"So, shall we begin?" Brock offered, and realization struck Darren. Right, gym battle, that was why he was here in the first place. "Yes, yes." Darren nodded. "Come on out Lapis!" He sent the fairy type out, though when Lapis saw Brock, she clutched her flower and immediately huddled closer to Darren. "Haha, aw, what a timid little one." Brock chuckled, and Darren reciprocated with a bit of a chuckle of his own. "A little more bashful than timid really. By no means is she lacking in confidence. She's just a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people, that's all." Darren smiled at the little flabébé and coaxed her towards the arena. "We've gotta battle now Lapis, you'll do just fine. If you could handle those ghosts, then you can certainly handle this." He encouraged her. "Be...." She nodded hesitantly, floating towards her spot in the arena, her expression determined. "I see. Well let's see what she's got! Come on out geodude!" He called, sending his first pokemon out. With that, the battle was on.
Darren assessed the pokemon before him for a moment, purely out of respect; he already knew what he wanted to do. "Alright Lapis, use Razor Leaf!" Darren commanded. "Flabébé!!!" Lapis summoned a storm of tiny green leaves and sent them all shooting at the rock type. It was not only super effective, but doubly so, due to the geodude's unfortunate dual typing. Darren was almost taken aback at how powerful the attack looked. "W-wow Lapis... You've gotten really strong!" Darren stated proudly. "Bébé...? Bé!~" Lapis chirruped happily, though her focus moved back to the geodude as it slowly pulled itself up off the ground, clearly worn out already from just the one attack. "I'll say. That sure was something. Nothing like Alex's blastoise, but your flabébé's got heart, I'll give it that." Brock commended. "However, we're not finished just yet! Geodude, use Magnitude!" Brock commanded, and the Geodude roared, pounding the ground with his fists so that it began to tremble and scatter rocks, several of which flew up and pelted Lapis. Thankfully she didn't take too much damage, avoiding most of it by floating above ground on her flower.

Darren and Flynn struggled to keep their balance during the magnitude while Zephyr easily dodged everything by fluttering his wings. Flying types had a knack for dodging ground type moves like that.... Eventually the quake settled down and Darren righted himself. "You alright Lapis?" Darren inquired, and the fairy nodded. She was hurt, but she could most certainly go on. "Alright then, let's use Fairy Wind!" Darren commanded. The last attack had done more than enough damage, Darren was certain that the only reason the geodude was still hanging on was because of it's sturdy ability. It was quite amazing to bear witness actually, but a blast of the powerful sparkly pink wind from Lapis was enough to knock the geodude out. "You did great geodude, return." Brock smiled warmly at his pokemon as he was returned.
Brock then swapped for his next pokeball. "Not bad, not bad at all, but can you stand up to my next pokemon?" Brock asked curiously. "Well... There's only one way to find out isn't there?" Darren offered with a grin. Brock chuckled at that, then tossed his next pokeball into the air. "Alright, you asked for it. Let's go onix!" The massive rock snake appeared, and Lapis' wide eyed gaze slowly looked up, assessing the onix's size. Even Darren was rather shaken, but he refused to be intimidated. "Lapis." He turned to the flabébé. "B-b-bé...." She trembled, not sure if she could handle a pokemon of this size. That thing was massive! She might have gotten stronger, but she'd never fought a pokemon this big before!

Lapis' fear of the size difference between her and the onix had frozen her in her tracks. "Hm... It seems you might not have trained properly for this battle. If she's going to be frozen in fear by an intimidating opponent, you can't expect that the opponent won't take advantage of it! Onix, use Bind!" Bock commanded, and the giant rock snake surged forward, wrapping itself around Lapis and squeezing her tight, preventing escape. Lapis squealed with pain and fear, her screams echoing in Darren's ears. "L-lapis!!!" Darren cried out worriedly as she struggled between the crushing boulders that made up the onix's body. She was so small and fragile... Darren had never intended for her to get hurt like this. Brock may have been trying to teach a valuable lesson here, but Darren felt a familiar pulse of anger throbbing through his core. It was completely unjustified, Lapis wasn't in any real danger, Brock would never take things that far, and yet...
