-]The odd feeling building in the pit of the girl's stomach was growing worse, but the source of her discomfort soon came to light...as did a small shrub a little ways ahead. Right before her eyes, the plant withered and then ignited, crackling with fresh flames. Out from beneath the plant came a small red...monkey thing. The creature looked right at the girl once it spotted her, then back at the bush, then back at her. It smiled, it's expression not playful in the least, but somehow...cruel. Cerbera's eyes went wide as she realized what had just happened. This little thing had intentionally set that bush aflame! She pulled her pokedex out quickly to get some idea of what this creature was, but while she was listening, the little arsonist started to run off. "Ahh! No! He'll light the whole forest!" Berrie exclaimed, "Loofah! Get him! Get him good! Use your Bubble Attack!" The Froakie croaked in response, looking pretty mad herself about the fire, and hopped after the little monkey. Once she was close enough, the frog croaked loudly, sending a huge bubbled drifting after the Pansear. Alerted by the sound, the Pansear turned, just in time to catch the bubble in the face and be knocked for a loop. Steam hissed from the rapidly cooled body and Cerbera ran up to where the two had fought, throwing a pokeball. The poor girl missed by a mile in her haste, but she took a breath and threw again, catching the monkey on the second shake. "Loofah! Great work!" she exclaimed, "But you have to use your bubble on the bush too before it catches anything else!"[-

-]Loofah hopped over to the crackling bush and blew bubble after bubble at it, each one shrinking the flames a little bit. It took a while before there was any sort of noticeable change, but the little Froakie stayed strong. She wouldn't give up on this. Sure the forest wasn't her home, but she couldn't let this fire spread. When it finally was doused enough to go out and stay out, Loofah collapsed, a tired croak escaping her. Cerbera picked the frog up in her arms and kissed it softly on top of the head. "You did a great job, Loofah," she whispered, "You're a real hero. Rest for now." The girl took a long scarf from her bag and fashioned a sling of sorts, similar to one she remembered seeing her mother use when her little brother was just a baby. She placed the Froakie in the sling and then tied it around her chest, holding her dear friend close the her heart. "Rest, Loofah," she repeated, hoping the tiny frog would listen and nap to recover its energy. Now that the immediate problem was solved, Berrie retrieved her new pokemon and got a potion out to treat it's wounds. She let the little fella out of the ball, but made sure she had a firm grip on the troublemaker before tending to the wounds. It was a good idea, because as soon as he woke, the little Pansear tried to squirm away. "Calm down," she said, trying to sound soothing, "You're not in trouble, and you're not going to be hurt." The girl's words seemed to reach the Pansear as he stopped struggling. "I'm going to take care of you now, okay? I thought I might call you Striker, like what you use to light matches." The Pansear seemed to like that name and grinned up at Cerbera, yet...the smile gave the girl a cold feeling.[-

You could have gotten badly hurt." Her concern was clear, but so was Striker's annoyance. Her words were falling on deaf ears. The little guy liked to burn things. It was fun, and he didn't plan to ever stop. Being ignored was really a bit irksome for the girl, so rather than continue to lecture the little monkey, she recalled Striker to his pokeball and stood back up. -]Cerbera got back to her feet and stretched a bit, knowing that she would sleep well tonight whether or not they made it out of this forest. Still...she hoped that they did, as this was starting to get a bit monotonous. All this walking, the path the trees...it seemed like it was never going to end. "Okay, Spirit," she said after a few moments, "Let's get going again. If we drag our feet any more, we'll never get out of here." The Espeon nodded in agreement and started back down the path, keeping pace with the girl. Cerbera followed along, letting Spirit lead the way for the moment. Her attention was elsewhere, peering into the sling wrapped around her body to check on Loofah. The little frog was croaking softly, sound asleep.[-

-]Well, one thing was for sure...even if she did get lost in this crazy forest, it had been good for the girl's pokemon. Cerbera was positive that they looked a lot stronger than they had when she first came in here, plus she had made some new friends! In her mind, all of that far outweighed the negative aspects of getting lost. Even though she was being very vocal and complaining about how long crossing the forest was taking, Berrie was glad she was making the journey. It looked like the young lady was due for another stop though, granted it would be a brief one. She spotted another one of those Fletchlings circling overhead. Cerbera was starting to feel like she attracted those things like a magnet. Not wanting to wait for the bird pokemon to come down and catch her when her guard was lowered, Cerbera instead tossed Duster's Pokeball up into the air, releasing him from it. "Duster," she called out, "That Fletchling from earlier's back, I think! Go give 'em a good tackle so he leaves us alone!" The bird chirped, nodding to his mistress and then flew up and up and up! He shot up past the Fletchling, eyeing the bird, and then slammed into it from above with a hard dive. The fletchling fell out of the sky and out of sight, and Duster fluttered back down to land on the girl's shoulder, chest puffed out in pride.[-

