He said, accepting his the badge and disc. He wasted no time in turning and getting out of the gym, heading right for the pokemon center. "Hey, the lady at the counter can heal your pokemon. It's free." Data chimed in. "Also, congrats on your win." it added. The brunette gave a nod, returning Beth to bring her ball and Rosemary's ball to the lady behind the counter. After making sure his pokemon were all healed, Gavyn left the pokemon center with Merlin by his side. "Cerulean has the next Gym leader of this region. She's a water type trainer, so I think you should be ready relatively soon." Data chimed from the pokedex. Gavyn considered the information. That was rather convenient, and all he had to do was get through Mount Moon to get to Cerulean City. It didn't sound like that big of a distance but... well, Gavyn didn't really like the sound of traveling through a dark cave on his own. Of course, he'd have his pokemon with him. However, he didn't really like being in dark places all that much. The brunette wasn't looking forward to it, and decided to take a look around Pewter City a bit more before moving on. Along the way, Merlin found some wild berries, a gem, and a leaf stone, giving them to his trainer to add to his bag.

Gavyn gained entry to the museum rather easily, Merlin beside him. The fairy type was immediately drawn to one of the exhibits. "Oh! A moon stone! We have to find one some time, Gavy!" the clefairy commented excitedly, hopping up and down to see the stone that was guarded by glass. Gavyn, still not used to the random voice coming from the device was a bit startled again, squeezing Merlin a bit. However, he gave it some thought as he looked up at the Aerodactyl skeleton hanging from the ceiling. That meant if a fossil pokemon was revived... well, they'd be kinda like him. Out of their original time period. He couldn't help but feel a bit akin to them, in that regard. "Interesting..." he commented, looking at more exhibits thoughtfully.

After seeing all that there was to be seen in the museum, Gavyn left, still holding Merlin in his arms. As much as he would like to keep putting off going through the cave, his clefairy kept nudging him to leave the city. Once he was sure he was well supplied, he finally started heading back to where he was training before with the incense. "Alright Gavy. Just a little further and we'll be at the cave entrance!" Merlin exclaimed excitedly. He was looking forward to seeing Mount Moon.

The bright light blinding Teddy as he left Viridian Forest was soon dimmed and grey as the stone city of Pewter came into vision. At least that was what Teddy imagined. He heard rumours of Pewter and it's hardened gym leader Brock. He imagined somewhat that all of those who lived there, lived out of caves or stone huts. Pewter City was actually relatively normal in it's appearance. It had stone based features dotted around, Teddy imagined that was just for flavour however. That and the further out you got from the city, the more rustic it did seem.
Teddy skipped gingerly down the slope and towards the city, the wind blowing on his face was refreshing. It felt like he had been in Viridian Forest for months, not a day. He looked up back up at the slope to see if Matt was far behind, it took him awhile but eventually he caught up. "What kept you? One last goodbye to the forest?" Teddy chuckled.

After catching up to Teddy, Matt chuckled and said how a Combee held him up. The two made it to Pewter City, which was a lot smaller than he had expected. As they walked into the city, Matt noticed the faint cries of a Pokemon, and followed them until he found a small box with an Eevee inside. It seemed friendly enough and after a few moments Matt picked it up and decided to be its new trainer. After the slightly detour the two made it to the Pokemon Center, where Matt healed is Pokemon and rearranged his team with the PC Storage. After that he called his parent, who transferred a care package containing some items and a Skarmory they had bred. Matt sent out all six of his Pokemon and looked at his full team with a smile, working on a plan to challenge Brock.

Matt soon appeared and told Teddy about how he had been ambushed by a Combee just as he left the forest. It sounded fair enough, they both began their descent down towards Pewter and the Pokemon Centre. Teddy's team was starting to seem a bit tired. He wasn't sure how long some of them could take. This made the next encounter what some would have described as poorly timed.
The female Nidoran came sprinting out of the bushes, angry as sin. Teddy watched as Matt continued to run down the slope into town. So that is what it feels like Teddy thought as Matt shrunk. It seemed that Teddy had stumbled upon it's territory and it was rather unhappy. He guessed he had no choice but to fight. Teddy plunged his hand into his knapsack and thought about how he could use. Wani-Wani and Bulbasaur were both tired from their fights in the forest. Munchlax was out of action and he had yet to try out Houndour for battle.
The Pokeball was flung into the air and Metapod fell to the ground. "I have faith in you girl! You can do it! Get us to the Pokemon Centre! Tackle!" Teddy shouted. Metapod sprung into action, hitting the Nidoran full pelt. It looked to have done some damage to the Pokemon who only retaliated with a wag of its tail. "One more Metapod! Show it who is the boss!" and once more, Metapod spun into the Nidoran, this time however accompanied by a large cracking noise. The Nidoran fell backwards, injured and limped back into the forest. Metapod however lay on it's side motionless.
Teddy ran to his Pokemon's aid, confused. "I pushed you too hard. I'm sorry Metapod." he said, picking up his Pokemon. He had to get her to the Pokemon Centre.

