It appeared trying to cover the area wouldn't stop Toso. Still, he could try to shock the hell out of him. He altered his chakra flow in a manner similar to the academy transformation technique. Instead of into a random object, he became an actual bolt of lightning and went flying across the room, bouncing off of the wall and ceiling and floor.

It was like an eloquent theatrical show with each of them passing each other by mere inches it seemed. But now...I suppose it was time. Toso would sheathe his brushes back to their sides. His hands were ready for a grand scale offense. "Sumi no Hasaki. GYOMOU KEISEI.((Ink Blade Edge: Fishnet Formation)) With each linear path he took a trail of ink lay suspended in mid air. Not one but ten. One per each finger tip. It was like a clawmark was being strewn across the sky it's progress recorded with each move. Repeating with each bounce from area to area. Speed and precision. He had been taking his time to gauge his surroundings. Each haphazard movement earlier was actually a well thought out calculation of how he may implement this technique without doing himself in. When the process was complete. The dojo was...a cage. There would be no place to move without being threatened by the the ink threads. Which bore a hostile cutting secret beneath them. Nathaniel would now be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Toso's bouncing while seemingly haphazard was still for the most part controlled. His was reckless abandon. Should he rematerialize himself anywhere he'd succumb to the edges of ink. What may have been true for Nathaniel was also true for himself unless he dispersed these wired constructions he was also unable to move. But for the most part...he was standing in the one safe place in the entire dojo. It was tight. If not for his metallic body there would have even been a few times he himself may have been grazed producing this well knit nightmare of ink. The set up however, seemed to have taken a lot of energy out the squid. As he spent this time watching Nathaniel's movements carefully.

xxxxx Admittedly, the ink blade technique was a smart move and it metaphorically cornered him. Since the lightning transformation technique moved so damn fast, it also made the world appear fast to Nathaniel and he didn't have the sense to pick a safe direction. He was at the mercy of the placement of the ink, which happened to be fairly brutal. He dispersed his own technique but not without suffering an incision on his face and several on his arms. He fell to his knees as he settled into his real form, remembering that another effect of the technique was nausea afterwards. He palmed at the ground for a couple of moments before turning to see Toso. "I guess I've got a loss under my belt too." He stood slowly and with the utmost caution to avoid getting cut further. There was no technique under his belt that could disperse the ink effectively.
He raised his hands in a show of submission before reaching for the cuts on his arm. "I needed to work on some medical techniques anyways," he ceded. Despite himself, he started to laugh. It'd been fun to spar with his leader but there was definitely a reason why he was leader. Beyond strength, the squid had beat him at every step and even stopped him when Nathaniel adopted his own hit and duck style. "Give me some time to plot my revenge and I'll be ready for a rematch." He was ready to shake on the completed spar but definitely felt wary about walking around in the inked-up room. His mind started running through future scenarios to beat the squid but it seemed to be a fair assumption that he'd have to reach Chunin rank himself to be formidable.

"Bloop, thank-goodness I don't think I'd be prepared if you had something up your sleeve to combat Gyomou Keisei." Toso would then form a sign with two fingers. The ink edges all burst in a splash of black droplets after a signature 'sploosh' noise. It then rained black for a good while until it all pooled on the floor and vanished from existence as this ink was made of purely chakra it wouldn't stain to the cleaning crews benefit. Toso gave off a weary sigh. He'd used up a lot of energy in that stratagem. Still his body looked no worse for the wear and there was yet to show any beads of sweat.
The same motion was made and the shiny sheen over his body also vanished. It then revealed itself that he wasn't as 'ripped' as he had initially appeared. He was by no means out of shape. There was indeed some abbage going on, they were just far less prominent. It seemed that the iron shell he made for himself included a bonus 'roided' out frame. Toso made steps towards his coat. Conveniently enough it happened to be in the 'safe zone' of course that was no accident. It seemed he held his coat in high regard. Re-affixing it to his person he'd walk up to Nathaniel pat him on the back and provide a "Good spar Nathaniel-kun Bloop." Then immediately without warning Toso seemed to have vomited on him covering him in salmon pink ink. [1/1 Mending Blend]
"Let's think of it as a greater reason for your future righteous vengeance. Bloop. I'll look forward to getting my butt kicked bloop." The ink cleared shortly after it was applied. Nathaniel's wounds would be closed. The ink had apparently seeped into his flesh and created patches of salmon pink to fill his innumerable cuts. "Bloop now you needn't worry about bleeding out whilst treating yourself. A Hojo clan precautionary measure. Bloop. The wounds will re-open eventually but consider it a form of band aid. It's how we Hojo prevent ourselves from bleeding out should any of our limbs become lost, until we can grow them back that is."

