"Ha, low indeed."

Kluna retorted, her personality bubbling to the surface, sarcasm very apparent. Her paws stretched, claws finding their way into the sands that had dusted the paths of their home. She'd found herself slightly irked by all of the ramblings surrounding the very lion she figured was simply another annoying lion, that wasn't about to change - regardless of his pridal standing.

"Perhaps."

The high priestess had a hard time admitting things on a good and though she recognized talent when she saw there wasn't a chance in hell that she'd be mentioning such praise to Tethys. Of course he didn't need it, his work ethic spoke for itself and clearly he'd made a name, something some lions dreamed of! Her blue eyes glanced among the crowd and bounced across a couple pelts she recognized made note of who she may end up sending prayers to the gods for.

Then a realization gave her a good smack on the tip of her nose - he'd likely want a blessing, she'd make him beg.

----------

Pride sparkled in the eyes of Zjarri`fol as the smile disappeared on the Captain she had been speaking with, something about setting the tone made her feel a touch more powerful - not that she could rise the ranks much more until the next Breytast. The thought of attempting such a feat nearly made her grin, but quickly she brought herself back to reality.

"We will be ready for the briefing." The tone had been caught, but the blue lioness didn't make any assumptions to it's meaning. "Our minds won't change, though I appreciate the chance - just in case." She admitted, the suggestion was almost courteous in a way that she, as a new mother, could appreciate - being a female meant playing the role of mother to many young and strong future Vikings. This of course meant that her body paid a price and also her time took a hit. She'd planned for this and though she hadn't discussed her plan with any others just yet she felt that there wasn't a chance she'd be turned down.

"We'll keep in touch."

She didn't leave though, instead taking to the side and simply seating herself. Before reaching this point she had been in touch with a couple lions who had volunteered to join her band - one that stood out in her mind, also a female, may show up.

----------

Bjorn was prepared to leave at that point, perhaps find a drink and settle down for the evening after such an event. To many moments like that and he feared that perhaps he'd be banned from seeing his own grandchildren, the future of his home. Of course he wanted to be able to see his daughter as well, but that ship had nearly sailed so the tension was high.

"Oh Dione."

Blue eyes widened as he caught sight of the pale lioness that had set him straight and the high priestess - he didn't regard the high priestess right away, which was perhaps a bit rude but he did eventually provide a small smile. "How are you today?"

Dione shook her head, she knew that her brother was already in Kluna's bad books for his previous outburst when he'd been unwell. The High Priestess didn't take to disrespect well, and given that he'd never apologised for it, she probably hadn't forgiven him. Dione was slightly more forgiving in that respect, acknowledging that every now and then apologies weren't needed... Though one would do well to remember their place depending on where they might be at the time.

Regardless, Dione was growing accustomed to losing some arguments with her brother. It wasn't that becoming a Captain had made him stubborn, it was simply a case of him finding his place in society. He had gained strength and confidence under the guidance of his former captain and his Reavers... To the point that he didn't really need his sister nagging in his ear the whole time - he could make his own decisions.

Dione cast another glance towards the High Priestess; she hoped in time she would be able to take the same level of pride. She knew Kluna was more than capable of training her and she would become a very good priestess in time, but she did need to be patient.

...Unlike her brother, her fate had fallen quite so easily in to place!

"Well, we'll see how that turns out," she murmured with both brows raised as she referenced the activity around her brother and chuckled. It would work out somehow, he seemed to have a knack for that anyway.

However when a familiar voice addressed her she did pause momentarily and and turn to look. She was met with the apparently surprised lion she had unfortunately traumatised with her drums... But it looked like he had been doing splendidly since then, he looked completely sober at the moment to say the least.

"Bjorn," she greeted him with a half smile. "I'm doing well today," she replied and then motioned to her brother. "Perhaps you could explain what's going on to the High Priestess and I? My brother doesn't appear to be performing any jester-like stunts at the moment so the crowd is a little peculiar."

