"You mean when you almost went ballistic around Avikna's Ampharos?" she guessed, the memory of the festival now flashing clearly through her mind once she'd managed to pinpoint it. "I still don't understand why you won't accept it as a dragon, it's got the typing, the same disadvantages as one; I'm pretty sure Mega Ampharos can even learn a dragon-type attack." Listening to him list two more pokemon, she smirked. Vince certainly had his quirks, but that could be said about anyone, and even if she didn't understand his reasoning--especially when it came to the Mareep line--she could accept that he had his preferences.
Turning to inner monologue Olivia appraised Vince before she shook her head, both to herself and the male's suggestion they spend time in Mauvile. "No, it's fine. I wouldn't be a good tour guide if I didn't take you to locations you were actually interested in," she explained with a wry smile. "Yup, treehouses," she confirmed, fighting back a chuckle. "Treehouses, nature, and... well, that's pretty much all I went into last night. But, you'll find out the rest once we get there." And it was only a train ride, and some decent walking, away.

It took a moment for Olivia to realize what he was talking about, but when she remembered the incident with the ampharos and snorted, he frowned, looking away in anger and embarrassment. "I did not almost go ballistic..." He insisted defensively, growing more irritated as she started even defending the thing. "You must be joking." He grumbled, crossing his arms. It baffled him that no one understood why he couldn't accept a sheep as a dragon. Maybe if it had scales or horns or claws, or just something genetically that showed the connection prior to it's random mega evolution, it would be more understandable, but it was a sheep. No more, no less. "Plenty of pokemon have the ability to learn moves that have no correlation to their type or egg group. Lucario can learn dragon pulse too, but it's obviously not a dragon. Ampharos being classified as a dragon is a joke, to mock Johto natives for giving it the name Denryu." He sighed.
Given Olivia didn't know the language though, he needed to explain more what the issue was. "In Japanese kanji, Denryu can be spelled two different ways, which slightly alters the meaning. One way it means electric current, which is usually the way it is spelled, but I'm sure some Kalosian megastone scientist who knew the language, thought it would be great fun to play a joke, and spell it the other way, which translates to 'electric dragon', and then have the brilliant idea to make a megastone mixing Ampharos DNA with draconic type influence. As a result, we get one big joke of a 'dragon' pokemon. So no, I don't think it's a dragon, nor will I ever accept it as one. That.... Abomination, is an insult to dragon kind." He growled, his whole body trembling with rage, but he forced himself to relax with deep breaths. "Never mind. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have even brought it up." He grumbled. No matter how much he tried to explain, no one outside of Blackthorn really seemed to understand. Even then, some dragon tamers used ampharos and accepted it for reasons Vince couldn't fathom.
Instead, he tried to change subjects, asking about what all he would be expecting in Hoenn. He admittedly wasn't thrilled to spend copious amounts of time in Mauville, given that it was much like Lumiose, but this wasn't just his trip, he wanted to allow Olivia to do things she wanted as well, but she insisted that she wouldn't be much of a tour guide if she didn't take him to places he was interested in. "Well it's not that you wouldn't take me to Fortree if we explored Mauville for a bit.... I want you to enjoy the trip too after all." He suggested softly. It was hard to really remember all of the details of last night, but he was at least able to correctly recall something about Fortree having treehouses. Olivia thankfully filled in the gaps somewhat, though, he gave her a curious look when he noted her attempt not to chuckle. "What....? What's so funny?" He asked, confused.
"You started growling," Olivia reminded him, though she had to bite down onto her bottom lip to curb her smile. The two clearly didn't see eye-to-eye on the topic, though it quickly became clear that Vince felt a bit more strongly on it than Olivia; she wasn't too concerned over the typing of any pokemon, she was more for personality, but Vince. Vince well... "Remind me to never bring that back up again," she remarked in a lower tone, only half way joking. As information of a rant as it had been Olivia, now, knew where Vince stood; in the future she'd make sure to steer him away from any Ampharos, mega or not.
