Darren didn't really mind Sable laughing at his misery, knowing she meant no ill will by it. He probably did look rather pitiful, near tears with pain just because a tiny gekkit had curled up on his back. The absence of pain settled in once the gekkit was picked up, relieving Darren's back of the unwanted pressure on his bruises, and Darren sighed, relaxing a bit and chuckling as Sable commented that he couldn't be his cushion today. "Or tomorrow, or the next day, or a few days really...." Darren chuckled grimly, grimacing as he sat up again. Sable got right to the point, asking how bad it was, and Darren sighed. "I was psychically thrown against a brick wall twice, so I guess pretty bad...?" He laughed dryly, though it hurt. "Hah... In truth, it's not a pretty sight, but it's just bad bruising, nothing broken, miraculously. I'm fine, really. This is n-nothing compared to you and Jin... Or, rather how Jin was anyways." Darren insisted, but he wasn't doing a very good job of it.
Sable clearly wasn't convinced, reminding him that acting tough wouldn't get him anywhere. "Heh, well that's true, but I'm not acting tough, I'm prioritizing your injuries over mine." Darren grinned a very dorky sort of smile. "I couldn't act tough to save my life." He admitted freely, though when Sable suggested an ice pack, he nodded in agreement. ""Ice... Sounds great, actually..." He chuckled in agreement. If Jin got him some, Darren would be very appreciative. Judging by how well he was recovering thanks to the center's work and the ash Darren had used, the order of urgency had changed he supposed; now Jin was the healthiest among them. Darren picked up on the sad frown Sable was giving him though, and gave her a tired smile. "Don't worry, give me a few days and I'll be good as new. It's you I'm worried about..." He suggested quietly, averting his gaze.

Even though she had been expecting something bad, Sable winced when Darren admitted that his own injuries were the result of being thrown against a brick wall a couple of times."Yeah... It's pretty lucky that you just ended up with bruises, even if they're terrible ones,"she agreed, although she couldn't help but chastise him for trying to hide how bad off he was really doing. Sable frowned when Darren insisted that he was just giving her injuries a higher priority."That doesn't mean you should neglect your own troubles. You should have at least asked for some pain reliever or something..."she replied, then let out a troubled sigh. It was soon decided that Sable would send Jin to fetch an ice pack when he got back, since it looked like he was going to be the most mobile of the group for a while. Again, Darren insisted that he would be fine, and this time Sable couldn't help but let out a bitter chuckle."Yeah, but you know how it goes. The more someone suffers, the less they worry about their own suffering and the more they worry about the suffering of others."
For a moments, there was silence as Darren wouldn't meet Sable's gaze. It made the female trainer uncomfortable for at least a few reasons and she couldn't help but let out a soft sigh."Sorry... I probably sound pretty hypocritical right now... Considering I'm apt to forget myself when making sure someone else is alright..."she admitted, then let out another sigh."But you've been doing so much for me... And as grateful as I am for it, I..."She struggled for a moment as she tried to figure out how to put the way she was feeling without sounding too off-putting, but with how much she was already feeling like she messed up, she couldn't really think of a way to say what she wanted to."...I wanna make sure we can all leave as soon as we can."It was about as much of a lie as she could tell without there being an actual falsehood present. There was a lot more to it, but she had noticed that her concerns were already causing Darren discomfort and instead of continuing to pile things on, decided it was better to fall back on old habits and bottle her worries up where they'd bother no one but her.
A bit more time passed before a voice called out from beyond the door to the room."Uh, a little help, please? I'd open it myself, but I don't want to dro- WOAH!"There were a few sounds of stumbling outside due to one of the plates Jin had been trying to balance on an elbow suddenly becoming a bit unbalanced and him having to move in order to keep its contents from spilling. The poor dark type had thought it would be best to do it all in one trip and had forgotten one tiny detail: Getting the door open to head into the room. In one hand he had a small tower of bowls, in another he was trying to carry a fair-sized bag of pokemon food, and then there were the meals for himself and Darren balanced precariously along the bent arm whose hand was carrying that bag of pokemon food. The top bowl had a few small containers filled with powdered berries of different flavors since the dark type had recalled that the pokemon food used at the pokemon centers was a bit on the bland side.

Oh, no, that wasn't the intention. XD It was just a heads up so you wouldn't be going "Uh, do these songs fit with the other two, or..." since we had just been talking about Jin's songs, most of which are in the same series. Believe me, the only time I actually care whether a song is in a series or not is when I'm trying to hunt down similar songs, since it gives me a place to start looking. XD

Yeah, that could work. Or whenever you feel up to skipping ahead to nightfall. After eating, Sable's pretty much gonna be feeling like she's grasping at straws to keep Jin and Darren from being bored. She gets their here to see her and not necessarily to mess around, but it'd still be easier to keep the boys - and herself - from getting stir crazy if they do something.

