While Mercury and Bell chatted and waited for Al to return, the Aipom was still traversing through the trees, stopping every other branch or so to check his location and make any necessary directional changes. During one of those checks he noticed an object on the grass, the sun's rays shining down and bouncing off the object. He peered through the trees before he dropped down to a lower hanging branch, trying to get a better look at the item and try to determine if it was worth getting out of the tree to thoroughly investigate.
In the end, he decided to go for it, though he only came to that decision once he'd seen a few of the item's contours and recognized it. With a sigh he untangled himself from the tree and fell gracefully to the ground, near the item he'd now accurately identified as a Heart Scale, the second one he'd found, and in the forest too. Either the same trainer just so happened to be a careless and forgetful one, or people were just throwing away the items. Ah well, that wasn't his problem. Besides, it was as the saying went: one man's trash is another man's treasure, only in this case it was more of a pokemon's treasure.

Al scooped up the Heart Scale in the hand-like extremity on the end of his tail and looked about himself. It didn't look like he was too far rom where Dom had camped himself, and since it wasn't too much of a stretch he decided to walk the rest of the way. He found the man, still in the same position, but now with the egg resting on the outside of his thigh and his skateboard in his lap, completing a bit of maintenance on the board's wheels with a mini screwdriver.
"Eh?" Dom lifted his head before he turned, the look on his face turning expectant when he noticed that it was his pokemon. "Whatcha need, Al?" He threw his leg out before bending it at the knee, an awkward position indeed but it allowed him to encircle the egg and pull it closer it to his body. The Aipom ambled further and made it a priority to hand off the item he'd collected along the way. Dom took it, gave it a once over, before he nodded in recognition and placed it onto his knee. "What else?" he asked, though before the two could begin their charade that would eventually lead to their answer he came upon the conclusion himself. "Oh, s**t," he cursed lightly before he laughed. "I forgot to give you a potions, is that it?"
Al simply nodded before he extended his hand, the actual one. Dom nodded in understanding and from his bag pulled out three potions to hand off to his pokemon. "When you've healed those two come back, I'm getting ready to leave." The pokemon waited until after he'd successfully juggled the healing items into a manageable heap before he nodded and began to waddle off. The male waited until his pokemon had gone out of sight before he looked down at the Heart Scale he'd been given, the obvious choice was to give it to Zora, the little seahorse could use a few powerful moves.

Just as he promised Al arrived back at the little campsite within ten minutes, interrupting Mercury and Bell's conversation. "We need to hurry this up," he started and tossed Bell a potion. "We're leaving, but before we do I want Bell to find a few more pokemon to battle." Mercury yawned as he stood slowly to his paws, but quickly jumped over to Al, the tip of his tail wagging lightly. "Hey, Al! I kept an eye out, just like you told me to." He wasn't an excitable pokemon, and yet he couldn't help but feel a swell of pride well up inside of him at his success.
"Mmm," Al hummed as he considered Mercury, taking in his excited state. "Good job," he relented finally, and even went as far as to pat the fox's head, ruffling his fur and giving it a tuft. Although unexpected, he seemed to enjoy it nonetheless, and when Al began moving he followed after, content.

With Al leading the way, the trio of pokemon began to slowly make their way back to their trainer. Since they were pressed for time Bell's wanderings had been cut down, to the point where she was only allowed out of Al's sight when there was a pokemon nearby to pit her against; though this didn't happen until several minutes had passed, and even then the battle was over within a span of a few seconds. Mercury tilted his head to one side when Bell came rushing back, clearly excited about her win and was left chattering to herself about that. Weak pokemon plus type advantage equaled quick battles, which was a comforting equation, at least to him.

They were two, maybe three, minutes away from Dom when Al took notice of an unwelcomed presence in one of the nearby trees. Without a word he scaled up the base and disappeared into the leaves, a shriek tearing through an air a second later. The starters shot their head up, eyes flickering uselessly around the foliage until a small form fell from the trees. A moment later Al popped his head out, his eyes narrowing in displeasure. "Bell, that one's yours," he said simply and then retracted his head.
Bell, a bit stunned at the fact that her newest enemy had literally just dropped from the sky, could only look over to the green monkey that was still recovering from its fall, stumbling to its feet and chittering unhappily as he rubbed his backside. He had barely recovered when Bell launched herself at the pokemon, rocking back after the battle in light pain.