Regaining her cheer the pinkette gently patted her companion's shoulder in light reassurance before she turned to check their surroundings, the last thing they needed to do was get so caught up in their conversation that they ended up lost. "Well aren't you sweet," Olivia joked, taking a left at the next street corner. They were almost to the station. "I'll enjoy the trip no matter where we go," she assured him. Vince's mouth twitched, recalling that he had, in fact, growled at the fair. "I would hardly relate growling to 'going ballistic'...." He said stubbornly, though it was clear his resolve to gauge his reaction lightly in the grand scheme of things was faltering. Instead, he resorted to trying to better explain his frustrations on exactly why he couldn't see an ampharos as a dragon, but his efforts to share his point of view only came off as mad ranting, and Olivia seemed to be tuning him out, muttering lowly about reminding her not to bring it up again. Feeling somewhat frustrated, he consented, agreeing that it shouldn't have been brought up. It was for the best. No one seemed to really understand his plight, no matter how many times he tried to explain. "Next thing you know, they'll be claiming palm trees are dragons...." He muttered under his breath. If only he knew....
With a reassuring pat from Olivia, Vince sighed and dropped the subject entirely, trying to focus on the journey ahead of them as they discussed points of interest and where they would be traveling. He absentmindedly followed Olivia's lead, so deep in their conversation that he hadn't even thought about where they were going, so it was a good thing Olivia had the piece of mind to check. As she insisted that she would enjoy spending time with him wherever they went though, Vince was admittedly caught off guard, his tightly folded arms loosening slightly as he blinked in surprise. "Ah... Is that so....?" He asked tentatively, hesitance leaking into his tone. Not that he didn't feel the same way about her, but he was self aware enough to know that he could be.... Unpleasant at times, so it was difficult to believe her, and Vince wrote it off as Olivia just being polite. Still, she seemed to be quite amused by something that was lost to Vince, and when he asked, she dodged his question by countering with her own.
Vince wanted to insist that she answer, but he refrained. He'd already been bristly enough for one day over the stupid ampharos issue, he didn't want to continue down that abrasive slope. "Not that I know of..." He answered vaguely. "If I have, it would have been when I was very young, such that I wouldn't remember. I've traveled all over Johto, but this is the first time I've consciously left." He explained. "What about you...? Obviously you've been to Hoenn and Johto, but what about other regions...?" He asked curiously.
Olivia looked up at Vince, eyebrow quirked, and the corner of her mouth twitched before she smiled, a snort of laughter following. "Fine, fine. You didn't go ballistic," she compromised. "But you have to admit, your reaction to that poor Ampharos was uncalled for." Though she wasn't too sure what Vince had against the dual dragon-type one, passionate explanation from the male himself fixed that. While Olivia seemed taken aback a nearby observer found Vince's reaction intriguing, if not amusing, and with a c**k of her head Elgyem moved from Olivia's side to Vince's, his last comment catching her attention. "You are correct in your sarcastic remark," she informed him in monotone, switching to a one-way communication that Olivia was not apart of; this was a conversation between her and the angry human. "In Alola there is an Exeggutor variant that gains the dragon typing. Its appearance matches that of a palm tree." Just what was she gaining by informing Vince of this pokemon? Oh so much.
Without Olivia connected to the telepathic link she was completely unaware of the Beedrill nest Elgyem was poking, let alone that she was even communicating with Vince, she kept her attention and thoughts of their plans in Hoenn; though she did offer Elgyem a curious look, a look that the psychic ignored. The woman couldn't help but to smirk at the hesitance in Vince's voice. "Yeah," she replied, tone far more confident than his. "We've had fun up until this point, haven't we? I mean, sure, we've had our differences..." She purposefully paused and nudged Vince, her wide grin giving herself away. "But, we still have fun."
As they drew closer to the train station Olivia pulled out her wallet, preparing herself to buy a ticket. "Just Johto, huh?" she repeated as she stepped into the short line that stood between them and the booth. "Guess if we go anywhere else, I'll be your guide there too," she teased. "I've been a little bit of everywhere, except Alola. Though I've spent more time in Kanto than the other three," she informed, keeping an ever watchful eye on the line. Thankfully it didn't take but a few minutes to get to the front and after purchasing her ticket she stepped out of line to wait for Vince to do the same, then began to board the train once he'd finished.

