If you ever fly to Cancun, and take a drive south to a little resort called Akumal, always ALWAYS get one of the little cabanas along the beach and never NEVER stay in the big house at the end of the row. That place is infested with ants, and nobody in the resort staff is willing to do anything about it. Also, if you happen to be snorkeling in the reef in the same area, don't get too close to any of the crevices between the rocks, or an eel will try to bite your face off...

DON'T fly Alitalia, if you can't help it. They're the airline o' DOOM. Every trip I've heard of has had a bad experiences with Alitalia (my school Latin class has a trip to Italy every other year, and I went in June). First off, they don't let you on some trips listen to devices like iPods (no one cared on my flight, but apparently on another flight...). We had a 10 HOUR flight from Italy to the airport in the states. Guh.
Then, they have a penchant for losing bags. It's fine if one out of 35 or so get lost, but if 6-7? No way!! On the trip, our (the group's, including mine) got held-over, for some reason, in Milan, an hour (flight) away from our airport. Alitalia says that they'll get us our bags that night, so we're happy, go to the hotel, and go out. That night? They say that for the six of us to get our bags, it'll cost 100 Euros (approximately $125) that night. We opt to just wait until the morning and not have to spend that much money.
The morning? They change it until afternoon. It ends up that we don't get our bags until the afternoon of our 3RD day there. Grr.....
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Italy. biggrin Best travel place, ever, In my opinion. Just try and get there without Alitalia.

Never ever ever EVER! Fly on days they set new security measures. My church youth group was headed to Ecuador for a mission trip, and we had to be at the airport eeeeearly. So, I got up at about four and turn on the news. Guess what? New security measures! No big deal, right? WRONG! We spent four and a half HOURS in the security line, missed our flight to Quito, almost had to sleep at the airport in Houston, and eventually got into the capital of Ecuador at 10 PM the NEXT day. It was a nightmare...

I've done very limited traveling but what I can tell you is,
if you're flying to Sweden and actually want to eat the dinner they provide, DO NOT fly Iceland air. They give an alright breakfast but I swear, the chicken was a sponge!
Also, when I was rather young, my family was taking a trip to Maine with my Aunt Claire (she lives in Maine but she rented a cabin for us for the time we spent there). Now, I don't know if it's just my Aunt or all Maine inhabitants, but the trip took like, 6 hours to get to the middle of NOWHERE and as we were driving down these long, deserted, roads in the backwoods of Maine, my Aunt kept saying, "Oh it's just a little further. About five more minutes."
She said that every twenty minutes or so for at least an hour and a half. stare

If you're in Paris and you're looking for a filthy and disgusting hostel, look no further than the 3 Ducks hostel. Featuring all sorts of wildlife like mites and rats, you won't be lonely at night! (Especially in bed! crying ) I never got to see the mites myself, but I saw some rodent-like animals party in my room and when checking out, the girls in front of me had nothing but positive things to say about the healthy population of mites that partied with them all night long! In fact, those little buggers physically left their mark on their skin. WOW.

Alaska Airlines. They're pretty bad about getting their flights on-time, terrible services, and their ports are always overcrowded.
My worst experience? Sitting behind an elderly couple with bad gas on an airplane. The air was contaminated, humid, smelled, and it was just so loud with those jets....

Only half an hour? I have to arrive two HOURS early for a flight. They're so slow and this faux security really bugs me. They tried to say I was a terrorist for wanting to keep my sketchbook (a new, blank, leather-bound sketchbook) in my bag.

We still have to get bags xrayed etc. Its just not as officious as in Nth America.
