〚Sypher was trembling as Masahiro reached for him, better prepared for it this time, but trembling nonetheless. His hands were shaking so badly he wasn’t even aware that he had gripped his throat until Masahiro touched him. But once again, he struggled to understand what Masahiro was saying. Not blame him? How...no, it was wrong. Masahiro was wrong. It was his fault, it was. It was his actions, his choices, that had brought him to this point. Had brought his village here. How could anyone not say it was his fault? How could they not blame him? That must be why...why I haven’t seen anyone...why I can’t find my son... his mind was spiraling so badly, falling apart around him. It was his fault. He felt dizzy, lightheaded. Masahiro was beside him now and, almost without intention, Sypher reached for his arm to steady himself. If Aika had been there, he would have reached for her but…She is with Honō. She...she should stay with him for the time being. he did as Masahiro said, though he struggled to breath. It would do no good if Aika came to him as he was now. This was more than he had trained her to help him with. More than she would be able to handle. And if, in this state, he hurt her...well. He closed his eyes, trying not to touch that darkness that threatened to envelope his mind. A quiet place. Yes...yes that was better than here right now. He swallowed back the feeling of distress and nodded sharply. As they walked, he made a motion to Aika who they passed Stay. Find me later. the wolf-dog made a concerned noise but stayed by Honō, tail wagging in gentle concentration.
It had been a lovely time. Aika had walked through most of the Academia with Honō and she had sniffed everything. She was worried about her master, he had not smelled well, but he told her to stay. So she stayed. At least, until she got hungry. Turning to Honō, Aika wagged her tail and then dropped her head down till her nose almost touched the floor. Bowing? Thanking Honō? Both? Whatever it was, Aika lifted her head and gave his hand a lick before trotting out of the Academia, snatching up the bag that Sypher had left behind as she went. She would sniff out her master and give him all the cuddles.
Honō had enjoyed the peaceful, pure energy of the animal companion, and gained a benefit of learning the layout of the Art Academy far more than if he hadn't had the opportunity to entertain the beautiful canine. Another such perk the Hokori had stumbled across was the Art Supply Store notice. Honō had followed the wolf-dog to the exit of the Academy to ensure she was seen off safely when he found the notice, informing students of requests for certain tools to be made for the store. After some brief inquiries with the reception desk, Honō had a list of items he could make for them.
A glass lens for magnification was an essential tool for smaller, more detailed work. Luckily, several other workers in the glass-blowing designated section of the forge were already at work. Integrating himself into the work flow, Honō gloved up and donned a well-used apron to protect his clothing and hands before positioning himself with another working keeping some clear glass heated in the furnace. Another worker was also there, and between the three of them, they worked to cut off, mould, and craft the tools and separately but smoothly. Honō would cut off a small bit of molten glass into a pre-made mould, quickly pressing it and sealing it shut before heading over to the kiln and sealing it in there to cool at a rate slow enough that the glass wouldn't fracture. Being fast, precise, and clean were of the essences with each of these lenses. A single air bubble, hair-line fracture, lack of material to fully fill the mould - all of it could turn the lens useless. Moss-green eyes inspected the molten glass that he snipped off into the mould. He ensure a little extra fell in place and the part where it was cut with the pliers did not land in the mould less some grit or dirt from the metal also make its way inside. Honō found that the Academy had several sizes available to make the moulds of the lenses. Some were only for jewellery-making purposes or the like, but each one could still be used as a tool once set into a ring or other handle. A larger one that Honō was currently holding was also thinner than the rest, making the liquid pour a little trickier to ensure it wasn't overly filled and still a clean press. Each time a mould was sealed there was always the risk of air getting accidentally trapped inside as well, denting the glass as it hardens and once it is in, the only way to fix it was to remake the entire pour. Carefully but quick, Honō closed the lid at an angle, pushing out the air from the one hole that allowed it, giving a smaller thud with his hand to settle the glass before placing it into a kiln to cool properly. Seeing a forge become free for use, Honō positioned himself there after gathering some clear glass and another