Darren chuckled a bit as Jin questioned his lack of knowledge on the ash as well as where he'd gotten it from. "Don't worry, it's Sable's, she asked me to give you some to help you, so I knew it would work, I just didn't quite know all the er... Details, I just took Sable's word for it." Darren assured him. With that he left the zorua to rest up and eat his berries while Darren left to inspect his injuries and clean up. A few minutes later, Darren quietly slipped in through Sable's door, only to find that she was already awake.
Darren gave a light knock on the open door to alert Sable of his presence before entering fully. He smiled, seeing that she had found his pocket watch. "Morning sleepyhead...." Darren smiled, glancing around for Jin. It seemed that the zorua hadn't made it in yet, though perhaps he's eaten himself into a pecha berry food coma and fallen back asleep. Darren bit back a laugh at the idea and approached Sable. "Would you like some breakfast? I brought Jin some pecha berries, so I suppose it's only fair I get you something as well." Darren offered, giving a playful bow. "Ask and it shall be yours, I am at your service m'lady." He immediately regretted the gesture as his wounds reacted violently, but his pained expression was hidden by the bow and replaced with the same amused smile he had come down with by the time he straightened back up. Jin was still puzzled about the ash, wondering now how his own trainer had gotten a hold of it and when she had it? Still, he was a bit more accepting of the idea of Darren getting it from Sable than of him just randomly having it, so he let it slide long enough for the teen to leave. Despite how he went after that first berry, Jin actually wanted to savor his treat, and he still wasn't sure just how restored he had been by that little pinch of ash. So, Jin nibbled at the pecha berries and rested for a while, at least until he got back a bit more of his strength.
When she heard a knock on her door, Sable looked away from the pocketwatch she was holding to see that Darren had shown up. Chuckling a bit as his comment, the teen flashed him a grin from where she lay."Heh, morning. I was wondering when you'd be back,"she replied, sounding cheerier and more stable compared to when she was last awake. Her chuckle turned more sheepish at Darren's butler act, although something seemed off to her. Did he stay bowing a bit too long, or was that her imagination? Darren seemed fine when he straightened up, though, so Sable didn't ask about it. Instead, she chuckled and handed Darren's pocketwatch over to him."I thought I told you I didn't want to bother you,"she gently chided, then let out a reluctant sigh."But if you're sure... Then maybe just some oatmeal and milk...?"
By now, Jin felt rested enough to try and find Sable's room. Darren had said it was just a couple of doors down, so he didn't expect too many problems.First thing's first...the dark type thought to himself, and he focused for a moment so that his illusion could materialize. Soon enough, the zorua was replaced with a dark-haired teen that grabbed the last pecha berry as he slid off the bed."Okay, time to find sis,"Jin said before taking a bite of the pecha berry and leaving the room.

It'd be interesting, that's for sure, given their personalities and occupations. Granted, I'm still ironing out the details on their personalities, but I've got the rough sketch down at least. Laid-back factory worker (mostly deliveries, but can cover for other positions if needed) for a father and strict financial adviser for the mother.

Darren chuckled sheepishly when Sable commented on how she was wondering when he'd be back. "Heh.... Believe me, I would have stayed, but I promised you I'd use some of the ash on Jin, so I figured I should use it on him before he healed on his own." Darren explained. No use in keeping Jin in pain longer than needed after all. "You sound a lot better today... That's... Great." Darren's expression said it all. A bit tired and distant, but smiling nonetheless, as if a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. To say he'd been worried sick would be an understatement. "Hey c'mon, I'm the one offering, so it's not a bother at all." He countered with a smile. "So, what do you want?" With his insistence Sable seemed to come around, asking for some oatmeal and milk. "Okay, and you like your oatmeal with butter, cinnamon, sugar, and apples right?" Darren confirmed just before heading out to retrieve her meal.
He nearly bumped into Jin on the way out, surprised to see the Zorua in his human form again. "Ah! Hey Jin~ She's awake. I'm gonna go grab her something to eat and then I'll be right back." He greeted cheerily, explaining the situation, then holding the door open for the Zorua to enter before heading to the cafeteria. She didn't like the idea of holding him up if he really needed to take care of something that important. Her lips pursed for a moment as the thought crossed her mind, and when Darren expressed his gratitude at her sounding stronger, she couldn't help but frown."And you sound like you need rest now,"she gently scolded, although honestly, part of her felt glad that Darren was so worried about her.