Once the battle was over Bell treated herself with a potion, spraying various parts of her body that were covered in wounds. She was still in the midst of healing when Al scurried back down to the ground, brushing his body off to free it up of leaves. He was on the move moments later, his head turning back so that he could glance over at the starters. "Good job," he grunted, stepping over the unconscious Pansage in the process. He didn't allow the two to even share a look before he motioned for them to hurry up, impatience embedded into his body language.
Dominik was in the middle of backing up, which simply involved standing to his feet and pushing the egg back into his arms to cradle, when his pokemon returned to him. Al took his usual perch upon the redhead's shoulder, settling himself in before he crossed his legs over at the knees. "How'd your training go?" he asked, directing the question to his starters in lieu of Al. Bell chittered happily in response, hopping up in place before she flexed. It was a rather successful attempt at charades, Dom certainly understood that their training had gone well. "Good. Let's go."
As Dom began walking, his feet leaving behind imprints in the grass, Mercury's ears fell, disappointed. He had hoped to also convey his success, he had gotten stronger too! He wasn't allowed to get too far into his moping, Al's pointed, over the shoulder gaze letting him know that getting left behind was unacceptable. The fox held back from sighing and with a shake of his head he started trotting after his trainer and his partner. Bell, taking notice of his mood, reached over to pat his head before something out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. She took a heavy step to the left, lurching forward with her paw extended to wrap her fingers around a bright red mushroom. She yanked the fungi out of the ground, roots intact, and hummed quietly as she began to inspect it.
It wasn't exactly what she had expected to grab, but whatever! It was pretty, and although she wasn't hungry she would give it to her trainer to save for later. Satisfied, she swiveled on the balls of her feet and charged forward, quickly catching up with Mercury, who gave her a curious glance but didn't question her sudden departure and return.

Vince nodded in thanks as Cheria left the offer open any time he did feel like rewarding his pokemon. "Thanks. You made those yourself?" He asked curiously. She must have been a good chef, given how much her pokemon liked them, and how tempted his own pokemon had been to get one. Well, with the exception of Lin, though Vince didn't think she had a disinterest in the puffs, more of an understanding of Vince's training and the self discipline not to look on with big goo goo eyes like the rest of his pokemon had. Cheria returned her pokemon before entering the forest, but Vince didn't really bother with his. Lin would feel right at home, and his other pokemon were small enough that it wouldn't really be an issue. He walked along rather quietly, hands in his pockets, glancing around every now and again to take in the forest, but then he would look at Cheria walking along so happily along and feel a tad awkward. He supposed he should probably make more light conversation, but he wasn't really one for many words. It was a miracle that he'd managed to keep up a conversation this long, though that was mostly because he'd been talking about the lupup line, so now... Honestly he hadn't expected her to continue traveling with him this long. Not that he minded, it was just.... Unexpected. "So.... Do you know Kalos well...?" He asked quietly, deciding to at least attempt at more conversation. Now that they were out of town and in this more peaceful space however, he tried to keep his voice down out of respect for the forest and the pokemon within it. Spending so much time training with Lin had harbored a respect for the power of nature within him, and he strived to uphold it, particularly around the mega sceptile.
His charmander, now that they had entered the forest, was on a sharp lookout for any potential opponents to train against, while Lin Hua and and Li Yu inspected her. The dratini drew near with a light giggle. ('Hi there! Are you new? I don't remember seeing you before~') Li asked curiously while Lin glanced at the two smaller pokemon. ('Vince had been talking about wanting a charmander Li, if you had listened to him, you would have known.') The charmander looked surprised. ('Really?') Lin nodded in confirmation, and Li laughed off Lin's comment. ('Keehee~ That's probably true, but either way, I am so very glad we have a new face on the team.') She bubbled excitedly. ('Oh, and a fire type rounds our team off so very nicely~ I can see why he would want a charmander.') Lin nodded in agreement. ('It will certainly help with ice types.') Lin agreed, and charmander for a moment felt rather pleased that she was going to be such a help to Vince's team. It made her want to work even harder. ('I'm Li Yu, what's your name?') The dratini offered, though charmander hesitated. ('Oh... Um... I don't have a name yet.') She said, her earlier moment of happiness quickly fading. ('Don't be upset little one. You will earn your name in time. It is just Vince's way.') She insisted. ('Oh... Well um... What's your name...?') She asked. ('I am Lin Hua.') The sceptile nodded graciously. ('Lin Hua? Li Yu? Xiu Feng? Is there some kind of code I'm missing here...?") Lin laughed. ('These are chinese names. Lin Hua means "Forest Flower". Li Yu is "Black Jade", and Xiu Feng is "Beautiful Wind", but it could also mean "Elegant Wind". For Vince, our names are like titles that we earn. Like I said little one, you will earn yours in time.') She reassured the charmander.

