I say if a quote more accurately explains your opinion than your own words do, by all means use it. Don't base your argument off of quotes, just use them to eloquently explain your point of view.

A good quote every now and then is a good way to suport your opinions. Unless it has nothing to do with the argument and you just throw it in. Then its just stupid. (Although an excellent wy to confuse people.)
Puppy are awesome. Mine just left shredded carboard box all over the floor. How nice.