Tollak was aching with a growing curiosity. It was no small secret that the lion was eager for any sort of chance to test his abilities. While he acknowledged it was pretty disheartening circumstances that would lead to the potential adventure afoot, any journey out to the roguelands was a journey to catch his attention. The dull noise of day to day activities was boring and unbearable for Tollak’s wanderlust spirit. He craved to be anywhere doing anything other than resigning to a schedule of boring routines for the rest of his miserable life.

The grey lion tried not to look overly giddy as he strolled to the gathering crowd in the heart of the town. He carried a certain amount of bounce in his step as he moved, but had enough common sense not to grin like a madman at the prospect of adventure. He felt he was managing to come off as maybe a bit tipsy, which was fine. So long as nobody figured out just how excited he truly was. He could hardly stop thinking of the glory this mission would bring. Who knew? Maybe he'd be promoted to captain for his valiant efforts while out in those dangerous roguelands!

Elsewhere Tordenskall was also drawn to the events unfolding. Though perhaps for a more valiant reason. Rumors of how Captain Tethys was seeking payback had struck a chord with him. It was an odd sort of moment where he instantly felt compassion for the lion; justice was sometimes no easy thing to seek. With the full desire to see whatever enemy had wronged one of the stormborn be punished Skall lumbered slowly to the gathering area. Sizing up the crowd he elected to stay a fair distance to the edges of the growing number of lions. Were they all here to also announce their intentions to join Captain Tethys? It made Skall smile to think he wasn’t the only one who had been moved by the new Captain’s plight.

He was starting to feel a little crowded and just a touch cramped, thus he gave Taranu a nod. No doubt the young freeborn wanted to continue his conversation, but Tethys needed to walk just a little to get feeling back in his limbs. Perhaps if he mingled just a little then it would look less peculiar and more like a busy gathering again. As much as he enjoyed the limelight when he was feeling dramatic, there were times when he preferred to be left to his own devices.

It was as he got up to move around a little that he caught sight of two individuals that look particularly determined. Though they both gave off different 'vibes', both came with a measure of intent that he couldn't ignore. For want of a better description he seemed to have been marked and they were coming for him. Ah, but their demeanours did catch his interest and he raised an inquisitive eyebrow in acknowledgement.

...They might have approached from different sides, but both Tollak and Tordenskall had been seen. Given his acknowledgement towards the pair it would be safe to assume he was happy for them to approach. They might only have queries, or they too might have wanted to join him, but regardless of whatever their intentions might be, he was open to being approached!

The young male held back a grin when he knew that he'd been approved to join the raid. He knew that it was a battle that they were heading into and had no delusions of a guaranteed safe return. Or any kind of return for that matter.

The captain's words of warning did not put him off and served only to heighten the thrill of what was to come. If he was to be a great reaver, he could not back down when dangerous life threatening situations arose.

"What is a reaver who cannot look into the face of certain death? I will make sure to be prepared before departure," he said in response.

Taranu backed away and gave the older male his space to move forward. The crowd had grown even more since his arrival. Looking around and seeing every gave the young male a rush of excitement. This would be his first opportunity to go into battle at his brethren's side.

[Currently on scene: Iloziya, Zjarri`fol, Sabia`Deimos, Bjorn & Kluna - All are available to be chattered to about the events going on and such. <3]

Zjarri`fol regarded Sabia, for the first time since their arrival - as her right hand lioness she had often turned to her for various advice or to talk things out and today would be no different. Her pink eyes had caught sight of her Father speaking with a lioness, not just any lioness though the High Priestess's apprentice. "Do you suppose there is something more there?" She inquired lightly, to which she received a light nod from her partner in crime.

"I believe so Zjarri." Sabia, who had cooled off from the amusement earlier that day in regards to Tethys was finding a level head. "Though, I can't say if it's one sided." She mused which seemed to produce a small smile on her blue partners face. "You agree then?" She asked casually, deciding to seat herself off to the side with Zjarri now the seating looking just how she sounded, casual - though of course her adornments made her look nothing short of frightening, or at least a curious sort.

"If it is, then I should feel bad, but given his recent behaviors I'm not entirely surprised." Of course she should let go of it, get past his previous actions and forgive them as well as forget. Forgiveness was the easy part for her, to forget? That would be a struggle she may never learn to win. "You shouldn't be so hard on him, you know?" Sabia offered the unusual advice as coolly as she could, but winced a small amount as her own Father was brought into memory.

