Rinis and Green Galensith
Week 3(22-28 ) : 1 1-10. You don't know exactly what happened, but somehow you have wound up tangled up in a fishing net, out in the middle of the ocean. You thrash around and try hard to free yourself, but all you wind up doing is breathing in the salt-water. Thankfully, you're fished out by your fellows, untangled from the net, and dragged back to shore. Outside of being a little traumatized, roll a D4 to see what the results of your poor fishing happened to be!
3. You are feeling miserable. Your nose stings, you're nauseous from drinking up so much salt water, and you're a bit cut up from the hooks. To make it worse, you've lost the net in its entirety, and now need to go to the infirmary to get the hooks removed and ensure they don't get infected. Blargh. What a day. [-15 points] Stats: 4+3 = -7

Mine. Mine watch out!

It all happened so very fast. Rinis had hoped after her disastrous pole fishing that perhaps some nice wide open ocean fishing would be more up her alley. Clearly it wasn't as she got tangled in the net and shipped overboard with a giant splash. She was luckily fished out before she drowned, but she was absolutely miserable. Her nose stung, and all that sea water made her nauseous. There were numerous cuts from the hooks that should have been catching fish instead of her. And the net was gone. Now she was heading to infirmary to get the hooks removed and wounds cleaned.

*sigh*
1. Your net was torn and will require some patching, using up some of the Weyr's supplies. Any fish that might have been caught in it are now free to swim another day, and you bring in nothing for the day. Outside of wounded pride, and wet clothes, you're fine to continue fishing another day. [-5 points]

2. Your net was torn badly, and is now unusable. Any fish that might have been in the net are long gone, and you're not returning with a net loss of... a net lost! Not only that, but your nose burns, and you're not feeling too great thanks to your half-drown experience. Blegh. Better report the lost net. [-10 points]

To make it worse, you've lost the net in its entirety, and now need to go to the infirmary to get the hooks removed and ensure they don't get infected. Blargh. What a day. [-15 points]

4. You fall ill. Perhaps it was drinking too much saltwater; perhaps it was getting wrapped up in netting and wire, but you find yourself coming down with the sniffles, and then it turns into a full-blown cold. You wind up needing to be a few days in the infirmary, and aren't going to be able to participate for the next next sevenday. [-20 points, and character loses the next sevenday's roll (so skip a week)]

Vosin and Gold Killakeeth
Week 3(22-28 ) : 68 61-70: You're fishing with a pole today, standing on the small floating dock.
You see the bobber go under, and pull up hard. Sure enough, there's a whopper at the end of the line. It's a fight, and you can tell you've snagged the largest packtail you've ever seen. Unfortunately you yank too hard and the line snaps. Not only is your pole now useless, but the big one gets away.
Worse, your fishing luck the rest of the sevenday seems to follow suit... You wind up with a whole lot of nothin'. -10 points

With Killakeeth's help last week, Vosin had managed to add a small amount of food to the weyr's larder. She'd figured she'd give it another go this week. Line cast out, the gold rider setting in to watch and relax, rocking gently with the small floating dock. The bobber went under and Vosin grabbed the pole to give it hard yank.

Ooo you caught a big one there Vosin. The gold's attention was attracted by all the splashing. Don't distract me! Just as she gives a pull that was a little too hard. The line snaps and the big one got away. Shaft it all! Her pole was now useless.

You'd think he'd learn. Nope. Here he was again, once more tangled in the net. At least this time it wasn't too bad. The net would need some minor repairs, but all the fish got to live another day.

N'den and Brown Belengath
Week 3(22-28 ) : 29 21-30: Well that didn't go as planned. You thought you were pulling in a whopper, but instead all it turns out to be is an ancient, slimey, and very unsalvageable boot tangled up with some driftwood. There's nothing edible about this--not even any shelled seagrubs. To top it off, any fishing you do the rest of the day will either result in no bites or catches. -15 points

Nothing but the beach, the sun, blue waves, and hot chicks. N'den grinned and adjusted his hat to a couple of ladies nearby. Focus on your fishing. Aw where's the fun in that? Oh look a bite! Eager to show off, he reeled in the line expected a nice big whopper. His whopper turned out to be a very unimpressive slimy and unsalvageable boot. Definitely not something to be proud of.