Even though Olivia admitted to Vince not going ballistic, Vince's frown continued to set as she urged him to admit his reaction was uncalled for. "I feel my irritation is justified, otherwise I wouldn't feel irritated at all...." He insisted. "However.... I suppose.... That particular ampharos didn't do anything to deserve any of my spite." He grumbled. It was hard for Vince to argue with Olivia, not because he thought she was right, but because she was..... Persuasive. Or more accurately, Vince couldn't argue with her laughing and sweetly insisting that he compromise with her. This wasn't the first time she'd been able to do it either.... Vince let out a quiet sigh, averting his gaze and grumbling under his breath about palm tree dragons, when suddenly the mysterious elgyem hovered in front of him before telepathing to him, causing Vince to stop and back up a bit in surprise. "What do you mean....?" He asked, his brow furrowing. He was unaware that the elgyem was only speaking to him, and that speaking out loud appeared to Olivia as a one sided conversation. Vince's disgruntled disposition only grew more agitated as the Elgyem insisted that there was a dragon pam tree variant of exeggutor in Alola. "That's preposterous. If this is your attempt at humor, I don't find it amusing." He insisted sharply, narrowing his eyes. He clearly didn't believe the elgyem, pegging it for a mischievous type trying to stir up trouble by lying about some preposterous species. He quickly continued walking, attempting to move past the robotic psychic type.
Vince was certainly glad that Olivia seemed to have no trouble admitting that she'd enjoy their time together no matter where they went. "Yes... I've enjoyed our time together as well...." He admitted quietly, giving a half smile as she nudged him playfully. Still, something stirred within him, some part that sill felt unsure quite how to feel, or what to say. He had admitted to enjoying Olivia's company, certainly, but that didn't make him feel any less nervous. As they neared the train station, Olivia asked about his other travels. Unlike her, Vince had pretty much stayed in Johto his whole life, where she seemed to have been everywhere but Alola. "Well, I must admit, the idea of having you as my tour guide is appealing." He chuckled lightly. "Though it is also a bit ironic, given that we met because you were looking for directions to the gym." He pointed out with a faint smile.
As they stood in line to purchase their tickets, Olivia pulled out her wallet, and Vince shifted in his stance. "I can pay for the tickets..." He offered. This was his endeavor he'd insisted on after all, it didn't feel right to him for her to pay for her ticket, but Olivia carried on nonetheless, purchasing her ticket in spite of his offer. Honestly, Vince had expected as much by now, but his upbringing still made him feel the need to offer anyways. After his ticket was bought, he followed Olivia to board the train, taking the seat next to her while Xiu Feng lay down at his feet beside Blue and Licorice. "I am looking forward to the trip, if that is what you are inquiring." He suggested, a somewhat roundabout and gentle way of explaining he wasn't excited per se, but still happy about their upcoming journey. Vince simply wasn't very generous or expressive with his emotions. Come to think of it... It was rare that he really felt sheer excitement and adrenaline. Such a heightened sense of emotion came from things like when he received Xiu Feng, or his first kiss with Meili, or going to battle with a worthy opponent.
He needed to keep his emotions under control, but he wondered if perhaps he was too strict at times with himself. He knew he could come off as... Stiff, and apathetic at times. That was part of the reason why he wondered how Olivia was able to put up with him. She was so full of life and energy; how she enjoyed spending time together was beyond him. He felt so dull compared to her, it was frustrating, but he couldn't really change who he was. Closing his eyes, Vince took in a deep breath and let it out, leaning forward onto his knees and arching his back a bit to stretch. "I assume you are excited?" He suggested, offering a light smile her way.

