Kirsi did not turn the lights on when she got inside. I guess I missed class. The thought drifted through her head but didn't mean much right now. She took off her shoes and coat, leaving them messy on the floor, and fell onto her bed in full uniform. Chance jumped up and licked her hand for a little bit before Kirsi pulled him into a hug. After staring dully at the wall for who knew how long, Kirsi called her mom. "Kirsi? Sweetie, what is it?" Something was wrong if Kirsi was calling during class time. "Um. Um." Kirsi suddenly felt like crying again. How could she cry so much in just one day? "Is everything alright? Kirsi?" Kirsi tried to control her sobs, just long enough so she could say she was fine. When she finally managed to sob Rina's name, Kirsi's mom knew. It happened when she was on a farewell trip with her dad, so her parents had decided to hold off on telling her until she got home for the holidays. But now, Kirsi's mom did what she could, comforting her daughter who was hurting and so far away.
After a long call, Kirsi finally shut her phone. Her dad was out of phone service right now, but he could call later, if she wanted. For now she drifted slowly to sleep, arms around Chance and memories of her past drifting through her head.

Maria headed down the hall and along the pathway to the Salamence dormitory. Homework in hand the Flygon had no idea why Kirsi hadn’t been in class. What would make her not be there? Maybe she was sick. The brunette hoped not. Either way Maria was going to make sure that Kirsi got her homework. Lillipup pranced along beside her trainer as she took in the usual smells of the academy grounds. “Once we give Kirsi her homework we can think about dinner, okay guys?” She told them. “Pup pup.” (Okay sounds good to me.) Lillipup replied. “Purr Espurr…?” (What about our homework?) The psychic type asked. “Lillipup.” (Homework can wait.) The pup answered her fuzzy friend. “Don’t worry Espurr. We’ll get there.”
Getting to the building, Maria let herself in. “Okay, I know she’s on the second floor…” She muttered to herself. “Pup.” Lillipup barked as she started going up the stairs. Maria followed her while trying to remember. “I believe its room 201.” She finalized. Lillipup sniffed around trying to locate Kirsi or Chance’s smell. Sure enough her noise led her to room 201 so her trainer had to be right. Walking up to the door, Maria knocked on the door. Hopefully she was there because the girl couldn’t think of any other place Kirsi could be if she wasn’t.

Kirsi didn't know what time it was when she woke up. The light from the window had faded, so it must be kind of late. She wasn't really sure what to do, so she just kept laying there. Chance had shifted to his side so his legs could stick out comfortably. Kirsi sighed. She didn't exactly feel better, but... There was a knock on the door. Kirsi slowly pushed herself up, staring at the door. Someone's...here... Was it Koru, wondering where she'd been? It couldn't be Ray- why would he care if Kirsi was okay after he didn't even tell her about... about...
Kirsi swung her legs off the bed. She was shaky when she got up and rubbed her eyes wearily. They weren't red anymore, but she must look awful with her wrinkled uniform and scruffed up hair. Chance stood, stretched, and shook himself, sending fur flying over Kirsi's bed. Kirsi didn't bother turning the light on, she just walked to the door and opened it a bit. "Oh, Maria..." she hadn't expected Maria to be here. Chance poked his head around the door, sure that he smelled his friend Lillipup and Espurr too. "Gruff," [ Hi ] he whuffed softly, still wary of upsetting Kirsi. "Gowl growl," [ Boy am I glad to see you guys. ] He really didn't know what had been wrong all day, and he was still confused why seeing Ray had made Kirsi sad instead of happy. He had been so happy to see Ray again, but Kirsi just started crying! Kirsi did her best to make eye contact with Maria, though she found it hard to not just look to the side. "What's, um, what is it?" She didn't really feel like pretending to sound happy.