few moulds along with him to use. These moulds were for beakers, specifically for scientific measuring. After heating up a large enough ball of clear glass, Honō will pull the rod out and press the molten ball onto the first part of the mould, quickly snipping the attached strand of liquid sand and putting aside the rod before pressing down the second part of the mould onto the first, gently, evenly, carefully, clamping it in place before using a metal spatular to scrape away the excess and quickly depositing it into the kiln to cool before any cracks could take place. Just like the lenses he had been making, these beakers were just as reliant on calm, quick work to avoid bubbles, cracks, and contamination. The next glob of red-hot glass was placed on an already warmed mould, enough to cover the mould, cut off from the rod in a way to minimalize contamination - or at least ensure that only the outside of the beaker was at risk. Weight was often an important fact, but not as much as keeping the glass free from bubbles. As he pressed the second part of the mould on, it was done with an even level of force, to equally distribute out the hot material before it was clamped and set aside in the kiln. A fracture in a beaker was dangerous for anyone using it, and meant it could break at any time. Hence why the glass was heated to a higher temperature and the moulds prewarmed so as not to causing an instant fracture in the glass as would happen if they came in contact with a colder surface. Honō pressing the glob of clear liquid onto the mould was a carefully aimed strategy as well, needing to minimise the chance of air bubbles that would ruin any chance of them being viable as measuring beakers and making them less safe to use as it could be a well of concentrated chemical hiding in there. A pressed, a swirl, then the quick clamp of the second part of the mould to close it together and the excess scrapped off. Another one done and set aside in the kiln. [ A-Rank - Actual Smithing! After re-applying yet more clear glass to the end of the heating rod, Honō warmed up the glob of glass to a red-hot temperature. It was glowing in its intensity, but paled in comparison to the furnace itself. Once it was ready, another pre-warmed mould was acquired and set at the ready, parts open and set up in a way for better efficiency. Pressing the hot glass to the mould, the naked eyes could see the glass instantly change colour as its temperature was suddenly forced to change. But Honō only watched it to make sure that he didn't have to immediately throw out the glass but, upon finding nothing immediately distressing, he simply sealed the mould parts together, scrapped off the excess, and placed the item into the kiln to cool safely. There was only one mould left that Honō had grabbed, warmed and ready to go. Honō double checked the intense red colour of the molten glass. It would eventually cool done and become clear, but for now he had to make sure he worked fast enough to press it down onto the mould and seal it up before the sudden temperature change would make it unusable in a variety of ways. It had to be soft enough to scrape off the excess and soften itself on the edges slightly before being placed in the kiln, where it would slowly cool and prevent any fractures from occurring, so long as the glass was even and undisturbed. 装 : Thigh-length, white, cotton haori has its sleeve cuffs edged in a blue strip of cotton. The hakama is cotton as well, with a gradient dye, going, top-down, white to a matching blue. The string ties, or 'himo,' are strands of glass beads, clear in colour and translucent. A matching necklace of these beads is worn around the neck. Underneath the haori, held up by a belt disguised under the tie of the hakama, are several pouches and a blade that, in any normal person's hand, would be would be described as a short sword. The hilt was clearly carved by hand, made of bone, yellowed with age. The blade bore jagged edges on the backside ( a boning edge ) while the other was razor sharp, curved wickedly at the end to act as a gutter. Stamped in the centre of the blade was a bear's paw surrounded in strangely shaped leaves. Traditional tabi, are also worn, marking this individual more of a civilian than a Kumogakure shinobi.

Honō needed a break from the furnaces. Even living above a glassworkshop, the heat was draining and he needed to replenish his fluids. He had taken a moment in the Academy's cafeteria, resting his eyes and limbs after ingesting some water and a bottle of juice as well. Some time to breathe and cool down left Honō realising he still had the energy for more, but knew he couldn't do too much more with a furnace involved. He took off through the Academy until he came across the rooms set aside for aspiring tailors of all kinds and accidentally ran into a few students whom were also taking advantage of the school's request for students to supply items to sell.