She once again blinked in surprise when the teen rattled off how she liked her oatmeal."Y-yeah, that's right,"she managed to reply before Darren went to fetch the meal. Sure, he saw her fix up the food and all that, but she didn't expect him to remember from seeing her doctor the oatmeal once. Not that she was complaining, it meant less explaining that she had to do, but it did feel a bit odd.
This time, Jin was aware of there being a door and stepped out of the way to avoid being hit by it."Hey, that's great~ I'll go and keep her company while you're busy~"Jin replied when Darren brought him up to speed, then lightly rapped twice on the open door with his knuckles before poking his head through the doorway."Hey, sis~ Sorry it took so long to get here~"he greeted with a large grin on his face, then entered the room and walked over to his chuckling trainer. He could see some thin cuts along her clothes and skin, but it seemed they were healing up rather nicely. The bruise along her neck worried him, but he didn't show it since he doubted it was self-inflicted."How ya feeling? Did you want to sit up a bit?"Jin started looking around at and under the bed to see if there was a control panel somewhere.
Sable couldn't help but chuckle at how full of energy Jin already seemed to be after his special treatment. She just felt so relieved to see that he was doing fine now, especially since she had no idea just how badly injured he had been. She just knew that Jin had been worse off than the rest of her team and also had to be kept in a recovery room."Yeah, probably a good idea if Darren's gonna be bringing me food. And I'm feeling okay, but I'm gonna wait a bit longer before trying to move too much on my own,"she replied, then giggled a bit as Jin bent over and hunted for the control panel. Apparently, the zorua had things other than maximizing the coverage of his illusion on his mind at the moment, since Jin's fluffy tail was sticking up and slowly wagging from side to side as he continued his search. It didn't last for long, though, as the dark type quickly found the panel and helped adjust Sable into a sitting position by moving the bed.
Truth be told, Jin had left his tail as it was on purpose, mostly because with how tense things had been, he felt he needed to do something to ease the tension. Smirking at the sound of his giggling trainer, he felt his mission had been accomplished for the moment and finished getting the bed adjusted. Once that was taken care of, Jin grabbed a chair and moved it next to the cot before hiding his tail among his outfit and sitting in the chair."In a little bit I was gonna check up on the rest of your team. And, of course, Sable wouldn't want to break it to Darren that they tried to kill her, so she'd just insist that they switch off on which parents to visit and just make sure to have a team to help guard her on the days she knows she's gonna be visiting Darren's foster parents. XD
Yeah, I figure it sounds pretty confusing at first. Both parents live in Pyrite, and the factory Sable's father works at is located within or around Pyrite. The company Sable's mom works as a financial adviser for is the company that owns that factory. The reason it still works is that the company (along with some factories/processing plants and a section of the mines within Pyrite) was started up several generations back on the mom's side of the family and is still owned by the family. It's still viable despite the mines being tapped as far as main resources go because they never relied on whatever the main ores being mined for were. They instead focused on processing and refining secondary substances still within the dirt and rocks brought up so that those resources could then be sold. An egg in each basket instead of all of them in one sort of idea. The actual ore was just a cherry on top for them. The person Sable's mom advises is Sable's second cousin once removed (I think that's right... Mother's father's brother's son... Bah, it's been too long since doing family tree stuff), who's the one that actually owns the company, since the poor guy doesn't have much of a head for that sort of thing and has had to hire on people to help with figuring how much to spend what on, what deals seem good or bad, and that sort of thing. He tries to keep that position within the family just to make sure he can be sure he's hiring someone invested in keeping the company afloat. They aren't exactly wealthy, though, since while there was a fortune in the generation or two where the mines, processing plants, and company started up, you figure that a handful of generations where the fortune gets split between two to three kids, it's gonna start wearing thin sooner or later. And now that I've written this down, I realize I meant processing plant, not factory, since that makes more sense with what the company is doing.
Actually, I had figured this provides a chunk of the conflict between Sable and her mom in that the background of her side of the family shapes what kind of job she wants Sable to have. Unfortunately, while Sable's willing enough to agree with part of what her mom wants, the order of priorities ultimately cause her to disagree. Sable's mom wants her daughter to have a nice, safe, and clean job and, if possible, for it to be within the company, while Sable would be more than willing to set aside most of her preferences and work somewhere within the company but has a hard time with the idea of keeping herself secure and safe while other people are doing more difficult work. That, plus usual teenage contrariness, has ended up with Sable deciding that since they can't come to a compromise anyway, she might as well work towards what she actually wants to do.
And now a bit of plotting. I'm thinking of using three NPC battle bump sets to have Sable have to deal with three Rockets trying to cause the group grief. I'm figuring it'll be a triple battle, but right now I'm debating on the levels. All three of the Rockets will have the same layout as far as their teams go (although their Pokemon will probably vary), so the question is whether it's each one having two level 24 pokemon each or each rocket having three level 16s each. If it's the 24s, Sable's gonna be sweating a lot since that's very close to the level cap she has to deal with so it's either use weaker pokemon or take a chance with higher level ones that might not fight efficiently (aka might fail obedience checks). With the 16s, the individual pokemon would be easier to handle, but that'll be nine of them in one large triple battle. Either way, Sable's gonna have her work cut out for her. XD

