Revitalized at the idea of meeting the famous Melody, and her friend, Heather kicked it into overdrive as she began looking for an egg. Lysander was forced to try and keep up with her, though that was a relatively easy task given their height difference, while also doing his own searching. "Why are you so excited about this?" he asked as he shifted a bit of sand underneath his foot; they'd begun their search at the beach. "Isn't it obvious?" Heather retorted, busying herself by looking underneath a forgotten beach umbrella. "I never get a chance to meet your friends! Like, at all, sometimes I worry that you never have any." Lysander scoffed and kicked up a bit of sand, though this time it wasn't in search of an egg. "I have friends," he argued, only to grit his teeth when his sister simply laughed.
Lysander put a bit of space between himself and his sister, widening their search, and as he searched he couldn't help but to reflect on her words. Sure, he wasn't the social Butterfree Heather was, but he had a few friends; he kept his group a small one was all, better to manage that way. The man was still in the process of mentally reassuring himself that he wasn't a total loner when Amp called out, in need of help of something. "You find an egg?" Lysander guessed as he jogged over to look at what the Shinx was furiously trying to bat out of a small hole, then grinned. "Oh hey, you did," he couldn't keep the surprise from his voice as he plucked the plastic, flower decorated, egg out and held it up to inspect. Before he could praise his pokemon for his find, however, two boys, around Heather's age, approached with scowls on their faces.
"Hey! That's our egg!" One boy exclaimed, while his companion only nodded. Lysander raised an eyebrow, "doesn't seem to have your name on it," he pointed out, turning the egg around for emphasis to show off its unmarked surface. Neither boy seemed to appreciate it. "That's not the point! We were here first, and claimed this beach as ours! So, any egg found here is, by default, ours." Lysander's expression fell flat, were they... serious? He opened his mouth, preparing for a response, but thought better of it and simply turned around to begin to walk back to Heather. "Don't you dare walk away from us!" The boy shouted, and immediately the man turned around, less than amused. "Or what?" he growled. He was more than ready to throw a few punches, if it came down to it, but... was one stupid egg really worth getting into a physical fight with two teenagers? Probably not.
"Hey, hey. Let's calm down now," the other boy, who'd remained quiet up until now, urged. He was apparently the more diplomatic of the two. "We're all trainers here, right? Let's settle this with a battle then, winner takes the egg." Lysander looked between the two, taking note of the more vocal boy's scrunched up face. He was more than prepared to decline and just continue on his way -- he'd found this egg on his own, no reason why he had to make a deal with these two brats -- and opened his mouth to do so, but before he could get the words out Heather suddenly popped up, from seemingly out of nowhere, Tina and Cadenza at her side. "A battle? Let's do it!"
Lysander wasn't the only one surprised by Heather's arrival, and the two boys shared a look of confusion between each other, but the latter were quicker to respond and, with a nod from both, they began to shift through their belts to send out pokemon. Lysander, needing a few more seconds to register what had happened, eventually sighed before he gently nudged Amp forward with his foot, encouraging him to take part in the battle.

"Hmph.""Alright~" Respond in kind to the results of the first round, the Blackwood siblings looked expectantly at their opponents and awaited their next pokemon. This was their first double battle -- and only Heather's second trainer battle -- but, despite their lack of experience they found no trouble in becoming in-sync with each other, and the same went with their pokemon. Of course, they'd need more practice in working in tandem, but for their first time the two were doing remarkably well. Lysander hid a smile as Amp charged in behind Cadenza, tightening the muscles in his back-legs before he launched into the air and clamped his ice-encrusted fangs into the airborne Tropius. Meanwhile, Heather applauded wildly as Cadenza sent the set of Exeggcute barreling back with a feinted jab to the left, it was always hard to tell if he was doing those attacks on purpose or he if he was just simply dizzy. Either way...

With neither of their parties fainted or even taken damage, it was clear which side would come out victorious. And it was exactly that reason why, as the two boys begrudgingly sent out their last pokemon, the siblings decided against using the more obvious type advantage and, instead, gave their more weaker pokemon a chance to battle. Perhaps it was just coincidence that the two were water types, but the typing hardly mattered. "We should have those try targeting the same pokemon, it'll go quicker that way," Lysander advised, eyes on the battle. "Sounds good," Heather agreed, the large grin she sported failing to convey her seriousness. At least, compared to brother.