Cheria smiled a bit. "Yep. Though, the recipes are my dad's. He's a scatterbrain, but when it comes to photography and puffs, he's a genius. This is the first batch I made on my own, so I'm kind of surprised they're so good." Glancing at Vince as they walked, she couldn't help but feel like he was feeling awkward. Was traveling with her uncomfortable for him? She wasn't sure if she should ask or not. "Hm?...Oh, yes. I am. I was born in Coumarone, but now I live with my dad in Lumiose. Spent some time in Cyllage as a kid, but....We don't talk about that." Cheria took a rather shaky breath before giving another smile, though she looked down rather quickly. "You know, I wouldn't be offended if you asked to travel alone. You seem a bit...uncertain?" After she spoke, Cheria looked up as she spotted movement. Blinking, it took a few seconds before she spotted what looked like blue. She then noticed the eyes and got out her camera to take a picture. Thankfully, she managed to snap a photo before the Pokémon darted off. Huh....Was that a Vulpix? Looking at the picture as she walked, she definitely thought it was a Vulpix.
Listening to the other's Pokémon conversation, Lupup tilted his head. Well, that was kind of...mean, wasn't it? But, then again, he doubted Vince was a mean trainer. He just did things differently than Cheria. The meaning of Xiu Feng's name, however, made his nose wrinkle. That was kind of dumb. Why wind? Wind was weak. Why not typhoon or storm or something impressive like that? "Please, don't tell me you're insulting Xiu Feng's name.""What? No, I'm not. I just...think 'wind' is a bit...insulting.""Well, I've never heard of an elegant hurricane. Or, a beautiful one." Lupup snorted. Storms were very beautiful and had an elegance of their own. "On the subject of names, why won't you accept any of the names Cheria has for you. I think Lelouch is a fine name." Lelouch was a good name. It had a royal ring to it, and he liked it. "...Qukoh'ya. That's my name. When I'm able, I want to tell Cheria. I've been thinking about asking Aaron, but he's stubborn and cruel." So, he had a name already. It wasn't that he didn't like the names Cheria had, but that he couldn't accept them. That was stubborn. What was so special about the name? Weirdo. Turning her attention to Vince's Pokémon, Sheena looked them over. "How did you all meet Vince? I...can't help but notice you're mostly Dragons. Or, Dragon-esque."

Vince listened nodded with interest as Cheria explained how she had made the puffs, but that the recipe was her dad's. "Seems you take after him." He commented, noting the camera around her neck, and her apparently exceptional ability to cook pokepuffs. After a moment of uncertainty and much debate, he finally decided to ask if Cheria knew Kalos well, to find that she had lived in the area for quite some time. That explained the frogadier at her side. He wasn't quite sure where Coumarine was, but he recalled hearing about it when doing some research on Kalos, since he hadn't wanted to go to the region totally unprepared. She was living currently in Lumiose anyways, though she mentioned that she briefly lived in Cyllage as well, but clearly those were unpleasant memories for her, so Vince wasn't going to press the subject. Afterwards however, Cheria insisted that she wouldn't be offended if he asked to travel alone, suggesting that he'd seemed uncertain about the situation. "...That's not it." He insisted. "I'm just not really used to the company I suppose." He shrugged, rubbing the back of his head a bit. "I had imagined taking this journey alone, so your continued presence is.... Not unwanted, but surprising, I suppose." He explained, hoping he didn't offend her. It was hard to explain, and he was certainly no social butterfree, which only made things harder for him.
Xiu Feng's ears perked up as she heard Sheena and the other lupup talking about her name. ('Wind isn't insulting, it is all encompassing. Wind can be strong like a tornado, and gentle as a summer's breeze, violent as a storm, swift as rushing water. Vince does not define the type of wind I represent, because I can be whichever I choose.') She insisted. Li Yu was the first to blurt out answers to Sheena's question. ('We're dragons because Vince is a Dragon tamer from Blackthorn City!~') She practically sang. ('I was given to Vince by the Dragon Elder upon his graduation. It's customary for each student to receive a dratini at the end of their training.') Li explained. ('He only works with dragon types, or at least those that will eventually become dragons.') Lin said with a glance to their charmander. ('He was skeptical of me first, but the treeko line is from the dragon egg group, and upon finding out that through mega evolution, we can gain a dragon typing, he worked quite hard to train with me until we reached that point.')('I'm uh... New.') The charmander mentioned awkwardly. ('His parents befriended and battled with my parents, and as per the Yazi clan tradition, I will train with and protect Vince.') Xiu Feng explained proudly.