What...... what even is that? Disgust oozed from the brown's mind.

1. Nothing but a flesh wound! It stings, but will heal within a sevenday.

B'den had been having fun right up until the line snapped with a sharp twang. At first she didn't feel anything. Then her dragon came up with worry in her eyes. Oh dear Mine. Perhaps we should get that looked at. She winced as she noticed the blood dripping from her palm. By the first egg. Why does this always happen? The pair headed off to the healers to get her hand seen to.

2. This one is going to leave a scar. It will heal, but it's going to hurt! You'll still be able to fish, but you might want to wear some gloves.

3. The wound wasn't terrible, but it becomes infected! This will prevent you from fishing for a sevenday [skip the next week's rolls].

4. Ouch! This is deep. You have either lost a finger, or have cut into a nerve. This means you are out for the remainder of the game, and your grip will be permanently weakened. Take an extra -5 points for this roll

It seemed his good luck would continue; Chirakumath could only chuckle as Amrit scoured up and down the beach after drills, plucking spiderclaws up and chucking them into his bucket. His flits raced back and forth -- and only had to scold Daydream once for taking one for a snack. But the bucket was brimming with shiny shells and the chaotic clicks and clacks of angry pinchers.

She'd read the weather signs. It would be an excellent day for fishing. M'ay decided it'd be better to use a pole. Just lay there like you do and be quiet. Not that she had to tell him. The fish were biting well! By the end of the day, she had a nice full bucket of yellowfin and fingertails. The cooks would be happy to see these!

2. A dragon (your dragon maybe?) becomes a floating platform. He or she takes you (and his or her rider if it's not yours) a little bit further from shore. They mus have been lucky because you wind up catching quite a haul! Some yellowgills, redfins, and a rare green shellback are all brought in to be salted, boiled, smoked, and dried. Tasty! +10 points

3. You fish with a net, and while there were a few tangles early on, you find your stride. Within your haul you find a rare but very meaty and very pregnant flatfish. This thing is ugly but its meat is known to be smoked--and its eggs are a true treat even Lord Holders pay a pretty penny for. Casgar and the kitchenfolk will be more than pleased! +15 points

4. You head out with a few others to fish the deeper waters, and lo and behold, you successfully return with noneother than a massive deepfish! It was a fight to catch, but outside of being covered in saltwater and seafoam, you're practically a hero! Deepfish! Deepfish! +20 points

If you are a rider, take your two highest stats. Whatever the total is, add those to the points you earn! (i.e. 8 + 2 = 10... so you get an extra 10 points to whatever you rolled above!)

What had felt like a mighty impressive catch... ended up being such a fake. Zexear had dumped himself over, expecting to haul up something impressive like a deepfish. But the slimy, slightly-rotten-through boot was... Ha.. Zexear ran a hand over his face, unable to stop the peal of giggles flitting through him. Oh, how embarrassing... His face tinged pink as he tossed it behind him, after inspecting it to be utterly unsalvagable. Even if his luck wouldn't improve through the day, and Zexear would push himself to do better, he'd probably still chuckle to himself on occasion.

Part of him had been... hopeful for another beach find of spiderclaws, but. Luck wasn't on his side.

It certainly wasn't when he'd been trying to reel in the packtail. Perhaps it was his zealousness to reel the sharding thing in faster, maybe it was his nerves to be near the water once more. But the bluerider felt his line break through the pole before he's sent staggering backwards a step, two.

It's a low, almost desperate chuckle, ducking his head slightly as he tried to spot the packtail in the water, but the fish was long gone. Restringing his pole wouldn't take too long, but the embarrassment at it was palpable. He was certainly no fisherman.

At this point, he'd almost certainly rather ride into threadfall in the buff than possibly cause more wasted resources for Western.
Ugh.

What had started as an alright day of fishing had turned south pretty fast -- her line snapped, and what couple fish had been in the bucket had flopped back to freedom as it got tipped over. Blood dripped openly from her palm, sliced open in her haste. Cloveth's concern was immediate, though Amiari waved it away.

"It's just a small cut, I'll be fine." It stung fiercely, and she washed it out with saltwater to clean it -- even if she'd regret it for the next week.
