Darren had noticed next to nothing of the Zorua's works, so engrossed in his own thoughts that he couldn't possibly notice the minuscule changes that Jin made every minute or so. No, he could barely see the room around him, focusing more on pacing the floor without tripping over his own two feet and mostly what to say to Sable. Little did he know that Jin was silently listening and agreeing with his thoughts. Darren was just happy to have finally settled on something, and managed to dig some paper out of a desk drawer before he started searching for some sort of writing utensil. When Jin suddenly spoke up behind him though--not to mention in a fashion that indicated he'd heard far more than Darren would have felt comfortable with--the brunette nearly jumped out of his skin before whirling around in panic, only to come face to face with the Zorua's human illusion. "J-Jin!!?!" Darren cried out in surprise. "What--??! How did--?!" He looked towards the door and back at the Zorua a few times. He knew he'd been focused but surely if Jin had just come in and been standing there he would have noticed before. Darren knew he was oblivious at times but he wasn't that blind... Was he...?
Well of course there was still the fact that this was an illusion pokemon he was dealing with. Had Darren still not known that Jin was a zorua, then he would have been more impressed, and severely concerned. This was all irrelevant though, and while Darren still had many questions for the zorua, he settled on one that was more important. "What are you doing here...?" He asked reproachfully, still clearly quite shocked by his sudden appearance. He then noticed the pen that Jin was holding out, and took it somewhat reluctantly. He still wasn't comfortable with the fact that Jin had heard all of that, or at least most of it, but it would be silly not to accept the tool he'd been looking for just because he was upset. He turned around quickly as soon as the pen was in his hand, scrawling on the paper he'd found before he forgot his lines. While he was interested in jotting them down before he forgot, he was mostly interested in hiding his flustered face away from the zorua, lest he face some kind of cheeky comment to make him even more embarrassed.
However, another thought crossed his mind, one that distracted him from his own embarrassment. "....S-sable isn't.... Upset, is she...?" Darren asked hesitantly. "I-it's not her fault, I just... I can't... It's me. When I try to... Hah...." He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "Even now, I can't say anything that doesn't make me sound like a babbling idiot. I don't know what it is. Sometimes, I know exactly what I want to say, and how I want to say it, other times I just can't seem to articulate anything, and then I'll just keep talking far more than necessary, which... I'm probably doing now...." He groaned.

And, to be fair, it really was an easy answer for the dark type to give. Now, the specific illusions needed in order to sneak past the teen, that would be a bit harder to explain. Especially since he didn't like to explain those kinds of illusions to people.
Darren's other question sobered the dark type for a moment, more due to the teen's tone and the implications behind it than anything else. Bringing up Sable, as well as his escape, prompted Darren to ask how bad things were. Jin let out a slow sigh as he thought how best to word his impression of the situation without making the male trainer feel too terrible. Unfortunately, the dark type was still trying to be honest, so he wouldn't be able to spare Darren's feelings completely."...Yeah, I think so,"he admitted, then frowned."I doubt she'll do anything to you about it, but after you left she looked like someone just punched her just above the gut a couple of times."Thankfully, Darren didn't question that analogy yet and instead tried to explain himself. And, honestly, given the hunch Jin was getting, the dark type couldn't blame him if his suspicions were correct.

