I suppose it can take some getting used to... It's just another way to divy up turns, and square-enix is big on being different right now. Or something like that. Bah. At least it's better than what they did with FF 8. I appologise if anyone is a die hard fan... Laguna is one of my favorite characters, honest. I wasn't a big fan of the draw system, or the fact that limit breaks were basically gaurenteed at critical health (Just press triangle until a limit pops up. Honest.), or the fact that all your foes level up at the same time as you do. It pretty well meant that the best, easiest, and fastest way to beat the game was to be extremely cheap. *sigh*
But it would be odd if they changed the FF7 battle style for the FF7 re-release. Just... odd.

I have to start playing again and it is my second favorite battle system. My top three favourite battle systems are.
1. ff tactics for ps1
2. ff 12 for ps2
3. ff 10 fo ps2 (i liked the ability to switch members during combat)

's funny, but the only thing I rememeber about FF 6 was that there were a lot of different characters... Couldn't even say if it was turn based or active timer. There are a diverse number of abilities to use, though, which at least makes gameplay varied.

the battle system used the ATB gauge system!
You taught spells to your characters using magecite which allowed you to summon monsters and spells were learned as you fought with the magecite equiped (similar to ff7 materia system)! Other abilities could not be learned and where only possessed by certain characters! It was a fun game! smile
