I use to be obsessed with them in 7th and 8th grade.
Kind of fell out of love in 9th.

Green Day has very weak instrumentals, but decent lyrics, and fantastic vocals.
Could stand to use more than beginner guitar chords and power chords.
Maybe throw in some guitar solos instead of everything being rhythm guitar.
I dunno if there actually are any solos, so don't bite my head off if they are, I just haven't heard all of their songs.

Not to bring things down but... I don't know what people see in this band. What makes them so great to you guys?

I can't actually tell you specifically. Everything about them and their music really. Once I started listening to them, I couldn't stop. I got all of their albums and loved them. It's kind of a preference thing, I guess. Different people like different things, obviously. Some people see something in Green Day that you don't. I bet there are probably some bands or artists you love that I wouldn't see anything special about. They're just, my kind of music, I guess.

Green Day helped me clean my room at 2 AM this morning mrgreen

American Idiot (the album, not just the song) is great for that, somehow. Don't ask me how that works, it just does.

My absolute favorite band.
I grew up hearing them, I really liked their stuff.
But I didn't hear them a whole lot, really.
But when I started getting into discovering my own music, and listening to the radio, I would hear them, and I thought they were really good. Theirs were some of my favorite songs on the radio, although I can't say I knew they were all theirs.
Then, one night, I heard Give Me Novacaine on the radio. The DJ said that it was from Green Day, who were coming out with a new album, called American Idiot. In all honesty... I quite liked the song, but I was a bit intimidated by the album title.
Then I bought Dookie. I'm not sure it was entirely because of that, but it had peeked my interests, and I realized I knew some of the songs on the record, and liked them, so I bought it.
A few months later, I bought American Idiot.
After that, the rest is history.

:/.
I think the lack of nutty solos is part of what makes them great.
Honestly, I think if there're solos everywhere it weakens the sound; takes away its impact.

I grew up with the older Green Day (Dead Beat, Keep 'em separated) so I find their newer songs (Holiday, American Idiot) less appealing. They just sound so different!
Favorite Song: Minority
