Wyllig and Blue Luteth

They set their net up once Wyllig had caught her breath, Luteth diligently guarding her from further harm. Neither of them expected the school of silverfish that basically caught themselves.

    Hm. Fortuitous.

Do you even know what that means?

Luteth chuckled like a slightly condescending father. Of course I do, dearest. Do you?

    You totally don't.

Let's just... get these to the stockpile.

Ha! I told you so. You don't, do you!

This time the dragon didn't answer, he just took one side of the net in his teeth and started dragging it to shore, his eyes whirling purplish-blue.

Quote:
11-20: You did great! Either you took some training in the Seacraft or you're just a natural! Regardless, you manage to haul in a net full of nothing but delicious silverfish. The delicacy will make some good eating! Yum, yum yum. +10 points

Rolling for Nuamia

Quote:
41-50: As you begin to reel in the net or line, you are overpowered by a strong wave, and your catch is set free. Shardit! That had been a good haul, too! Nonriders or riders without XP points, take -5 points.

Nuamia pulled at the net but the waves were very strong. She pulled hard on the net only to loose her grip and the whole catch. She pulled in the now empty and lighter net then plopped her hands on her hips. This was terrible. She was cold, wet, and sore from all the fishing and now she had nothing to show for it.

1-10. You don't know exactly what happened, but somehow you have wound up tangled up in a fishing net, out in the middle of the ocean. You thrash around and try hard to free yourself, but all you wind up doing is breathing in the salt-water. Thankfully, you're fished out by your fellows, untangled from the net, and dragged back to shore. You fall ill. Perhaps it was drinking too much saltwater; perhaps it was getting wrapped up in netting and wire, but you find yourself coming down with the sniffles, and then it turns into a full-blown cold. You wind up needing to be a few days in the infirmary, and aren't going to be able to participate for the next next sevenday. [-20 points, and character loses the next sevenday's roll (so skip a week)]!

To Z'haq's complete and utter embarrassment, he somehow ended up getting tangled in his net while fishing out at sea with a number of his wingmates. Luckily they were able to fish him out of the water before he drowned, but he did manage to ingest (and inhale) a fair amount of seawater. Yum yum.

The Wingleader sat out the rest of the day; the next day he felt a little sniffly and achy when he woke up, and despite Resa's tender ministrations he managed to come down with a nasty cold, which kept him out of commission for a solid sevenday.

61-70: You're fishing with a pole today, standing on the small floating dock.
You see the bobber go under, and pull up hard. Sure enough, there's a whopper at the end of the line. It's a fight, and you can tell you've snagged the largest packtail you've ever seen. Unfortunately you yank too hard and the line snaps. Not only is your pole now useless, but the big one gets away.
Worse, your fishing luck the rest of the sevenday seems to follow suit... You wind up with a whole lot of nothin'. -10 points

Sorsha decided she'd fish off the dock instead of off her gold Leoth's back. Using a pole, she cast her line, and after a few minutes felt a tug. And another! Whatever it was, it was big! She fought with the thrashing fish on the other end of the line (a glimpse from beneath the surface of the water suggested it was an absolutely enormous packtail), with Leoth bugling encouragement to her.

Unfortunately, just as she felt she was about to outlast the fish and bring it in, the fishing line snapped. Sorsha yelped in surprise as she stumbled backward and landed on her butt on the dock. She let out a frustrated sigh -- not only had the catch of the day gotten away, her fishing pole was now useless. If this was how the rest of the sevenday was going to go, she'd end up with nothing.

Brenley

He found himself preferring the net over time and Brenley was beginning to understand why. This dock was distressingly wobbly, and even when he did get something on his line, it was just one thing. The candidate sighed, moving to take in his line and go take a break when the pole was practically pulled from his hands.

He fought with his catch, trying to center himself so he wouldn't slip, but in the end he fought a little too hard. Bren sat on the edge of the dock with a sigh, vowing to grab the net next time, even if it meant waking a little earlier.

A good mix of some yellowfin and redstripes! Yum, yum, yum!

Sorentia was anxious about getting this right. So when she actually managed to get a little bit of catch she was so excited. she brought in the yellowfin and redstripes and did a little dance when they were finally not in danger of falling back into the sea.

Character: Astriana and Blue Moratath

Astriana had returned to the ocean, hoping this seven day would prove to be better for them. She could see the water was full of life, least she had been hearing. She took a new net and put it into the water, though she had to growl a little as it tangled some to begin with. However, after a few tries, the blonde finally seemed to be getting more confident with it. She waited and soon pulled the net in. A quiet smile came to her lips, seeing a flatfish that was pregnant.

Well, judging from your thoughts, that will be quite useful for the kitchen staff. Definitely better than before, hmm?Moratath thought to his rider.

Yes, this is going to be a big help for the Weyr. Who knows, they may use the eggs for trading with the lord holders, she mused.

Quote:
39) 31-40: Surely you have a knack for this, for the water is teaming with sea life. Roll a D4 to find out how plentiful your catch is!
3. You fish with a net, and while there were a few tangles early on, you find your stride. Within your haul you find a rare but very meaty and very pregnant flatfish. This thing is ugly but its meat is known to be smoked--and its eggs are a true treat even Lord Holders pay a pretty penny for. Casgar and the kitchenfolk will be more than pleased! +15 points

If you are a rider, take your two highest stats. Whatever the total is, add those to the points you earn! (i.e. 8 + 2 = 10... so you get an extra 10 points to whatever you rolled above!) (so 3 + 3=6 extra points)

Character: Sablie

Sablie was back at the beach, a net in hand, ready to get to work on fishing once more. However, she saw movement and turned to see all the spiderclaws. Well, that surely would be good to have, so she got to work gathering as many as she could. Eventually, she had quite a haul and was grinning brightly.

"This should be a lot of help for the kitchen staff. I better get it to them,"she smiled, before heading off.

Quote:
58 ) 51-60: As you're preparing to run your net, you discover that the beach is swarming with spiderclaws. You decide the fish can wait, and instead, start gathering the shelled creatures. That's good eatin'! You are successful and able to bring back quite the haul! +15 points