It had been a pretty good spar, all things considered. The next one would definitely be longer, and he wouldn't give up the first move. He was pretty deep in his thoughts when he was showered in pink ink. "Oh. You shouldn't have." He lifted his arms to look at their condition: pink. His wounds were then filled with the pink fluid and the one on his face was doing the same. He scrunched up his face at the sensation.
"Your faith in my medical abilities is heart warming." He knew the squid didn't mean it that way but it was definitely on his list of reasons to beat Toso at the next spar. His brow furrowed at the limb comment. "Wait- you can legitimately regenerate your limbs?" He stared at his arms and his mind began picturing an armless Toso.

"Yes, Bloop, and No Bloop. Personally I can't. At least not yet. Bloop. Limb regeneration is a sign of true Hojo maturity in most cases." The two tentacles emerged from the squids neck as they scanned the area as if they were a pair periscopes. "As you can probably guess bloop. Stretchy limbs are pretty versatile structures. Bloop." The extra snake like limbs of the squid launched themselves every which way stretching and retracting to prove a point about their maneuverability. "But that comes at a great risk bloop. Especially to well trained swordsmen bloop. Retracting one's limbs isn't as instantaneous as say the swing of a refined sword. Bloop. As a result our clan several times over have dealt with the maiming of our limbs and extremities. Bloop." The limbs began retracting themselves to hide once more in Toso's body. If Nathaniel was being extra perceptive he may be able to calculate the full withtracting of these limbs translated into about a second per 3 meters recoiled the limbs total extension of about ten meters.
"Bloop. So as a countermeasure our clan focused on producing the false limbs you saw just now and the ability to generate more thereof. Of course it's an excruciatingly painful process. But so long as the main socket to our limbs and extremities are still in tact we may bring them back after some discomfort. Excluding our head of course. Bloop." Toso took his seat. He wanted to see Nathaniel perform his medical feats upon himself. Eiseijutsu was unique that only few were able to use it freely. In it's own respect it might even be like that of a bloodline. "Several scientists and medical professionals you know have sought to try and isolate what allows us Hojo to regenerate our limbs you know. Bloop. Unfortunately those with good intentions haven't been able to figure it out entirely. Those with ill intentions find that we don't appreciate being treated as guniea pigs. xxxxx Nathaniel nodded as Toso explained his clan, biting down a remark about maturity and instead watching the agile tentacles with interest. He'd never considered the risk of the stretchy, extendable limbs, but it all seemed to make sense. Watching them retract, he noted that it did take a bit of time to hide- especially in a fight with a trained swordsman. Toso sat down and continued talking of experimentation. Nathaniel took that as an invitation to continue doing his own thing, so he formed a hand sign and began to concentrate.
"I've never met a medic with that specialty," he agreed. DNA transplants were difficult procedures and always came at a cost. Nathaniel kept that in mind as he placed his right hand to his left arm, where the cuts were. He furrowed his brow as green chakra illuminated his palm. The wound could be helped with a simple healing hands, so he wasn't going to use a different healing jutsu on it.
Pain suppression was the goal of this attempt. He had to focus on the nervous system, as nerves sent the warning signs to the brain. Despite popular belief, pain wasn't given from the body damaged, but by the brain. His chakra had to hit these nerves and shield them in some sort of way to prevent alerting the brain. "I don't think I'll pursue surgery."
Nathaniel had thought about it for a while but he wanted to be by the front line, healing those in war. Hospitals put him on edge but being outside with a kid who had a bloody knee? Cake walk. The small pulsing sensation from his arm disappeared as his brain stopped sending the signal for pain. His brain was making a judgement based on the factors around the injury and decided he didn't need to be told to protect it. The green chakra disappeared from his hand.
"And as disappointing as it is, I don't think I'll be a nurse either." He formed another hand sign. Healing chakra engulfed his palms; he put his right to his left arm and his left to his cheek, leaning into the touch and looking like a pleased mother that just saw her daughter graduate. "What're you gonna be?"