Teddy didn't have time to take in the immediate sights of Pewter City. His Metapod had cracked. Thanks to the directions given by a concerned citizen, Teddy soon found the Pokemon Centre. When he burst through the automatic doors, he noticed Matt was by the PC, exchanging Pokemon with his family at home. He pushed his Metapod into the arms of a passing Chansey. "Please! You have to help my Metapod! She's cracked" Teddy yelled, sweating profusely. This did not seem like something that should happen to a Pokemon.
The Chansey took it to the Nurse Joy who came back to Teddy and handed him back his Metapod. Teddy was glad to see a familiar face. "Nurse Joy. If there is one person who I can count on its you. Me and Wani-Wani got ourselves out of some painful situations thanks to you" Teddy said with a sigh of relief. Joy paused briefly and then explained to him that he knew her cousin Joy in Cianwood and not her. She then explained that there was nothing wrong with Teddy's Metapod. In fact, the complete opposite. With that, she and her Chansey took a step back.
The Metapod that Teddy held in his hands, begun to glow from the crack in the shell. Soon the shell began to dissolve and in it's place, a large pair of wings grew in front of Teddy's face."Brreee-frreeee~"the Butterfree sang. Sparkles emerged from Teddy's eyes. "It's so beautiful. Wow Butterfree you're amazing!" Teddy said, embracing his newly evolved Pokemon.
As Teddy handed over his other Pokemon to be healed, he hoped that no other Pokemon he had, would evolve by breaking free of their shells.

Matt was so engrossed in the new city and finding the stray Eevee that he hadn't even noticed that Teddy had lagged behind. He didn't notice that Teddy was late until after he had healed his Pokemon, called his parents, and was in the middle of spending time with all six of his Pokemon out of their Pokeballs. It was only then did he see Teddy run in, obviously looking concerned. Matt heard Teddy say something over the sound of all his Pokemon interacting, something about his Metapod being cracked. Before he could even head over though, his Metapod started glowing and evolved into a Butterfree. Amazed, Matt tried to walk up to Teddy from his location on one of the couches. "Stay here guys, I'll be right back." He said to his party as he walked past them towards Teddy. All of his Pokemon listened to his orders, besides Skarmory, which nuzzled its razor shape metal head against Matt the entire walk over. "Skaaaa~" Cooed Skarmory as it rubbed itself against its new trainer in an overly affectionate manner. Matt struggled with the 5'7" metal bird Pokemon, but made it over to Teddy unharmed. "Did your Metapod just evolve into a Butterfree?! That's awesome! I had no idea it had gained so much experience already!" Matt asked excitedly. He had been around many Pokemon hatching, but he hadn't seen many evolutions.

"She certainly did" Teddy said as Butterfree settled atop Teddy's head where it became quite comfortable, flapping it's wings slowly. "We've only battled a couple of times. Like once when she was a Caterpie and a couple of times as Metapod. I guess bug Pokemon don't waste their time" Teddy chuckled. Nurse Joy soon appeared back at Teddy's side with a tray of Pokeballs. "Well that is all of my Pokemon back in check. What's going on your end? Looks like you've gained a couple more Pokemon since we left the forest" Teddy said, wandering over towards Matt's new Skarmory. He gave it, he wouldn't say a stroke but a wipe considering the Pokemon's steel skin. A Johto Native, Teddy had seen many a Skarmory before, it was an impressive. Flyer. "I guess we should probably wait around here for Hayes to get back?"

Matt was constantly being nuzzled by Skarmory while talking to Teddy. Teddy mentioned Matt having more Pokemon since they left the forest and Matt just chuckled and tried to keep his footing. "Yeah, hahaha. I found an Eevee being given away on the side of a road, and I just couldn't leave him in that box... And this Skarmory was an extra egg leftover from breeding that my parents sent me. They said the client didn't want it because of the IVs or something. I'm glad they sent her to me though. She might be a bit too affectionate, but it's nothing I can't handle." Matt explained, nearly wrestling the Skarmory near the end of his lines. He hadn't even realized it until Teddy mentioned it, but Matt had a full team, and from an Ace Trainer-to-be's perspective, a pretty balanced one at that. He felt like he was really starting to become an actual Pokemon Trainer. But he felt he needed to defeat a Gym Leader before he could say it out loud.