-]Berrie reached up to the Pidgey on her shoulder and gave it a few congratulatory pats. It had done a good job, making her regret what she had said about him earlier. Duster was very loyal and clearly very good at what he did. "Thank you, Duster," she told him, "You were a great help. Who knows what the Fletchling might have done if you hadn't chased him off...Have yourself a good rest." The girl recalled her Pidgey to its ball and tucked it away in a safe spot. She continued walking along the path, making her way for the edge of the woods. After walking for a bit more, the girl felt something squirming in her sling. Loofah was apparently awake and trying to worm her way out of it. As soon as the little frog was free, it croaked loudly and hopped out of her grasp, then off the trail. "Ah, Loofah! Wait up!" Berrie cried out, chasing after her friend. When she caught up to the Froakie, it was clutching a jar of Fresh Pokemon Honey that someone must have dropped. The lid was cracked, and a sweet scent was coming from it. "That must have been what drew you here, huh, Loofah?" the girl asked, to which the frog nodded. It then pointed to a large tree that was nearby.[- -]Spirit made her way up to the girl and took a lick at the lid of the honey jar. [- -]Cerbera paused for a moment, then she decided to give it a try. After all, the lid was broken so she couldn't take the honey with her. And she had heard rumors that it could be used like this, so...She picked up the jar and smeared the majority of it all over the tree, saving only a little to share with Loofah and Spirit. -]With the honey spread on the tree, Cerbera gethered up Loofah and Spirit, and the three of them retreated behind a bush, waiting to see what might happen with their lure. It seemed to take forever, because for the longest time nothing was happening. However, after about an hour and much to the girl's surprise, the tree began to rustle. A moment later, a purple monkey-looking thing dangled down from one of the tree's lower branches.Once it reached the part of the trunk with the honey, the little monkey cuoldn't seem to be able to help itself, it jsut latched on and started licking away. This gave Cerbera a chance to take her Pokedex out and get a better idea of what she was looking at. "An Aipom, huh?" she said, "That's pretty interesting...It looks like it could be pretty strong, but not stronger than you, Spirit...Time to show your stuff."[- -] the Espeon replied, as it sauntered out from behind the bush, looking to get a piece of the Aipom while it was distracted. However, before the could, the Aipom noticed her and lunged. It seemed to almost grow in size, blowing up like a balloon. Spirit winced a bit as the larger-than-life Aipom hit her hard, but in the next instant, it was back, licking the tree as if nothing had happened. Insulted by the monkey's gall, Spirit's eyes began to glow bright pink, as did the very air around the Aipom. It seemed to shudder a bit from some sort of mental attack Espeon had used. Clearly the Aipom was not amused, and it jumped from the tree to go after Spirit for real. However, still reeling from the last attack, it ended up getting tangled up in its own tail and hit the ground hard. Spirit, wanting to show off for her friend, showed no mercy. With a brief cry, a star shaped beam emitted from the gem on the Espeon's head, nailing the Aipom and sending it tumbling back against the tree, out cold.[- -]"Alright, Spirit! That was amazing!" Berrie called out, tossing a pokeball at the downed pokemon to capture it. The ball barely even shook once before locking down, the Aipom clearly too worn out to fight it. Ecstatic, the girl ran over to her green-furred friend and hugged Spirit tight. "You did it!" she shouted, "I'm so proud of you!"[-

-]Cerbera took a moment to collect herself while still holding onto her Espeon tightly. The excitement of the battle and the resulting capture was starting to wear off, and her brain snapped into "triage mode" almost immediately. Not only was that Aipom she caught knocked out completely, but Spirit was injured in the fight as well. She dug a couple of potions out of her bag for her green-furred friend and kissed the Espeon on the cheek. "This might sting a bit, but it'll make you feel better," she said, "I promise." With the potions applied to Espeon, restoring the sheen to her beautiful coat, Cerbera went to retrieve her pokeball. She was impressed by this happy little guy's energy and decided that she would rearrange things a bit so she could take the Aipom with her as part of her party. Seeing as how she had never used Mouth in any battles, it wouldn't hurt to shift him to one of the backup slots. With that figured out, Berrie got another few potions out and opened the pokeball, letting the injured pokemon out. With just the first potion used, it's wounds began to knit together and it was slowly starting to come round. "Aerin," she said softly, "Aerin...I'm Cerbera...I'm going to take care of you from now on, okay? Just be patient and we'll get those ouchies taken care of..." She used the other potions to top the pokemon off, but knew still that he would need to see the nurse at the Pokemon Center before she should call on him in combat. Frankly all of her recent acquisitions could stand to have a thorough checkup. Recalling Aerin, the girl gathered up both Spirit and Loofah and resumed her journey through the woods. Thankfully, after another ten or so minutes, the edge of the forest came into view, a small city beyond it. "Guys! We made it!" she exclaimed, dashing for the city as fast as she could go.[-

Nearing the route leading to Aquacorde, Aston was stopped yet again. This time, however, it was become something was blocking their path. It looked like....What was that Pokémon called? An...Eevee? Yes, Eevee. That's what it looked like. But, he didn't recognize the evolution, if it was an evolution of Eevee. Regardless, it stared at him as if sizing him up for a few minutes, and Aston grabbed hold of Nactigal's ball in case it wanted to fight. Instead, oddly enough, it just...sat down and tilted his head at him expectantly. That was odd. Odder than odd. That was flat out bizarre. Did it want to come with him?"Melee."Did it just say...Melee? Was that it's species name? Grabbing and empty Pokéball, Aston decided to test his theory and tossed the sphere at the creature. It didn't even put up much of a fight. Huh....Bizarre. Rhindon went over to pick it up and hand it to Aston. So, that was his sixth Pokémon. Interesting.

Dom tilted his head up as he stepped into the forest, watching and feeling as the foliage above blocked the sun, casting them into a dim area that he found rather relaxing. Holding back a yawn he turned on his heels so that he could face his two starters, readjusting his grip on the egg at the same time so that it didn't slip out of his hands. "We're going to be here for a while," he told the two, hands sliding down into his pockets. "So, use this time to train, find some pokemon to battle against." Bellona gave him a happy chirp, and just like in Vaniville charged off into the nearest grouping of tall grass.
Mercury, after giving Dom a backwards glance, trotted after Bell at a slower pace. "Go help them," he instructed Al and waited until he was off his shoulder and scampering after the two. Now that they had someone to oversee them, he was confident enough to take his eyes off of them. He had a few things to take care of, some calls to make and items to be crossed off his mental itinerary; the sort of things he didn't need new pokemon to distract him from.