As Sable shared her conclusions Darren chuckled a bit, rather sheepishly at that. She had assumed he was taking care of his battle, a fair assumption, except that he had already beaten Brock. He thought he'd already mentioned it, but he couldn't actually recall of he did. Either way, Sable was unaware, and now he felt a bit bad about having the battle ahead of time so that she couldn't watch. Not that there was much to watch anyways.... Maybe Misty's battle would be more entertaining. He dodged the subject a bit by commenting on how she sounded so much better, though she commented that he sounded like he needed rest. "Nah, I'm fine. Really." Darren insisted, then pressed the topic of her breakfast. She expressed an interest in oatmeal, with milk this time instead of juice. She seemed rather surprised when he accurately recalled her preferance for oatmeal toppings, but Darren simply flashed her a smile and promised to be back with her breakfast in a few minutes.
The moment he made to step out though, he ran into Jin, though Darren was more than happy to see the illusion, as well as explain what he was planning to do. Jin seemed to approve at least, promising to keep Sable company in. The meantime. Darren nodded and continued towards the cafeterria to grab Sable's food and head back. He was pleased to come back to the two of them laughing, music to his ears. Of course, as soon as Darren entered, Jin moved to get up again, explaining to Darren that he was grabbing her team and gear from the other room. Darren nodded and turned his attention too Sable as Jin left, handing her over her breakfast and smiling as she thanked Jin for stopping by and then attempted to explain her breakfast choice. "Yeah well, let's just try to keep it down this time, alright?" Darren teased lightly, though he was also rather serious and a bit concerned. If she didn't actually hold any food in, that would pose as a serious problem.
He took a seat in the chair pulled up next to her bedside as she started to dig in to her meal, though she paused to ask what his plans were for the day, bringing up his battle with a rock once more. "Er... Well, in truth.... You. You're my plan for the day." He gave an innocent smile and hesitated. "I actually um... I beat Brock yesterday while you were still out cold. Frankly, if I stayed here to watch over you while you were still passed out, Id've gone mad... Battling was a bit more um... Productive..... Now that you're awake though I'm not as worried about... Y'know.... You never waking up and all....." He answered honestly, though he clearly wasn't very proud of his answer. There was no exaggeration when he mentioned going mad waiting around for her to wake up... "I'm sorry you couldn't see it, but really there wasn't very much, except Lapis of course. She performed beautifully. She's a full fledged florges now you know." Darren explained proudly, clearly very happy with her progress.

edit: yeah that's a tough decision. All things considered I'd use it as an oppertunity to train lower level Pokemon, but you have those kanto gyms for that, and you don't want to get them too high leveled, otherwise you'll have a hard time with the Unova ones lol xD I think it be interesting to try the two level 24 version.