"....Let her go." Darren demanded quietly. "Hm...?" Brock picked up the change in Darren's tone, as did Zephyr, Lapis, and Flynn. At this revelation, Zephyr started to twitch and squawk excitedly, but Flynn moved between Darren and the battle, grunting to try and get Darren's attention. Darren glanced at his starter distantly, expression almost lacking any recognition for a moment, but eventually, he came back. "Ngh...." Darren groaned, wavering for a moment before Flynn caught him and helped keep his balance. "Hey, are you okay over there Darren....?" Brock asked. "Char...." Flynn murmured worriedly, seeming to agree with Brock's concern. Zephyr make a noise something akin to a disappointed snort, but Darren ignored it. "Y-yes.... Sorry, I'm fine." Darren offered a simpering smile, shaking the feeling off. Everything was fine, he was fine, control it, ignore it.
Darren took a deep breath and let the feelings go. "Lapis!" He called to the flabébé, refocusing his attention. "Bé....?" She acknowledged her trainer's call, in spite of her situation. "Try to use razor leaf on your bindings!""Bé!" She voiced her agreement and followed Darren's suggestion, attacking the onix's rock segments with her leaves. As Darren expected, the onix roared and loosened it's coils to allow more wiggle room for Lapis, though it still hurt.

They were back. Whatever was going on with Darren, he seemed to be fine now. "Don't let that flabébé out of your coils onix! Use Rock Tomb and keep her sealed in tight!" Bock commanded. Onix roared and complied, moving to grab some boulders and began to throw them at Lapis. "L-lapis get out of there!" Darren urged her. The fairy sprung loose from the Onix's grip and began to try and dodge the boulders. She was able to avoid getting completely crushed, but she did take a few hard hits. It was getting harder and harder for Darren to ignore the burning anger rising up in his chest. His breathing was heavy, his heart was pounding. He had to end this soon or he knew he'd end up doing something he'd regret. Brock didn't deserve that. He was a kind man and a great teacher, but it hurt to see Lapis pressured like this. It taught him something valuable though. Training was all well and good if you got stronger, but there was more to training than strength and levels. You had to learn how to face odds that weren't in your favor. "You've got this Lapis, use Fairy Wind again!" Despite the embarrassment she was feeling, Sable did feel somewhat better. At the very least, she was breathing easier than she had been, although the amount of anxiousness building up within her was making her feel uncertain about how long that would last for. Her tactic of letting her mind wander had backfired, though, and she felt like she needed to do something other than lay in bed. She didn't want to risk pushing herself too hard, so she decided to start relatively small by trying to ease herself into a sitting position. Depending on how that went, she might try seeing if there was a book or magazine or something to read in the recovery room.

Yup~ He can't help it~ And heh, I just realized something a while back. On a whim, I looked up which nature disliked bitter stuff (most medicines are bitter if they haven't had artificial flavors added to them, or at least that's my experience, and besides, who actually likes super bitter stuff?) and liked sweets (he was a young kit when he first got "captured" and it's not likely he would have been allowed to have much in the way of treats until after getting away from Void/Imperium), and of all things, the nature was "naive."

Darren smiled kindly as Brock congratulated him on his win, praising his bond with Lapis. "Thank you si-- I mean, Brock. That means a lot to me." Darren finished, catching himself before he called Brock "sir" again. He wasn't too worried about training her not to be shy around people though. That wasn't really something he felt was something that could really be taught. How to handle a fear of pokemon more than five times her size however, that he could, and probably should try to work on for the future. He accepted Brock's gifts gladly, storing them away in his bag. Lapis slowly floated over to Darren and he smiled brightly at her, pulling her into a hug. "Hey! You did so great out there Lapis! Come here, let's get you healed up a bit with potions for now, but when we get back to the pokemon center, I'll make sure they get you fully rested and take care of, okay? You've earned it~" Darren insisted. Lapis gave Darren a tired smile, sitting still and patiently while he tended to her wounds.
