K'ent of green Cyxiiryniadrith

Quote:
A good mix of some yellowfin and redstripes! Yum, yum, yum!

Perfect darling! Cyxiiryniadrith was keeping herself as dry as she could, keeping one of her enormous wings perched above her head. You are doing splendidly! K'ent could only roll his eyes. It was all easy for his green to say when she wasn't casting and hauling lines. His hands ached with bitter blisters forged from hunger. At least it was worth the effort. He wiped sweat mixed with seawater from off his brow. K'ent's neat was full of a mix of wriggling fish. He knew hunger well -, the sight of the fll net giving him a small glow of pride.Perhaps this was a sort of fish that might be packed in salted and be able to help the weyr when things got leaner.

Ouch! This is deep. You have either lost a finger, or have cut into a nerve. This means you are out for the remainder of the game, and your grip will be permanently weakened. Take an extra -5 points for this roll.

Honestly it was a wonder what happened. A bit of a slacked grip where he shouldn't have, and the net caught in a way that made his stomach roil. He didn't look at the bleeding mess of his pinky and ring finger. Or perhaps, what is left of them. He balled up his shirt around his fist, rushing to the healers looking a bit green in the face.

Fishing was decidedly not within Aharaki's skillset, and her luck had yet to improve. This time, instead of reeling in a boot, she snapped her fishing line entirely. What a waste of time!

Quote:
61-70: You're fishing with a pole today, standing on the small floating dock.
You see the bobber go under, and pull up hard. Sure enough, there's a whopper at the end of the line. It's a fight, and you can tell you've snagged the largest packtail you've ever seen. Unfortunately you yank too hard and the line snaps. Not only is your pole now useless, but the big one gets away.
Worse, your fishing luck the rest of the sevenday seems to follow suit... You wind up with a whole lot of nothin'. -10 points

Though fishing was far from Ralla's favorite pastime - there was an awful lot of standing around and waiting, and she was a dragonrider, not a Seacrafter, if this was what the Weyr needed, then so be it. It helped that her luck was better today, and she actually brought in a decent haul of fish. Firith, who'd been her floating platform, was just glad when they were finally finished.

Quote:
71-80: You're doing all right! The haul you bring in is modest, but every little bit helps. Roll a D4 to see what you managed to gather from the sea! +5 points If you are a rider with XP, luck was with you this day, so double your haul! +5 More for Riders with XP

Lots of fish and a variety, too! Packtail, silverfish, bluefish, and even a few spiderclaws! Tasty, tasty!

Adi was still quite enjoying the addition to their duties - honestly, she'd have happily traded the Threadfighting for more fishing! - and Mazamath was always keen to spend time in the water, so they were a happy pair, even if the waves did sometimes to to take back their catch! But, once again, the blue was able to support his bonded, and she pulled in their net without losing any fish.

Quote:
41-50: As you begin to reel in the net or line, you are overpowered by a strong wave, and your catch is set free. Shardit! That had been a good haul, too! Nonriders or riders without XP points, take -5 points. If you are a rider, your dragon is able to support you, and you manage to bring in a full net of packtails. Riders with XP points add 5 points to their total.

Perhaps thanks to her success on previous outings, Iafri was once again assigned the task of foraging, and she was glad for it; not that she disliked fishing, but she found something deeply satisfying about foraging. She enjoyed the peace and quiet, the visits to the little lagoons, and the....tiny firelizard hatchlings? As she climbed carefully out of a tidepool with a few little mollusks added to her satchel, she heard the telltale peeping of a baby flit, and couldn't resist following the sound.

And there it was, a lost-looking little baby green! Poor dear! "Hi there, little one," she cooed, kneeling down in the sand to reach a hand out with a morsel from her pocket. "Are you hungry?"

Quote:

91-100: You decide to take a chance not on the water, but by hunting and scavenging on the beach itself. It seems to be successful! +5 points.

4. While hunting the beach, you you find a newly hatched baby firelizard! The hungry being demands tribute, and you have no choice but to give in! Thankfully, you have a few snacks stashed to ensure this little flit doesn't go hungry. Well, this is an unexpected surprise... Roll a D20 to see what color, and Quote Uta! (You can only win this once per character. If you roll it on a character who has already Impressed, they simply find shells from an already hatched clutch instead.)
1-9. Green

This whole fishing business was...really not something Allia was overly comfortable with. Though she'd had some luck previously, it was still new to her, and she just hadn't quite adjusted to these new duties yet. It didn't help matters that on this outing, all she managed to do was snap her line.

How useless!

Teohe couldn't really say exactly what happened, whether she'd been hit by a wave or just lost her footing through her own clumsiness, but one moment she was helping to pull in a net, the next she was in it! Instinctively, she thrashed to try to free herself from it, but her struggles only served to make matters worse and further entangle her. She could feel Tiossith shrieking, reaching for her and screaming for the others to save her, and save her they did. She was hauled out of the water and back to shore, untangled from the net, and packed off to the infirmary to be checked over.

Quote:

1-10. You don't know exactly what happened, but somehow you have wound up tangled up in a fishing net, out in the middle of the ocean. You thrash around and try hard to free yourself, but all you wind up doing is breathing in the salt-water. Thankfully, you're fished out by your fellows, untangled from the net, and dragged back to shore. Outside of being a little traumatized, roll a D4 to see what the results of your poor fishing happened to be!

4. You fall ill. Perhaps it was drinking too much saltwater; perhaps it was getting wrapped up in netting and wire, but you find yourself coming down with the sniffles, and then it turns into a full-blown cold. You wind up needing to be a few days in the infirmary, and aren't going to be able to participate for the next next sevenday. [-20 points, and character loses the next sevenday's roll (so skip a week)]

Fishing and Khazine were really not getting on all that well. The brownrider lacked a certain gentle touch, and once again, snapped her fishing line.