Darren gave Jin a surprisingly unimpressed look when the Zorua commented that he'd got in with illusions, rather uncharacteristic for his usual good humored nature, but he was stressed and nervous and embarrassed, so he couldn't quite help the expression from crossing his face. "Well yeah, obviously, but I meant..... Oh forget it." Darren sighed, changing the subject to ask why the Zorua was there, chuckling halfheartedly when Jin described his movements earlier. "That bad huh...?" He murmured, giving Jin an apologetic look. "I'm sorry... I don't know what comes over me in those instances, but I just get so worked up, and my only response is to leave the situation as fast as I can... Hah... I guess when it all comes down to it, I'm just a coward..." He sighed, then tempted fate by asking about Sable. He wasn't entirely sure he wanted to know the answer, but he needed to know at the same time, no matter how painful it was. And arceus, was it painful. Punched above the gut? He appreciated Jin's honesty but... Augh....
Darren grimaced and looked away. He attempted to explain, or justify himself at least, but Jin quickly affirmed his feelings and insisted that he understood, which made Darren feel at least a little bit better. Though, when Jin mentioned that it was probably harder for Darren to talk because of who he was talking to, Darren hesitated, the tips of his ears burning a bit red at what the Zorua was implying with that tone and smirk of his. "W-well... yes....." Darren mumbled, shifting his stance a bit awkwardly in Jin's side hug and keeping his gaze down. There was no point in denying anything when Jin had already heard his little practice speeches. "Well, heh... I admit she can be intimidating at times, but... It's mostly just me... I'm really er... Not the best when it comes to tact, or saving face, or words at all.... So when I'm trying to be careful with how I say something, to someone that matters, to me at least, I just.... I get so... Choked up, because I really don't want to mess it up, like I always do..." He sighed. The hint of red on Darren's ears told Jin enough for the zorua to know he hit the nail on the head. And even if he was still oblivious, the boy's admission made it clear that things weren't going to be easy."Hey, c'mon. Don't talk like that. You're just fine when you're calm,"the dark type encouraged as he patted Darren on the shoulder."Believe me, I know how it goes. As long as you keep from slipping once, you're golden, but as soon as you make a single mistake, everything starts to crumble. Right?"A grin then came over Jin's face."So I'm gonna help keep ya from that first stumble~ Or, well, ya know, try to."Even though he corrected himself once he realized he sounded a bit too ambitious, Jin really was trying to help and even figured he had a good way to do so.
The grin faded to a smile as the dark type backed away from Darren a bit."Look, you've got what you want to say, and that's a good first step,"Jin started, getting into what Darren might feel was a salesman pitch, but the zorua was being rather sincere."Problem is, I don't think you'll want to be staring at a sheet of paper when you talk to sis. You'd still like saying it, but you'd like it better if you could say it without a script in your hand. So, I'm gonna give you someone to practice on: Me~"The dark type flashed a grin again after making his offer and wasn't about to let Darren shoot him down without a fight."C'moooooon~ Sure, it's not perfect, but it should at least help get over some of the worst hurdles,"he insisted cheerfully before giving the teen a serious look."I mean, it's bound to be a lot harder to offer Sable that gift than to practice on me, and far harder than repeating the line to yourself repeatedly. Might as well take it one step at a time if you can't make the leap, ya know?"Jin then crossed his arms in front of himself as he waited for Darren's reply.
Back in the recovery room, Sable wasn't doing well with blocking out the thoughts that wouldn't shut up. About the only thing keeping her from actually shouting for mind to silence itself was the fact that the little gekkit was sound asleep while curled up on the foot of the cot. Deciding that the small pokemon might have the right idea, the teen tried to ignore her thoughts long enough to fall asleep. She was still apprehensive about that idea, but since she seemed to have caught a break last night, the trainer figured she was probably safe from nightmares for at least a handful of nights before the next bout. At least, that was how it usually worked for her, and she had no reason to suspect that it had actually been a Lunar Wing throwing off her dream cycle by preventing any nightmares she might have gotten the previous evening instead of the cycle of dreams working itself out. So, the teen gradually forced herself to shut out all of the comments circling about in her head as she felt herself drift further from consciousness.

Well, I was wanting to try again with a bad guy character, this one being more focused on capture than theft. She wouldn't be entirely starting from scratch in terms of knowing what to do or contacts due to her parents being in that line of work, but she's not gonna have much more than that since most of what she did before whenever I started playing her would be just watching acquisitions to make sure they didn't escape while her parents were busy with something or other. I figure she'd focus more on grass and bug types due to the number of snaring and status moves, whether by actual effect or potential effect from RP descriptions, that they usually have. Beyond that, large flying types and teleporting pokemon would be on her list of useful pokemon since it'd make it much easier to transport acquisitions in that case. There are others she'd be interested in, but those would be the big ones.
If I did go with that character, I'm figuring on a couple things I'd do. The first would obviously be to shuffle one of my characters to the inactive bin, and that character would likely be Felix if I did. I'd probably cycle him back in at a later point when I build up the motivation to do stuff with him, so I obviously wouldn't redistribute any of his pokemon, but it'd free up a slot and put him somewhere that I won't forget about him. The other thing I'd probably do, assuming I don't do this for some recurring NPC instead and pick something else, would be using this month's horoscope to give her a zoroark. The reason for that is I figured out a bit more for Jin's backstory, which helps free up a couple things while also making things make a bit more sense. Mostly, that one of the zoroark from the clan Jin was a part of sold out the clan to poachers (that happened to be this proposed character's parents) which led to that clan being scooped up, and from there individual members were sold off to various buyers for one reason or another. So potential conflict there.

Mitsu followed after Flynn and Hanataro, but he stopped when he spotted something in some grass. It was another Great Ball. Who was losing these? It was ridiculous! But, it was a jackpot for the rest of them. Picking it up, Mitsu rubbed the dirt off of it before he caught up to his small friends. So, they had to go through Mt. Moon again. Hopefully there wouldn't be any angry Onix there this time.