Darren nodded sadly in agreement when Sable commented that he was lucky to just get bruises. That was partially why he was trying to just ignore the pain and help Sable out, rather than worry about himself, but she did have a point about at least getting himself an ice pack or something to numb the soreness. "I-in truth I'd thought about it, but...." Darren attempted to explain. Much like breakfast, he'd honestly just not given it much thought, not until he'd been forced to observe the marks on his torso when he'd been getting ready for his shower. Darren was a bit neglectful to his own needs for sure, but at least he wasn't the kind to deny this fact, or any offered help, so when Sable offered that Jin could get him an ice pack, Darren gladly accepted. That seemed to satisfy her qualms at least, though she was still pretty worried about him. Darren felt the need to insist he was fine, that really Sable should be more worried about her own well being. He shifted uncomfortably, averting his gaze, unknowingly allowing the awkward silence to sink in while Sable struggled to articulate what was on her mind.
She mentioned that the more someone suffered, the more she worried about them, and less about herself. "Heh... Yeah, I certainly know how that goes, but hey, if I'm looking out for you, and you're looking out for me, then even if we neglect our own needs, at we've got each other covered right?" He offered a cheery smile at the prospect. Sable still seemed to feel pretty bad though, mentioning that she felt hypocritical. There seemed to be more that she had wanted to say when she added that Darren had been doing so much for her, but she couldn't seem to find the words, instead settling for the fact that she wanted them all to be able to leave as soon as they could. "We'll leave eventually, but it won't do us much good to leave when we're not fully recovered and then get hurt even more. I wouldn't worry about it, just try to relax and enjoy the downtime." Darren chuckled, though when Jin spoke up outside of the door, he jumped to his feet, hoping that the Zorua hadn't fallen when he heard Jin cry out. Thankfully it seemed that Jin had managed to catch his balance again, and Darren quickly took some of the more precarious platters, such as the one he was currently trying to balance on his elbow, before that situation changed again. With Darren's help, all of the food managed to get inside safely without ending up on the floor, and as soon as Darren was sure everything was situated, he began to toss a few berries into his mouth from his side of fruit he'd requested while dressing his toasted bagel with the small packet of cream cheese.
Now, there was still the issue of getting their pokemon fed. Darren wasn't sure how they were going to fit so many pokemon of all shapes and sizes in the tiny recovery room. Frankly it probably wasn't a good idea to allow the sort of free for all that they usually had in the cafeteria of the center. He would probably resort to one at a time, or at most two or three of his smaller pokemon at a time. For now he prepped the food bowls and let out Flynn, Bolt, and Pascal so that they could eat. Before Darren could go back to eating however, he received an anonymous notification on his xtransceiver. At first he wondered if it was Alex, but upon opening the note, it was rather obvious it was from mister DiCaprio. "Log in to your PC when you get the chance." It read, the signature reading a simple DiC. Darren felt a bit uncomfortable, but made his way to the computer in on the other side of Sable's bed, curious and wanting to take a look. Sure enough, three new pokemon had been added to his storage, the methods of obtaining said pokemon probably on the questionable side. Darren repressed a sigh, but at this point he would be a fool to release them. Even he had to admit, they were rather valuable pokemon. A mudkip, mantyke, lapris, and what was this? An albino eevee? How interesting... "Looks like some of my pokemon trades on the GTS went through... I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to meet some of my new pokemon~" Darren explained, feeling a it bad about the lie, but he didn't exactly want to explain the appearance of his many new pokemon by mentioning his parents got them for him. It either gave the impression that he was rich in resources or that his parents were thieves, both of which were technically true, but Darren was too modest and rule abiding to feel comfortable with these facts. Taking another look at the computer though, it seemed some items had been transferred to his item storage as well. Darren took them all out, placing the items in his bag and sitting on the floor before letting his new mudkip and mantyke out to start, since they were small and would take up less space. "Hiya! I'm Darren,and I guess I'm your new trainer?" He chuckled, ruffling his hair a bit sheepishly. Flynn gave a light snort of amusement. Was Darren not sure if he was their new trainer? He had the pokemon, it seemed rather obvious to the charmeleon anyways. "Muuudkip!" ('Hi Darren!!') The mudkip greeted, wiggling his fins happily and prancing over to his new trainer, putting his paws up onto Darren's knee as he stood on his hind legs like a little lilipup. The mantyke however had a bit more trouble maneuvering around the floor with her fins and no water to swim through. She didn't seem to mind though, even when in the midst of her flipper flopping, she managed to flip herself upside down. "Tyke!~" ('Heehee!~') She giggled, amused by her own clumsiness. Darren chuckled, patting the mudkip's head and then helping the mantyke into his lap.

As bad as it'd probably sound, Sable was glad Jin was having trouble carrying everything. It gave Darren a reason to go help the zorua, which, in turn, gave the desert trainer an opportunity to force her emotions back where she felt they belonged. By the time Darren was back by the bed with his food, Sable was even able to give him a smile. It didn't look entirely natural, but whatever fakeness there was to it was quickly hidden behind her laugh as she watched Jin get the rest of the meals situated. The little gekkit had bounded off the bed with several yips almost as soon as the zorua entered the room and now she was practically dancing around Jin while he got everything set up. That alone provided plenty of amusement from Sable's point of view.
After getting the bowls filled with food, Jin let out a sigh at his trainer's laughter."Yeah, yeah... Keep laughin', sis,"the dark type grumbled as he sprinkled some pecha berry powder onto one bowl of pokemon food before mixing it with one of the forks he brought and putting it aside for the gekkit to eat out of."I'll keep this in mind the next time you want help feeding the rest of your team."Sure, Jin was trying to sound mean, but he didn't really mean anything by it. Unless he or Darren were stuck in a bed, he doubted Sable would actually try to carry that much stuff in one trip.
Sable's laughter relaxed into a chuckle."Ah, not like that's much of a concern,"she replied jokingly as she let out her ekans, pidgey, and spritzee. She figured she'd let some of the smaller pokemon out to eat, first. Darren had done the same, but before he could actually go back to his own food, a message of some sort on his Xtranceiver made him have to check on something."Hmm? What's up?"Sable asked while Darren messed with the PC. It took a bit of looking, but the male trainer eventually explained that some trades went through and that he wanted to meet the new teammates."Oh, that's fine,"she assured him with a smile before forcing herself to eat a spoonful of the oatmeal she had left. It had gotten cold, but it was still food so she figured she aught to finish it up.
After helping to fix up some more dishes for the pokemon Darren and Sable sent out, Jin sat at the desk and worked on his own plate of food."By the way, Jin...?""Hn?"The dark type had just gotten a bite of one of the sausages he had on his plate when he heard his trainer, and he hastily swallowed the bit of food as he turned to face the teen."Once you're done eating, could you get Darren an ice pack?"Jin couldn't help but grimace at the request, not because he didn't want to, but because he remembered seeing Darren get tossed around during that fight."Yeah, not a problem. Just wanna get a few bites in first. Berries are awesome and all, but I kinda need some protein,"he replied with a forced chuckle before turning back to his food and working on scarfing it down.