With their battle concluded, Heather took over healing both Legato and Bass while Lysander dealt with their 'opponents'. His mood had been alleviated with their win, but not enough that he regarded the two boys with anything more than narrow-eyed indifference. "So, you lost," he stated in monotone, then gestured for the two to leave. The vocal boy -- neither boy had introduced himself, and Lysander hadn't been bothered enough to ask -- opened his mouth to... yell? Curse? Lysander never found out, as his companion quickly stomped down on his foot to keep him from speaking. The boy's face turned red with pain, but he got the message, and after shooting Lysander one last glare hobbled away. "...I'm sorry about Landon, really," the other apologized, lingering behind just long enough to issue his apology before he walked away.
Lysander huffed, then rolled his shoulders. "That was a pain," he complained a loud, turning to face Heather. She wasn't where he'd last seen her, and with a furrowed brow he turned his head from side-to-side before he spotted his sister, with the pokemon, staring down at something that'd washed up on the shore. "Hey Lys!" she called out to him, glancing up briefly to find her brother. "Look at what Amp found!" Curious, Lysander headed over and looked at the pokeball Heather now held in her hands. That was certainly the last thing he expected them to come across on the beach.
"It just... washed up here?" Lysander asked, trying to make sense of the situation. "Uh-huh." Heather gently rubbed the pokeball against her shirt, cleaning and drying it off, "you think there's a pokemon inside of it?" Lysander shrugged, gaze flickering to the coast to try and determine where the pokeball could have possibly come from. His attention hadn't even fully shifted over before he heard the familiar sound of a pokemon being sent out -- for him, it was a sound akin to the soft whirring of a machine -- and then a growl as the pokemon from within materialized. "Heather, what do you think you're doing!?" Reacting immediately, Lysander pulled his sister behind him and glared up at the dragon that loomed down over them. "Lys, I think it's friendly..." Heather tried, stepping a bit farther out from her brother's cover. "You don't know that," he responded tensely, stepping to the side so that he stood in front of her again.
She sighed, but as much as she might've wanted to disagree... she knew how dangerous it was to just assume that the pokemon before them wouldn't just attack. The gears in her head began to turn as she tried to formulate a plan, an idea eventually making itself known. "Oh! Give it one of your poptarts, Lys," she urged. "What?" Lysander didn't try to look at his sister to try and gauge if she was serious, not daring to take his eyes off the pokemon -- it certainly hadn't taken its eyes off of them. "Yeah, it might be hungry! And, I've heard that feeding a pokemon is a good way of gaining its trust!""It's also a good way to have your fingers bitten off," he retorted, but already he was, slowly, reaching back for his bag. They couldn't very well just spend all day in a staring contest! And, if anyone had to do it, better him than Heather.
Lysander made certain to keep his movements as slow as possible, not wanting to move too fast and scare the pokemon into attacking, and eventually he managed to pull out another pack of poptarts and slowly unwrapped it. He took out one and, ignoring the inner voice that told him not to give away his food, hesitantly stretched the pastry out. The pokemon stared down at the poptart, unsure of what to think of it, but eventually its curiosity got the best of it and the pokemon grabbed the food from Lysander, sniffed it, and then proceeded to wolf it down. Lysander wasn't even sure if it even bothered chewing.
A rumble started in its chest and Lysander tensed, but behind him Heather giggled. "I think that means he likes it. Give him another!" she suggested, slowly peeking her head out once more. Lysander grunted, even less pleased, but complied and handed over another poptart. The beast took it much quicker this time, and chewed happily before rumbling once more. "See!" Heather skittered from around Lysander, grinning, "I was right! He's friendly!" she exclaimed, and before Lysander could protest she reached out to pet the dragon's scaly hide. It stiffened, rumbling immediately coming to a halt, and stared down at Heather, sizing her up. Rather than show fear, the teenager smiled gently and rubbed its side, "hey there, big guy! You were hungry weren't you, huh?" The dragon, after a long moment, eventually nodded before returning to its rumbling, softer this time.

