Sebastian made his way into Santalune Forest, glancing this way and that. Boy, there were a lot of trees; it kind of reminded him of some of the forests back home… Viridian was it? It certainly had the same feel. Someone at the pokemon center had mentioned it being a nice place for nature walks and he could certainly see why.
He followed the paths a little farther in before wandering off when he spotted a grassier area. Dropping his bag next to a tree in a flat grassed area, he stepped away, starting to take a better look around.

The sound of rustling grass and a ‘Pika pika’ caught Sebastian’s attention. He blinked and slowly made his way in the direction of the noise, spotting the little lightning bolt shaped tail poking up in the air. He gave a little frown. A Pikachu? In the forests? Well now that was certainly a change of pace; he’d have expected a bug or something.
Still, it was an opportunity to train and so he removed Spade’s pokeball from his belt. He probably needed it the most. He unleashed the Mightyena next to him, the familiar twitchy gaze meeting his own before the trainer gave a nod and gestured with a head tilt at the still unsuspecting Pikachu. "Go get it, boy."

Well that sucked. Sebastian couldn’t help but frown, laying a hand on top of Spade’s head as the poor pokemon flinched and twitched, the little sparks of static flickering through the air. He certainly hadn’t expected Spade to be a victim of paralysis so quickly; they’d just reached the forest. "Sorry, Spade." He apologized, the Mightyena just giving a little grunt in response. He knew his trainer didn’t intend it; things happened. The sound of something moving down the tree trunk next to them caught his attention though, both their gazes redirecting to the Caterpie shimming down the trunk. Spade barked, immediately stepping towards the creature.
"You sure about this, Spade?" He questioned. The Mightyena flinched and twitched, sparks flying once more before he launched himself at the Caterpie to attack.

The Caterpie went down with a single slam from the Mightyena, eyes swirling as the pokemon slinked back to his trainer. The sight of the wild bug pokemon reminded Sebastian of his own, well, before it’d evolved. It would probably do him some good to let the poor thing out once in a while.
Of course, Metapod didn’t have limbs. It seemed kind of cruel to bring her out only to be a sitting duck. And a semi-prime example of this fact appeared right as the Caterpie was coming around. Quickly from the tree tops a tiny little bird appeared, swooping down to try and scoop up the still dazed Caterpie. Luckily enough, it seemed to miss, the bug pokemon frantically scurrying back into the grass as the Fletchling dove back down and landed in the now barren spot. It chirped, head tilting this way and that as it tried to figure out where its prey had gone, before turning its attention to Sebastian and Spade.
It chirped rather sweetly, before its little wings flailed out, apparently ready to do battle. Spade winced in response, failing to move as the paralysis took ahold for once. The little bird saw the opening and took it, with little problem. Boy, this thing was feisty.

Sebastian watched as the pokeball shook for the final time, the little pinging noise to indicate the capture had been successful echoing through the forest trees. He gave Spade another pat on the head before going to retrieve the pokeball, pulling out his pokedex in the process to scan it.
A Fletchling, hm? The little bird certainly had been a feisty one that was for sure. Putting the pokeball away, he retrieved Spade’s pointing it in his direction. "Go ahead and take a rest for a bit, okay Spade?" He remarked as the pokemon was returned. Apparently he’d be making a return trip to the Pokemon Center sooner rather than later. But for now, he could probably take a break.

Sebastian reached down, grabbing ahold of Metapod’s pokeball. It was probably time he checked on the poor thing. Seeing that Caterpie had reminded him of the pokemon and he was still feeling a bit uncertain of what to do. Caterpie hadn’t always been the most… upright of all his pokemon. From day one of capture, she had trouble staying on the little nubs called feet, instead flailing around on her back like a Magikarp on dry land. It was … kind of sad.
Maybe he could spend some time helping her get right side up. If that was possible for a Metapod…

"Alright, come on out, Metapod." Sebastian remarked, the light streaming to the ground as the pokeball opened. Sebastian stared as the light started coming together, at first looking like a Metapod before suddenly shifting shapes. Wait, what? The trainer quirked an eyebrow in slight confusion, listening to the pokemon a moment.
Silence had shifted to something else… was Metapod actually making noise? It didn’t sound anything like its name now that he considered it. Was it saying something about butter?