Darren couldn't help but chuckle at Sable's amusement, though Jin's situation with the gekkit was amusing too, it amused Darren much more to see how funny Sable thought it was. Jin however, was not amused in the slightest, mumbling about keeping this in mind when she wanted help feeding her team. It was all in good fun though, and Sable certainly didn't seemed too bothered by the zorua's threats. Darren hadn't gotten but a few bites of bagel before he was alerted that he had new pokemon and items in his storage. Though it was a nice gift and he was eager to meet the new pokemon sent to him, Darren couldn't help but feel a bit anxious. Not only because he had to lie to Sable about where the gifts were coming from, but also because he himself wasn't exactly comfortable knowing where the gifts had probably come from. Thankfully an explanation that he'd just been trading via the GTS seemed to be acceptable to her at least, and she'd dropped the subject in the interest in asking Jin to get and icepack for Darren. The brunette caught a glimpse of Jin's reaction, though he recognized the grimace as a sympathetic one and gave a sheepish smile. "Y-yeah, an ice pack would be great..." Darren agreed hesitantly, though when the zorua insisted he wanted a few bites of his breakfast first, Darren nodded, raising his hands defensively. "Of course! Please eat." He chuckled. Technically he still had a bagel and fruit to eat too, so he turned to his new pokemon and smiled. "Are you two hungry? Theres some food if you want it." He offered. The mudkip and mantyke seemed to agree eagerly, so Darren stood-albiet with a bit of a pained grunt-and set them up with two more bowls of pokefood next to the rest of his team.
Flynn smiled at the two new water types. "Char! Charmeleon." ('Hey! Welcome to the team.') He greeted, but Pascal scoffed at the charmeleon's friendliness. "Chespin. Chespin ches?" ('Look at you bein' all chummy. Where was that friendly attitude when I joined the team, huh?') Flynn rolled his eyes. "Charmeleon char? Charmeleon, char? Char, charmeleon char." ('Are you seriously still going on about that? I said I'm sorry, okay? I'd just never seen a heart scale that didn't crumble away immediately when I'd held it.') He defended. "Pikachu." ('I'd say both of you should just shut it.') Bolt mumbled, and both Pascal and Flynn turned to the electric type with fire burning in their eyes. "Charmeleon!" ('You stay out of this!')"Chespin!" ('You stay out of this!') They said in unison, then shot a glare at each other and turned their noses up in opposite directions, crossing their stubborn arms.
Needless to say, the poor mantyke and mudkip weren't getting a very good impression of Darren's team. "Hey you guys, no fighting." Darren insisted, noticing the low rumblings of the beginnings of an uproar between his dysfunctional teammates. If a fight broke out here, it wouldn't be good. Frankly though, he should have expected it from Flynn and Pascal. "Are you done eating?" He asked, looking over their bowls. It seemed they were empty, and the three older team members voiced their confirmation, so Darren returned them in favor of letting out Morpho, Mei, and Flapjack, refilling the three empty bowls so that they could eat too. Morpho was rather surprised by all the new pokemon though, and fluttered closer to Darren, trembling a bit. Darren chuckled and gave the butterfree a comforting pat on the head. "Hey there, no need to worry~ These are our new teammates. That's Mei and Flapjack, and these guys are.... Huh. You know, I haven't gven them names yet." Darren realized. "Do you guys have names already?" Darren asked curiously, and the mudkip and mantyke shook their heads. "Hmm.... Okay, let me think..." Darren mused, scanning his mudkip first with his pokedex. "Wow! I had no idea that mudkips were so strong! You can actually crush rocks?""Muuudkip!" ('Thaaat's right!') The mudkip agreed proudly. "Heh, you're like a little hercules aren't you? Aha! That's it, I'll name you Hercules, how's that sound?" Hercules wiggled happily about his new name and brought his attention back to his food, satisfied. Next Darren scanned his mantyke, and from her pokedex entry, he felt compelled to take a look at the pattern on her back, which resembled a smiley face. Darren chuckled at that. "...Joy. I'll name you Joy." Darren smiled "Tyke!~" ('I love it!~') The baby water type seemed to agree, before turning her attention back to her own food. Darren smiled at Morpho. "See? They're nice, why don't you go on and introduce yourself?" Darren insisted. "F-free...." ('O-okay...') She whispered, fluttering timidly over to her bowl of food. "F-free.... Butterfree, free." ('U-um... Hi..... I'm Morpho, it's nice to meet you.') She greeted softly, fluttering down to the floor to pick up some of her food and nibble at it. Hercules and Joy gave Morpho a wordless greeting, but a friendly one nonetheless. "Oopa...?" ('Hm...?') Flapjack murmured curiously. "Aipom, pom aipom ooki!" ('Say miss, you've got some pretty neat-o colors there!') He chirped. "Free, butterfree...." ('Oh, thank you....') She nodded appreciatively. Though she was being a bit on the quiet side, she was starting to feel a lot more comfortable sitting and eating here with the little group. Mei however was giving the timid butterfree a sharp leering look and resumed eating her food, never saying a words and otherwise seemingly ignoring the bug.

