Nebraska in August is suffocating. The humidity matches the temps on a regular basis and it's flood season!! Which means mosquitos the size of apples!! Of course you are still in tornado alley too..... just do yourself a favor and avoid Nebraska in August. Also Omaha during the College World Series (early June) is INSANE!! almost a 1:1 ratio for tourist to local. CRAZY!!

Vengefulbeauty try visiting egypt. hands down, its the worst place to go during the summer due to the lack of rain and sandstorms gonk . i'm from cairo and still hate summer there, and when my american friends come to visit, they always complain about the heat. one of my friends even pasted out due to dehydration, and she had only been there for 3 hours!
[ oh no, I'm going there this summer during July. ] gonk gonk
[ Shangai in July was probably the hottest I have ever been, and I'm from sunny California.] gonk
[ It was so hot that everythng I touched was hot from the sun and felt like it was burning me.] gonk
[ That's 4 gonks in 1 post...geez.] xd

Southern Egypt was pretty bad. I am not a fan of really hot climates though.

I don't know how many people would consider it, but don't go to Las Vegas, Nevada, in the summer. Northern Nevada is bad enough, but Vegas is worse. Daytime highs can be up to 110 (Fahrenheit). Though it gets cooler in the night (typical Nevada weather), which is a plus for nightlife, I suppose, the day will be too hot to do anything in. Plus, there will probably be a lot of tourists around who hadn't thought of the heat, crowding around all the sights and such.

Yes, i would agree with not going to Las Vegas... unless you are one of those lizards that like god-awfully hot temperatures.
I would not recommend going to Disney World in the summer if you can help it. Yes, summer may be a convenient time to go for you but... guess what? It's also most convenient for the rest of the world. It is CROWDED and EXPENSIVE.
If you want to go there, go in October. I went there then and we actually walked on Kali River Rapids THREE TIMES. Though it helped that we go there as soon as the park opened.

San Antonio, Texas. You could fry an egg on the sidewalk and then sweat to death from the humidity before you could eat it. The fire ants are an especially lovely suprise. You walk someplace (something I was repeatedly asked NOT to do by Texans, they only believe in driving) and if you stopped a minute to put on some sunblock the fire ants would swarm out of the cracks in the road (no sidewalks) and EAT YOU ALIVE! Man they were bad news. So, about 180 percent humidity, 100 plus degrees, terrible rain storms and fire ants = not a good place to holiday. I wanted to go to Michaels which I could see from the Travelodge, and it would have cost me $20.00 to go ONE WAY there in a cab, (no bus or shuttle) as it was on the other side of the six lane highway and you had to DRIVE 5 miles to the exit and then go across and drive the five miles back up! Remember, no sidewalks. Somehow I didn't think the kids were up to a race across six lanes of highway traffic in two directions. eek

.husbife [ Shangai in July was probably the hottest I have ever been, and I'm from sunny California.] gonk [ It was so hot that everythng I touched was hot from the sun and felt like it was burning me.] gonk I have to agree with Shanghai. I lived there three years. Every summer was miserable. Not only is it horribly humid and hot, the air is horrifically polluted with car exhaust and cigarette smoke.

Las Vegas and Laughlin are horrible places to be in the summer time unless you plan on spending the whole day in a casino or by the river. Some of the middle east coast states get pretty humid too. I will never visit South Carolina in July again xp