Sebastian watched a moment longer, the light finally dissipating as in the place of where Metapod should’ve been, was instead a purplish butterfly. Oh. Oh well, that was something. He hadn’t expected Metapod to evolve into a Butterfree. I mean, he hadn’t even brought the thing out for battle. Probably because most Caterpie weren’t very strong to begin with.
Still. Sebastian knelt down, eyeing the Butterfree who was shaking her head and rubbing at her big red bug eyes with her little hands. "Well now, so you evolved, huh? That’s pretty-"
”Free!” The Butterfree suddenly squealed, wings flapping as she suddenly caught sight of Sebastian. This was what, maybe her third time actually seeing her trainer? She had no clue who he was! In a panic, she tried to flap away, failing and instead flopping to her back in a spastic flailing manner. Why was the sky so hard to fly through?!

Somewhere in the Pokemon universe, someone was watching Sebastian and purposely setting him up with the most odd-balled pokemon possible. Someday, they’d be normal. Maybe.
"Hey, hey, hey, calm down!" Sebastian remarked, dropping to his knees next to the pokemon and reaching out to help. Butterfree continued to flail and panic, trying to flap her wings but failing because of them being pinned against herself and the floor.
”Butterfree! Free! Freefreefree!” The poor pokemon continued to panic. Sebastian wasn’t really sure what to do. Maybe leaving her in the ball for so long was a bad idea.

Sebastian gently picked up Butterfree despite all her struggles, setting her on her feet so that at least her wings were no longer pinned. She seemed to calm down once corrected, although plopping down to sort of sit instead of stand once Sebastian had let her go. ”Free…” The butterfly chirped in a sort of cautious tone, now looking at Sebastian for the first time since calming down. Her trainer gave a slight smile, a sort of skeptical look in his eyes.
"You okay now? " He asked, tilting his head as the pokemon ruffled her wings uncertainty. Well at least she was right side up for now. "Do you want to do some training?""Free…. Free.." Another little ruffle of her wings, but no signs that suggested she was completely against the idea.
"Alright, let’s see what we can find, okay?" He remarked, standing back up to start shuffling through the grass for wild pokemon.

”Freee...,” Butterfree seemed to whine slightly, head shaking and wings fluttering in a mix of agitation and unease. Unfortunately, the Pansage had been a bit tougher than either of them had thought, managing to give the poor pokemon a hefty scratch to the face in retaliation.
Luckily another tackle had put it down before it could do anymore damage. But before Sebastian could call Butterfree back to heal, another pokemon appeared, similar in appearance to the green monkey from before, but with a more fire looking motif. The Weedle came to and scurried back into the grass. Sebastian waited, staring after it, head snapping about once, then twice and then a third time before giving a sigh of relief when nothing new suddenly showed.
"Al… right. Come here Butterfree." He remarked, digging a couple of potions out of his bag and dropping to a knee as the butterfly shuffled over to him. He spritzed the creature, earning a little chirp of surprise and then slight satisfaction at being healed up. Sebastian gave a nod, tucking the empty bottles away, reaching a hand out and patting Butterfree gently on the head.
"You did good for your first few battles." He remarked, the Butterfree giving him a still less than enthused look. Sebastian didn’t seem to comprehend the pokemon’s apprehension, instead opting to look around a bit and see if there was anything else about. He’d have to set up camp soon by the looks of it.

Suddenly a figure darted from the tree tops above, going directly for Butterfree. Sebastian barely had time to respond as yet another Fletchling appeared, faster than the one from earlier. What had provoked the thing, the trainer wasn’t sure, but it certainly seemed angry as it slammed quickly into Butterfree.
