"Y'alrigh' with bein' on thuh main team, Jess?" Jay continued walking, but was listening towards the beedrill crawling along the ground beside him. "Beedrill..." she buzzed back. It didn't sound quite as quiveringly uncertain as her usual indecisive, worried tone, so he assumed that was an indication of 'yes'. Or at least 'pretty much'. "Ah won' force ya ta battle'r nuthin', obv'sly, if ya don' want," he added while they walked along towards the cave, "But w-- MM!?!" Jay snapped his mouth shut as he jerked back, trying to retract his step as something suddenly shot out in front of them. Unfortunately, he didn't move quite fast enough; whatever it was clipped his heal, knocking his foot back just hard enough to unbalance him, and send him colliding with the ground. Jesse cried out in surprise and concern, quickly buzzing her wings to immediately move to his side, huddling her needles in worriedly, careful not to let them get near him. Since the... discussion that pokemon had with Mary Lee about her needles, she was even more self conscious and aware than usual, regarding keeping others safe with them.
Tod, who had been listening to the conversation, had moved in the opposite direction, and leaped onto the spinning shell, tackling it from its trajectory. The colliding momentum sent him spinning off, but it also overturned the pokemon, sending it rolling, and ultimately landing on its back. "Squirtle!" the pokemon popped out of its shell, flailing in surprise, and then, in anger. "Squirt! Squirt, squirt, squirtle!" she demanded. Tod was pushing himself up, brushing himself off, grimacing in pain and turning in frustration to the assaulting pokemon. Like hell he was helping her up!
Jay, meanwhile, was recovering as well; he groaned, reached back to feel his head as he started pushing himself up. He didn't feel any blood or anything; it would probably just turn to a nasty bruise. He sighed, clicking his tongue and turning, listening, not only to the echoes, but for a sound of Zoey. He'd heard her take flight as he fell, but he couldn't hear her squeaking her usual supersonics. Given the furious cries, though... he had a good idea of what had just hit them.

Jacque made his way over to the flailing pokemon, where Tod was already standing, staring down at it with his little paws curled into fists. The squirtle finally seemed to become aware of her... place in things, and glanced between the two suspiciously. Jay crouched down by it. Given the earlier struggling sounds, he assumed it had landed on his back. Zoey swept down to land on his shoulder, giving off a few supersonics, and he took a step closer, bringing one knee down. "...Here," Jay offered after a moment, reaching forward to help right the pokemon. "De!" Tod objected. "Don' worry," Jay replied placably, placing the water pokemon on its feet, "Y'took it down 'fore, sure ya can do it again. 'N ahm sure it's aware've it."
The squirtle looked at him, looking him over and staring at his eyes. Was he.... blind? He certainly wasn't looking at her. His eyes had that funny, cataract look, too. Hmm... She closed her eyes, bowing her head thoughtfully and bringing one little fist to her mouth in contemplation. Jay, of course, was oblivious to this. "Y'got uh trainer?" he inquired. She blinked, looking at him. "Squirt." It sounded like a yes but she had shaken her head. She seemed to realize this, and then added, "Squirt, squirtle. Sq... uirtle," stumbling as she tried to figure out how to best communicate with him.
Jay frowned, then reached back for a pokeball. "Hold on," he urged. 'Jay don't you dare bring me out of my pokeball!' He stopped at Mimey's high, trilling voice, quite panicked, running through his head. 'Mahmy? Y'can use telepathy from in yer ball?' he thought, still frowning quizzically. 'Yes! I can! Now, at least. I've gotten strong enough, I'm just usually out of it. DON'T LET ME OUT, JAY,' she insisted. He drew his hand back slightly, raising his eyebrows a little. 'Alright, alright.... Y'know what she's sayin'?' he asked. There was a moment of silence. '... It's kind of hard to say since I can't hear her, but from what's going on in her mind, I don't think she has a trainer. Maybe you could take her! She seems open to the idea,' she suggested.
Jay quirked an eyebrow. Well, what a convenient mind reading pokemon he had on his team. 'Thank you!' Jay smiled. Right... She could hear his internal dialogue, too. He shifted, resting one arm on his still bent leg, his head slightly bowed to try and listen better to the pokemon before him. "Ahm guessin' tha's somethin' uva no," he remarked, though obviously it was far more than a guess, "If'n ya need... ya an come with us. Fer protection'r what have ya."
The water pokemon looked at him thoughtfully again, and this time, she nodded. "Squirtle," she complied. Tod ground his teeth a bit from where he stood. Great. Squirtle, however, was ignoring him, folding her arms as she waited to be caught. Jay reached back for a pokeball, holding it up. "If ya don' mind..." She looked at him, the pokeball, him again, and then finally stepped forward, pressing a hand to the little button in the center, and quickly disappearing inside.

