"What the f*ck is this?" blurted out a reedy voice behind her.
"Hmm?" hummed Mary Anne, bringing herself back to the present time and turning to look over her shoulder at the source. She smiled upon seeing Izzy taking in everything with wide eyes. "It's the holiday season. I thought I would decorate a bit for it."
"Why?" asked Izzy.
"Why?" she echoed, before dropping the piece of garland she had in her hands onto the nearby table and walked over to him. It brought her delight seeing his cheeks pinken by her closeness. "You all may be pirates but that doesn't mean you can't spend a bit of time enjoying the comforts of joy. And after everything everyone's been through... I think they all deserve a bit of cheer."
"And decorating the ship with tinsel is going to do that?"
"It's a start."
"Honestly," said Izzy, pausing for a moment, glancing over at the decorations near them, before continuing. "I expected this from Bonnet. Not you."
"You should be glad it's me doing this then," retorted Mary Anne. "I know how to keep things to a respectful amount of cheer."
Izzy let out a chuckle.
"You need help with anything?"
"You? Want to help?" Mary Anne gasped.
"Help you, yes. Help for the sake of Christmas, not exactly my thing."
"Well," said Mary Anne, reaching over grabbing an item hidden under the garland and then holding it above their heads. "You can start by helping me make sure this decoration is still working."
Izzy glanced up and a smile appeared on his face. "Mistletoe? Seriously, you need a plant to ask?"
"No," replied Mary Anne, lowering her lips to his. "But does make it more thrilling."
"You don't say," he replied, closing the gap.