She felt so peaceful and warm laying in his arms, smiling a bit to herself and snuggling close. Whether it was the praise, the training with Brock, the love she felt from Darren, or some combination of the three, Lapis suddenly began to glow, and Darren nearly dropped her in surprise. Thankfully he didn't holding on to Lapis gently as she grew bigger. "L-Lapis???" Darren was awed at the spectacle. "Flo...?" Lapis blinked and opened her eyes, almost seemingly unaware of what had occurred. "Lapis, you evolved!" Darren said giddily, hopping from one foot to the other in excitement. "F-flo?!" Lapis cried out in surprise, pulling away from Darren and spinning around to take a look at her new form while Darren scanned her with his pokedex. "Wow! Just look at you~" Darren grinned. "Come on, this is a cause for celebration!" He took her into his arms and quickly made his way out of the doors of the gym. It was time to go shopping!

Darren cradled Lapis in his arms as he made his way to the pokemart, Flynn and Zephyr trailing close behind. He was excited about his win and Lapis' evolution, but he continually reminded himself to get Sable the berry pots Jin had requested. He couldn't wait to tell her about winning all those items and pokemon from the hexer too. Maybe she would want a share in the loot too. After all, he really didn't need so much stuff. For now though, as he entered the pokemart, he bought Lapis a TM for Psychic and a Heart Scale, both for future use. He already had a shiny stone to evolve her into a Florges as well, but he wasn't sure if he should force that on her or not. After all, she was still probably getting used to her latest form. Well... He could talk it over with her after shopping. After getting the gifts for Lapis, he moved to the gardening section of the mart, and after a bit of searching, found some suitably sized berry pots for traveling, as well as some lum berries for himself. While he was at it, he supposed he should try and get some berry pots too. Growing some of these lum berries was probably a good investment of his time and money.
He thanked the store clerks on his way out, digging through the bag to hand Lapis her TM. Afterwards though, he turned his attention to the Floette. "Okay, Lapis, I've got a question for you..." Darren started brightly, feeling around his satchel once again for the warm, smooth stone he needed before bringing it out to show her. "I know it's a bit sudden, since you only just recently evolved into a floette, but this stone can help you evolve again into a florges if you want." Darren explained. "You don't have to if you don't want to, but..." Darren hesitated for a moment. However, he put his own feelings aside. "N-no, this is your decision. What do you think....? Would you like to evolve again?" Darren offered the stone up, and Lapis' eyes glittered at the prospect. It was tempting, the stone called to her. It wasn't really a matter of whether she wanted to or not, because she absolutely did, that was out of the question. Was she really ready to evolve again? That was the struggle she was facing. It felt rather soon, almost too soon, she wasn't sure if she could handle it, but Darren seemed so sure and excited. She would trust his judgement. She crept forwards, gently accepting the stone as she took it in her hands. The familiar warmth tingled through her veins as she grew and changed form once again into a beautiful blue florges.
"W-well...? How do I look?" Lapis asked, and Darren practically gawked. Not only was she beautiful in her final form, but now she was talking....? "W-what is it....? S-stop looking at me like that, it's embarrassing...." She murmured sheepishly, holding a delicate white hand over her face and shying her gaze away from Darren. "You look beautiful Lapis." Darren said honestly, practically beaming as he scanned her with his pokedex. "How are you talking to me though? I didn't know you could do that!" He inquired. "Wh.... You must be able to use telepathy now!" Darren explained. That made sense then. "Oh? Is that what this is?" Lapis inquired curiously. There were so many new weird things she had to get used to now. For now though, she exploited her larger size to give Darren a proper hug, which surprised him at first, but he certainly wasn't opposed. "Thank you Darren~" Lapis crooned, nuzzling the top of his head. "H-heh... You're welcome." Darren managed, a goofy smile on his face. "Now then, one more present, and then it's off to the pokemon center." Darren insisted, handing her the heart scale he'd bought. "Oh? It's lovely Darren, how shall I--" She started to ask, however the scale crumbled away before she could finish, and Lapis was suddenly stricken with grief. "Ah!!! I'm so sorry! Walking into the pokemon center, Darren returned Lapis, Flynn, and Zephyr to their pokeballs, handing them over to Nurse Joy for the time being so that they could be taken care of. In the meantime, he made his way down the hall to the back where the recovery rooms were, planning to check in with Jin at first until he passed Sable's room and noticed that she was no longer laying down on her bed. He practically jumped to a halt, spun around and quickly let himself into her room. "S-sable....!" Darren wasn't sure what to address first, his own surprise at her being awake, the gifts he had for her, or the fact that she shouldn't be trying to sit up. Ultimately, he quickly set his shopping bags down on one of the visitors chairs along with his satchel, then moved to her side, urging her back down to make a point of the latter. "P-please lay back down. Goodness gracious, you shouldn't be sitting up in your condition. C-certainly not without someone watching over you...!" Darren insisted. "Did you need something? I could um, see what I can do, but... I... Ah..." Darren didn't want to overload her with information. He took a breath, giving her some space, and tried to slow down. "Just.... Try to take it easy, Okay....? Heh... You c-can't scare me like that." Darren chuckled nervously, shifting his hands into his jacket pockets casually. One moment, everything was fine. Sable was feeling fairly sturdy and had managed to get herself to a sitting position. The next, she was letting out a squeak and pulling the blanked up over her to hide from who had just called out her name and barged into the room. Not because the person was intimidating; she didn't think there was any possible way for Darren to intimidate her. No, it was because after coming to terms with it being possible she actually did kiss him on the cheek, she did not feel very good about talking to him quite yet.