The ball twitched a few times in the palm of Jay's hand-- once it had given a gentle 'ding' and glowed red (the former, of course, being the only indication he could pick up on), the wrapped his fingers around it, and turned his hand to release the pokemon from its pokeball. "Well, welcome t'thuh team, squirtle," he greeted, moving back to stand to his feet. 'She wants to be known as 'Crystal',' Mimey's somewhat tired voice came in. Jay quirked an eyebrow-- at the nickname, and at his pokemon's tone. Another reminder; he really needed to get her those moves... Hopefully he would be able to sit down and go through them all one last time once they reached the next location. He was fairly sure a good amount of them could be taught through heartscales and the like, but he was also pretty sure two of them were TMs. He could ask around, see if anyone knew how to get them... If they were just too difficult, though, he would settle for the tutor moves; he didn't really want to make Mimey stay like this any longer than he had to.
He refocused from the severely wandering train of thought to the pokemon, who, though he couldn't quite tell, was looking right up at him. "Whaddah meant was, welcome ta thuh team, Crystal," he corrected. The squirtle's eyes widened, and she leaped back, pointing up at him. "Squirtle!" she proclaimed, and Tod rolled his eyes. Mimey translated-- "Psychic!" though the way she said it, apparently, sounded more like a witch accusation. Jay quirked an eyebrow. "Ah ain't psychic," he claimed, though this garnered an understandably skeptic glare from the water pokemon, "Ah have uh psychic pokemon with me, though. 'N she's strong 'nough ta still do her thing through thuh pok'ball. Dun worry, she ain't pryin' inta your mind."'Much,' Mimey happily added. "M-- no, not at all," he started, frowning. He almost repeated her...
'Mur, fine...' And he could feel her presence recede a bit. He nodded, then turned his attention to the very confused looking squirtle, listening in her direction as Zoey squeaked. "Don' worry," he reassured, though Crystal looked dubious as ever. He nodded his head. C'mon, we should keep goin'," he urged.

Walking towards the cave, Jay reached a hand out, resting it on the side of the mountain side once he neared. Zoey was, as usual, letting out sounds to give him echoes to go off of, which Crystal watched curiously from below. Tod was still eying her suspiciously from Jay's other side, but she seemed to be ignoring him. Jesse trailed behind, glancing nervously between the two, buzzing and occasionally fluttering her wings to lift herself up and cover a distance in a sort of 'jump' when she started falling behind; her legs weren't very long, and she was much heavier and bigger now. She couldn't move as fast and keep up with the others, just yet.

Making his way towards the cave, Jay came to a stop as Crystal suddenly leaped in front of him, holding a hand out with her chest buffed out. "Squirt!" she demanded. He quirked an eyebrow, then, hearing her echo change as she lowered her hand and lift her other, he knelt down, lifting his palm up. She seemed to hesitate, then gave the small bundle of berries to him. He furrowed his brow, reaching up to feel what they were, fingering each one, then quirking an eyebrow. "... Berries? What, ya want me t'plant 'em?" he asked. She gave a sharp nod. "Squirt!" she confirmed. He paused, then tilted his head to the side. "Alright, ah can do that," he decided, standing up, and moving off from the path, "Bought sum uh little whail ago ah need t'plan anyway." He kicked at the ground as he drifted from the path some, crouching back down as the ground softened.
He felt over it with his hands, before working to dig a few holes, evenly spaced, planting four of the five berries squirtle gave him, and one of the others he'd been carrying with him. "Ahma keep this un," he said, holding up the fifth berry to her, "So ah can identify what we buried here, later." She nodded. "Squirtle," she agreed. He stood back up, tucking it away, and drawing out the four other berries he'd already had with him, feeding one to Zoey, who happily took it and began munching on his shoulder. If she had a tail, it would probably be wagging.
"Here ya go, Tod," he offered, handing one to the Dewott. The pokemon blinked, but took it, somewhat uncertainly, shyly drawing it back and taking a bite. "Jesse?" He turned, handing one to the bug pokemon, who pushed herself up, using her needle arms, to gently take it in her mouth, chewing it and swallowing with a happy buzz. He turned back, offering the last one to Crystal. "Y'want it?" he offered. She blinked, hesitated-- then snatched it, stuffing it in her mouth and chewing eagerly, looking off to the side. She blinked, though, her eyes widening a bit-- it was delicious!