She wasn't quite ready to try scarfing the oatmeal down, though, and instead decided to ask Darren what his plans were while she tried to mentally prepare herself for the bit of food she was going to try and take in. Upon hearing Darren's answer, though, Sable nearly dropped the spoon back in the bowl as her face flushed brightly."W-wha...? W-why would y-you...?"she stammered before taking a sip of the milk Darren brought her, both to settle the uneasiness building in her stomach and to cool and calm herself down.
When Darren explained himself, the red on Sable's face died away and she took on a sad, pained expression."...Darren..."Once again, it felt like someone was taking a bat to her heart and gut. Knowing that she had worried him so badly because she wasn't able to protect herself... It hurt and sickened Sable enough that she had to put down the spoon and milk for a moment."...Honestly... If I were in your position... I don't think I'd be able to stick around the whole time, either..."she hesitantly admitted, then lowered her gaze to the bowl of oatmeal in front of her."I mean... Of course I'd want to stay with them... I'd want to stay for however long it took them to wake back up... But there's no way I'd be able to handle sitting there, not when I knew there was nothing I could do to help them..."
For a few moments, both of the teens kept quiet. Then, Darren decided to change the topic to how his gym battle went. Not that there was much to tell, but at least it was a more cheerful topic than the last one. And it's great that Lapis evolved~"Sable replied, although she had to flip through her pokedex a moment to find out what the heck a florges was. Thankfully, Jin came into the room at that moment and set Sable's pack onto the floor next to the chair holding the stuff Darren had given her the evening before. Hot on his heels was the gekkit that he had been put in charge of keeping safe before the whole haunted house fiasco. Despite being rather put off by some aspects of the behavior of the person that helped her out, it seemed that she was still rather attached to the dark type."Hm, sounds like she had a bit of a growth spurt while we weren't looking,"Jin added as he came over, having just caught the tail end of the conversation and figuring they were talking about Darren's flabebe."I mean, last I saw she was still a little flabebe, and it hasn't been that long since Tanabata,"he explained, then chuckled a bit as he went over to Sable's bed.
Sable also chuckled a bit, but it turned into a giggle as she heard something yipping and felt the blanket on the bed get tugged to the side occasionally. She couldn't see it, but the gekkit was trying in vain to jump onto the bed and yipping as she kept failing."Aww, does Jin's little friend want to visit?"she cooed, with both her and Jin laughing as the gekkit's yipping increased in pitch due to Sable hitting the nail on the head."Alright, just wait a moment. I'll help you up,"Jin knelt down briefly before coming back up with the bamboo-wearing fairy fox in his arms. He then gently set the gekkit down upon an empty spot on Sable's cot so that the gekkit and Sable could get used to one another before any attempts at cuddling occurred.

Yeah, but I'll admit, I've only managed to solidify that much of their actual positions within the past half year or so. I tend to have a hard time figuring this sort of stuff out when I first make a character, and I end up having to fill in most of the stuff from rough outlines while I go along and hope that I at least get this stuff figured out long enough before it actually becomes important that people don't try to bash me for it.
Eheheh, I can't say I blame you. It was late, plus I hit you pretty hard with an info-dump right there. XD And as far as training goes, that'd be part of why I'd want it the lower level, but it'd be nice to see Sable squirm for a bit as she's dealing with some tough pokemon. XD How about you? Darren nodded in understanding as Sable connected her food choices with avoiding stomach distress. "Right. That's smart." He said agreeably, though when she asked his plans, he was frank with her, explaining that really, she was his plan for the day. This seemed to completely catch the desert trainer off guard, as she nearly dropped her spoon with a flushed face. Darren couldn't help himself, he giggled at her reaction, good naturedly of course. He wasn't making fun of her with his laughter, he was just genuinely happy with her surprise, finding it adorable. Even more so when she tried and failed to articulate that surprise, eventually resorting to drinking her milk to hide her flustered expression. "Is it really that hard to believe?" Darren continued to tease lightheartedly. "I like traveling with you Sable, I'm not just going to leave you behind when you've been hurt." He said honestly, the laughter still apparent in his tone. Though, he felt a bit bad when he had to explain that he'd already battled Brock. He knew she had wanted to watch, and he would have happily hung around until she was able to do just that, but... He was sure it would have broken him mentally if she hadn't recovered as quickly as she did. Waiting around, day after day, hoping that she might wake up.... He'd been there before, it wasn't exactly something he was hoping to do again. His expression grew somber and distant as he explained, and it seemed to effect Sable's mood as well, which was not something he'd intended. He hadn't wanted to make her feel guilty, and felt a bit bad about that. He listened, nodding appreciatively as she at least validated his feelings on the matter. That was certainly how he felt, Sable had hit the nail on the head. He was quiet for a moment, searching for something to say. He didn't want the atmosphere to continue down this dreary path, so he forced himself to perk back up. "Well hey, it's fine, I mean, you're up now, so there's no need to dwell on any of that right?" He offered with a smile, explaining his battle for her, and mentioning how Flora had evolved. Sable seemed fine with seeing his battle with Misty instead, and was eager to look up a florges in her pokedex, commenting that the fairy had certainly grown into a lovely pokemon now. "Heh, yeah... She's a beauty. If you watch my battle with Misty, I think I'm going to use her too, so you could get to see both." Darren suggested with a smile.
Soon enough, Jin cam back as promised, commenting on Lapis' growth spurt, since it seemed to have occurred rather quickly. After all, Darren had just gotten her at the Tanabata, which wasn't too long ago. "That's true, but we have trained a lot since then... I mean, she helped me a lot in that haunted house, and fighting Brock's pokemon probably helped her too. I also had a shiny stone on me to evolve her again. Honestly, I'm a little afraid we might be taking it too fast, but..." Darren chuckled sheepishly. "Grandpap always said I had a way with pokemon. A nurturing touch, he called it. Heh... I'm not sure if I believe him or not, but... Then again I'm also just too modest to try and investigate. I just want to raise my pokemon properly with the love and care they deserve, I don't really mind how fast or slow the process goes in comparison to others." He shrugged. His attention turned to the gekkit that Jin had been harboring as it tried in vain to jump up onto Sable's bed. Darren chuckled sympathetically, and would have helped the poor little creature if Jin hadn't gotten to it first. "Sure is a cute little pokemon... I don't think I've seen anything quite like it... What is it?" Darren inquired curiously. He'd been interested in the gekkit ever since he'd seen it with Jin, but up until now there hadn't really been an appropriate time to ask.