Cheria blinked. He could tell, huh? The camera gave it away most of the time. "Yep. Look like my mom, act like my dad. Guess it's a balanced distribution." Especially considering she didn't see her mother all that often. Listening to Vince's explanation, Cheria tilted her head as she wrapped her brain around it. So, it was surprising but not unwanted. She would take that as a compliment. "I'll try not to bother you too much then. I'm going to visit Dad when we get to Lumiose anyway before moving on to Cyllage, so we might be parting ways soon anyway." It'll be a bit depressing given that she actually found Vince interesting. Intimidating, and a little detached maybe, but interesting. "If you want to anyway. Honestly, it's nice having people to travel with."
Lupup looked at Xiu Feng, eyes half-closed. "Right. Gentle....Either way, you're hardly beautiful. I'd say you're a solid--" Lupup yelped when Sheena whacked him. He needed to learn to keep his mouth shut. "Hey! That hurt, you dumb toad! What was that for!?""If you're going to insult me, at least be accurate. I'm a frog, not a toad. And, you need to shut up before you get Cheria hurt." Hmph. He'd kill anyone who hurt Cheria. People who attacked others to get back at someone were cowards. "...""Froooo...." Sheena looked up at Cheria when her trainer looked at them curiously. Sheena looked back at Lupup and Cheria sighed. Was he still being rude? Grabbing his ball, Cheria returned him and clipped it back into place. She didn't like using the ball as punishment, but it was similar to sending a kid to their room or the corner for being bad. She would let him out in a bit. "...Sorry about him. He's been a rude one since he joined us. Sometimes I wonder if he's part Spearow. So, Vince is a Dragon trainer? Sounds like he has quite the task ahead of him. Dragons are fierce types. Intimidating, but also loyal from what I understand. Once earned anyway." How did Lin Hua evolve so much if she was so...young? Yes. That was a much nicer term.