Terrence looked around the area, and to be honest it looked just like the area they were in before. Though it seemed that there was a gym here, still it wasn't exactly different. Then again what was he expecting? It was technically the same city after all, so he really shouldn't have expected anything else really. There were a few more stores, and there did seem to be some cool cafe's around too. He'd have to look into that actually, he's always wanted to visit one before. Right now though, he needed to get to the next town. So he resisted the urge to go into the cafe and made his way out of the city.

This place was even bigger than Goldenrod from what he understood. Separated out into two separate distracts; he almost lost Melody in the crowd when she started making her way for the south side. If Susie hadn’t given him a peck to the leg that is. He glanced down and scooped the bird up, grinning and quickly rushing after the blonde. Damn she was fast!

Melody slowed in her walking as the rounded the city and started heading back for the train, hearing her communicator going off. She pulled it out from her pocket, smiling gently at the sight of a text from Lysander. Huh, what a coincidence that she’d just been thinking about texting him too. Way to be in harmony and all. She read over the text, frowning a little and giving a slight nod to no one.
Text Lysander: Alright sounds good. We’re were probably going to head there anyways as well. See you soon, all right?
She sent it off and turned to Fabian, who had finally managed to catch up panting and gasping for air. It really hadn’t occurred to her that she’d been moving so fast that he had to run to keep up with her. He came to a stop gasping, hands on his knees and hunched over to try and catch his breath.
"W-why we s-s-stopping?" He wheezed, Susie trotting up and chirping at him in concern. She’d certainly never seen her train gasping for air and didn’t want him to hit the floor in a pile because of it. Melody waited until his panting died down a bit so that she didn’t have to speak over it.
"We’re going to start heading over to Alola to turn in the eggs." Melody spoke, tucking her communicator and eyeing Fabian a moment. He straightened up and took a giant exaggerated breath, breathing mostly back to normal. A frown crossed his face as he stared at her.
"Uhm… okay? Why so soon…?" Fabian tilted his head in confusion. "I mean you were rushing like a Rapidash on fire and then suddenly ‘boom!’ we’re turning in the eggs?" He ‘tsk’ed, folding his arms over his chest. "Now Melody no offense but I’m pretty sure we didn’t get fifty eggs…." He followed her back onto the train, plopping down immediately with a still expectant look on his face.

Mel was still pretty pissed when they arrived at Lumoise, but if Brian had noticed, he'd chosen not to acknowledge it. He kept his eyes on the map the whole time, and moved on to finding the gym once they arrived. Mel had ended up releasing Conglomerate, and surprisingly, the pokemon seemed to know to stay close. Still obviously elated at his changed circumstances, his gate was a bit more of a... dance, than a steady walk, but he settled down as they entered the city, and gazed about the tall buildings. Which left him oblivious to all the wide-eyed stares he was getting from those not familiar with alolan evolutions. After all, to most, he... probably just looked like a stretched out mutated exeggutor.

Eventually Brian looked up, gesturing down an alleyway that seemed to lead to the center of the city. "Gym's down there. Mind if I grab something to eat?" he asked, folding the map and tucking it under his arm as he turned a wary gaze onto Mel. She shot him a hard side look, and kept walking. "That's fine," she replied flatly. Honestly... her stomach was growling, and gnawing with hunger pains, but she was far too stubborn to join. Besides, the gym battle shouldn't take too long, given her pokemon had been getting stronger for a while. Brian looked after her, then sighed, quickly side stepping away from a passing woman, before turning to try and slink his way into a cafe.

