Carnival Cruise to Alaska The engineer is fascinated by how quickly the ship can be turned by the thrusting engines... good thing they don’t allow me to take the helm, or we’d be spinning donuts in the open sea just so I could figure out the turning radius, or we’d be rotating in place while I found the center of the ship. But really, I was very interested to see how persistent the vortices in the water were. Each vortex was formed by the thrusting engines as the ship was turned in leaving the port. *laughs* That’s the update from the nerd on cruise...

One of the funnest things I've done locally that wasn't a concert was going to the bookstore. Yay, bookstore!

I went to Borders to buy a book and they had Fantasy books under Scifi!!! It took me 10 minutes to find my book cause I went through the whole store trying to find the Fantasy section and it just wasnt there!
So I am now boycotting that Borders (Its really a Borders Express..so smaller than a real Borders)
I call upon all of you to boycott any book store that puts Fantasy books in the Scifi section. OH THE HORRORS! OH THE TRAVESTY! gonk

MrBobVilla Scifi conventions? Museums? Other things? So post about what you consider to be a nerdy place or what nerdy places you have been to! I think a Star Trek convention is about the nerdiest you can get... stressed

This summer, I went to a LOTR convention. I wore a Pippin costume. Which I had made myself. I read a C++ manual on the way. My friend warned me not to overdose on geek before we even got there.