"A ruthless megalomanic mad scientist of course bloop." He spoke the words with such seriousness and his eyes filled with ambition and determination. Surely he was joking...right? He then continued. "An iron tentacle may be needed to achieve my pursuits. Bloop." Madness incarnate it seemed with the following bloops of laughter. However, when the laughter quelled the air stagnated from the tension that may have filled the room. "I suppose I should explain bloop. I wish to create a world where creator and creation can live in harmony. Imagine a puppeteers puppets being able to hold conversation and one's drawings coming to life before their very eyes to talk of recent events on a grand scale bloop. I know not how I will achieve this but in short before hand being a certified artist first would prove to aid that endeavor bloop and the mysticisms of the ninja arts seems to be the one way of obtaining it." Alright so for now it seemed the squid wasn't entirely crazy although he did have some certainly 'interesting' pursuits in mind.
"Bloop but I suppose that is the long term. Bloop. For now I wish to see the world, to travel, to venture into the unknown and return inspired. I suppose in the current militaristic standards we have now I'd be a member of the scouting or detainment party. Bloop." Toso watched Nathaniel treat his wounds. He noticed he neither winced nor cringed. He believed he hadn't left too grievous of wounds on the boy's body. Perhaps he tried too hard. His loss to Miko maybe produced that sense of desperation and competition inside of him. Toso certainly did have the competitive spirit. He had his father to thank for that.

xxxxxHe laughed at Toso's answer before... realizing that it might not have been a joke. He tamed his expression and tried not to look frightened. Knowing Toso, he could certainly reach that goal. "Harmony, huh?" He flexed his arm to test it out. No scar, no problem, and no pain either. He looked at Toso and teased, "I should have guessed you were the ideological pacifist type." He shrugged, then conceded his point. "Considering the status of the village, it sounds like a nice change." He briefly considered talking, 'living' puppets and wondered if that'd be exciting or scary as hell. He switched his train of thought to avoid getting into a mental discussion about souls and life and consciousness and other s**t he didn't need to deal with.
A lightbulb appeared above his head. He remembered learning about harmful medical techniques and although he specialized in healing ones, he knew they were basic enough. He formed a hand sign and put his right hand to his left arm once more. His chakra affected his nerve endings, teasing them with trouble. His brain recognized the warning signal and sent the feeling of pain down. He flinched, but more at the suddenness than the sensation. It was a basic technique that would need to be practiced before it would really, really hurt.

He turned his attention back to his squad leader. "Are the paint brushes because of the art thing, or because the squid-ink thing?" The former point referred to the conversation they'd just had about living art. And it really was a curious thing, considering Toso used them with a surprising amount of skill. As if he'd trained himself on how to attack people with brushes. It seemed rather silly, but so did getting defeated because of some damn paint brushes. His expression changed to a thoughtful one as he asked another question. "Where are we going to go from here?" The question could be taken a multitude of ways, but with the tone of the conversation it probably referred to the current attitude towards shinobi.

Bloop but I will squeeze a person's neck until their head pops clean from their shoulders like a crushed grape bloop. Ah, Should it be warranted of course. Bloop. As was the way I was taught. Bloop." Be merciless but forgiving, be strong but also meek, be wise but also whimsical. To be all these things at once it would make sense Toso's personally was so difficult to read. There was no black and white with him his very being was a grey area.

xxxxx Nathaniel nodded slowly at Toso's confession. He would never give the squid a reason to squeeze his neck, he realized. "I suppose..." He wasn't sure he'd ever use a weapon simply for the element of surprise it offered, but then, Toso was using the brush for so much more. Being a part of an ink-utilizing clan probably played a hand - tentacle? - in it. He appreciated the input as Toso answered every possible meaning behind his question. "Yeah, I think that's some sound advice." His stomach growled. "Are you thinking the Clover?" It was a tea shop he hadn't been to yet, though he'd heard good things. There was a rumor of a garden on the second floor that had poisonous herbs. "And now I'm in the mood for shrimp..." He faked pouting for a second before breaking into laughter.

"Bloop truthfully I've never been ebi. Sounds like an adventure ebi. Let me just open these doors ebi." Toso would open the doors and take a deep breathe in. The room after all smelled almost like the ocean mixed with an old library after all his inky escapades. Not but mere milliseconds of opening the door Toso found two thighs wrapped around his neck. In Nathaniel's case he would see what appeared to be a young girl with cat like features lock Toso's head between her legs. Then shortly after as if performing a somersault she'd jettison leaning forward and used the momentum to lift Toso in a remarkable feat of strength and agility that seemed nigh impossible for someone her size. Toso would then be flipped like a corkscrew and a distinctive crack sounded followed by the entire Dojo shaking as he made contact with the floor below. The girl removed her vice clutch then shot Nathaniel a sharp look of what may have been savagery. Then she spoke."
"Nya, how's it going Toso?" She'd ask Nathaniel in an air headed fashion completely ignorant of the man who she just near decimated was whom she should be addressing. "You sure have changed Toso. I didn't peg you for going the direction of green hair. Nya." Upon closer inspection it seemed the girl had a satchel of sorts strung over her shoulder. Then limply with another crack Toso like the pudding he seemed to be made of stood up."G...good to see you Nanako. Ebiiiiii."''Stranger Danger!" the girl would say before administering a crippling punch to Toso's abdomen. Only after his second collapse did she realize the mistake in identity she had made. "Ohhhh Toso. If you were the real Toso you should have just said so Nyan."
The girls logic was pretty flawed as Toso laid on his back with his eyes spinning. The real Toso? As if there were other Toso's in the room. She looked at Nathaniel and produced a single fanged smile before waiting for the squid to recover. When that didn't seem to be happening anytime soon she approached Nathaniel. The sheer speed she accomplished was like that of Shunsin but she hadn't formed any hand signs that even remotely indicated its use. "Hey other Toso fella nya. Make sure jello man gets this kk. Nya. I'm on a strict schedule here. Tell him if he wants to ever beat Nyanako he's gotta learn ta take a hit better than that. Ok buh bye." Her departure was just as hasty as her arrival. She had provided Nathaniel with what seemed to be letter addressed to Toso sealed in an envelope.
A status report in regards to Toso he was still for the most part out for the count. Although his body continued to twitch which meant he was still alive. Nathaniel would have in his hands the letter. Whether or not it piqued his curiosity enough to read it would be left up to him. Although Toso would probably be back up on his tentacles shortly.