Jin chuckled at the argument going on nearby as he ate some of his breakfast."Seems a silly thing to be upset over,"the dark type mused between bites, although admittedly, he only had part of the picture. Still, even the part he could hear... Didn't seem like much to be arguing over. On either end. But, as their reaction to Bolt showed, Jin doubted that the two starters would be that keen on having their opinion changed by anyone other than themselves, so instead of pushing things further, he got up and walked towards the door. He paused when he heard the gekkit call out after him, then chuckled a bit as he held the door open for her and walked out of the room.
Sable gave a light sigh as she watched Darren recall Flynn, Pascal, and Bolt. Those three certainly were a handful, and she didn't envy the male trainer for having to break up their fights whenever they broke out."How about you three?"she asked as she looked over to where Amethyst, Aroma, and the pidgey were at. Amethyst and the pidgey looked to have eaten their meals without a fuss, but Aroma was being rather pickey for about as long as she was able to. The spritzee eventually decided food was more important than taste and finished off her bowl, earning another sigh from her trainer."Sorry, Madame. It's gonna be a bit until we can get something more to your tastes,"the teen apologized, trying hard to keep any sarcasm from dripping into her voice. It was enough for the spritzee to accept the apology, and she let herself be recalled with the other two pokemon.
Once those pokemon were recalled, Sable let out her roselia, joltik, and eevee. Rose gave the group a wave before sitting down by a bowl and eating her meal. Frizz panicked and stole a couple of pellets from one of the bowls nearby, regardless of who was eating at it at the moment, before scurrying under the cot to eat them. Given her size, two pellets were plenty for her. Sable's eevee was also about ready to grab his bowl and eat by himself, but then he spotted one of the newcomers."Huh? Who brought in the babe?"he asked when he noticed Mei, then decided to move one of the bowls over towards hers a bit before eating from it.

Darren chuckled a bit as Jin commented on Flynn and Pascal's arguement. Darren had no idea what they were talking about, but he had a few educated guesses. "I think those two just rub each other the wrong way. It doesn't matter how small the problem is, they're willing to fight over it because it's just in their nature. At the very least, they work together when it counts, so I can't really complain." Darren suggested, though the miserable expression on his face stated otherwise. After that, Jin seemed to have eaten enough to feel comfortable to get up and go grab Darren an ice pack, though this time the gekkit tagged along with him, not wanting to be left behind again. As Darren checked bowls and started to swap out, so did Sable, though before she started swapping, Darren took a moment to look over the pokemon that were out. Two of her pokemon had been eating fine, but one, a yellow spritzee whom Sable called Madame, seemed to dislike the food she'd been given. Darren recalled Sable mentioning how there would be hell to pay if you called the spritzee "Aroma" instead of her full title "Madame Aroma", so it wasn't surprising she was the picky type. Once Sable returned the three, Darren gave Sable an inquisitive look. "What kind of food does she prefer?" He asked curiously. "Grandpa's daycare sometimes had pokemn coming in with strict feeding or food instructions, so he taught me how to prepare certain meals made specifically for pokemon.... Maybe I can make something that she'd like...?" He offered while serving his new pokemon some more food.
As soon as Sable let out her next group of pokemon though, things got a bit more chaotic as her Joltik skittered across the food bowls ands swiped a few pellets. Mei managed to protect her food by standing over it and giving a menacing growl at the bug when it drew near, sending it in the other direction to steal from Flapjack, Joy, and Morpho's bowls before hiding away nder the table. Joy was feeling pretty full anyways and so she didn't really mind. Morpho was still hungry, but she had plenty more pellets, not to mention she was too timid to raise an issue even if she wanted to. Flapjack wasn't really upset so much as curious as to what creature had stolen his food, and proceeded to crawl on all fours towards the table to see what it was. "Oopa?" He chittered curiously, poking his head under the table where Fritz lay.
Mei, after stealing some glares at the joltik for attempting to steal her food, relaxed and made to continue eating when her ears perked up at another male eevee's voice, asking who brought in the "babe", very clearly indicating her as he sidled up boldly next to her to eat. Her eyes narrowed with scrutiny at the other eevee. "Eevee, eevee eevee." ('Try anything, and I will personally dig your grave and put you in it.') She growled, but otherwise made no move to leave. She would have, but that would mean submitting her spot to him, that meant displaying weakness, and she was taught better than that. This was her spot, and if this eevee was going to annoy her, she would move him.

While explaining things to Darren, Sable was too distracted to notice the ruckus that the little joltik had caused. First was that scary eevee growling at her, and then all those other pokemon in the room, and it was too much for the little bug to take! So, the small electric tick had swiped the pair of pellets from the only one she seemed to be able to before hiding under the cot to eat in peace. Even that seemed to be denied to her, though, as one of the pokemon from the other set of bowls poked its purple and tan head down to see her."I... I'm sorry..."the tiny bug quietly squeaked as she huddled down close to the floor and hid behind her swiped pellets."I-I just wanted something to eat... Please don't hurt me..."Behind the small amount of food, the little electric bug was trembling and seemed about ready to scurry away again at the slightest movement.
Sable's eevee wasn't deterred by Mei's attitude. If anything, it actually made him grin."Feisty, huh? Don't get to see that often with the pokemon those two attract,"the normal type commented as he shifted his bowl and himself a bit closer. Sure, he was a tiny bit concerned about a fight breaking out, but for all the talk the other eevee had, he didn't see anything that indicated she could back it up. At least, not to the extent that he could."I mean, yeah, okay, there are some scrappers... But I think you're the only girl either of these two have with that kind of attitude. It's rather refreshing, ya know?"Poor guy might as well have dug his own hole for all the good he was doing, but couldn't blame a puffball for trying.