"Says the lioness who truly has Daddy issues..." Zjarri said with a sneer.

----------

The half-smile from her was enough to wipe away some of his worries and even relieve the stress that had burdened his shoulders. For the moment he stood a little taller. "Well, from what I can tell it appears lions are pledging themselves to join him as a Reaver for his band or to come along as a fellow Captain." He said, nodding towards his own daughter.

"Zjarri has done so, I plan to join her during this." He offered with a little more pride than he had expected - he also hoped he'd still be able to do so given the way her meeting with Tethys had gone down. His brow furrowed as he thought a little to hard on this possibility and he forced himself to relax a little, try to forget the worry.

"Were you two on a stroll?"

He inquired, feeling a little silly about the question.

----------

Kluna grew silent during the exchange between Dione and Bjorn, simply nodding at the smile given by their blue company. She had little interest in what was going on, even her curiosity was dead today, when it came to Tethys she held a grudge, one that didn't allow her to feel much else - as Dione had figured he was certainly in her bad books for the time being.

It was only when Bjorn mentioned their wandering that she spoke. "Yes, a stroll." The answer was simple, to the point - he hadn't regarded her with the proper respects, so she moved on and had already decided his fate.

----------

The dark male lion who had been situated nearest Tethys for most of the greetings had decided to stand, take a walk and stretch. If he was being honest even he was surprised by the turn out, there wasn't a chance in hell that he would have predicted the turn out, but of course the more the merrier - in fact it could be considered a pleasant omen. "The Great Lion smiles on him." He said quietly and as out of ear shot as he could be, not that many others would recognize such a thing - or so he assumed.

A few more steps and he threw himself into a rather dramatic stretch that was accompanied by an enthusiastic yawn, this was going to be one of the longer days he'd seen, considering a vast majority of it had been spent sitting.

Dione's expression seemed to twist into a strange one as she heard Bjorn's explanation. While he may not have understood it, she cast her gaze towards her brother for a brief instant. She doubted it was his intention to get everyone involved, he probably would have preferred to keep things reasonably small to avoid unnecessary casualties... but she also recognised who the Stormborn were. They had picked up on the smallest whispers, those whispers had then turned to shouts, and suddenly everyone would want a piece of the action.

...How long they intended to stay on the battlefield was another matter entirely, but for now, they wanted a paw in the glory. Frankly she didn't blame them, in the grand scheme of things this would be an easy win, but she sincerely hoped her brother would have the foresight to at least brief them on what they would be facing. All they needed was for their very pale comrades to be led away and murdered without a fight while their captain's floundered and attempted to work out what the hell had happened.