As much as she tried to hide it, Sable's blush continued to darken as Darren giggled at her reaction. She didn't answer Darren's question, and instead took another sip of milk to try and calm herself down. When the teen insisted he wasn't going to be ditching her even though he had to get some battling done to keep from going crazy, Sable started to calm down and the red faded away. The desert trainer couldn't help but admit that she would have had to do the same, and that seemed to bring the topic to a halt for a moment. Darren was quick to insist that everything was okay now and change the topic to something more enjoyable, his battle against Brock. It had been enough to get Darren's flabebe to evolve into a floette and, after Jin came by and commented on it not taking long, Darren admitted that he used a shiny stone on the fairy soon afterwards to evolve her again."Well, as long as it's not hurting them or against their will, then I wouldn't think anyone else has any real right to tell you how to raise your pokemon,"Sable replied when the conversation shifted off topic to Darren's apparent talent at raising pokemon. He did seem to have a knack for it, there was no denying that.
Ultimately, the little gekkit provided another distraction as she tried and failed to jump up onto the bed. While Jin worked on placing the little fox onto the bed, Sable picked one of the apple slices off of her oatmeal and rubbed what she could of the cinnamon and sugar off with her thumb. She didn't necessarily think the amount that had been on there would hurt the little pokemon since she had certainly seen people feed stranger things to their partners, but she figured it'd be best to not overwhelm the little pokemon with too many scents and too strong a taste. While Darren questioned Jin about the pokemon, Sable held the little slice of apple out to the gekkit on the tips of her fingers. The small fox pokemon leaned over to sniff at the offering, but ended getting unbalanced by its bamboo collar and toppling into the teen's hand. Sable suppressed a giggle as the little fox pokemon scrambled to right herself and tried holding out the piece of fruit again.
Jin smiled a bit as Darren asked about the little fox pokemon."The nurse said she's called a gekkit,"the dark type replied while Sable tried to feed the little fox and said fox tried to accept the bit of food. Jin then took on a more thoughtful expression."I haven't seen one before, either, so I don't know much about her. The most I can tell is that she's some sort of fairy type."Even though he was trying to focus on chatting with Darren, Jin couldn't help glancing over to see how the attempt at giving the gekkit a bit of food was going. It had apparently taken a couple of tries, but it seemed the little fox pokemon was eventually able to get the apple slice and was now curled up next to Sable while contentedly chewing on the piece of fruit.
Sable chuckled a bit and wiped off her now-sticky fingers, since she doubted the little pokemon would appreciate her fur getting sticky with cinnamon, sugar, and apple juice. Once she felt her fingers were about as clean as they were gonna get without properly washing them, the teen poked at her pokedex to try and find anything on the little fox pokemon. A manual search didn't bring up anything useful, so Sable tried scanning the little pokemon."No data available,"rang out from the dex once the scan was complete, causing the little fox to raise her head and look around with a confused look before going back to what was left of her piece of apple."So much for that idea,"Sable commented as she set back down the pokedex, then picked back up her spoon and started on her oatmeal since it had cooled down more than enough for her to eat by then. She made sure to move some slices of apple to the side, though, so that she could pick out another one in case the gekkit wanted more.
While Sable enjoyed her meal, Jin chuckled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head."Actually, she's why I wandered off before you guys got sent away..."he admitted, then sighed lightly before scratching the little fox behind her ears."I had heard some high-pitched noises and couldn't help but go check what they were. What I found was this little lady stuck in a trash can and getting rocks thrown at her by some kids."Jin paused a moment and pursed his lips, but quickly went back to smiling when the gekkit looked up at him."When I pulled her out, I noticed she was bleeding, so I took her over to the pokemon center. I guess she cut her paw on some glass or something when she got stuck. Since she insisted on staying around me and it had sounded like we were going to be in Pewter for a little while longer, the nurse decided I might as well keep her with me until either she finished healing up or we got ready to leave,"Once again, Jin pursed his lips, but this time didn't bother to hide his uneasy expression when the gekkit looked up to see why he stopped scratching her behind the ears."I was looking for you guys to let you know about the arrangement, but by the time I got close, that weird girl was just finishing with sending sis away. I went to find out what was going on, and, well... I think you can guess the results."The dark type then let out a light sigh and went back to scratching the little pokemon behind her ears.