Darren didn't exactly believe Jin's words of encouragement. In his opinion, when he was calm, he was more likely to say too much, or things people didn't like to hear, which was honestly just as bad as not being able to say anything at all through the stammering and stuttering. He appreciated the zorua's attempt at cheering him up at least, though Jin made a valid point of explaining that as long as he didn't make any mistakes, he was fine. Darren folded an arm across his chest, using the other hand to rub his mouth thoughtfully. "Correct, but essentially that also means I have to be perfect, which is.... A lot to ask of someone prone to mistakes as I am..." Darren chucked defeatedly. However, Jin suggested that he would help Darren not make that first mistake, or at least try to, and Darren gave the zorua an inquisitive look. "Erm... How do you plan to do that exactly?" Darren asked, honestly curious. Jin was getting there apparently, explaining that Darren at least had the first step of knowing what he wanted to say, but pointing out that he didn't want to be staring at a sheet of paper when talking to Sable. "O-oh goodness, no. Absolutely not." He agreed. Arceus, as if practicing behind closed doors wasn't embarrassing enough, to give the implication that he had practiced and written down what he wanted to say...
Then Jin suggested that he would allow Darren to practice on him, and Darren stiffened, blinking a bit. "Wait... W-what?! N-no that's--!!" Darren began to object, feeling more humiliated by the second, but Jin insisted, suggesting that it would be a lot harder to say anything to Sable, which was unfortunately a valid point, as much as Darren didn't want to admit it. "...A-alright fine." He sighed. "But if you start laughing at me, I'm kicking you out." He said stiffly, sounding about as threatening as a yapping lillipup. He glanced at his paper, reminding himself of what to say, then he turned around, took a breath, and then looked at Jin, feeling a bit uncomfortable. "Er... But before we start... Do you think you might be able to make a Sable illusion...? Sorry, I don't think I could take this seriously practicing on your human guise...." He scratched his head sheepishly.

Or worse, say them while disguised as Darren. Good thing for the teen that the dark type would much rather have Darren say it himself.
The other condition was actually one that Jin had anticipated and his smile turned much more friendly when it was asked."Sure thing~ Just one moment..."With that, the illusion shifted briefly, and almost immediately the usual image of Jin was replaced with a near-perfect illusion of his trainer. There was just one small difference, that being the fact that the eye color was still the same as it usually was for Jin. I usually try to be understanding, too, but I tend to get worried when they suddenly disappear from Gaia entirely with little to no warning and stay disappeared for over a year. > ~ >

Darren shivered as Jin smirked at his threats, warning him that kicking him out would be a bad idea. "E-ehhh?! What's with that--" Darren started incredulously, but then it dawned on him. Jin had gone and heard probably most of his failed attempts to figure out what to say. He could easily go into Sable's room and tell her everything himself. "Y-you wouldn't-!" Darren looked absolutely mortified. Well.... Poop. There was no way that he could avoid feeling humiliated was there? "F....Fine..! I won't kick you out but... I'll be very upset!" He insisted stubbornly, though this threat was even more pathetic than the last.
Finally convinced to go through with this, Darren requested that Jin make a Sable illusion so that he could at least take this somewhat seriously. Jin seemed in agreement at least, taking a moment to construct a perfect Sable replica, complete with voice and facial expressions down to a T. Darren was impressed to say the least, and now feeling a bit nervous with the mock Sable looking at him somewhat irritably, and understandably so, considering that would likely be her mood when she saw him next. He corrected, then struggled for a moment to remember the words he had written down while he fumbled with his pocketwatch.
"I wanted to... Erm.. Apologize... For my behavior earlier. That was incredibly insensitive of me...." He said honestly. "I just.... I've been trying to give you this." It took a moment, but once Darren grasped the meaning behind Jin's warning there was nothing more to debate over. That just left the practicing itself, for which Jin took on his trainer's appearance so that the teen would get the best practice possible without actually practicing on Sable herself. Almost immediately, things started to go south as soon as Jin applied a bit of pressure. Darren had almost fled as soon as the mock conversation started! Jin couldn't help but shoot the teen a disapproving look at that, but Darren quickly corrected himself and started the conversation back up. This time the male trainer was able to go through with offering the feather, which was good, but it seemed there was still trouble.
Jin watched Darren for a moment before letting out a light sigh and reaching over to pat the poor guy on the shoulder."Not bad, all things considered,"he praised, still using Sable's voice, then straightened up."It'd be better if you could look me in the eye, but right now that's asking too much."Even though he was still being friendly, he did want to make sure things went well, and there was only so much sugar-coating he could do."How about one more run, just to make sure you'll be able to fight that flight response long enough,"the disguised zorua offered, obviously more concerned about the teen fleeing the room than stumbling over words.
Meanwhile, the real Sable was fast asleep in her cot. For the moment, she seemed to be sleeping relatively peacefully, although she did curl up more while she slept. The scenery within the dream she was having was plain and muted, but that did not bother the teen much. Indeed, things seemed to be going nicely for the time being, with her dream self chatting cheerfully with Darren and Jin. Any awkwardness of the trainer's previous interaction with the duo and whatever troubles that might have caused were non-existant as the trio talked about how Darren and Sable's next gym battle might go, joked about what they might encounter on the way, and other topics of light conversation.