There wasn’t any light coming from the door, course Maria hardly noticed that. It wasn’t until the door opened that she realized it was dark in the dorm room. Kirsi most have been sleeping. Maybe she really was sick. Seeing Kirsi, the brunette could tell something was off. Her uniform was wrinkled and her hair messed up, which was probably from sleeping. Even her voice sounded off. Course she hadn’t been expecting Maria so perhaps it was just shock of the Flygon being at her door.
“Hey Kirsi,” Maria greeted her with a small smile. She really was worried about the girl. She glanced down to see Chance, whom Lillipup was happy to see. “Pup.”(Hello.) She replied back just as gentle. Something wasn’t right with Kirsi that much she could sense too. What she wasn’t sure. Espurr looked from Chance to Kirsi. He didn’t get what was going on either. “Lillipup…?”(What’s going on…?) Lillipup asked Chance wondering if her fire type friend would know. It seemed unlikely, after all humans were very confusing about their feelings.
Maria looked back up at Kirsi as she asked what it was she was there for. It was at the moment she practically forgot she had the Salamence girl’s homework in her hands. “Oh, I just came by to give you your homework.”She said holding it out to the girl.“You weren’t in class this afternoon and I told Mr. Bennet I’d make sure it got to you.” She explained. “Is everything alright?” Maria asked rather softly. She wasn’t sure if Kirsi would want to talk about anything with her even if something was wrong. However, the Flygon wanted to make sure everything was okay. She’d expect the same thing from other with her.

Kirsi stared at Maria. She looked the same as before. Nothing changed. Nothing... It had felt like her whole world had come crashing down on her; how badly Kirsi wished she could go back to feeling carefree. She looked at the pups talking and tried to appreciate how cute they were, but she couldn't feel anything. "Growlithe." [ I don't know. I don't like it. ] Chance was staying calm for Kirsi because he was a good boy, but he was very upset. He was supposed to protect her, but he wasn't doing a very good job at all.
Kirsi stared at the papers Maria offered her. Homework. Oh. Right. Mr.Bennet. She still felt bad when she thought of how he had seen her act with Marcus, but she sure wished she could go back and stay and sit on that bench instead of running away. She didn't really feel bad about missing class right now...what did it matter? Kirsi took the homework and nodded slowly. It was easy to act normal when she didn't have to talk. Then Maria asked if she was okay, and Kirsi wasn't sure how to respond, and she tried to answer but suddenly her throat was tight. "Um..." She tried really hard, but just the thought of saying it out loud made it feel more real and now her face was scrunched up trying not to let the tears welling in her eyes out. "Um." Then Kirsi's eyes met Maria's and the tears started flowing freely. How could one person cry so much in one day?

Lillipup figured she was right. Sure enough Chance didn’t know and she didn’t blame him for no liking it. “Lillipup.”(I’m sure Maria will help figure it out.) She told him reassuringly. It was the only thing the brown pup could think of that would help. She was human and therefore would understand better than any Pokémon could. Course if Espurr could read emotions maybe he could but she didn’t think that was possible.
Maria knew something was up but didn’t have a clue. As Kirsi took the homework, the Flygon wondered if it had been a bad idea to ask. However, if she hadn’t of asked what kind of friend would she be? Not a very good one. That’s what she thought anyways. When her friend’s voice sounded off and tears began to well up in her eyes, Maria’s heart went out to her. “Kirsi…” She said quietly. She didn’t know what to say. “Come on,” She said softly letting herself in. Kirsi didn’t need the whole Salamence house to see her like this. They’d probably ask far too many questions. Closing the door once Lillipup pawed in, she turned on the light. Espurr hopped off his trainer’s shoulder to join the others. Now he and Lillipup were even more confused.
“You don’t need to say anything.” Maria told Kirsi as she dropped her bag and gave her friend a hug. Something was hurting her and she didn’t know how to help.“Whatever it is that’s hurting you I promise it’ll be alright.” She said. Probably something she should promise but usually everything got better with time. Letting Kirsi go, Maria handed her a tissue. She could definitely use it.