xxxxx Toso went flying backwards and really, Nathaniel could only see a blur. All of a sudden, a cat girl was coming off of him and asking him how he was- er, as if he was Toso. She ignored his utterly lost expression and kept talking, mentioning his hair. His eyes narrowed at the comment as he tried to weigh whether or not it was positive. He flinched hard at the punch she delivered to his friend. He took a half step forward but, since they seemed to know each other, he held off for a bit longer.
Her speed was noteworthy as she handed over a letter, giving him some quick instructions. He waved as she said goodbye and immediately went to Toso's side when she left. "Jeez, are you alright?" He was sure that the squid was going to be fine long term, but it looked really bad at the moment. He was ready to use a healing technique, but he was sure that the squid would just use an ink instead of he needed help. "Want me to read this to you?" Every decent twitch made Nathaniel cringe a bit. That messenger was... well, one hell of a messenger, for sure.

"Blooooo. Nanako became the family messenger after she defeated my father in a fist fight. She didn't have a scratch on her either. Blooooo. A regular prodigy. Hard to believe she's only fifteen. That's probably a letter from my family blooo."Speaking with winded tones he seemed for the most part fine. The girl just caught him off guard it seemed. In truth he was in quite the amount of pain. However, being the senior among the men he had to act like the man. Toso would call forth his extra extremities and use them as props to aid in his rise. His head however...was near an owls in the way it was twisted. Any normal human being would have been one of two things comatose or dead. However, like the owl Toso readjusted his head to face forward with another distinctive crick. "That's alright bloop. No worries my entire body is double jointed Bloop."
Toso would take the letter leisurely and open it. He wouldn't mind if Nathaniel choose to peer over his shoulder. Attached was of course the usual family photo. Followed by the family taking their turns in writing individually. Each piece of writing varied uniquely as it was almost immediate to tell whose writing was whose. The letters were broken into calligraphic, bolded all capital letters, and pink ink with floral accents.

Toso seemed to read the letter with an internal sigh. The situation with his sister he knew everything about. However, Nathaniel mayhaps might've been shocked or confused at these alleged claims of incest. Ultimately his parents wanted him to go back to the land of tea. To abandon Kumokagure out of their concern for his well being. Toso's brow furrowed. He was clearly upset if not angry. To ask him to abandon the cloud now was probably one of the majorest insults they could have made. He however, sighed. They were naive. He couldn't blame them. They knew nothing of the current situation at hand. Toso just stared at the letter and then looked under the family photo to see just how Ikarumi matured. He'd stare at the photo a good while. It was hard to read what expression he might have been making under the collar..but the faintest trace of red seemed to drip from one nostril.

xxxxx If his mother had been there, she would have scolded Nathaniel and told him his expression was going to get stuck like that. At least, he'd like to think she would. And he'd like to stop making a confused expression, but it seemed that Toso was determined to be unpredictable in every way... Double joined everywhere? How the hell was that possible- and did he literally mean everywhere? Nathaniel rubbed his temples as Toso started to read the letter.
Curiosity got the best of the genin and peered over to see the letter. He didn't read anything, though he noticed a lot of different handwriting styles. He looked at the picture of people he assumed to be Toso's family. Nathaniel shrugged after a while and made his way towards the door, though he was cautious and stayed by the side of it, unsure if there'd be yet another surprise. "Whenever you're, uh, good." He looked away from the squid and rubbed his stomach. "Man, if I don't get a pastry I think I might actually die..." He smiled despite himself.