Alright, enough lolligaging. "C'mon, we oughta get uh move on," he urged, striding forward, "We'll come back'n check on'em later. They'll prolly take uh while 'fore they grow. First.... Crys, y'mind waterin' 'em?" He listened back over his shoulder, pausing in his stride towards the cave, Zoey finishing her berry so she could help him see. Crystal looked over at him, wiping her mouth, then nodded. She took a deep breath-- then seemed to pause, struggling a bit, before turning her head up, spouting a blast of water up, and letting it rain down. Jacque ducked down and quickly side stepped out of the way. "Ah said water 'em, not make it rain!" he muttered, shaking his hand to get some of the water off.
"Squirt!" she replied snootily, though Tod could make out a slightly embarrassed blush on her face. What,w as that the only water move she knew, or something? He wasn't even sure what in the hell it was.... it seemed powerful. Shaking his head at her-- which she noticed --he turned to leave, following Jay as his trainer, finally, lead the way into the cave.

"Squirtle..." Crystal muttered, looking around as they entered the cave. It was dark, save for what little light got in, which was quickly dispersed as it reflected and bounced off all the mirror-like surfaces around. It was actually kind of beautiful... Crystal glanced up at Jay, quirking an eyebrow and frowning. Beautiful, and yet he had no idea. Did he even know what beauty was? She rubbed her chin thoughtfully. Well, then again, that was why she'd been considering going with him. If she was going to be entering contests, she would need a trainer... but a blind guy who would hopefully stay out of her way, was probably the best choice she could ask for. She didn't need anyone teaching her anything!
She gave herself a nod, agreeing with herself, and placed her hands on her hips (her shell, really). She closed her eyes as she strutted along just behind Jay's left side, while Tod stared, unimpressed at her ambiguous and bizarre expression of her thoughts, from his other side. Did they really need another water type on the team...

Jay slowed and turned his head. Crystal nearly bumped up to him, and looked up disapprovingly, but then narrowed her eyes when she noticed he seemed to be listening to something. What? She didn't hear-- Oh. She stopped, turning her head as well, as an odd hum reached her ears. She turned, spotting, through the dim light, a pokemon drifting towards them-- from the direction they came. How had they not noticed that before? She crossed her arms over her chest, ready to fight, but Jacque, apparently, had another pokemon in mind. "Jes, y'wanna give 'er uh go?" he offered.
The bee pokemon looked uncertainly up at him, buzzed nervously, but then nodded, buzzing again to confirm and, shakily, moving forward. "Alright. Don' worry, ahm sure it ain't as strong's you are. Try 'n start with Bug Bite," he urged. Jesse nervously ground her needles together, watching the pokemon as it drifted closer, then finally gave a clumsy leap forward, biting down on it, and letting go as she started to fall back to the ground. She landed, looking up hopefully, but it still seemed to be up, and she quickly closed her eyes against the retaliation. Shaking her head a bit, she looked back up, waiting for Jay's command. "Jus' use Twineedlle t'finish it off," he adviced. She lifted up her needles uncertainly, hesitated, then jumped up, jamming them at the pokemon, and finishing it off.
She landed, quickly lowering herself back to the ground, buzzing in a quiet, very demure cheer of victory-- 'Yaaaay'. Jay smiled as he heard the pokemon topple to the ground. G'job, Jesse. Toldja it wouldn't be too bad," he praised.