Her stomach suddenly started tying itself in knots as Darren insisted that she go back to laying down."Y-yeah... I guess so..."she begrudgingly agreed as she lowered herself so that she was once again flat against the bed. She had pulled back down the blanket enough so that she could see what was going on, but she still kept the lower half of her face covered. She felt the heat on her cheeks and was definitely opposed to Darren seeing how badly she must have been blushing. He would still be able to notice her wince when he mentioned her scaring him with sitting up."S-sorry... I just wanted to... See where I was..."The teen's voice trailed off as she gave what she felt was a rather lame apology.
The heat on Sable's cheeks died down some as Darren asked about how she was doing. She managed to give a sheepish chuckle at the male's reaction to his own question."You and Nurse Joy will disagree with me, but I'm actually doing fairly well,"she claimed, lowering the blanket and giving Darren a small smile afterwards."Really, I've been hit with a lot worse than a leaf storm before."She was being honest about that part, but she was lying about being fine. Even though the source was long gone, those curses and hexes were still causing Sable a lot of pain. She wasn't about to admit that to Darren, though; not with him already being worried due to her incident with the... Whatever that thing was that was smothering and suffocating her.
The desert trainer felt like she needed to change the subject fast and she didn't feel like bringing up what was really bothering her at the moment, so she went with a topic that might be a bit safer. At least, she hoped it was."So, uh... Where's Jin hiding? And the rest of my team?"Now that she was thinking a bit clearer, she had thought it odd that the dark type hadn't come crashing in along with Darren. Or beat him there, for that matter. She was also aware that her pokeballs hadn't been on her belt when she woke up, so obviously someone had taken them.

At least, until he got broken in... And then other things happened to re-break him. Just in a good way the second time. XD

Alex Cross Water Pokemon Trainer
Alex was glad to have met another interesting trainer. He thought it was a really good idea for somebody like him to want to become a pokemon professor. The thought of learning so much about pokemon felt like a monumental task. Alex was happy that anybody wished to know that much, he always did admire professor's, but knew that wasn't the right path for him to follow. The least he could do though, was to help by asking questions whenever something came up. Pokegear's really were handy. For now, he wanted to focus on preparing for the trip back to Cerulean. Alex planned to travel a different way, Mt. Moon was eventful, but he wanted to explore more of Kanto. With that in mind, he headed for the pokemon center, but his eyes looked toward Blastoise who followed along. Sure, she was already strong, but he had collected a lot of items on his travels. If he used his pokedex, he might be able to find a way to help his started become really strong. "I'd rather not make a big scene, so lets head around back, to the battlefield." With that said, the trio headed past the pokemon center and to the battlefield that was always nearby. Blastoise wasn't too worried about what Alex had planned, but it would be fun to train since usually she would rather be sleeping.["Big scenes are usually loud, that's a good idea... I'm sure it'll be interesting."]She said as they arrived at the battlefield five minutes later. Nobody else was there at the moment, so this was perfect timing.