Mel strode hard and fast towards the pokecenter, ignoring the hunger, and denying her own anger. It was getting hard to, though, especially when other thoughts and feelings started to press against it. Eventually, she faltered, and mere steps from the entrance, she stopped. What was she doing.... was she even ready for this? An electric gym, and she didn't have Z. She couldn't use Phia, and weren't electric-steel pokemon common? Maybe she could use Blue... he was a water type, but he had ground moves, and he was essentially immune to electricity, right? She... thought that was what his ability did, at least. Conglomerate needed training, and he wasn't exactly built for this gym to begin with. Kiwi knew dig.... but also really, really needed training. At least she had Lucy, who was fairly strong, and would never disobey her....

After standing there a moment, Mel's shoulders dropped, and she moved off to find the nearest place to sit down-- a bench. She doubled over, pushing her hands into her hair and closing her eyes as she rested her elbows on her knees. What was she doing... She was completely unprepared for this gym. Maybe, maybe she could scrape buy, but she needed to train more, a lot more. She had been slacking off so much on her training, getting distracted with... Alolan vacations, pretty Aussie boys, shark attack stories, competitions, and her own fervid concerns. Opening her eyes, she slowly lifted her head to look up, before straightening to continue her gaze, until she managed to finally reach one of Conglomerate's three faces, looking curiously down at her. It was odd going from an island paradise to a bustling bright city, but Lafayette welcomed the change. Being here meant he wasn’t near water, which meant maybe more more near deaths to it. Sure he could fall and die on… concrete, but since he actually knew where he was going to find Mel, he stuck to staying steady on Dova’s back. They touched down in an open are just near the streets, right near the middle of the city, the Aussie and Espurr sliding off the Noivern with little effort.
"Ta Dova, go’on an’ take a rest sheila," he remarked and with a pleased chirp in response, returned the pokemon for the time. He glanced down at Cheri, who still had her eyes glued on the communicator, probably communicating with other strangers now. If there’d been anything else from Mel she’d have probably have told him by now.
"Oi. Chero," the Espurr glanced up, blank expression as always. "Let ‘er know we’re here sheila," the Aussie remarked. Cheri didn’t seem to hesitate on that for once. That was kind of surprising given her sour attitude lately.

That would be excellent. You are a much better trainer. I will accept the red flavors of ice cream. Yes, we have just arrived. We are in the center of the sparkly city. We are in the center as mentioned. I will keep him from going to far. With that sent, Cheri opted to semi do just that. Lafayette gave her a stare before moving a little to take a stroll down the street a bit. It’d been a little while since he’d been in Kalos after all.

Lowering her head again, she ran a hand back through her short hair. Honestly, it was getting a little long... she'd need to get it trimmed at some point. As she dropped her hand, her communicator went off, and she lifted it up, smiling a bit when she saw it was from Lala-- or, well, Cheri. She read over the message, chuckling a bit, then replied:
Text to Lala/Cheri: Hello Cheri. I'm in Lumoise, right beside the gym, in the center of the city. If you'd like, I'd be happy to buy you some more ice cream, when we meet up again. Are you two heading this way?
She sat back, smiling a little, before pushing herself up. "Think we should train a bit, Con?" she queried, gazing up to the tall palm-tree pokemon. He gave a more happy, low-toned trill, his frontal face grinning happily, while another looked over to the side. She leaned, following it's gaze curiously, but paused, checking her message. If Lala was going to get here, though... She paused, considering sending another message to prod for an answer, but instead decided to just sit back down, and take a moment to get to know her pokemon, and read up on his movesets. He was psychic, right? She wondered if he could speak telepathically like Z... Sighing, she felt a gentle ache in longing for her companion, but it was soothed by the reminder that Lala had him, and they were on their way.
She was pulled from studying over information by a text message, and checked to see it was from Cheri, her eyebrows raising in surprised, before she stood up, and started looking for a sign of her friend. Cheri said they were here...? Spotting a tall blond, who seemed short an arm, she started running to close the distance, but slowed as she confirmed it was Lala, a smile on her hip as she got close enough to talk, and came to a stop. "Y'know, you're goin' in the wrong direction," she remarked, Conglomerate lumbering up behind him, "Least, ya are if you're looking for me."