Jesse buzzed in response as she crawled her way back over, and Jay turned, continuing along the path. Crystal was staring at the bug pokemon with disapproval. ".... Shouldn't you be FLYING?" she asked after a moment, still walking, but her gaze fixed on Jesse. The beedrill blinked, buzzing nervously and glancing at her. "I, um..." she started lamely, but Tod intervened, his gaze stuck stubbornly straight ahead. "She doesn't like to," he stated flatly, "Leave it alone." Crystal narrowed her eyes at him. "Geez! What are you, her bodyguard?" she muttered, crossing her arms over her chest. She had come to a stop, staring challengingly at him.
Tod slowed, then turned back to her, glaring in response. "I'm Jay's STARTER. I'm supposed to protect ALL the pokemon he has," he snapped back. Jesse was now paralyzed, just short of in between the two, too afraid to continue forward for fear of getting in the crossfire. Luckily, Jay's lack of vision had nothing to do with his ability to hear, and if their voices hadn't been indicative enough, the cease of their footsteps would have alerted him to something. "Knock it off, yew two," he ordered, stopping and turning back towards them. Both Crystal and Tod snapped their heads up, Crystal stubborn as ever, but Tod's expression a grimace of guilt and surprise. He'd forgot Jay could hear them so well...
"C'mon. Ah hear 'nother pok'mon up ahead. Jesse, yer gettin' this un, too," he stated, turning to continue walking, putting a halt to what had been looking increasingly like a battle among teammates.
Despite the frightening promise of a battle, Jesse took the opportunity to scurry forward, even flickering her wings to soar over a small strip of the cave floor, to catch up with Jay.

Sebastian glanced up as the entrance to Reflection Cave came into view, eyes glancing around curiously as he quirked an eyebrow. He wondered if Jay had already gone inside; most likely now that he considered it. He considered contacting him a moment, tilting his head in thought. It was a bit hard to think with Rummy still chattering away. The Eevee was really quite the talker; it was rather frightening.
He glanced back to ask for a moment of silence before noticing that Spade had lagged a decent distance behind, crouching low to the ground and eyeing the cave with a twitch cautious look. The young man frowned, adjusting Gin in his arms as he walked back and knelt down next to the Mightyena.
"What’s the matter, Spade?" He asked, worry written on his face. The pokemon gave him a twitchy side gaze, looking between him and the cave and giving a little whine. It took a moment before Sebastian realized the problem, patting the hound on the head gently. Spade was probably dubious due to their last little venture into a cave; he couldn’t rightly blame him either. "It’s okay. You can go back in your pokeball and I’ll let you out once we’re out of the cave, okay?" He reassured, Spade twitching as he considered before giving a grunt of approval. Sebastian gave a nod, returning the Mightyena to his ball and replacing it on his belt, looking to the rest.
"Anyone else want to go back in their pokeball?" Blackjack just gave a bark of disapproval. Rummy didn’t seem at all phased, continuing to chirp away, his friend sharing the same lack of enthusiasm and giving what Sebastian considered to be a scoff. He gave a shrug, glancing down at Gin who merely wiggled and chirped. She seemed fine as well.
"Alright then. Stay close; I don’t need anyone getting lost in a cave of all places." That would certainly not go well. With that confirmed, they headed into the cave.