Pampered types like her usually won't eat something that looks commonplace or unappetizing. If you prepared something like a basculin fillet and glazed it with something sweet, cut it up into nice looking slices and then decorated the plate with a soy sauce over the top with a sort of zig-zag pattern and parsley garnish.... It would be a cheap meal, possibly one that she will eat without a fuss. If her taste or preference of sweets or pastries is the issue, then.... Well, have you tried making a pokepuff that isn't a pastry? I've made savory pokepuffs before using carrots and tomato berries. Still taste just as good but much less fattening and sugary." He suggested. "I would, of course be happy to show you how to prepare any of this if it works." He chuckled.

Mei made a noise of annoyance as her warnings only seemed to encourage the eevee next to her, though she couldn't deny that he had a point about the two trainers. They certainly didn't seem to be the aggressive or bold types. Frankly, she doubted she would have been stuck with her current trainer if he hadn't stolen her from that stupid sneaky hex maniac. The first chance she got, she was leaving him and returning to her family, or at least going off on her own for some serious training. "Vee, eevee, eevee ve, eev, eevee eevee, eevee." ('Good to know, but you see, it would be really refreshing for me, personally, if you could go learn a thing or two about personal space, because you're invading mine.') She pushed his bowl away with a paw and turned slightly so that her back was mostly to him, but she could still see him out of the corner of her eye. She knew better than to completely turn her back on a potential opponent.

Boo, yeah I'm gonna have to do that soon too. Being a college english teacher's aide is nice and all and I help a lot of people with their essays but unfortunately it doesn't pay = w=;;; I've been focusing on getting good grades though and taking 15 units every quarter so I haven't really had time for a job that wouldn't kill my GPA, so I've been planning to just get my associates degree in communications and then work full time for a few years to save up some money and figure out my next step as far as continual college goes...
Lol that might be true but considering she's been trapped and unable to train to her full potential for a while now she wouldn't fully accept his power advantage until she felt she'd been able to fight at her best, meaning after training and evolving and training some more. I, uh..."Sable grimaced a bit and looked down at the few bites that were left in her bowl of oatmeal."I'm just not always good about making things look good, and it seems just about anything I try to bake turns out burnt,"she admitted, then chuckled bitterly as she shook her head."That must sound like a bad joke to you... I mean, I can cook a lot of things, some more out of place than others. Heck, I can make a nice vinaigrette from scratch, but for some reason I can't so much as bake a muffin without it turning hard as a rock or black as pitch."The teen chuckled some more, but it still had a bitter sound to it. Still, she was glad that Darren was offering to help."But if you think it'll help, I'll give it another shot. Hopefully I'll do better learning this time."She gave the teen a light smile as she finished off her oatmeal.
The tiny joltik shuddered as she warily watched the aipom that was chattering at her. She squeaked and backed up when Flapjack suddenly dropped down from the table, but seemed reluctant to move too far from the pellets she had grabbed. Besides, it seemed the aipom mostly wanted to talk, so maybe she was safe after all."It's... It's not that bad... For me..."she replied as she managed to scuttle back over to her pellets."It's better than risking becoming someone's snack... Or getting stepped on..."The small electric bug still sounded uncertain, but she was at least getting comfortable enough to take a bite out of one of the pellets.
Jin and the gekkit returned with one of those wrap-around ice packs just in time to see Sable's eevee strike out with his flirting attempt. Or, at least, he could assume that much considering his food bowl got pushed away by the female eevee."Nice try, little guy,"Jin commented as he passed by the normal type, then handed the ice pack to Darren."There ya go,"he said cheerfully, then pursed his lips as he took on a more concerned expression."Need any help getting it placed?"It was an honest question, given that it probably hurt a lot for Darren to move around.

Sadly, I've only played the demo. :c Although, I have to say that Sans is how I found out about Undertale in the first place. XD At least, his boss fight music is. K-kinda helps that it's, you know, a reboot of one of my favorite songs from Homestuck... *pokes fingers together sheepishly* Friend was gonna play Undertale's version of Megalovania on piano for his final, and I recognized it a few bars in. He asked if I was familiar with the game, I told him no and showed him the version I was familiar with, and then he brought up a video of the boss fight against Sans. Things kinda snowballed from there. XD Led to me spoiling myself rather badly with some wiki walks... And now I know for sure I wouldn't be able to do a genocide run of the game. I wouldn't be able to stand Sans being pissed at me. DX I will say, though, from what I've read, the story seems amazing, but I'm not too sure I'll be thrilled with the gameplay. No offense to it, I'm just not one for bullet-dodging games. Hard for me to squeeze through the gaps and all that.
Fun note: I actually looked up how to make a vinaigrette from scratch. Then looked up how to make the vinegar. And then looked up how to make wine... The only hard part is the waiting... Aside from that, it's actually pretty easy if you're willing to wait a few months for it. XD