Darren winced as Jin's Sable illusion gave him a clear look of disapproval from panicking right from the start. He knew it was pathetic, he knew there was no reason to panic, but he couldn't help it! He was nervous! His heart was pounding, he could feel it in his head and chest, just from seeing Sable's image there. Sure he knew it was practice and not the real thing, but that didn't make the process any less nerve wracking. Still, he managed to mentally slap himself in the face and demand that he get his act together in time to quickly correct and readjust for what he'd meant to say and do, which came out just fine. Jin seemed to agree, though he had a few tips, one of course being eye contact. That was going to be a hard one. He was so naturally submissive, looking someone in the eyes when he was nervous made him feel so vulnerable and uncomfortable.
He had to try though. Sighing and straightening himself out, Darren gave a nod in response as Jin suggested they try again. He looked the illusionary Sable in the eyes, her slightly irritated look sending his heart racing again after he'd just managed to calm down. He swallowed dryly, feeling his palms grow hot as he fought the urge to look away. "I'm... I-I'm sorry...." Darren mumbled, eyes daring to drop down, but he forced them to meet the illusion's. "I didn't mean to... Run out like that earlier. I just wanted to give you this..." Darren allowed himself to look down just this once at the feather in his hand, it was a necessary break in eye contact that would seem more natural, but also grant him a bit of relief. Once he managed to hold the feather out though, he made sure to look up again. "It'll help you with your nightmares." He suggested with a soft, though somewhat simpering smile.
He'd managed to get that out better, but he still felt pretty terrible. "I should have given it to her today... No, I should have given it to her yesterday, when I actually got it...." Darren groaned, storing the feather back into his pocketwatch for now. "I want to go apologize but she probably doesn't want to see me. I wouldn't either..." Darren said miserably. "Or she's asleep, either way... I'll delay for another day... Again." He sighed, moving to sit on hit bed, and putting his head in his hands. "By then I'll probably lose any confidence I've gained today. I appreciate your efforts Jin, but I'm fairly certain I'm going to mess it up. Why don't you give her the feather?" He suggested. "I don't mind, really. I'm not looking to be some hero or anything, I just.... Want her to be okay." Darren flopped back to sprawl out on the bed and close his eyes with a sigh.

With a bit of urging, Darren agreed to make another attempt, and although he was still shaky, the teen actually managed to do a lot better than he had the first time around. He even managed to maintain eye contact, something that Jin honestly didn't expect the teen to be able to accomplish. Even so, it seemed that in spite of Jin's efforts to help the trainer, Darren actually managed to feel worse about the whole thing, lamenting that he should have given the feather to Sable earlier and that even if he did try to give it to her now, Sable would probably be asleep anyway, which would mean he'd have to wait yet another day. It was enough to make Jin let out a sigh as he changed back into his usual illusion.

I'll give it to her,"he finally replied, not sounding pleased at all about the idea. Still, this thing was supposed to help his trainer, and he had no problems with the feather being given to her. Jin let out a sigh of his own and sat on the bed next to Darren while he waited for the teen to hand over the feather, not so much out of desperation as it was out of exhaustion. For a moment he frowned, then tried giving a small smile as he turned his head to look at Darren."I'm sure things'll be smoothed out in the morning,"he tried to assure the teen.

Darren winced as Jin agreed to give the feather to Sable. Even he knew that this was hopeless. Darren honestly hadn't expected the zorua to give in so easily, but hearing his acceptance only reaffirmed his own hopelessness on the matter, but he knew it was probably for the best. This was all for Sable's well being, so it didn't really matter how she got the feather as long as she got it.... Right? Jin sat down next to Darren on the bed, looking rather tired himself. Shuffling into his pocket again. Darren pulled out his pocketwatch and opened it so that he could sit up and hand the feather to Jin. Afterwards Darren brought his legs up onto the bed so he could huddle his knees and sulk. Jin tried to reassure him that things would probably be smoothed out in the morning. "Yeah...." His words indicated agreement, but Darren certainly didn't look or sound convinced. He was more agreeing to create some sort of false hope for both himself and Jin, even if he didn't really believe it. After a moment, Darren spoke up again. "....Do you think I'm a coward...?" Darren asked quietly without looking at the zorua. His melancholy expression and glossy gaze were still very much stuck to the wall opposite him. He felt a bit bad about putting Jin on the spot like this, because either he would be blunt and tell Darren the truth, or he'd try and lie to make him feel better, which would have the opposite effect. Either way, it wasn't going to be a good answer, he knew that, and yet he asked anyways. He wasn't even sure why. "...Never mind. You don't have to answer that. I'll see you in the morning." Darren insisted, rolling over onto his side and facing his back towards Jin.