The group followed their trainer in a tense silence, and all could be aware of the same sound they'd heard before growing louder. Another Solosis, though Jay paused a moment. Jesse hesitated, hovering uncertainly beside him, her needle arms self consciously pulled towards her. "... Y'wanna sit this one out, Jes?" he asked. She buzzed-- he couldn't tell it was a reluctant no or a murmur of uncertainty, but it certainly didn't sound affirmative. "Don' worry, Her'cross could use thuh battlin'," he reassured, and he could practically feel the wave of relief radiate from her. She relaxed, stepping back a bit, and he reached for the other bug pokemon's pokeball.
He sent him out, issuing a simple command-- "Pin Missile" --which Heracross executed upon his release. The pokemon was already down by the time he happily turned back to the group, only to get a rather... cold greeting. "Squirt, SQUIRTLE!?!" Crystal exclaimed, stumbling back in shock, blasting the whole area with a sudden Blizzard. Jay immediately side stepped away, throwing an arm up; Jesse cried out in surprise, leaped about three feet ahead, then lowered herself down, belly to the ground. Tod stumbled back as well, putting his paws up to protect his face-- and Heracross just stood there, blinking a bit.
Once it died down, Jay immediately stepped forward again. "What in thuh HELL wus that, Crystal!?!" he snapped angrily. She glared defensively up at him, but she looked a bit defensive. 'She was surprised by Heracross' appearance, Jay,' Mime Jr informed him from the safety of her pokeball, 'I guess she's never seen a mega evolved pokemon... and he is kinda bizarre looking for a someone that hasn't seen him before....' Jay frowned. Crystal had now stubbornly crossed her arms over her chest, and looked away. Tod had had enough-- he strode over, giving a sharp, "De!" and shoving her, hard enough to catch her off balance. "Squirt!" she cried out in surprise, flailing and onto her back. As soon as she recovered over the initial shock-- which she did very, very quickly --she immediately began flailing her little limbs in rage.
"Squirt! Squirt! Squirtle! Squirtle squirt, squirtle squirtle SQUIRTLE!" she yelled angrily. Tod just crossed his little arms over his chest and watched her. Jay, however, rubbed his temples, letting her thrash around a moment, and then stepped forward, kneeling down and reaching behind her head to grab her shell where he head came out. He lifted her up, setting her back onto her feet, but not letting go. "Knock it off," he commanded in a low, unamused voice. She stopped, glancing, again, with defensive uncertainty. "Ah'll return ya both, but Crystal, ah only had ya uh few minutes're so-- don' think ah'll be takin' yer side over Tod's." She flushed angrily, and looked ready to retort, but he continued speaking. "Even if he shouldn'ta done whatever he did. Y'all calm down 'n leave each other alone 'r I ain't lettin' ya out 'cept for meals." He stood up, waited a beat to make sure they both understood, then turned back to Heracross, who had quite a bit of frost on him, but looked otherwise unharmed. The Blizzard had been cold but it wasn't really an attack.
"Good job, Her'cross. Y'wanna stay out fer uh bit?" he asked. "Her! Heracross!" the fighting-bug pokemon exclaimed, lifting up his arms and flexing his muscles. Jay, receiving an echo of it from Zoey's supersonic, smiled and quirked a questioning eyebrow but tilted his head to the side in a slight nod. "Well, alright, ahm 'ssumin' that's uh yes," he remarked with a bit of amusement. He started forward, but then paused. He remained still a moment, then turned his head, just a bit, to listen behind him. For a moment, his pokemon thought he was listening to something-- but then he spoke. "Crys... just how didja get a Blizzard attack...?"

For a moment, Jay's shirt pocket squirmed and Quena poked her head out, squinting around. She shivered, glowering to find the source of the icy air that had woken her-- but found nothing. She crawled out of Jay's shirt, to his shoulder, looking around, and then, apparently giving up, yawned. Instead of returning to her sleep, though, she scurried down, leaping from his chest to the floor, and bounding off.
Following along, the squirtle blinked at his question, staring at him with a furrowed little brown and a frown. "...Squirt," she uttered-- "Oh." Then, snootily lifting her head off to the side, "Squirt squirtle." Meaning, "I learned it." Mimey translated.
Jay sighed, turning to walk as he continued. "Ah know y'learned it. Ah meant how?" he clarified. She eyed him a moment, and continued walking, Mimey now tiredly translating directly, so he could essentially hear Crystal's voice. "I found it. I had someone use the disc thingy on me," she explained flatly, walking along, Tod irritably walking alongside Jay, trying to block her voice out. Heracross was happily marching along up ahead, oblivious (or just not caring).
"Alright... why, then? Weren'tcha wild 'fore ya joined mah team?" Crystal paused a moment, musing the question. ".... I want to do contests," she decided to inform him, then narrowed her eyes, stubbornly added, "And I'm GOING to, one way or another! If you don't let me, I'll find another trainer." She paused a moment in her aggressive threat, then relaxed a little, eying Jay's unfazed expression, which she could only barely make out from where she was walking behind him, gazing through the darkness. He had his head slightly turned to listen, despite the telepathic communication-- but, as if feeling her gaze, turned to look straight ahead. 'But... I do need a trainer to compete,' she added, trying to study him as she spoke.
"That's fine," Jay drawled, "Ah don' care much either way. I ain't gonna be much help, though, given mah feedback is limited." She blinked, but swelled up a bit; if she were a bird her feathers would have become poofed up. 'That's fine!' she claimed, ]'I know what I'm doing! I've been PRACTICING.' He raised his eyebrows, but at this point, his eyes were closed while they walked. "Ah don' doubt it," he absently replied back, "That Blizzard was pretty strong." She watched him, wriggling her nose a little. She couldn't tell if he was taking her... seriously or not...