Vince gave a short amused laugh as Cheria suggested she had a balanced distribution between her parents. "Hm. I know how that goes." He agreed, though when she mentioned that if he didn't want her around he could say so, he insisted that wasn't it at all. He just hadn't really expected to be traveling with a stranger. That sounded.... Severely unflattering though, and Vince grimaced a bit at his own words, since it made Cheria suggest that she would try not to bother him as much and that they would probably be parting ways soon anyways. "Ah... After I get some shopping done in Lumiose I need to come back to train around Santalune and challenge Viola." He sighed. "...But, I could give you my number. Cyllage is the gym that proceeds Santalune, right?" He offered. If he trained and beat Viola in a reasonable amount of time, maybe he would be able to catch up with Cheria.
Xiu Feng narrowed her eyes at the lupup as he continued to make his stupid comments. ('You wanna say something you mangey half breed you can come down here and say it to my--!') She started to go off barking but Sheena's smack stopped them both. Xiu Feng was quite amused as the two began to bicker and eventually Sheena got the lupup into trouble with his trainer. Once he was returned to his pokeball, Xiu Feng trotted along with her head held high. Served him right. Her attention turned back to Sheena however as she apologized for Qukoh'ya and suggested that he's been rude for as long as she knew him. ('It's fine. I think it's a species trait honestly; he reminds me of my brother.') Xiu grumbled. The older, pompous twerp was always getting on her nerves. Sheena commented on Vince being a dragon trainer, and Lin nodded in agreement with her words. ('Yes, it is a daunting task for just any trainer to decide to train dragons,') Lin agreed, ('but for Vince's family, it's their way of life.') She explained, glancing to her trainer briefly. ('They just know how to train dragons. It's knowledge and techniques that have been passed down through generations, and Vince can apply them quite well.') Charmander listed to all their talk of Vince's history and felt a bit out of place, given that she didn't know Vince very well. It was good to know that she was being trained by someone who knew what they were doing at least.
Speaking of which, she finally saw a pokemon to challenge to a battle, a small worm like creature. Without thinking, she rushed right for what she thought to be another caterpie, hopefully stronger than the one she'd encountered before like Vince promised. Vince noticed her sudden movement, and looked up curiously to see what she had decided to battle. Upon seeing it however, Vince's eyes grew wide. "Wait, stop!" He attempted to warn the charmander, but it was too late. The weedle reared its poisonous tail and stung her with it. The attack had done little damage however, and the charmander didn't see what Vince's issue was. She countered with a much stronger scratch attack that knocked it aside, but the weedle wasn't finished yet. It stung her once again, but one last scratch finished it off before Vince could reach her. At first, Vince looked mildly impressed. Had she really gotten away without getting poisoned....? The charmander turned to Vince with a bright smile, seeming proud to have found a stronger opponent and bested it. The prideful gleam was short lived however as she grimaced and swayed. "Ch...Char...?" She was clearly confused as Vince knelt down beside her. "Gāisǐ de.... I was afraid of this." Vince shook his head and scooped up the poisoned charmander. "It looks like the exit is just up ahead, that means Santalune City shouldn't be too much father. We need to get to the pokemon center. Now!" He insisted, taking off towards the forest's edge.

Cheria's face turned pink when Vince laughed. What? What did she say? Not knowing how to respond to his laugh or his brief statement, Cheria turned her attention to her hair, softly braiding the ends nonchalantly until Vince spoke again. Oh, right. Viola. So, he hadn't earned any badges yet. Well, with his Charmander, she figured as much, but--Wait, what? Where was she going with that? Shaking her head, the blonde gave a smile to his offer. "I wouldn't mind exchanging numbers at all. And, yes. It is. The gum leader is Grant." All these numbers from guys....Cheria's dad wasn't going to let it go when, or even if, he found out.
Sheena couldn't help but give Xiu Feng a curious yet dumbfounded stare. If Qukoh'ya was a half-breed, didn't that make her one, too, being the same creature he was? These Lupup and their insults....Was that a species trait as well? Still, the way Qukoh'ya and Xiu Feng interacted was amusing to a degree. Definitely like brother and sister. Or, a very unhappy couple. "Well, that's quite fortunate for him and his family." Sheena watched as Charmander ran off to challenge a Weedle. She watched as he took two Poison Stings, seemingly without being inflicted by the poison. However, she soon began to sway and look ill. Vince picked her up and hurried off to the city.
Cheria, following after Vince and worrying for his Charmander like she did, was unaware of the grey and blue Vulpix that suddenly burst from the bushes. It jumped onto her head, making her stumble and fall, before there was the distinct sound of a pokéball clicking and pinging. Had...the Pokémon just caught itself...? Cheria got up, rubbing her head and picking the ball up. What was that about, and what was it? Well, she would see later. For now, she had to catch up to Vince.

Olivia found herself slowing down as she entered the forest, head swinging from side to side to glance at the trees on either side of her. It was serene, as expected of a place virtually untouched by man, and would be a good place to train, as well as keep an eye out for a few herbs. The idea of making her own potions had occurred to her not soon after she'd left the Pokecenter, she was in no mood to feign ignorance each and every time she entered one, not to mention it'd be a bit more natural. Of course, when serious injuries arose she'd have no choice but to visit one, but for all those simple scratches and bruises she'd be able to treat herself; though there was also the simple desire to test her skills and memory, to see if, after all these years, she could still actually make potions.
Cayenne, in the meantime, was still fuming over the few words she'd shared with Poppy and just as determined to prove to the uppity Happiny, and herself, that she was a valued member of the team. She lifted her head into the air, nose twitching, before the sound of scrabbling alerted her to the presence of a potential pokemon. Moving to investigate she found herself face-to-face with a yellow mouse, its red cheeks sparking. Cayenne, wary of the electricity that the pokemon obviously generated, she decided the best way to go about the upcoming battle was to finish it quickly. With this in mind she tackled the Pikachu, bowling it over, and grit her teeth when her opponent responded with a Thundershock, sending electricity coursing through her small body. Although shocking--pun intended--she managed to recover quickly and retaliate with another Tackle, sending the now defeated Pikachu scurrying off.
"Cynda!" she exclaimed happily, flames rising from off her back, and quickly spun around to rejoin her team. On the way back she made eye contact with Poppy who had, undoubtedly, seen her battle. She offered nothing short of a dismissive turn of the head, however, to which Cayenne responded to with a huff of slight irritation. Whatever! It wasn't as if she was looking for her praise, she was eager for Olivia's.