"We were on our way to inspect any new goods that may have been brought in recently," she replied at last and glanced towards Kluna. "We are somewhat low, so we were hoping some of the Reavers had brought something of use home," she concluded. She wouldn't dissuade Bjorn from pursuing his daughter in to battle, that was up to him, though hadn't his daughter become a mother? It seemed a little impractical to be leaving for such an extended period of time...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sooooooooooo," the familiar voice fell in to step behind Ziya as he gave his dramatic yawn and uttered his remarks. They were so unlike the Stormborn greetings that it had been enough to pique her interest. She was rather good at staying out of sight, often out of mind... But when she heard something curious and found herself with several questions, it wasn't long before the pale lioness entered the picture.
Alas, unfortunately Ziya was going to have to put up with the inquisitive freeborn for yet another barrage of questions, though on this occasion it seemed like they would have nothing to do with his sexuality. Small favours as it were, he'd brought up another topic which was much more interesting than teasing him over his 'affections' for his captain.
...of which he had none, but it was still funny.
"Who's the Great Lion?" Naima asked curiously as she looped round, gazing up at him with rather round eyes...
The last comment made by her Captain was the last of that day it seemed, she watched as the blue lioness moved away with a grace befitting most lionesses in her position. It was astonishing how much could change in a short period of time.
Deciding that her day was rightfully through as well she moved off to the side and dropped herself to the ground in a heap that suggested just how tired she truly was. The last little bit had taken a toll on her that's he'd not readily admit - not to a soul, but Zjarri and all the same she even kept it from her.
Giving a large yawn she dropped her head to her paws and closed her eyes, finding comfort in the darkness - but she didn't dare let herself fall asleep, not in such a public place.
----------
Kluna shared a sideways glance with her apprentice, surely their trip was none of anyone's business - perhaps she was wrong. She listened as Dione explained to her blue friend, Bjorn, about their tasks they had been under taking.
Small talk was a strange concept to her, it was something she still found little use for and in her time with Dione she had done more of it than in her entire life. The only times she spent making small talk was with personal inquiries, apprenticeship and with her Thrall - Stylter.
"Yes, we were getting some supplies - it isn't often I run out." She stated.
----------
Bjorn gave a glance to the high priestess, he'd never had to speak with her before and if he had his choice he wouldn't be involved with her today. She came off just as cold as the rumors had said, not often were rumors this true though. It nearly startled him out of his conversation with Dione - nearly.
"Did you find any? Or did you find us first?" He mused lightly, receiving a dirty look from the high priestess who didn't seem to appreciate his comment. Yet he didn't focus his attention on this dirty look and instead focused on Dione herself.
"If you haven't found what you need, perhaps I could accompany and help carry some of the items?" He offered, completely cutting out the high priestess in a fashion that was unbecoming, but he tried to care very little about the possible repercussions.
----------
"Oh how the gods betrayed me..." He cursed out loud at the familiar voice as it echoed surrounding him with immediate dread. Nothing good came of that voice, nothing productive and nothing - just nothing. His eyes narrowed and his found himself nose to nose with Naima herself. "This spot?" He remarked with distaste. "All of the spots available within our borders and you chose this spot?" His eyes rolled dramatically.
"The Great Lion is none of your concern - The Great Lion is much larger than us both actually." He stated, matter of factly. "So why don't you take that nose and shove it into someone else's business for once?" The words were a waste, he knew this probably better than most did and yet he still felt compelled to give it his best shot at pushing her away.
She was precisely the opposite, instead he considered her as more of a burr - one that he had to prove his sexuality too. Which when he truly thought on the matter to hard he realized just how painful that sounded out loud.
"Go away." He decided to reiterate.
He was a very, very, very brave lion...
One that would be punished for his insolence and Dione was going to give the High Priestess the perfect opportunity to do so. Bjorn might have been interested in making small talk with her and that was fine, but he really should have remembered his manners! Dione had therefore concluded that while she would happily chat to him, she was going to ensure that Kluna could make full use of their new pack mule.
"An extra set of paws would never go amiss," she replied with a half smile. "We are gathering materials for two, after all," she added and glanced round at Kluna. With her head turned away from Bjorn, he wouldn't have seen her raising an eyebrow towards Kluna. The High Priestess might not have been the world's best conversationalist but she was still in charge, and by now she knew Dione well enough to read her - Kluna could load Bjorn up until he could barely walk and Dione would call it physical training!
"So the more we can carry back in one trip the better," she gave a wave of her paw and smirked. "It means we can return to our research more swiftly that way," she pointed out, and with that, she began to stride off towards where the spoils of the last few reavings were being held...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"What can I say, I find myself naturally drawn to you," Naima gave a merry smile and gave the fur on her chest a pat down. He was his disgruntled self around her as usual, still trying to find his paws in this world and still fixated on the fact that she thought he was inclined towards men. It benefited her of course, she got a fair amount of action out of his determination to prove otherwise, but she'd lose all that fun if he realised that she knew all too well he had no interest in males in that way.

...Besides, he was cute when he was mad, his nose scrunched up just enough to make him look like a cub.

"If the Great Lion is that big then I rather think it's very important that I know who he is," she pointed out. "If you know who he is then does that mean Tethys does?" she asked and then gasped. Ah, she knew exactly how to get him to start answering these questions. "Ooooh he must be a male of significance to you, perhaps a father figure, does Tethys have to go and get his approval -"

She paused.