Not being the most proficient in such a skill set, Honō offered to be their aide, of sorts. Getting familiar with the workspace they had claimed for themselves, Honō helped clear away any left over mess, learning where materials and tools were stored in the process. Loose threads were swept away into a small bin kept under the work surface before heading over to the wall of fabrics and materials with one of the two aspiring Tailors to help carry over the desired material. Honō returned to the other aspiring Tailor, arms full of rolls of fabric and set the against the side of the counter, where a few racks and standing poles where, allowing the material to be safely settled there without it rolling away. At their call, Honō opened up one of the drawers and pulled out a pencil and measuring tape, passing it over before heading off to another side of the room as they had indicated. There he had found what they described as stencil paper and tore off a large sheet before gently, carefully, returning it to the pair so they could start tracing out the design and measurements that they needed. Once the stencil was done, Honō was asked to pull out one of the rolls, double checking it was the right one, before placing it on the table for the other two to unroll. Handing over a measuring ruler instead this time, as well as a pair of scissors, Honō held down the material and carefully as possible. His imposing height making it easier to lean over the work table and press down on the stencil placed over the material with dislodging either. The pair took turns cutting the material, moving around him or passing the heavy scissors across the table while Honō remained practically motionless. Once the cutting was done, Honō carefully took the paper stencil and set it aside on a chair tucked under the table, keeping it safe from anything crushing or tearing it as it was going to be used again. The cut piece of leather set aside, Honō was asked to retrieve a certain type of ribbon, made of sturdy cloth and kept wound up on a roll. Grabbing one that matched the description and name given, as printed on the face of the roll itself, Honō returned to the two Tailor's and handed it over, where they unrolled it to certain lengths and cut it before taping the cut sections to prevent fraying. As the two tailors went over to the sewing machine, Honō gathered up all of the offcuts of leather and fabric, placing the larger pieces into a bin for use in other projects while the smaller, insignificant cuts were placed in the bin. Loose threads as well were swept into the cannister before the floor was quickly swept. The pile of dust, thread, and yet more off-cuts were gathered up in a dustpan and then deposited in the bin as well. Honō saw that the area around the sewing machine was also a little untidy, seeing the Tailors having to move objects around or sweep away something. After walking over, Honō found that there were loose threads and a few shreds of fabric and little plastic and metal wheels littering the place. The wheels were picked up and placed into a drawer filled with more of their kind - bobbins the name was. The threads and fabric were all gathered up to throw into the bin but some still littered the floor. Being careful not to disturb the tailors, Honō swept the floor and gathered up the small pile of dust and threads with a single sweep of a dustpan before depositing it all into a bin. Honō was requested to get another needle for the machine, the one left in there not suited for anything to do with sewing through leather. With some brief instructions, Honō approached a small cabinet, filled with tiny cases of plastic. In each case was a little holder for the needles of the sewing machines. They were sorted by brand, then by some number Honō wasn't familiar with but seemed to correlate to thickness and length of the piece of sharp metal. Honō scanned over the plastic cases, occasionally picking one up to double check the name and number written on them before he finally found the one the tailors were after. Picking up the case, Honō returned to the tailors and watched and listened as they explained how to change the needle in the machine. The needle they took out, however, also needed to be returned to its own case, which was thankfully left with the machine. Placing the needle in the case, Honō returned to the cabinet to put it away. The cabinet full of sewing needles was, roughly, in order of brand then smallest to highest number as written on the cases. Honō double check the number on the case he was holding before placing it where it belonged among the rows of plastic cases. Returning to the tailors, Honō took up a place on the opposite side of the machine, holding one of the ribbons out of the way to prevent it from being tangled or otherwise getting in the way. Honō stayed behind after the straps had been sewn into the leather, cleaning up the several bits of loose thread that had been cut off after each finished stitch. Lifting up the machine and settling it off to the side, slightly, Honō found even more dust and debris was hidden beneath the warm hunk of industrialised metal and plastic. Grabbing the dustbin, Honō swept it all up and away into the bin set at his feet before replacing the machine back to its former position. Honō returned to the work table and was asked to now unravel a fabric material, tough but pliant under his touch. Laid out across the table, Honō handed over the stencil once again, this time as well also pulling out some fabric chalk for them to mark lines on the fabric. The stencil was a reference, showing where and how many pockets they intended to install in the smock they were making. They intended to make more than one so Honō set aside the ribbon as it was going to be utilised again later, the straps to tie the smock onto oneself. Once the lines were made, Honō placed the stencil aside and pulled out some of the scrap pieces of leather for them to use on their bequest. Some of the scraps were long or wide enough to be used as lining the rough edges of where they intended to cut the smock to make the pockets. Handing over the ruler, Honō watched as they measured, traced, and cut the material, this time with a scalpel Honō was able to locate in a drawer of the work table. Honō once again used his height to hold the fabric flat and down, though the tailors were able to utilise pins this time in the less thick material to pin the new stencil down and trace the outline. Once the lines were down, Honō again took the stencil to