Darren was a bit too engrossed in his offerings of advice to really notice Sable's reluctant reactions. At least not till the very end. Sable at least offered some helpful information when she mentioned that the spritzee's rejection was probably due to unappealing aesthetics since she failed to really make anything look good. Darren gave her a sympathetic smile, chuckling when she assumed that this all probably sounded like a bad joke. "Eh... Not as much as you think. I ha my fair share of blackened baked goods too when I started learning how to cook. Really I think it's a matter of practice and a good teacher." He offered brightly, nodding in agreement as Sable insisted that she was willing to try at least. "If worse comes to worse, you can just put me in charge of her meals." He laughed. "Wouldn't want you to live with bandaged hands after all. It may not end up being a permanent solution but..." He scratched his head with a sheepish smile. Right, who knew how long they would actually be traveling together? If they had to separate, Sable would have to figure something else out, or at least stick with poffins until they reunited. Darren finished off his bagel and started in on his berries as Jin walked in with his ice pack. Brightening considerably, Darren swallowed his bite to thank Jin, though before Darren could take the ice pack and probably jerk his back in the worst possible direction, Jin thought better for the both of them and offered to help get it placed, which made Darren pause and relax with a tired smile. "A-ah... Actually yes, that's probably a better idea. Thanks Jin." He admitted with a chuckle.
Flapjack felt a bit bad for scaring the little bug, but he couldn't help constantly moving, it was a habit of his, just being unable to sit still. Bouncing on his tail, or standing on his hands, it all made him happy. Thankfully the joltik didn't get so scared that she ran off again, and soon relaxed before moving back to her pellet pile, explaining that she didn't think eating alone was that bad, considering the alternatives. "Pom... Aipom pom. Pom aipom?" ('Hmm... Yeah I guess you're right. It must be kind of tough being so small huh?') He thought aloud with a frown. "Pom, aipom? Aipom oki!" ('Hey, what's your name? I'm Flapjack!') He carefully extended his hand to shake with one of her.... Er... Legs. Reaching underneath the table to do so but only coming 50% of the way. Clearly he was undeterred and determined to make a new friend.
Darren glanced over his pokemon, checking on food levels since it was about time to make an exchange. Morpho had finished, as had Hercules and Joy, so he returned them all. Mei, now that Sable's eevee wasn't bothering her much more, was finally making some headway on her food, but Flapjack was ignoring his and seemed much more interested in someting under the table. "Flapjack? Aren't you hungry?" He asked curiously. The purple monkey glanced over at Darren as he was called. "Oki!" He nodded. He was certainly hungry, but he had more important matters to attend to. After that he would finish his meal. Darren shrugged and decided it wouldn't hurt to leave him out a bit longer. Haaa trust me, if I had the choice I wouldn't be doing 15 units, but I have to or my parents won't pay for the classes. They also won't pay if I get grades lower than a B. ; w; It's stressful, or at least it was when I was taking all those science and math courses (which I sucked at) but now changing my major to something I'm actually good at made getting all As a breeze. I mean I still had to work and study hard but at least it got me results that I wanted and I feel like I actually was able to learn the material.

I might be able to afford it next year, but I'm not apt to be able to play it until then. And, honestly, based on the demo, it's not really gonna change how I play through. I'd either end up with a pacifist or neutral playthrough first time through since I'd rather spare stuff than keep killing things anyway, and I'd try for the true pacifist playthrough the next time through. Plus, I wouldn't have the patience for hunting everything down, so at least I wouldn't be doing the genocide playthrough by accident. Also, thing I found on Newgrounds. It's short, but I thought you'd get a kick out of it.
And nope, still not gonna. Already saw the fight with Sans, that was my introduction to the game itself. I'd never be able to last long enough to beat him. XD

