 "I do hope you are enjoying yourself," said a voice from beside her.
She jumped as she realized she had gotten lost in her thoughts and glanced over her shoulder towards the source. Her breath caught as she recognized the tall, broad man beside her.
"Sorry," he apologized, flashing a sympathetic smile in her direction. "I didn't mean to startle you."
"No need to apologize. My head had gotten lost in the clouds again, it seems. And yes, I am enjoying the event."
He chuckled quietly before drifting a bit closer to her. "I'm surprised that you're not out there with the others."
"I was for a little bit," she said, before shrugging. "But hard to fulling participate when you keep feeling like the outsider among all of the groups of friends."
"You're not close?"
"We're close... just not on the same level. They've known each other outside of our circle for many years before I came into the picture."
"Ah, yes, that can be hard to compete against."
She shrugged. "I'm used to it. Able to be friends with everyone but only a select few earn the title of 'best friend'."
"Think I would be worthy?"
She turned completely to face them in surprise. "What?"
He held out a hand. "Give me a least one dance and you can decide whether I would be worthy of being a best friend of yours or not."
She stared at him in his warm chocolate brown eyes trying to see if she was seeing signs of... well, she wasn't completely sure what she was looking for. That seemed to happen every time she happened to let herself get lost in his gaze.
"I would be honored to call you a friend," she said, placing her hand in his. "There has never been any doubt about that."

Hmm... looks like there's a new film that was added on Tubi from Alfred's 90s era. So, I think I'll watch that tonight.

me pointing at my favorite fictional characters: that's my boyfriend and that's my boyfriend and that's my boyfriend and that's my girlfriend and that's my boyfriend and that's my partner etc. etc.It terms of Alfred Molina's characters, it's more like: "That's my boyfriend and that's my husband and that's my uncle and that's my father and..."
And it doesn't really bother me too much that I can see Alfred in so many roles.