"Or has he already got it, is that why he's smiled upon?" She reached out and rested both her forepaws on his nose. "Am I attending a wedding?!"

Well...Two could play at this game, if he wasn't going to tell her straight then she was going to hit his weak spot. All was fair in love and war!

Yes! He had succeeded in earning the chance to spend more time with Dione, though by the look on her face it would be at a steep cost. Bjorn wondered briefly what exactly he was getting himself into, but it was to late and there was no way he could back out now.

"Of course, I'd be happy to help both of you." He had intended for the offer to just be for Dione, but of course she was tied to the high priestess. Something he would have to try and remember going forward, disrespect one and the other was sure to step right in. "Well, shall we begin then?"

----------

Kluna had tuned out the conversation for the most part and had simply stood there biding her time until they could leave to continue their collection of supplies. The blue lion couldn't meet standards if he tried and showing respect where it was due had clearly not been taught to him. So until he had made the offer he wasn't worth her attention. "Ah yes, you're right Dione. An extra pair of paws would be wonderful." She even smiled, nothing warm or comforting by any means, but it was there - they did exist.

"Absolutely." The high priestess was nearly enthusiastic as she pondered what they might need. While they were with the reavers, collecting their goods she'd have to spend some extra time finding heavy articles - even if they wouldn't need it right away or even at all. Every good they didn't need could be traded at another time.

"Best not to waste anymore time, let's get a move on." She stated and without hesitation she was on the move again, heading towards some individuals that had already begun pulling goods out for display.

----------

Silence. Iloziya had tried everything to sate this females thoughts that he had been in love with Tethys. So whenever she went on a rant he found silence was his best bet, but he nearly always lost to her or more so lost to his passionate frustration. As she spoke his nose scrunched up, basically how she liked it to and he snarled slightly.

"He's not important to you, I swear it and no Tethys doesn't know about him." Damn it. The words were out of his mouth before he could stop himself - now Naima knew two things, that he had spoken to the Great Lion and now that Tethys didn't know. If there was ever a time that he could die, now would have been great.

He paused.

Nope, not dead yet.

Inhaling deeply he closed his golden eyes and reopened them to stare at her coldly. "Tethys doesn't have to get approval. He will never have to get approval to be with me." Ziya realized afterwards that his wording could have been better to save him from more time spent of her thinking that instead of needing approval 'Tethys just took what he wanted', but he sighed and carried on figuring he was already doomed. "There will be no wedding, I don't know that I'd ever marry."

He stated plainly, the Great Lion had already brought him down and although every bone in his body was quivering with anger at her, he was just meh.

Ziya really knew how to put his foot in it, every time he opened his mouth and words came tumbling out it was as though he didn't think them through the entire way. Consequently, Naima couldn't help but mentally facepaw at his remarks... Oh she knew he wasn't inclined towards males but by the gods he made it so damn easy to imply it. Unfortunately for him she fully intended to file all of these slip ups away for future use, or immediate use depending on how truly stubborn the lion decided to be.

"I see," she mused thoughtfully, sitting back on her hindlegs as she placed her paw under her chin. So based on what he had said, he had differing views than the standard Stormborn. She surmised that this either meant that he wasn't from here, or his parents had come here and their old ideals hadn't been left behind. As such, Ziya had developed a weird, bastardised view of how traditional Stormborn beliefs functioned... Or he had simply blended it all together.

"That still doesn't explain who this great lion guy is," she continued and raised a brow. "Truthfully he sounds like an a** if you have to get his approval to do little things," she pointed out.

Oh it might strike a nerve or two, but eventually it'd dawn on him that he wasn't in a land where luck determined if you were free or a slave. At least, not when you were born here anyway.

"And why wouldn't you get married?" she demanded. "For all you know there's a wife in here somewhere who wants to get their paws on an attractive Reaver," she added. Her brow raised and for a brief moment, he might have realised she'd been screwing with him all along and her fantastical ideas about him and Tethys were one big joke.