safely store on the chair under the table, little more than a rectangle but useful in saving time for their next smock and keeping it all uniform. Honō handed over scissors and rolled up the material once it was done, placing the leather smock on the table for the material pocket to placed on it and a line traced onto the back of the leather. Honō handed over the scalpel and ruler, watching as a thin, straight rectangle of leather was cut out and set aside to be used at a later time. The tailors quickly sewed the pocket of fabric the lining of leather onto the pocket before folding and stitching the edges of the smock, making clean lines along all the edges. After passing over the snippers to cut off all of the loose threads, Honō was quick to step over to each work station to clean it up and ready it for the next project. Honō swept away the loose threads left behind at both stations, once again gathering the larger pieces of fabric and leather to save, set aside in a special container. The smaller, useless pieces were tossed into the rubbish bin. The broom was once more picked up and used to sweep across the floor, picking up more dust and debris than Honō originally suspected before they were swept up by the dustbin and dumped into the rubbish bin as well. Honō noticed there was rubbish hidden in the fabric basin next the work station, tucked under the rolls of leather and taupe. Dust bin in hand, Honō lifted each roll and quickly swept out the bottom the basin, though most of it landed on the floor. Setting fabrics back safely in the stock holders, Honō just swept up the fallen thread and dust with the small hand-held brush into the pan and then into the bin. Honō unravelled the leather once again at their request, underside up. After handing over the safely protected stencil, Honō leaned over the table to use his height and wide arm span to hold the supple material down and completely flat, preventing it from rolling up as the tailors used a pencil to outline the stencil onto the material. Fabric pins would ruin the leather, as well as be unreliable to stay in place, so lines were drawn on where to cut including the openings for the pockets. Once the lines were drawn, Honō remained in place as the tailors used the scalpel to cut the leather free. They occasionally passed the blade between themselves, working around Honō's slender frame as well as the angle of the lines drawn. Once the body of the smock was cut free, Honō passed over the stencil for the smock's pocket and again held down the leather for more lines to be traced and then carefully cut out. Once all sections, including lining for the pocket, was cut out, Honō rolled up the leather and handed over the ribbon of material that would be the straps. Honō handed over scissors and tape for the ribbon, watching lengths get measured, snipped, then tapped off at the ends to prevent fraying until they were run through the sewing machine at the end. Then he put away the roll of ribbon and instead unrolled the material the tailors were using for the inside of the smock's pocket. handing over the stencil for it as well. This time, Honō didn't need to hold the material down, instead just picking up any runaway fabric pins before either handing them over or putting them back where they belonged in their little screw-top container. With all the pieces cut out and gathered up, Honō quickly took to cleaning up after themselves. There were scrap pieces to check if they were useful or rubbish, threads that needed sweeping up, and tools to be put away. The drawer was opened to put away the sharp tools, not needed the scalpel to roll off the table and under someone's foot. The same with the scissors. The sewing machine they had been using earlier was now being used by someone else, so Honō gave this new one a quick sweep, spotting loose threads and other debris as seemed to be the usual consequence of sewing with any material. Sweeping it all into the bin under the work table, Honō then went to retrieve the correct needle for leatherwork once again. The straps were the first to be sewn in, Honō helping by standing on the other side of the machine, holding the rolled ends to keep in place and stop it from further fraying. After the first one was sewn in, Honō was then in charge of holding that strap out of the way while also making sure the end of the second one was treated like when the first was initially being sewn on. And then the third strap, till finally the fourth and last and all four had their ends stitched in a way that they wouldn't unroll to reveal the ends and fray. With pale hands holding the straps out of the way, Honō watched as the hetian-like material was held in place, pinned, and then ran through the machine as well, a pocket held in at the edges of the opening. Honō had to retrieve a scalpel for the sewer to make a few small incisions at the edges of the smock. The edges, thank to these incisions, could then be folded over and stitched down with thick, resilient threads, holding it in place and protecting the raw edges from rubbing raw and fraying. The corners got a few goings over, sealing it in essentially and also protecting them. The sewer went all along the edges of the smock, sealing it in and giving the article of protective gear a much nicer finish then if left as it was. Honō cleaned up the station after the smock was done, cleaning up the snipped loose threads into the bin provided. The needle also needed to be returned to its case to make it easier for the next person to set up the station as they needed it. ∷ Aika ∷ [♀] [¹ ½]
Aika pranced by the academy, her tail held high and ears perked. Syy was somewhere behind her, walking slower than she, and that was fine. She knew that his episodes took a lot of his energy but that was why she was here! She was almost past the academy entrance when a familiar scent stopped her in her tracks. Nose going straight up, she did a comic back up and immediately pushed her way into the academy lobby. Was it..? IT WAS! Her friend! Aika was bouncing on all fours as she came up to Honō, her nails making soft clicks on the floor as she tried to hold back her excitement. But first. Politeness. Aika's dark nose came forward to tapped Honō's knee gently to get his attention and then she did a play bow, rump in the air, tail wagging, waiting for permission to greet him. Syy had trained her well. Her golden eyes were excited and she was only slightly ignoring Syy's voice outside the academy as he tried to figure out where she had vanished off to.