Alex stopped when they had peace and quiet and removed his bag, before setting it down on the ground and opening it. As he crouched down, Eevee jumped back down to the ground and stretched nearby. The small normal type was interested in what Alex would be doing with his strongest pokemon. Just how strong could he train Blastoise to be.["I have no idea what you're planning, but as long as it helps in the long run, then good luck."]Eevee spoke to the both of them, Blastoise was easy to get along with and she knew that Alex would be better off this way. Reaching into his pocket, he took out his pokedex and opened it up. Next, he rummaged through his bag, removing items, scanning them with the device. It felt like it had taken a long time, but Alex had taken out four different items. "Alright, that should be enough, first, you can eat this snack." He said while getting to his feet with the items and holding out a big mushroom for Blastoise. "This will help you learn a really strong move, Hydro Cannon, so think of that while you're eating." Blastoise was kind of hungry, so this was a simple task for her. She took the mushroom from Alex and tossed it into her mouth, before eating it happily. Nothing happened on the outside, but Blastoise felt as though she had forgotten something, but it was replaced by a really powerful water move. "Guess not everything shines and sparkles like when we met Cresselia." Alex said with a laugh, before moving onto the next two items.
He held two disc like devices in his hands, both contained TM's that Blastoise was capable of learning. "These TM's will help, instead of Ice Beam and Water Pulse, these are Blizzard and Dark Pulse. I think this combination make sense." The water trainer said while giving the two disc's to Blastoise.["...Alright, I'll trust in you."]The large water type pokemon said, before taking the disc's. It didn't take long for them to both shine, before breaking in her hands. The could only be used once after all. "They were supposed to do that, now then, this last one in interesting. Apparently, only Blastoise's can hold onto it." Eevee perked up a bit when Alex spoke of the Blastoise only item, what the heck was he talking about.["Now, this I have to see."]She said as Alex replaced the Mystic Water that Blastoise carried, then replaced it with a strange looking stone. As soon as he did, Blastoise began to glow a bright blue color, much like she had when she evolved. Alex's eyes opened wide at the sight. "W-What's happening? Blastoise's can evolve?" This really would be a question that Darren might know, but that would have to wait as he looked on. Slowly, the evolution had stopped, Blastoise was still there, but looked different, there was a large cannon that was coming out of the shell and was positioned above her head. A smaller shell was developed over her arms with a smaller cannon on each. The eyes had also changed in color, to red. Alex looked on in disbelief as he started to love water pokemon all over again. This was his favorite pokemon, but this version looked so amazing that he didn't even know what to say. "W-Wow... that's so... awesome. You look so cool." Blastoise was a little embarrassed by the way Alex has spoken to her, but she was glad that he was more than thrilled. Her eyes looked down toward the small cannon's as she inspected them and the giant one above her head.["I think you might be right... I think those new moves will work better..."]Blastoise said, not really knowing what happened, but thinking in was pretty interesting. Eevee on the other hand, watched on with a little less excitement, though for once, she really did think Blastoise looked cooler this way.["Congrats, this will help in the future for sure. Don't let the power go to your head, wouldn't be as funny as you sleeping all the time."] Eevee said in a way that was congratulations, but also allowed her to tease the water type.

Darren felt a little bad for catching Sable by surprise. Here he was trying to keep her from doing anything drastic and yet he was making her jump out of her skin. Little did he know that it wasn't for the reasons he'd assumed. He was curious as to why she was holding the blanket so high, but it wasn't totally unusual given the circumstances so Darren didn't think twice about it. Instead he focused more on just making sure Sable returned to her reclined position and gently scolding her for scaring him. She winced at that, apologizing and explaining that she just wanted to see where she was. Darren remained silent for a moment before exhaling into a deep sigh and shifting his gaze away. "No... You're fine. That's understandable, given the circumstances. I'm just...." Darren left the sentence hanging, unfinished while he shifted his weight apprehensively. "Overreacting. Shouldn't be too surprising. Frankly I'm surprised you're awake already, and I mean... That's great, but also.... Not.... Because you should really probably be sleeping and..... W-well... Did you at least get any sleep...?" Darren asked. If she was having trouble with nightmares again, he could offer up that feather...
That train of thought was derailed however as he focused on how she was feeling, which she claimed was better, though correctly assuming that Darren and Nurse Joy would disagree. A look of genuine concern crossed Darren's countenance, his eyes searching her for a moment before resigning into a reluctant acceptance of her words. She was the type that didn't like to show weakness, and Darren didn't blame her. He would play along with whatever she said to make her feel better, but he would do his best to make sure she at least didn't actually try to do anything that pushed her body too hard, too fast. Suggesting that she'd been hit by worse than a leaf storm didn't help his concern, though her words weren't any surprise given the scars he'd seen her with.