"That being said," she pondered and shook her head. "You may be implying you can't marry a fellow male which would cause a few complications," she agreed. The moment lost as she returned to her normal trolling, it was safer for them both that way...

"I don't think I should really have to explain myself to the likes of you." Iloziya was only half listening when she openly spoke out against the one great being he'd known all of his life as all knowing. "Take that back." His golden eyes widened, then narrowed and he lowered his head, suggesting that he meant business.

"Have you met half of the lionesses here? One half will chatter your ear off and the other half wants to smother you while you sleep." He rolled his eyes - not realizing that he had basically left her out of that equation - fact of the matter was that Naima had a unique place in his life, one that he wouldn't be able to fill if she ever decided to up and fade away. "Would you marry?" He asked, curious why she was defending the idea so strongly and not noticing her near obvious mistake while he tried to puzzle out her passion on the subject.

"Wait.. what?"

"Did you just call me..."

The darker lion couldn't even finish his question though it rattled about in his brain - did she call him attractive? Clearly that would be a question for another day as she poked the bear once more. "There are no males, there would be no complications - how many damned times to I have to prove that?" He said with an underwhelming growl.

"Why?" she retorted. She'd beaten Tethys before, who was to say she couldn't somehow beat Ziya too? She'd put her money where her mouth was if she had to so his growling wasn't going to get him anywhere. Truthfully, she probably wouldn't admit she was in the wrong even if he did win, but she was going to figure out who this dumb lion was whether he liked it or not... even if she had to put on her Reaver boots and work it out.

She'd not make the best reaver but she'd handle that at a later date.

"And of course I would marry if I found the right guy," she wrinkled her nose as if this was a silly question. "Seems a bit of a dumb question really, most suitable females want an appropriate mate," she shrugged her shoulders. He may have deemed it to be a mistake but Naima had the gift of the gab and didn't have a hard time answering the questions he put forward to her. After all, she had nothing to hide.

...At least she didn't think she did.

"And you'll just have to keep trying to prove it until you realise," she paused and gave his nose a delicate pat. "That it's okay to be gay," she murmured reassuringly.

"Why?" He heaved a sigh that seemed to carry more weight than necessary - he was clearly plagued by many things on his mind that just simply wouldn't let up. "Because. That's why." Exhaustion had filled his voice, but there was still a defensive spark - even if he couldn't form a full argument on the matter. "I wouldn't insult something about you, just so we make that clear and in the open." Iloziya wasn't planning to strike out, though he did have half a mind to bop her should she continue her verbal attack.

"Ha!" He laughed out loud at her statement. "How could you possibly find the right guy? Even the right guy might have second thoughts..." The words were out of his mouth before he could apply a filter - harsh, was perhaps one way to describe what he had just said. Ziya knew the words were just him lashing out, but he couldn't apologize about it.

His eyes crossed as her paw reached to tap his nose and dramatically, as she pulled away, he reached up to wipe away her cooties - or whatever else may have been left. "I'm. Not. Gay." He pondered on it briefly, considering an offer.

"How about this... a duel - I win and you drop the gay stuff, maybe we can have a conversation that doesn't include my undying love for males. If you win, I tell you about the Great Lion?"

That ought to take care of that, now he would just have to rely on his capabilities to save him - how he hoped they could save him...

"He says...as he actively insults something about me," Naima pointed out in amusement. She'd not take offence, this male had always been a little tense. She couldn't quite put her paws on it but there had always been something amiss about it, like he hadn't quite found his place in life. Maybe that was why he was such a ridiculously easy target to pursue and torture. However, when he offered her up the opportunity to duel she raised a brow.

...What was this, he was attempting to bargain with her?

"How about this," she replied smoothly and lifted a paw. "If I win, you tell me about your Great Lion. If you win, then I drop the subject about this jerk of a lion with you," she supplied. It seemed that she wouldn't be allowing him to get away with the insistence that he wasn't inclined towards males. Quite frankly it was much to easy to terrorise him with it, and he fell for it every time. How was she supposed to get her entertainment if he wouldn't give rise to anything else?

Nope, it just wouldn't work.

He was too serious, which meant she still had a lot of work to do before she could release him into the wild again...
