hatching eggs apparently. But the rest of the region is very different. Villages built on top of trees, coastal cities, even a town built into a giant meteor crater. I miss it, but I'll visit again once I become Champion." Matt said with a determined nod. Right after Matt finished his talk of Hoenn, a dainty knock was heard at the door before Nurse Joy's voice came through. "Excuse me boys, but I think your friend is down in the lobby." Matt got up suddenly and looked over at Teddy. "Finally!" Matt excitedly said with a grin and headed towards the door. "You guys stay here and be good, we'll be right back."

Matt told Teddy about how exotic Hoenn was. Thinking back to his home region, Johto didn't seem that ridiculous in scale. The Whirl Islands were about as amazing in terms of how the landscape could be for Johto. The idea of an entire city set around hot springs sounded amazing. Teddy could imagine hanging out with his Pokemon there ever so vividly. "Never visited a hot spring city. I would love to visit there sometime though. Who knows how far our journey might take us." Teddy said. He was about to ask about the crater, that sounded particularly interesting, but then Nurse Joy appeared in the doorway claiming that someone was down in the lobby looking for them. Teddy looked to Matt. They both knew it was Hayes. Teddy leapt from his chair once more, this time sticking the landing and made for the door, only to look back "Whilst we're gone...Bulbasaur, you're in charge" Teddy said.

Hayes stood up by the counter as he waited, glad it hadn't turned out to be much of a hassle to find them in the city; a little bit of luck at the end of an unlucky day... although it'd actually been an alright day, he thought, aside from a couple tough encounters in the forest and realizing he didn't have a Pokedex on him in the morning; he had caught two other Pokemon after all, and it hadn't been nearly as much trouble to find the Pokedex as he thought it would be.
"Ah, Matt! Teddy!" Hayes shouted once he spotted the two of them, waving at them. It had been early in the morning when they split up, but it occurred to him he had gone and disappeared an awful lot ever since they started travelling together... not on purpose, but all the same. He reached back and pulled out the Pokedex after he'd called out to them and gotten their attention, holding it up for them to see. "I found it." Hayes smiled, waving it about in front of him.

Teddy skipped his way back down to the lobby of the Pokemon Centre. He was looking forward to having the gang back together and with Matt going to challenge the Pewter Gym Leader in the morning, Teddy was in need of a new training partner. Soon enough he was in the lobby and there, leaning against the counter was Hayes. He spotted them first and greeted them, waving his Pokedex in the air. "Was beginning to worry about you. I thought you'd gone all the way back to Pallet for a new one man!" Teddy said going in for a high five with their returned companion. "You'll have to tell us all about the journey you've had. Can't have been easy going back through that forest again" Teddy said, leaning in close to Hayes he whispered "Especially after last time with the cob webs" and with a wink and a swift nudge in the side. "We're all settled in with the Pokemon in the room above. They getting one for you? I can sleep on Munchlax if not" Teddy said, with slight concern for his tired companion.

When Teddy mentioned wanting to visit Hoenn and that they had no idea how far their journey would take them, Matt smiled and nodded. "The world of Pokemon is a very vast one, after all." Matt said in agreement. Matt followed Teddy out of the room towards the lobby after he told his Bulbasaur that it was in charge of the others. He was sure the Pokemon would be fine on their own. Hopefully... Matt turned the corner into the lobby and saw their friend Hayes leaning against the counter while Nurse Joy was healing his Pokemon. When he saw them he shouted to them and waved the Pokedex at them. Matt smiled and gave him a thumbs-up before the three of them reunited. Teddy high-fived Hayes and made a subtle comment about webs and the Spinarak incident. Matt stifled a chuckle and felt it'd be better not to bring that up anymore. At least not for a little while. "Good to see you man, glad you were able to make it. We were starting to get worried. Anything interesting happen? Where'd you find your Pokedex?" Matt chimed in after Teddy. Teddy then asked what Hayes was doing for rooming and mentioned he could sleep on his Munchlax. It was at that point that Nurse Joy returned with Hayes' healed Pokemon. "Your Pokemon are now healed. We hope to see you again." She said, as if rehearsed and said countless times. She paused there for a moment before speaking again. "If you'd like we could bring up another cot for your room." She offered and a courteous smile.

After a high-five and before Hayes had a chance to say anything in response, Teddy mentioned the incident as he winked and gave him a nudge in the side. He instantly tensed up at the mention of it and looked at Teddy, but it wasn't hard to tell he wasn't trying to really bother him. After a nervous laugh, he stepped away from Teddy and hoped to play it off and change the subject, but Matt did for him; asking about the Pokedex and if anything interesting happened.
"Someone dropped it off at the Pokemon Center in the city, I must've dropped it before we'd even made it into the forest." Hayes sighed, putting it back in his pocket after he'd answered him. After he'd put it away, Teddy asked if he'd gotten a room and before he could answer Nurse Joy had returned, offering to bring a cot up in Matt and Teddy's room while he took all of the Pokeballs she'd brought back. "If it's no trouble, that'd be perfect. Thanks." He replied, thanking her for both the offer and for the Pokemon. Nurse Joy nodded, and then walked away with her Chansey; presumably to get the cot up into the room while they all talked. He turned back to Matt and Teddy after she'd gone.
"I'll fill you in up in the room, if that's alright?" Hayes asked. "I'm about ready to collapse, it'll be good to sleep in an actual bed instead of...." He trailed off, deciding he didn't want to think about where he'd slept last night.

Teddy listened intently to the story Hayes had to tell about where his Pokedex was. Finding it at the Viridian Forest Pokemon Centre was admittedly not as exciting as Teddy had imagined. In his mind, Teddy had imagined that Hayes would confront his own fears and find his Pokedex in the nest of the Spinarak who had stolen him away during the night. Using his high intellect and quick Pokemon based moves, Hayes would have won the day, his Pokedex and his dignity once more. Teddy did not tell him this however.
"Gee. That's a relief I bet." Teddy said, letting out a big sigh of relief. He decided at this point to not mention the Spinarak incident (as it would become known) again, at least for that night. It was at that point, they were joined by Nurse Joy again who returned some more Pokemon and suggested the addition of another cot for the room. Hayes agreed, commenting that it would be much better than where he had slept the night before. He said it. He actually said it. He totally realised too before trailing off. Teddy thought, perhaps too much as he scoffed a laugh back, causing him to immediately blush.
"That's great. Pfft. Let's head back to the room. The Pokemon will pfft be glad to see you" Teddy said, turning around quickly to hide the laugh and skipping back to the room.