Honō was seated with a straight spine and straighter hair, his profile prim and proper despite only contemplating what - and where - to have lunch. Maybe it was getting closer to dinner so he should - dark green eyes blink and the Genin tilts his head down to find a great, beautiful, big canine at his side once again.
"Aika," The Hokori greeted, holding his hands forward slightly in a return greeting, allowing Aika to sniff or nudge or otherwise convey what she wished to him. "It is lovely to see you again." He smiles, pale, thin, lips appearing fragile in the delicate expression.

At the use of her name, Aika left the play bow to jump, front feet in the air, and wiggled with joy at being seen. As Honō offered his hands, Aika pushed her whole body into him and looked up at him adoringly, her tail thumping. She squeezed in as close as she could and started licking his face and neck before booping his nose with her own cold snoot. Her little yips and whines sounded like a toddler chattering about how tedious her day had been and her tail kept going as fast as it could.
"Oh! Uhm, h-hello Honō-san." Syy stood awkwardly to the side, one hand holding a 5-stack bento and the other hand was rubbing his upper arm. He'd taken off his jacket and he felt exposed being inside with other people. Folks stared less outside than inside but Syy had tracked Aika inside and so inside he went. At least Aika went to someone he knew. Keeping a careful hold on his bento, Syy gave a small bow from the waist "I hope you have been w-well." his fingers fidgeted a bit along a particular scar on his upper left arm, unsure of what else to say. Aika solved that for him by immediately nibbling on Honō's sleeve with big puppy dog eyes. Syy gave a tiny frown but "Aika is in-inviting you to join us." he lifted the bento as illustration "There is plenty. Uhm, but, if you're busy, you d-don't have to. Uh, re-regardless, you are wel-welcome to j-join us." his voice was sincere, but just as awkward as himself. Lack of sleep made him seem downtrodden, dark circles under his eyes giving him a worried look.
Honō's mouth parted, letting out a gentle, trickling glass of a laugh before closing it once more as Aika enthusiastically greeted him with canine kisses. Seeing her agreement to being physically close, the Hokori slid off the bench so his arms could wrap around and rub the offered fur without having to bow his back, not wanting to make the four-legged friendly companion feel like she was being towered over or cornered. The long, billowing length of Honō's sleeves were still neatly and tightly wrapped up and tied up at his shoulders, so even more skin was available for Aika to smell and mouth at. A tall shadow fell nearby and dark green eyes looked up at hearing someone speak so calmly and close by.
"Sypher-san," Honō greeted in return, standing up to bow as well. Freed from the long strands of silken fur, the sliver-like sluices of scars were also revealed on the Hari's arms, though they were only to be found glittering along his hands and forearms, barely perceptible against his naturally pale complexion. He paid no mind, nor even a glance at the Senju's own collection - natural as they were to him as breathing. "Very well, thank you -oh." Honō turns his gaze down to Aika, trying to decipher the tug on the folds of his hakama - thankfully Sypher knew straight away and translated the wolf-dog's actions for the clueless Kumo-nin. Again, the genin bows, what loose strands of hair escaped from the tied-up knot hanging free and moving smoothly along with his actions.
"Thank you, Sypher-san." Again, that delicate, easy to break, smile came over the glass-blower's features. "I would not want to be rude and refuse such a kind offer. I could buy us some drinks or extra food so I do not take away from yourself or Aika." He offered, sensing something a little easier now than the last time he talked to the man. Calmness was needed perhaps. Honō can provide that at least.