Sable changed the subject to Jin, something Darren was surprisingly rather willing to go along with. "Jin is in another room recovering from his own injuries. In the latest fight he sustained a few nasty injuries. I was actually going to check on him first because I'd just assumed you were still going to be sleeping. I believe your team is with him as well. He uh... Sort of became the acting trainer in your place, so when he was teleported back here, they all went with him I believe." Darren recalled. His memory of the whole fight was rather fuzzy, but he distinctly remembered Jin getting teleported out with the rest of Sable's pokemon. "They're all safe and sound, don't worry. I met up with Jin after I finally got out." Darren moved over to the shopping bags he'd set down, reaching in and grabbing a few of the berry pots he'd bought. "I battled Brock and then did some shopping, since Jin asked me to look into getting you some of these." He offered the pots to Sable. "Smaller size for travel, sturdy but still pretty lightweight. I ended up getting a few for myself along with some lum berries." Darren explained. "Also, if you want, I ended up winning a bunch of stuff from that hexer by betting on games of hangman, and I don't mind sharing the spoils." He grinned.

When Darren didn't respond, Sable's discomfort grew. She had thought just about anything was preferable to laying down to sleep or stare at the ceiling, but it seemed she was very wrong. She didn't like seeing Darren so obviously bothered, especially since she seemed to be the cause of his disapproval. When he finally did speak up, she didn't feel much better, but it helped keep her from feeling any worse. She understood why he wanted her to rest, but still..."I... I don't think it's a good idea for me to go back to sleep yet..."she started, then huffed sadly before trying to grope around for something to raise up the upper half of the bed at least a little bit. She didn't like lying flat, at least not when she was trying to look around or talk to people."I mean... I'd... I'd really not risk... You know... Not breathing anymore if I doze off..."she managed to admit as her blind search failed to find anything to adjust the bed. Which meant she pretty much only had the pillows to prop herself up.
At Darren's question, Sable frowned as she moved the blanket to a more normal position."S-sort of... I mean, I know I got some... But I guess I slept less than I thought..."A bit of pink was still present on her cheeks as she tried to bring herself to at least confirm what had happened."I thought I was out since a while after being grabbed by that cofagrigus... Or that I was... Well... I..."As Sable struggled to talk and her voice kept wanting to break, it seemed that attempt at explaining things was going nowhere, so she decided to switch gears and try a different approach."Did... Did you and Jin come visit me at some point...? In a, uh, different room than this one...?"At least that question, she could ask. If Darren denied it, then maybe she was dreaming after all and could write it off as wishful thinking. If not, though, she'd have a lot more apologizing to do.
Speaking of Jin, it seemed that he was, indeed, somewhere within the building. Sable had been confused by that, since she assumed that if he was there, he probably would have rushed into the room with Darren, but when told that he had also been injured, the sensations that hit her felt like someone took a baseball bat to her gut. The color drained from her face and her expression was one of barely-contained shock as she tried to sort out her thoughts about the bit of news Darren gave her. That girl had apparently sent Jin to the house, too, and based on the bits and pieces she was paying attention to, he and the rest of her pokemon had gone through a lot. But, he had been fine when she last saw him, since by now it had likely been made clear to her that no, she didn't imagine seeing the two of them. That meant whatever happened to him happened after she had slept, which, in turn, meant he and the rest of her team had been busy suffering while she was too weak to go help them.
"...Could... You... B-bucket...! Now!"She tried to make the request as nicely as she could, but had to turn demanding as the sudden bout of nausea brought about by her own thoughts made her have to roll onto her side, move her head off the bed, and expel what little had still been in her stomach. Not that there was much to let out, just the remains of breakfast and some bile. That didn't keep her from a set of dry heaves after the initial spew. She stayed like that for a while once the heaves finally subsided, shakily gasping for breath as she waited to see if it was truly the end of it. Only after she was fairly content it wouldn't start back up did she let out a tired sigh."S-sorry... I think it's done, though..."she apologized, trying not to stare at the mess that she had made. Either it was in a bucket or on the floor, but either way it was a mess and she didn't want the sight to trigger another bout by mistake. She didn't really feel up to laying on her back again quite yet, though. She wanted something to drink, but couldn't really bring herself to ask Darren to get something for her, so she just tried to ignore the taste in her mouth as she let her breathing get back to normal.