Reflection Cave really lived up to its name. Despite the lack of a decent light source, Sebastian could make out the reflections of himself and his pokemon in the surfaces around him; to the sides, above and even in spots here and there on the ground. It was a little odd to see figures moving around and yet not actually existing. Like wisps and shadows through a fog expect it was darkness and not mist responsible.
Blackjack took the lead, sniffing along the cave floors and guiding the small group. Sebastian was grateful; he would’ve appreciated Spade’s help in this but he didn’t want him freaking out any further. It was nice personally to see the Houndoom still warming up to him. It’d only be a matter of time before the trainer had enough confidence to actually use the pokemon in a fight. "Look Dues! Other Eevees are in the cave!" Rummy chirped, running over and staring at his reflection with dedicated intensity. "He’s copying me too! That takes some skill you know."
"That’s your reflection, Rummy. Not another Eevee." Dues remarked, still padding along at a distance or two, only slowing to look at his friendly with a less than amused gaze. Rummy blinked, still staring curiously as his reflection, moving in sharp erratic fashion to determine the truth of this statement. "Oh…" He remarked, head quirking backwards as he gave a watchful gaze. "Get lost doppleganger me! You won’t steal my place in the world!" With a chirp he bolted forward, head-butting the reflective wall in retaliation before flopping back in pain. Dues just watched, not a hint of empathy on his face. "Stupid."
Sebastian looked over and frowned at the sight of Rummy dizzily getting back to his feet before glancing over at Dues. "Why do you let him do that?" He remarked, noticing the other Eevee watching. "Eev." Such a lackluster response and disinterested look cause their trainer to frown more.
"I know you two are talking to one another. I can hear it you know. Don’t let him do that." Was his final remark. Gin wiggled a bit as Rummy stumbled his way back over; it sounded briefly like she was giggling at the incident. Blackjack interrupted with a little bark, straightening up and looking forward into the cave. Sebastian paused a moment to listen, an eyebrow quirking curiously. The noise sounded a lot like… a Squirtle? He frowned. Another trainer perhaps? This really didn’t seem like a place for Squirtles to be running wild and all. He continued onward, squinting against the dark and the reflecting shadows that occurred.
"Hello?" He called when he spotted what he assumed to be an actual figure and not just another reflection. He really needed to invest in a flashlight or something.

Crystal straightened up and turned slightly when she heard the sound of someone else in the cave. Jay heard it too, and stopped, listening back closely. He could pick up on a few voices... Pivoting, he turned, taking one step in that direction. He was pretty sure he recognized one of the voices... Heracross almost missed that everyone else had came to a stop, but finally ceased in his marching, turning to look back through the darkness at the group. Tod was frowning in concentration, and Jesse buzzed nervously, shirking away as the sounds began to grow closer.

A smile crossed Sebastian’s face as he recognized Jay’s voice, coming to a stop once the cowboy and his pokemon were more distinct in their figures. It was still difficult to make out who was who, but at least he didn’t have to squint so hard to guess. It didn’t matter to much either way though; there looked to be a few unfamiliar faces.
"Hey there, Jacque." He replied back, once again the ironic little comment going over his head as he adjusted Gin once more as she wiggled. Blackjack paused next him, sniffing and eyeing the other pokemon with slight interest, while Dues watched Rummy become enthralled once more with another reflection of himself.
"Sure did; wasn’t a problem at all." He paused in consideration a moment. "Except the climbing. Could’ve lived without that." He cleared his throat at the thought, shaking his head and refocusing on the conversation at hand. He glanced at Jay’s pokemon, tilting his head curiously. "I didn’t know you had a Squirtle."
