I agree with fallenshadow, there IS a state attached to the city.
I am from Syracuse, NY, but I currently live in the boring state aka Utah.

I live in typical American suburbia. Not exactly interesting. But quite a few good malls around here.

I lived in NY (Long Island) with my husband very briefly until we moved to Ohio. I almost moved to Boston, but that fell through. Originally, though, I'm from North Dakota. None of you know boring until you've spent any significant amount of time in eastern ND. I've also lived in MN.
As far as places I've been to, well I've been to almost every state east of the Mississippi, partly because I drove from ND to NY, then NY to OH; partly because of my (former) job as a flight attendant.

I've been to New York (state and city) a number of times. I really don't like New York City... at all.. It's dirty, congested, and the people never seemed to be very pleasant. I won't lie though, there are plenty of neat things about NYC.
I am from Chicago, so I am sure that has an impact on my opinion of NYC. Chicago, in my estimation, is fantastic! It's hard to get lost because of how it is organized (walking that is) and it's clean. Even better, (downtown) there is so much to do - from Navy Pier (a tourist trap btw) to the Museum/s and the Art Institute (which is a must see if you ever get the chance). I heart Chicago!

I've lived and travelled all over and currently am living in Washington state. Been to New York City and Rochester, NY. Would say the former's worth a visit and the latter is...um, quaint. wink

I live in Utah (No I'm not LDS/Mormon). I hate it here but if you like outdoor activity and National Parks you may like it here.