Adder didn't get very far before he noticed a couple of trainers with what seemed to be a garchomp. A garchomp. Hold on! He quickly pulled out a book, his eyes going wide. Yeah that was.... that was a rare pokemon! Hell, it's pre-evolution forms were pretty rare, but it took a lot of training to get it to evolve to its final stage! He jerked his head back up. The two didn't seem too friendly or familiar with the pokemon... the guy was guarding the girl from it, inf act. What, were they boyfriend and girlfriend or something? Or maybe brother and sister.... Adder watched intensely, before, finally, he put his book away, and ran forward. The two seemed to have.... calmed the creature? They fed it at least. It didn't seem to be as tense a situation anymore, at any rate. "Hey, did you guys just catch that garchomp?" he asked, still looking at the pokemon with heavy interest. It certainly seemed like that. That, or... they found it. But what were the odds of that?

Lysander watched Heather interact with the pokemon, wary, but with arms crossed he turned around as a young boy approached. "Garchomp?" So that was what this pokemon was called? Huh. Good to know. Lysander paused a moment, eyeing the kid, "what's it to you?" Heather frowned before she gave Garchomp one last pat, then turned around. "Lysander, don't be like that," she scolded, offering the stranger an apologetic smile. "Uhm, not really? We sorta just found its pokeball in the water," she explained. Adder scowled at the guy's reaction. What a jerk... He looked over at the girl as she intervened, folding his arms over his chest. At least she wasn't rude. He looked between them, then turned his gaze, with interest, back onto the pokemon. He looked back at her with confusion when she answered, though. "You...found it in the water?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow. That sounded.... a bit dubious. He eyed the two, then the pokemon. Had it been abandoned or something? He looked back at the girl when she asked, shifting his weight some and trying to decide whether it was better to be honest, or play it aloof. "I.... I mean, yeah..." he admitted in a begrudgingly mumbled, "It's a pretty strong and rare pokemon... And I'm kinda trying to get all of 'em." That wasn't... too obvious, right? Hopefully....

Lysander, catching sight of the kid's scowl, shifted himself and crossed his arms loosely over his chest, but held back from saying anything. Partly because Heather had already engaged the kid in a conversation, and he was curious as to his reason for approaching them. "It's rare?" Heather repeated, then looked up at the Garchomp in question with a smile, "well isn't that cool!" Garchomp didn't respond, its gaze fixated on the smaller human, which prompted Heather to do the same. "You said you're trying to catch every pokemon? That's a pretty big goal," she gushed. "Best of luck to you~" The teen had lost count over how many pokemon there were discovered, but... she knew there were a lot; more than seven hundred. Still smiling, it took the girl a moment to realize where the boy was going with his admission, and when she finally did her eyes lit up with understanding.
"Oh! Do you want our Garchomp?" she inquired, though before she could continue on Lysander stepped forward, cutting her off. "You can't just have it," he stated, rather calm. "Lysander!" Heather exclaimed, frowning. "Didn't you hear him? This pokemon is important to him, he's gotta 'catch 'em all'." Ever the sympathetic, Heather hadn't stopped for a moment to consider whether or not they actually should hand over the Garchomp, after all they didn't know anything about the kid, she was just stuck on the fact that he needed something they had. Lysander cracked his neck, "yeah, I heard him. And what I'm saying is that we just aren't going to hand this over, we don't know him. We're not obligated to give him anything," he explained, then shifted his attention to the kid. "You said Garchomp is rare? Then give me a pokemon of equal value."
Heather, whose cheek began to puff out, kept her mouth shut. Though she didn't agree with how her brother had put it, he wasn't exactly wrong to want to make a trade. It was... only fair.

Adder stared a moment, then nodded, rather slowly, to the girl's question. He didn't want to like... tip her off, or anything. Make her think that maybe it would be better to keep the pokemon to herself. Or maybe, more accurate, make the guy think that. He seemed to be the jerk in this operation, and he proved that shortly thereafter, when he cut his sister -- Adder assumed -- off in her offer. He frowned, then sneered at the man, raising his shoulders a bit defensively. What a jerk! He'd been so close to just getting it, too...
Scowling, Adder crossed his arms over his chest. He didn't have any rare pokemon to give. He wasn't sure he really wanted to give any pokemon at all. He totally deserved that garchomp, but, of course, that wasn't really how the world worked. He huffed. He could trade Toucannon, but.... he'd spent so much time training it. The others he still kinda needed to evolve. An unown? He had a lot of them, but he doubted they'd want it. Maybe if he sold it up... Or... "I have a Girafarig," he stated flatly, squaring his shoulders with his arms crossed. He wasn't even sure where to find it, so.... it was probably kind of rare, right. "It's a psychic type." In case they were too dumb to know their pokemon. "Will that do?" Best. Conversation skills. Ever.