Once things had settled down again, she went back to laying down normally and Darren brought out some of the things he had gotten."Berry pots? I guess it couldn't hurt,"she replied when it was mentioned that Jin wanted him to grab the pots for her. She didn't exactly consider herself much of a gardener, but berries were useful."If nothing else, they should help with the snack budget,"she said jokingly before laughing briefly. She sounded fairly weak, but this time it was more from what just happened than her injuries. Then Darren offered to share a bunch of stuff that he had won from the creepy girl that had caused them so much trouble."Well, I'll take a look. But first... Could you help me with this darn bed? I do want to sit up at least a little bit, but I can't find the blasted adjuster... And it'll be easier on you, too, since you can just spread the stuff out on the foot of the bed instead of having to hold each individual thing in front of my face and wait for me to decide if I want it or not."She laughed a bit harder at that, then went back to trying to find something to help adjust the bed.
Eventually, it would get figured out, so Sable and Darren looked over the stuff that Darren had won from the hexer. With such an impressive collection, either Darren was amazing at hangman or the creepy girl was terrible at it. Either way, it was a surprise that the teen managed to carry the stuff around, so Sable was more than happy to lighten the load. There were a lot of choice items that she felt her team could use, such as a muscle band and a pair of wise glasses, and there were some things that she wanted just for her, like the bracelet studded with shiny stone shards that she spotted. And then there was the pile of snacks, which she split with Darren and set aside. She wasn't in any condition to eat them, but she knew Jin had a sweet tooth or thirty-two, and besides... He deserved at least some of them. The other pokemon deserved some, too, but she didn't know how well they'd like snow cones, sugar skulls, and pastries, so she grabbed a couple handfuls of rare candies for them as well. There were even a few balls containing pokemon in the pile, so Sable let Darren know she'd take care of the joltik and murkrow that were present.
After things were divided up and Sable was feeling somewhat more cheerful, she thought of something and started digging through one of her pockets."I, uh, have something here for you..."she started, then pulled out the pouch that she had picked up when she first started her journey. She pursed her lips briefly, then held it out so Darren could pick it up."That pouch contains some sacred ash. It holds a bit of ho-oh's power and can restore to full strength any pokemon it's sprinkled onto,"she explained, then frowned lightly."I'd like a little bit of it to be used on Jin to help speed up his recovery... But the rest, I want you to have."She took in a deep breath and let it out before trying to explain herself."I was scared. Scared that something happened to you. Scared that I wouldn't be able to see you again. Scared that if those ghosts got to you, that there was nothing I'd be able to do... I don't want that happening again.Her voice broke multiple times while she was talking, but she tried to ignore it. She had something she wanted to say, and she sure as hell wasn't going to keep herself from saying it."I know I'm not able to do a lot, either on my own or with help. But, if something like that happens again... I'll feel better knowing you've got that with you... I'll know that you've at least got a way to keep yourself and your team safe for a while longer..."Tears had been forming and trickling down her cheeks while she was talking, only to be wiped away each opportunity she felt them.

Darren tensed, practically paling as Sable suggested she didn't want to sleep because she didn't want to risk not being able to breathe once she dozed off. "Are... Are you struggling that much just to breathe....?" Darren asked in shock. If that was the case, the she was most certainly not fine. If there ever was ever a defining not fine characteristic trait, that was it. She'd just set the bar. He sighed, but decided to try and move on to a different topic, like just how much sleep she'd actually gotten, and the quality. She seemed rather unsure how to answer though, suggesting the quality was fine but she seemed to struggle with the full amount of time. She'd passed out from the cofagrigous' attack, and as she started explaining that, she suddenly switched gears, asking about he and Jin coming to visit in a different room. "Oh... Well uh, y-yeah, we managed to break you out of that cofagrigous and get you to a weird sort of pokemon center replica room. You were awake there, though I'm not sure how much you probably remember... You were pretty out of sorts until you finally fell asleep again..." Darren mentioned quietly, rather briefly and vaguely summarizing the events.