Darren felt a bit bad upon realizing the implications of his words. "N-not that I'm looking to separate any time soon! It's just that.... Well... I'm just taking into account the probability of our lives intervening at some point and..." He fiddled with his fingers nervously. "I mean, but if you wanted me to leave you alone I would understand too, heh. I do realize I can be a bit er..." Darren shrank back in his chair a bit. "Sorry, this is.... Unnecessary isn't it..." He chuckled, staring down intently at his lap. He relaxed and perked up a bit however when Sable suggested that she might be able to do better with a different teacher. "R-right! Well they do say that a good teacher makes all the difference, so...." He grinned sheepishly. "Not that I'm really certain I would be an effective teacher but... Well I would like to be, hopefully. I suppose that cooking tips would be useful knowledge for a pokemon professor as well." Darren said thoughtfully. Jin then soon made his reappearance with Darren's icepack, fixing it onto Darren's chair for him. "Perfect, thank you Jin~" He smiled appreciatively at the illusion before finishing the rest of his fruit off. Flapjack grinned as Frizz introduced herself and managed to at least touch his paw before scurrying back. It was progress at least. "Pom aipom~" ('Nice to meet you too Frizz~') With that, he tumbled back to his food bowl to finish eating, since Darren had been bugging him about it. Not to mention Frizz probably would feel a bit better if he was left alone for now. After sitting with the ice pack for a while and continuing to talk with Sable, Darren stood slowly to test his bruises. They still ached, but the pain had diminished considerably, and this allowed him to move around more freely without worrying about Sable's growing concern for him. With his mobility restored, Darren made the most of it, switching out the larger and more dangerous pokemon in his possession one at a time to eat, Flynn out by his side for extra protection. Once all of his pokemon had finished eating, Darren returned them and settled in on his ice pack again, but this time offering up a board game to play between Jin, himself, and Sable to further occupy their time. It seemed the best option, considering his and Sable's current physical conditions, and thankfully the center seemed to have a large supply of different games such that, if they grew bored of one, they could swap it for another. Darren unfortunately couldn't seem to win a game to save his life, perhaps because he'd already spent his gaming luck when it actually was a matter of life or death, but mainly because he was stalling, and nervously continued to focus more of his attention peering out of the window as the sun progressively sank lower and lower. He still hadn't really had the chance to give Sable that feather. Why it was that he had no issue asking for it, and yet the thought of offering it to her made him feel so nervous? Well, he supposed part of the reason was Jin's presence would likely provoke some teasing, both on himself and Sable. The thought alone made him feel rather embarrassed, but perhaps he was overthinking things...? Darren looked over the hand of cards he currently held from their latest bout of games, and with a yawn, set his cards down by the rest of the deck. "Ah, sorry, it's getting late, I think I'm going to head off to bed...." He explained tiredly to Sable. He stood, though hesitating he fingered his pocketwatch. "Y-you er... I hope.... You d...don't... E-erm..." This was it, now or never. It was already night time and if he didn't give it to her now, he was likely just going to fall asleep there in her room again.... He stood, a vicegrip on his watch now, eyes desperately searching for something to look at that wasn't Sable. "I have... I would... L-like t-to--" Darren suddenly grabbed his ice pack and backed away towards the door. "W-wish you good night and very pleasant dreams!" He sputtered lamely, fleeing out the door and down the hall to his own room, bolting inside and closing the door quickly behind him. He turned, pressing his back against the door and panting heavily from the sprint he'd just made for his room. Taking a moment to process what he'd just done, Darren groaned in aggravation and slunk down to a sitting position, coving his beat red face. "Arceus, I'm an idiot....!" His muffled lament rang out quietly through his hands before he dropped them to his sides to breathe properly. This was such a simple task and yet his nerves couldn't take it. He knew very well that he was making this into a much bigger deal than it ever needed to be, but he couldn't help it. The implications, the feelings behind it, it made this a lot more embarrassing and unnerving than Darren's poor heart could take. "Well, there's always tomorrow..." Darren mumbled to himself. Yes, he could put it off till tomorrow, but then what? By then would he actually be able to go through with it? Darren stood and began to pace the floor. "No... Tomorrow won't be any different if I don't have any sort of plan. At the very least I should figure out what I want to say..." He thought aloud. Well, what did he want to say anyways? How could he best introduce this gift...? "Hey Sable.... Uh.... Fancy meeting you here! ....In your room... At the... Pokemon center that we both walked to together.... Right. Real coincidence." Darren face-palmed and rubbed his forehead. It was fine though, Sable wasn't around, no one was, so anything he said now wouldn't hurt him. "Sable! Good news! Say goodbye to those nightmares because I got you this feather and...... I sound like a magikarp salesman suddenly. Ugh..." Darren grimaced and pinched his nose, turning on a heel and pacing in the other direction. This was what practicing was for, right? "Maybe just play it cool? Y-yes. For instance..... I could just go over and say.... Oh Sable, I was walking around the other night and... I found this feather, and I thought of you because... It's pretty and... You're pretty and...." Darren's cheeks bloomed a bright pink once again. "And I'm an idiot, so please help me by just taking this feather, and doing me the courtesy of not saying anything while I go lock myself in a closet for a few days out of shame." He chuckled, shaking his head. Turning around, Darren started again. "You know I kind of had this feather and...." Darren stopped short, his expression dropping to one that was rather unamused with himself. "Decided to give it to you now when I really should have given it to you hours ago...." He grumbled under his breath. With a sigh, he pulled out his pocketwatch and pressed the button on the side to pop open the lid, revealing the shimmering lunar wing inside. It glowed softly in the darkness of his room, and Darren stared at it softly for a moment. "There.... Really isn't a good way to do this, so I'm just going to.... Ask you to take this, and promise to keep it with you so I don't have to worry about you having nightmares anymore, okay....?" He gave a pained smile. If only it were that easy. "...I would uh... Be honored if you would accept this feather and..." Darren cut himself off with a snort. "M-marry me hahaa.... Haaa I'm going to get punched for that...." He giggled miserably. Maybe he could just walk back in there and stay with her for the night again? If he was just always with her, he wouldn't have to actually give her the feather, and she could still benefit from it. "....Sable, would you be upset if I maybe.... S-stayed with... Ha... No..." He shook his head. He needed to give it to her, he wasn't going to make any more stupid excuses. "Every time I open my mouth I tend to ruin everything so... I'm just going to give this to you and not say another word..... E-except that it cures nightmares and.... Yeah, now I won't say anything more.... Starting right now...." He chuckled, shaking his head again. Now he just wasn't taking this seriously. He needed to at least try to focus. "....I got you this, it should help with your nightmares, so... Don't worry about trying to fall asleep, okay?" Darren blinked. That... Actually sounded pretty good! "....Y-yeah.... I think that's probably the best way to put it." He smiled a bit to himself, unable to help but feel a tiny bit of pride. Now if he could actually remember to say that without stumbling over each word, that would be great. Maybe there was a pen and paper somewhere around here....