Sypher mimicked the bow automatically, his own hair tied back in a relatively untamed braid that had dark and white pieces of hair loosely flying. He straightened as Honō agreed to join them and felt a slight lifting to his chest. He reached out to ruffle Aika's hair, briefly entering Honō's personal space, before stepping back quickly with an apologetic look "Ah, dr-drinks would be very nice, my tha-thanks." he replied, trying to return the smile that Honō gave him. It was...not very successful as it was too tinged with sadness but it was warm, friendly, at least "Aika has h-her own, so she won't b-be lacking." he pointed to the bottom three bento sections, indicating that their contents were entirely devoted to feeding the wolf-dog. Aika in turn was grinning and quickly moved to stand beside Syy, looking up at Honō with mild adoration.
Carrying two to-go cups of hot tea, Severin had made his way across the village from the hospital to the academy, humming a song softly under his breath as he went. For whatever little foresight he had, he checked with the front desk to confirm that Hono was there that day. The lady had mentioned that he would be in his usual spot, the glassblowing workshop. Severin thanked the lady with a wink and began his trek through the building to hono's location. He hadn't seen him since they were introduced at the hospital, but Hono was one of the only few people Severin knew here... beyond Shi, who he was sure was far too busy to indulge in his nonsense.
"Hono, I thought I'd-" Severin turned the corner into the room, only to stop. He had heard voices, why hadn't he waited outside the room? Instead, now he was standing in the doorway to the workshop, staring at the back of Sypher Senju's head. He hadn't even thought that he'd run into Sypher here, of all places. The medic would have dropped his cups if his whole body hadn't tensed at that very moment like he had been electrocuted. This soon? "Ah... ********... " Before he could even process his thoughts, the words spilled out of his mouth.
Idiot idiot idiot.
The last thing Hono needed was to be yanked into his shitty personal life. He remembered the flinching during his exam, the sadness, the underlying trauma. Severin's left foot shifted, as if he was about to turn right back around and walk out. He was imposing, again. He just wanted to check on his goddamn patient.

Honō's smile appeared to widen at the acceptance of him acquiring some drinks for the two of them, a small hum of happiness seeming to softly vibrate from his chest. "Do you have a preference? I'm sure hot drinks are available as well." He offers, hands overlapping in front of hismelf in a loose, relaxed manner, as though taking such a posture was natural for him.
"Water, too?" The Hari clan member adds with a pointed, gentle look to Aika but his attention is soon diverted before even receiving an answer. Another voice had called his name, bringing bright green eyes to turn and find Severin standing not too far away, the sight of which pulled thin, pale, lips apart in a smiling greeting - before the words died on his tongue.
"Severin?" Honō spoke, concern, some fright even, tinging the tone of his voice. The medic wasn't looking at him - it was clear where he was looking due to the proximity and lack of other stationary individuals in their proximity. With a small, apologetic, peace-begging bow to Sypher, the Hari-clan member before turning to approach Severin with gentle, calm footsteps. Standing at the medic's side, only partly obscuring the apparent object of his stress, the Hokori continued.
"Severin," Honō repeats, low and relaxed, concerned but open to removing himself. Pale hands, littered with the slivers of razor-thin scars that glistened under the fluorescent lights above, reached up without any air of hurrying to softly lay his fingers in between the Raigyo's, touching both cup and skin and silently communicating - hopefully- through his touch to release the cup and perhaps relax his grip on the other one.
"Did I worry you too much?" He speaks softly still, implying their conversation was wanting of some privacy. "After the last time we spoke." Silent communication, an offer of an excuse to leave.

Hardwired to guard Syy against threats, Aika wrapped herself around Syy's front to look behind him as a voice cut through the air. Her ears were alert, eyes interested, nose twitching, at the newcomer who was another white haired not-Syy. The scent of tea and stress mingled, setting her fur on edge because it was what she was trained to watch for, after all. But her attention was diverted as Honō moved, eyes tracking the other male who came between Syy and the new individual. That action prompted a reaction from the wolf dog, who associated Honō with Syy. Unfortunately, Honō's actions, standing between Syy and the other person, told Aika that the new person was a possible threat to Syy. The words, the tone, that followed only reinforced the feeling and she moved to stand completely between Syy and the other two individuals, eyes on them.