A part of him didn't want to recall the memory, it was hard to see Sable in that state. When Sable suddenly asked for a bucket however, Darren snapped out of his daze and quickly made a dash for the trashcan in the corner of the room. He hadn't been quick enough to catch the beginnings of Sable's upheaval, his brain having to take a moment to register what was going on, but his experience working with sick pokemon helped him with some trigger reactions to things like this. He quickly and calmly brought the can over to Sable, handing it to her so that she could hold it while he took care of gathering up her hair, making sure it stayed behind her and out of the way while she wretched. He couldn't handle the slightest bit of confrontation, and yet somehow he wasn't at all squeamish when it came to this sort of thing. Darren shook his head, clearing the ironic thoughts as he gently rubbed Sable's back, continuing to hold her hair until she'd gotten everything out of her system. Once she announced that she thought it was over, he let her go, moving towards the sink at the other end of the room. He dug around the cabinets until he found a stack up cups, taking one so he could get her some water. "You're fine, there's nothing to apologize for...." Darren chuckled lightly, taking the water over to her and trading her for the garbage can. "Drink that, you need to wash the acid off your throat." Darren insisted, not knowing he didn't need to since Sable already wanted the water in the first place. Now to take care of the mess on the floor... For now he just set down paper towels over the area and scooted the nightstand closer to Sable's cot, setting the trashcan on top of it for easy access, just in case.
Darren made a mental note to alert nurse joy later so that the area could be properly cleaned. Really he was just going through the motions. Clearly he'd dealt with this sort of situation more than a few times. Once she'd settled down again, Darren brought up the berry pots, which she seemed surprised about, but at least took a shining to. Darren chuckled at her remark about them helping with the snack budget. "That wouldn't happen to have anything to do with Jin's sweet tooth now, would it?" He remarked sarcastically and laughed. While he was on the subject of gifts though, he figured he'd give her a crack at his winnings from the hexer's games, which she seemed more than interested in doing, though she requested that he help her adjust her cot so that she could sit up comfortably. "Heh, sure." Darren agreed, snickering in a amusement at the thought of holding each item in front of Sable's face. At the very least, she hadn't lost her sense of humor. He didn't have a problem with her being propped up into a sitting position, he had a problem with her trying to sit up on her own with no one around, so to him this request was reasonable and helpful to them both. He took a look under the cot to see if it gave any indication of the mechanics, and sure enough, Darren spotted the control panel and adjusted her bed slightly under Sable's instruction until he'd gotten it into a position that Sable liked.
Once she was situated and comfortable, Darren took a seat on Sable's cot and unloaded all of the prizes he'd won from his satchel, which he happily shared with Sable. It was fun to sift through really; he'd forgotten just how many items he'd really gotten. There was even a mysterious incense he'd missed somehow, which he took for himself when Sable showed no interest in it. There were even some pokemon he'd missed, a murkrow and a joltik, but he was fine with letting Sable have them. He'd already picked out the Eevee and Aipom anyways, so it was only fair to let Sable have the other two. It felt like the more they sorted things out together, the happier Sable became, which was... Honestly relieving to Darren, though with all of this exchanging, it seemed to dawn on Sable that she had something for him too, some sacred ash. It was his, except that Sable also wanted some of it to be used on Jin. Darren certainly had no objections to that, but as Sable explained her reasoning behind the gift, Darren was honestly shocked at first. He hadn't realized just how worried she'd been about him. Her words were so heartfelt and sweet, he wasn't sure where it was all coming from, but he appreciated it nonetheless, feeling some strange mixture of happiness and concern. He took the ash, giving a soft, short, nervous laugh. "H-hey now.... Come on, everything turned out alright, didn't it? I mean, it certainly could have gone better. A lot better, but I mean, we made it out alive right? You don't need to cry... I'm here, I'm fine, r-really...." Goodness, his heart couldn't take much more of this. It felt about ready to burst from the sympathy he felt for her. He scooted a bit closer, gently helping her wipe her tears away. "These sort of situations are one in a million, I think we just got unlucky, but if it makes you feel better, I'll take it, okay...?" He smiled gently.