Kirsi followed Maria back in wordlessly, feeling a rush of gratitude as she closed the door, saying she didn't need to explain anything. Kirsi tried to hold back from crying even though the tears were running down her face, but moments after she felt Maria's arms around her she let out the first sob. Kirsi was shaking but able to keep herself in check, only sobbing a little. She took the tissue Maria offered but ended up squeezing it in her hand. "No, it's not alright. It's never gonna be alright." Her mouth half opened in a silent wail. She shuddered when she closed it, then sat on the bed. "It's never..." She stared at the tissue in her hands, unfolding and refolding it again and again.
Chance stood a little ways away, not sure if this was helping or not. It was better than the last time a friend came to talk to her though. "Growl...gowl..." [I think...it's working?] If he got the Koru, would that help too? And maybe the Ava, and the Xia, and...and...how was he supposed to know which humans would help and which wouldn't? He was sure Ray would make Kirsi happy. Frustrated, he pawed at the ground. He had never felt like this before. I...I... He hated feeling like this.
Despite how empty she felt, how unable to care about anything right now, Kirsi's stomach gurgled softly. It felt neglected after a long day with little food. Kirsi let out one laugh that was more a sob. "S-sorry...I guess...I should eat..." But Kirsi just kept sitting there, staring at her tissue. She didn't really feel like getting up.

Ooc: Welp, we tried haha. I guess we could just assume the battle ended in a tie or Koru winning (without any sort of exp/fp distribution) for RP-purposes? I'd assume Kirsi didn't win bc she's so out of it. I'm responding to what Koru said here bc it would be weird not too haha :p
Kirsi rolled over in bed, hugging her ivysaur plushie tight. She stared down at its big eyes, and thought about Koru and yesterday...

Kirsi stared up at Fletchling, failing to follow the pattern and think ahead. She didn't know how Kai was supposed to fight something like that, but hopefully if it swooped down again he would know what to do. She felt a pang of guilt, but it was like no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't get her brain working right. Koru's voice, directed at her, brought her gaze back down to her friend. Oh great. She had really hoped Koru wouldn't say anything so she wouldn't have to talk about it. Thought actually...a part of her had been hoping Koru would notice. "Um... Yeah, I wasn't really feeling up to class." Kirsi hedged with her words, almost daring Koru to ask more.
They were distracted by a flurry of movement as Fletchling dove. Kai quivered, a brief flash of illusion as he masked his movements with an illusion. He darted forward and then jumped up, knocking into Fletchling's stomach with his head. Kai grunted with satisfaction. The bird scored a hit with its beak before regaining its distance. Kirsi felt a bit of her usual excitement stirring. It was an ember to the fire she usually had, but she was kind of grateful for the distraction. "We're just getting started too."
After the battle, which thankfully ended with neither of their pokemon being too hurt, Kirsi made an excuse to leave before Koru asked any more about why she was out of class and went straight to her room.

The ivysaur's big eyes stared at her from its green-freckled face. "Okay, okay," she mumbled. She had taken the night to decide that she would talk to Koru...if the opportunity presented itself. Kirsi's mumbling caused both Chance and Kai to stir. Kai, the little ball of dark fur, was curled up on the end of the bed for the first time since she had caught him. He went back to sleep, but Chance blinked awake. For a little bit, he thought of how glad he was to have a good friend like Cyndaquil (and that Kirsi and Koru were friends so they could see each other a lot). It had felt good to admit he was worried. He agreed with what Cyndaquil said: Koru could probably help. Before leaving he asked Cyndaquil to help him figure out how to get Koru and Kirsi to talk. And now that Kai had gotten a night's rest, Chance wondered if he could ask for advice from the zorua too.
But more important than that was the call of the wild... Chance stood, shaking the sleep away, and hoped off the bed. He trotted to the door and sat. "Mnnnn..." Kirsi groaned.