XD I didn't exactly have that option with Sable since they're the ones that bought her ticket to Unova in the first place. I just try to have a framework in mind and keep contradictions to an easily-explained minimum while I fill in the blanks. For instance, looking back at the Tanabata posts, I noticed that Sable is kinda contradicting some of what I figured out about her relationship with her mother. It's not a big contradiction, though, and her claiming to not know what the real problem is could easily be handwaved as her not wanting to talk about it and lying to help shut the topic down. Especially since the current version sounds much more sensible than it did the way Sable put it. XD
Pfft, yeah, gotta sleep sometime. And ah, that sounds smart. Diglett's Cave could also have been a good fit for that incense, but this works. ^ _ ^ We could get your incense out of the way first and have the odd gathering of pokemon be part of what starts up the encounter with the Rockets, since I'd figure they're looking for an easy score anyway and suddenly this random kid captures a bunch of rock types. ...And for some reason, I totally see Sable or Darren falling down some hole or other in the cave and landing among a horde of pokemon.
Sorry about how long it took to get this done. I've been a bit scatterbrained tonight. Darren nodded rapidly in agreement as Sable suggested that as long as he wasn't hurting anything, there wasn't any real reason to tell him how to raise his pokemon. "Oh yes, I wouldn't dream of doing anything to hurt her. I even made sure she was okay with using the stone so soon after her first evolution, and she seemed fine with it, so I certainly don't think it was against her will." Darren chuckled, albeit a bit sadly. He knew too many trainers who wouldn't have been nearly as caring about it as he was. Maybe that was what helped his pokemon grow so quickly? Darren recalled his grandfather's commentary on his abilities while Jin helped the gekkit onto Sable's bed, allowing Sable to feed it some apple slices, which distracted Darren somewhat as he giggled when the fox tripped into Sable's hand headfirst. Ultimately Darren was too enamored not to ask Jin about his new friend, apparently called a gekkit according to Jin. From what the zorua could tell, she was a fairy type, and that was about it. Even the pokedex didn't have any information about it.
Darren scanned it with his own pokedex as well. "How peculiar..." He mused, expecting the lack of data. He'd scanned the Gekkit for another reason. "I'll send what information the pokedex can gather to Professor Oak for analysis. Maybe he can send out an update, or at least give us a bit more information." He suggested, turning his attention to Jin when he revealed that the gekkit was actually the reason he'd wandered off when they made their way into Pewter City. "Ah, that makes sense now." Darren chuckled, though his smile vanished when Jin explained farther, mentioning that some kids had been throwing rocks at her when she was stuck in a trash can with a bleeding paw. "What?! That's awful!" Darren exclaimed, clearly aghast. "Poor little lady...." He frowned, looking over the gekkit with clear concern. "Well its a good thing you found her... I don't even want to think about what might've happened if you didn't...." Darren muttered pensively, but relaxed and sighed, looking to the gekkit with a soft smile. She was certainly a cute pokemon, Darren wanted to hold her too, but she was clearly enjoying herself where she was while Jin scratched her behind the ears, so he resisted for the moment.
Suddenly Darren's stomach growled loudly in protest to the lack of food, and Darren blinked in surprise, blushing a bit. "Ah.... Heh, excuse me... I guess I should probably get something to eat as well...." It was a pretty late breakfast, more like brunch at this point, leaning closer to lunch than anything else, but better late than never he supposed.