Syy had been trying to think of drinks, listening to Honō list some, and really not wanting hot tea. How they could stand drinking hot tea in the humid air of Konohagakure was beyond him. He always felt overheated. But a voice, distraction from Honō, and then a foul word. Syy turned, feeling Aika move around him, stopping half way, his gaze on the other man and his breath catching. The other man. How appropriate. He could feel a sick heat rising in his throat, burning, a deep emotion that Syy knew could not be allowed out. But...didn't he have a right to feel this?

Inka's voice was in his head again but Syy took a moment to remind himself to breath and to beat the voice, and the words, back into the deep darkness within him. Syy could still tell it there, waiting to overwhelm him, if he let it. And he briefly considered giving in. Rage, anger, violation, hatred. Hatred? Syy focused on his breathing, trying to process the last of these emotions. Could he actually hate a man he had never met? A man who, at least according to Inka, had done nothing other than be there? Honō's voice cut through his thoughts and he focused on the name. Severin. He had a name now, not just some nameless presence that seemed to be haunting his steps. He felt Aika stiffening and his hand moved, gently, pressing her ears down, the signal that it was all right. With his approval given, Aika came forward to sniff at Severin's pant leg as Honō spoke, her tail wagging slowly as she investigated the smell of hospital and coffee. Syy briefly considered simply walking away, leaving the man with whatever emotions he was feeling. It was a deserved cruelty, wasn't it? But as Honō and Severin spoke, quiet though it was, Syy got a sense of who Severin might be, might really be. And all the thoughts and decisions whittled down to a single one. Mindful of the bento, Syy...bowed from the waist, his braid falling forward over his shoulder, to Severin "He-" his words caught, trying to choke him, but he kept on anyway "He-Hello." straightening, he took a step back to give the two men privacy to speak, giving Aika's tail a tug to get her to come with him. He stood a step away, with Aika resting on the floor and look wistfully at the bento.
Severin was still all tension and nerves as Hono moved over to him. He could see it in Sypher's eyes, in his companion's stance. Anger, vitrol. He hated him, didn't he? Of course Sypher hated him-- the other man, the one flirting with his husband. He felt his throat constrict, his body tensed more, he-

Gentle cool fingers on his caused him to break eye contact with Syy, panicked blue hues flicking down to look at Hono's hand on his. Sev then looked at Hono, willing himself to breathe. Focus, Severin, he told himself. Like your therapist taught you. You can see Hono, see the ground, see the glass furnace, see the dappled light from the leaves outside, see the cute little dog Sypher brings with him... He started counting things off, taking a deeo breath through his nose.
He looked a bit paler than usual, but was able to force a soft smile to his face. He relinquished the cup of tea to Hono, then turned to Sypher. The astonishment at the former Mizukage's bow was plain on his face, quickly followed by a sea of guilt and sadness filling his eyes. He was a horrible person, wasn't he? He returned with a bow of his own, hoping to show he wanted no hard feelings here.
He just wanted Inka to be happy. Whatever that took.
Straightening up the medic stratched the back of his neck. "H-Hello... sorry to intrude. I-i just wanted to check on Hono... he saw me some time ago for an issue. I was hoping to follow up." The short haired male absent mindedly reached down to give Aika a scritch, his head turning to look at Hono. He stayed as generic as he could for the other male's privacy. "That tea should give you some relief from the pain. It also helps with blood circulation."

Honō had a very distinct feeling that he was standing in between... something. Something very charged - teetering precious porcelain ready to topple and crash at even a feather's touch. But after glimpsing the look on both the older males' faces as they greeted each other... the Hari clan member could only picture that unseen analogy, the towering structure, to already be comprised of shattered pieces. Honō blinked and looked down at the cup, the height difference and his hair still being tied up meaning part of his features were still visible.
"Thank you, Severin." He speaks, tone a little sad but also hopeful. "I did not mean to worry you so much." A shinobi who fails the basics - whom failed the most basic measure of aptitude - causing extra work for those around him once again. Still. He was able to summon that fragile smile once again as he tilted his head up enough to look... slightly down... at Severin. "Was there anything you needed to ask me? I haven't had any symptoms since." He reassures quietly before taking a sip of the tea, after breathing a small whisper of cool air over it first.