Lysander considered the pokemon the kid offered, while at the same time forcing himself to move past the fact that he'd gone and told him what type Girafirag was. He wasn't stupid. He didn't know what it was about the kid, but... he got on his nerves. Heather seemed immune -- or oblivious -- to the boy's rather rude demeanor, but he didn't like him. Which was why he purposefully took his time in giving his answer, long after he'd decided on accepting.
"Yeah, that'll do," he finally answered, gruffly, and then gave Heather the go ahead. "Are you okay with this, Garchomp?" she asked, wanting the dragon's permission before they just off and traded it. It blinked (for the first time) and gave something akin to a nod, prompting Heather to return it to the pokeball she'd originally found it in before she turned to the boy. "Here you are, one Garchomp~" she sang, stretching out the hand that held the pokeball out for him. "Oh, we should trade numbers! Just in case we ever run into a pokemon you don't have yet, we'll do another trade! Or just give it to you!" She suggested excitedly, reaching back into her bag to pull out a piece of paper and write her number on it. "I'm Heather by the way, and this grump over here is my brother, Lysander." Lysander grunted.The boy's sudden appearance had, apparently, made her forget her manners, hence the late introduction. Now was a good time as any, since she was offering him her number.

Adder was about a step from just swinging forward to kick the guy in the shins, grab the pokeball, return the garchomp, and bolt, when Lysander spoke up. Finally. The guy seemed like a total jerk, he was looking forward to getting away from him. He turned to address Pichu and Lady, telling them to go look for an egg, then glancing back over as the girl addressed the pokemon being traded. He pulled out the Girafarig's pokeball, eying Heather warily at her enthusiastic suggestion.
"... Suuuuurre...." he agreed with substantially less energy than the girl. Getting pokemon sounded like a... good idea, even if it meant socializing. Thena gain, pokemon could be traded through the PC now, so that actually might not be required. He glanced over at Lysander when they were introduced, and shifted, considering not giving his name and just offering his number. But... he didn't want them making something up to refer to him by. "Adder," he replied simply, holding out his communicator for Heather to just put their number in. He handed over Girafarig's pokeball as well.

Happy he'd agreed, Heather began to input both hers and Lysander's number then held out her communicator for him to add his number. While she did that Lysander took the Girafirag's pokeball and clipped it onto his own belt, they both had three pokemon but since Heather hadn't spoken up about claiming the pokemon for herself... he saw no reason why he shouldn't be the one to claim the psychic. "It was very nice to meet you, Adder," Heather remarked after she'd finished up, stepping back to join her brother. "I hope we get to meet again!" She waved before she began to tug her brother away, Amp and Cadenza following after. As nice as it was to meet new people, they couldn't forget that they were still looking for eggs! Adder tried not to let his eye twitch or anything at the farewell, instead just giving a nod. "Yeah, um, sure," he managed back. He sort of held his breath till they were gone, before finally relaxing. He looked down at the pokeball, and actually managed a smile, before turning and heading for the pokecenter. He needed to put the pokemon in the PC for the time being, but he might pull it out to use later. He was pretty sure Garchomp had a mega form, and they were a pretty decent pokemon. He might end up using it for battle even if he didn't need it for pokedex anymore.
His pokemon had managed to find an egg, too, and after asking around, he was eventually able to get someone else who could teleport him to the next location, Geosenge. Thankfully....

Another few minutes of quick flying (the Charizard, Ashley noted, was incredibly fast for the type of pokemon that it was) and they touched down in Ambrette Town. It was a pain that they were back tracking through areas he’d already been through, but Ashley saw no point in complaining. He did, after all, only choose to consider this event after the fact and so had no one else but himself to blame for what was an ineffective use of his time and man power.
Sliding off the Charizard he once more motioned for Lizzie to remain as opposed to leaving, seeming to indicate that he expected quick results this time as well. "Did you study ze egg, Bastien?" Ashley spoke, catching the fox off guard. The pokemon snapped his attention up to see the man staring down at him and hesitantly nodded his head.