Aside from the lowered mood, things seemed to be going fairly well for a moment. Then someone's stomach growled rather loudly, startling the little gekkit and causing her to yelp as she ducked and hid in her bamboo collar. Jin and Sable were wondering for a moment whose stomach had expressed its displeasure, then looked at Darren just as he began apologizing. The duo started chuckling, but Sable was able to somewhat compose herself rather quickly."Don't tell me you forgot to get yourself something,"she chided gently, not that she could actually criticize him for it. No probably about it, she'd be the same way if he were the one stuck on a hospital bed.
Jin's chuckling continued a bit longer as he carefully rubbed the gekkit's head with the tips of his fingers to try and help her calm back down."Ah, I'll get it. You've been running around too much,"the dark type offered, then stepped away from Sable's bed."Besides, I need to get some food for the rest of the team, and me and the little lady are gonna need a bit more than a few pieces of fruit to get through the morning."Jin chuckled a bit once he finished his explanation, then paused near the doorway."Anything in particular you want?"He'd wait a moment for Darren to give his order before heading off to go after the food.
While waiting, Jin chuckled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head."Also, sis? You, uh, might want to do a bit of rearranging for that team of yours..."he suggested, to which Sable raised an eyebrow before poking at her dex."...Why...?"she asked cautiously, then blinked in surprise when it seemed there already were a couple of changes. Namely, that Scoundrel had been brought back into the team and that a few of her pokemon had new moves. She glanced back at Jin, who didn't seem like he wanted to explain himself, then sighed before messing around with the team arrangements."Well, I guess I should have expected this if you were stuck playing trainer,"she said with a light sigh, then chuckled a bit as she had to yet again bench the liepard and decided to put her new joltik into the team. She'd see about training it once she was cleared to leave.

Yeah, not that bad this time around, and that's what I usually shoot for. As long as I can come up with an in-character explanation, minor contradictions aren't so bad. It's bigger ones, like an NPC suddenly changing in appearance, gender, or disposition, that I have to watch out for.

Well, the author was wanting to start back up anyway, but first the person has to fix their profile. Right now they are trying to get accepted with three legendary pokemon in their team, and while we usually accept legendaries as gijinka (or at least we did for a while), legendaries under the control of a trainer are not permitted at this time. So that's gotta be fixed. Honestly, though... I've got a bad case of bad vibes from this person and I haven't even interacted with them yet. >_>

Darren grinned sheepishly as his stomach caused Sable and Jin to giggle, and the gekkit jump in surprise. Not that he could blame her, at this point the lack of food made it sound like some feral pokemon on the prowl. He apologized, confessing that he'd yet to eat something himself after Sable correctly guessed that fact and gently chided him for it. Judging by the lack of judgement in her tone though, Darren could tell she didn't really blame him. He would have gotten food for himself, though this being the.... Third, or possibly fourth–Darren honestly couldn't keep count–time he was getting up again, he wanted to take a moment before getting up again. Thankfully Jin jumped in, insisting that Darren had been running around too much, so he would get it instead. Besides, he still needed to get some food for Sable's team anyways. Darren gave the Zorua a tired smile, grateful to the Zorua, since he was getting a bit tired of getting up and down. He would gladly do it, if it were needed, but having the option to remain where he was and rest was nice. Not to mention, his body was aching rather badly, so it would be nice not to have to move around for a change. "Thanks Jin. If you could just toast me a plain bagel and bring some cream cheese and a side of fruit, that'd be lovely. Would you mind getting some food for my team as well...? Sorry..." Darren sighed, scratching his head a bit as he meekly made his request.
Before Jin left though, he mentioned to Sable that she ought to rearrange her team, since he'd changed it up a bit when he had to take over for battling. Not that he really wanted to explain that last bit when Sable asked. At least she didn't press the issue and set about seeing for herself, rearranging as she did so. When Jin left, and Sable was looking at her team, Darren gave a light yawn. His morning high was slowly starting to crash, especially now since he still hadn't managed to eat anything, but had busied himself all morning tending to Sable and Jin. Not that Darren was complaining, but his body certainly was. "Don't be upset with Jin..." Darren insisted, scooting a bit closer to Sable's bed so that he could lean over onto her cot again like he'd done the previous night, feeling rather tired and worn all of a sudden. As he leaned over though, he felt his bruises acting up again, and gave a short, quiet whimper, suppressing it the best he could. "H-he did the best he could, given the circumstances..." Darren's words were a bit strained, but he managed to keep his relatively cheerful tone throughout. He would have liked to avoid bending at all, but he was too tired and stiff to keep sitting up straight. Once he'd settled in his resting position, he gave a light sigh, relaxing.