Slowly, the two trainers worked through their pokemon, making sure everyone got a good meal. Once the last of the team members were fed and tucked away, though, the big question became what the trio should do next. That answer ended up being board and card games, and the pokemon center thankfully had a variety of options for the trainers and zorua. It started out innocently enough, but between Jin's suspicious luck and Sable's old practice with dice and cards, poor Darren ended up getting the short end of the stick in every game. The worst of it had to be the game of Monopoly due to Sable getting the corner around GO fairly early while Jin picked up all the railroads almost as fast. Darren never had a chance with that game.
All good things had to come to an end, sadly, and as the sun sank below the horizon, Darren set his hand aside and commented on how late it was getting."Yeah, that'd probably be a good idea. No reason to wear ourselves out more than we have to,"Sable agreed as she set aside her own hand."Besides, the rest should help us recover a bit faster, or at least make us feel better,"the teen added while her disguised zorua groaned and set aside his cards as well.
When Darren started stuttering, Sable's eyes narrowed a bit as she watched him. He was trying to say something, but whatever it was it didn't seem to want to come out."Hey... You alright?"she asked when he suddenly started acting like a trapped rattata looking for a way to sprint back to its hole. He seemed to find that escape route, too, as he grabbed the ice pack and retreated to the door."Darren?"The teen's concern didn't seem to have much effect as Darren timidly wished the female trainer a nice night and fled the room.
Jin smirked a bit during Darren's attempt at saying whatever it was that he wanted to but at least managed to keep from actually chuckling until after Darren was out and the door swung mostly shut. That chuckle lasted about a second before dying away rather quickly due to noticing the rather hurt look that his trainer had. Silence briefly fell over the room before Jin stood up."...I'll... Uh... I'll go talk to him..."the dark type offered weakly, waiting until Sable nodded before leaving the room to go find Darren.
Even though he hadn't seen which way Darren went, the dark type did know which direction the visitor bedrooms were, so it wasn't a problem finding which hall Darren went down. Jin walked down the hall for a while, then paused when he heard Darren's voice coming from one of the rooms. It was muffled and he couldn't really make out any of the words from where he was, but the dark type could definitely hear his buddy inside one of the rooms. The disguised zorua grimaced for a few moments, then silently let out a sigh through his nostrils before quietly sneaking up to the door of the room Darren was using. Curiosity had gotten the better of the dark type, and for a few moments the illusion pokemon was listening at the door, keeping his head a hand's width from the door itself so that he had a chance to adjust himself if the door suddenly opened.
After waiting a while, Jin heard more than just words behind the door. Darren started moving, and the disguised zorua was practically trembling as he tried to ignore his impulses. Granted, following the impulse hitting him rather hard right then was more or less what he came to do anyway, so he was fighting a losing battle in trying not to go to the lengths he was used to. It didn't take long for instinct compounded by learned behavior to win out, and Jin got to work with his illusions. Thankfully, he could easily enough recall how the rooms generally looked, at least what was around the doorway, so the first illusion was easy enough even though he couldn't actually see what he was influencing. Nothing he considered fancy, simply keeping the area of the door itself and a little under a foot beyond from looking any different than it did now. The next step was another illusion, this one influencing sound. More accurately, preventing sound from spreading past the area that the visual illusion was covering. Child's play from the zorua's point of view.
With the first part of his entry set up, Jin cautiously turned the handle of the door and pushed it forward just enough that it wouldn't simply latch shut again. With the two illusions in place, plus Darren's own distraction of going over his possible ideas of giving something to Sable, it wasn't likely he would realize that his door was now slightly ajar. That left Jin free to drop his human illusion and take on his more compact appearance of a fluffy little kit. Carefully, Jin nosed open the door a bit more so that he could get a better look into the room. That let him readjust the "everything is as it should be" visual illusion so that it'd be tailored to the room. Unfortunately, that led to a rather tricky portion. While it would keep Darren from noticing the door being slightly open, it wouldn't prevent the teen from noticing him if he wasn't careful, but between being patient, good timing, and a few silence illusions on himself and the door, Jin was able to dash past and duck under the bed after Darren passed by and used a low burst of extrasensory power to shut the door just before the teen turned around.
With the stealth done, Jin could drop his illusions and relax under the bed while listening to Darren try again and again at his remaining few attempts at figuring out how to give Sable some sort of feather. He winced as he heard the version where the teen claimed he'd be honored and silently bobbed his head in agreement with Darren's assessment. Part of him found the teen's attempts at figuring out a way to offer a gift rather humorous, but more than that he just felt sorry for Darren. Here the guy was, wanting to do something nice for his friend, and he couldn't even find the words to say what he was wanting to do. On top of that, even if she probably wouldn't react as badly as Darren seemed to think, by now the zorua knew that his trainer didn't like being seen as vulnerable and, despite Darren's intentions, accepting his gift would mean acknowledging yet another bit of what she'd probably see as weakness. No wonder the poor guy was nervous.
It was only when Darren started hunting for a pen and some paper that Jin sneaked back out from under the bed. He waited until he was fairly certain that the teen was distracted before helping him with his search, quietly pulling open a drawer on the nightstand and looking around inside. Sure enough, someone had left a pen inside, and after regaining his usual disguise, Jin grabbed it and slid the drawer back shut. He then crept behind Darren and held the pen out to where the teen would see it but wouldn't necessarily spot his hand unless he actually turned to look. Which... It was pretty likely that he would, so he decided to have a bit of fun with it."Yeah, she'd probably respond best to that last one,"he cheerfully told the teen with a grin.
While Jin was busy being the sneaky zorua he is, Sable was feeling rather cruddy as she fiddled with the controls for her bed so that she could lay down. By now, the group had gotten it to where she could mess with it herself, and at the moment she wasn't really feeling like waiting to see if Jin was coming back. From her point of view, Darren was making it pretty clear that, despite what his claims to the contrary, he wasn't keen on staying around her longer than he felt he aught to. That thought hurt for Sable to think about, and at the moment, she really didn't want to think about it. So, she rolled over onto her side so that she was facing away from the door and tucked her head under her pillow while trying to rest. Block out sight and sound in a futile attempt to block out the thought, that sort of thing.

I've already got most of the story down, so I'd mostly be hunting for a playthrough. And glad you enjoyed it. I wish it was a bit longer, but honestly, it was the right length to get down the frustration that will be present for facing Sans.