Cayenne slowed to a stop when she finally managed to catch up with Olivia, puffing in and out with both excitement and a bit of exhaustion. "Hey there, Cay," her trainer acknowledged her, prompting her to greet the woman back with her usual squeak. "Back from the war?" The woman stopped before crouching down, pulling out a potion to treat her starter's words in lieu of waiting for her to answer. Even if she hadn't seen the initial confrontation, she'd been alerted in time to witness the battle between Cayenne and the Pikachu. She was proud of her little spitfire, the emotion plastered all over her face, and after giving her head an affectionate pat before she straightened up.
"I like the initiative," she complimented and began to walk once more, "but let's slow it down a bit, I still need to help the others get stronger." Cayenne tilted her head to the side, the realization that she wasn't the only one who needed training finally dawning on her. The Cyndaquil, being the agreeable little fire-mouse that she was, nodded and fell back into an easy lope by her trainer. Unfortunately for her, as willing as she was to oblige her trainer's wishes, a pesky little bird had other ideas.
Perhaps it'd witnessed the previous battle Cayenne had engaged in and, thinking itself the guardian forest, decided to enact a bit of forest justice by challenging her, or perhaps it just disliked her. Even if the reason was unknown, its objective was not, it became obvious when Cayenne was forced to roll to the side in order to avoid a dive-bomb from the little Robin.
Cayenne scrambled to her feet, head whipping around from side to side to try and find the rude little bird. Once she had, and locked in on it, she charged forward to quickly show the pokemon just how wrong it'd been in challenging her, ending the battle almost as quickly as it'd started. She gave her trainer a sheepish look, obviously a bit upset that she'd disobeyed her. Olivia snorted, amused by the expression on her pokemon's face. "Don't worry about it," she dismissed. "It's not your fault. Now, let's keep going."

She pressed her lips together as she left behind the beaten path of Route 3 and took up the cobbled road, though she'd only taken a few steps before she spun on the balls of her feet to face her pokemon, a strange expression on her face-- or at least odd to her newest pokemon, Valerian and Licorice could distinguish it as a slow-building determination. "Alright guys, it's time for some serious training," she informed them, earning a variety of different responses that all grouped into one raucous chorus. Olivia laughed, pleased even with the more negative reactions; though anything of that nature only came from Poppy, and she was always a spoilsport.
It was exactly why the little diva was returned, though she wasn't the only one. After thinking of a basic battle plan she returned Licorice and Blue as well, though the latter took much longer to wrangle, to the point where his 'mother' had to be brought out just to calm him down and explain the entire process. Olivia gave a soft sigh afterwards, reaching up to stroke the bridge of her nose lightly. She really needed to learn more about Blue, and not just his species but his vehement dislike for her and other humans. Perhaps he'd been abused in the past and just now harbored a distrust for all of them? Either way, it was something to investigate.
"Come here Ginny," Olivia cooed as she turned to the Bunnelby, a soft laugh escaping her as she watched him instinctively flinch and then relax in the same moment. After whatever fright he'd experienced he looked up at her expectantly, chin tilted up, "I've got something for you," she informed him as he warily shuffled forward. When he was close enough she took out a TM, one of the few items her precinct had started her off, and began to elaborate as she taught him Stone Edge. "You're an asset to this team, so I want to try and make you stronger. You knowing this move will only help."
She stepped back afterwards and gave the now used TM a glance before she chucked it into the nearest trashcan. "How do you feel?" she inquired, to which Ginseng tilted his head to one side before he puffed his chest out, his way of communicating that he was okay.