It didn't take him all that long to get to the cafeteria, and it took him even less time to formulate a plan of attack. Still, even with him taking the smarter approach of grabbing bags of pokemon food and bowls for them so he could get them set up in the room, it was going to take him a while to transport all those bowls and bags along with the tray for Darren's bagel, cream cheese, and fruit and another plate containing a couple of pieces of french toast, a small container of syrup, eggs, and sausage. At least, it would if he wanted to make sure he wasn't constantly dropping stuff.
After Jin left, Sable's suspicion was confirmed when Darren leaned over the cot to rest. She decided not to push her concerns onto the teen quite yet, though, and instead opted to reassure him when he insisted that she not be mad at Jin for his actions."Don't worry, I'm not upset or anything like that,"she replied softly while the gekkit started pacing around the bed. The little pokemon was obviously feeling more anxious now that Jin was no longer in the room, so Sable offered her another apple slice to try and help her relax."Those pokemon were pretty tough, so I really can't blame him for teaching some of my team better moves,"she explained, then giggled briefly as the anxious gekkit decided to climb onto Darren's back. She stumbled a bit as she circled around twice and it wasn't long before she curled up and laid down right on Darren's back while watching the door.

I should hope so! XD I mean, it kinda was my inspiration for the first version of Jin I made. It just seems so perfect for a zorua/zoroark with a questionable background~ But yeah, Jin's songs are amazing, and so are ones by Last Note. I've been hooked on thesesongs for quite a while.

Darren felt a little more at ease when Sable insisted that she wasn't upset, explaining that she at least recognized that the pokemon they'd fought were tough, so therefore she didn't blame the Zorua for taking some liberties. "Ah, okay." Darren smiled tiredly, nodding in agreement. "Yeah they were pretty hard to beat, but thankfully we could handle the pokemon for the most part, it was the hex maniac that was really---" Darren started to recount the events, but the gekkit that had been pacing around the cot anxiously due to Jin's absence had now decided to use his back for a cushion, so Darren's story was cut off mid-sentence with a cry of pain. He didn't dare move, not wanting to throw the gekkit off of his back and scare her, but at the same time, the sharp ache that came with every step of her little paws was much more than Darren could bare. "N-ngh... P-please.... Agh... S-stop that....! N-nice gekkit please get off.... Ow...." Darren attempted to persuade the little fox.
His persuading was getting him nowhere, as now the gekkit had now circled twice on his tender back and laid down on him. It was too bad, under normal circumstances he would have thought that the gekkit's actions were rather cute, and he would have been happy to let her rest on his back, but the excruciating pain prevented him from enjoying the gekkit's cute antics. "H-help...." Darren managed the hoarse plea through grit teeth, eyes watery and looking utterly defeated.

As bad as it was, Sable couldn't help but chuckle a bit at Darren's reaction to the gekkit using him as a cushion."Alright, hang on,"she softly said with more than a hint of amusement as she assessed how best to handle the little pokemon. Obviously, she wanted to pick the little lady up in one go to get the pressure off of Darren as smoothly as possible, but she didn't want to startle the pokemon as she carefully moved the pokemon."Come on, sweetie. Darren can't be your cushion today,"the teen gently chided the little pokemon as she slowly moved her hands over to the gekkit and placed them under her. Carefully, she plucked the curled up fox off of Darren's back and moved her over to her own lap. The gekkit whimpered as she was taken away from her cushion, but ultimately accepted where she was placed and continued to watch the door while being petted by the teen that had her on her lap.
Sable smiled at the little pokemon for a moment, then sighed lightly as she looked at Darren."So, how bad is it really?"she asked him bluntly, then huffed out a brief chuckle."You should have been able to tell from me that the tough act can only last for so long."She chuckled a bit, then looked around before frowning."You should at least get yourself an ice pack or something to help numb the pain. I'll have to ask Jin to go get you one when he gets back..."she muttered, then had a sad frown when she looked at Darren.

Yeah, I kinda got hooked on them because of one song and then kept my eyes out for any other song that had their logo. Unfortunately, one of them has pretty much been scoured from YouTube, and now the only version of it that remains is a cover. Oh, for clarification, not all their songs are in a series. The first two I showed you are, but these two are completely unrelated. I think there's only two other songs that go with the first two I showed you.

But, he didn't find Mitsu and he was eventually spirited away back to Pewter. Which was upsetting, because now he didn't know where his friend was and had been worried. Ezra forgot that they'd added their contact into their holo castors, too. However, he got a message from someone and read it. After mentally scolding his idiocy, he responded and gae amsigh of relief. He was okay. Good.
