R'in of Bronze Demodeth

Seeing everyone out running like this really emphasized how many hours the two of them spent carving. R'in wasn't in terrible shape by any means, but he rarely exercised when he wasn't forced to and it showed. Everyone was passing them, either that or they were falling down.

    Please watch your wings, dear.

    I'm trying to get ahead.

But you keep falling back so that I can catch up. You don't need to go any faster. And I think you're tripping up the others.

The hmph that R'in heard in the back of his mind was familiar and amusing. At least the bronze was willing to keep his request in mind.

4-5. You're not fooled by the size of the Weyr Lake. You know it's deceptively large, and is a lot wider than it seems. You pace yourself, knowing full well this is going to be all about stamina and the long haul. [+2 Point] If you're in Average Shape, go ahead and add one more point, because you're definitely on the right train of thought! [+1 Point]

Points: 6

2-3. You start off strong, feeling very good about this run. This Weyr Lake isn't that big, right? Look at you, passing everyone by. [+3 Points] If you're in Great Shape, add another point because it's smooth sailing from here. Look at how awesome you look, taking the lead. [+1 Point]

Glancing between the distance ahead of them and the occasional glance to the ground beneath her, it's with a small ooze of pleasure that Niviora realized they weren't doing bad at all. Sauzath's wet steps beside her are a creature comfort, and no doubt she'd love to spoil her dragon with a hot bath once it was all said and done.

And I cannot wait for it. The dragon's distaste for the weather was clear, but a task was a task -- and even then, who was she to not grasp at a chance to show off herself?

Stamina was best to reserve, but putting on the speed early on never hurt.

1. You manage to catch yourself, but do wind up a good bit more muddy.
2-3. You lose your balance, and tumble right into a fellow weyrling. Quote the player above your roll (or the first player that isn't you), and let them know you both wind up tripping into the sand. (-1 point each -- it doesn't matter if you're using different grids.)
4. You actually fall, and in your attempt to catch yourself, hit the ground hard. Picking yourself back up, your wrist is sore--better watch it to see if it gets better or worse. Ouch.

Aerden and Blue Tianxiath
Fit/In Great Shape
3/3 first leg
Points:9

The slick ground was adding a whole new level of challenge to the run, and Aerden could already feel how it was beginning to tax his strength. Mind over matter, he thought to himself as he forced himself to keep going. No focusing on his labored breathing. No focusing on the fire in his legs.

Do you know how handsome you look right now? You've got that rough, grungy thing going on. Maybe I see why you like running now. Tianxiath crooned, trying to keep his rider's spirits up. It was, at least, enough to get a grin and a huff of amusement from the former mercenary.

Quote:
8-9. Keep on, keeping on. As you run, you're doing your best to pace yourself. You're panting and breathing hard, but know you're stronger and more capable than you think! Your dragon sends you some positive encouragement, keeping your mind on the task at hand. [+3 point]

8-9. You're just running. It's wet, and you're cold, and neither pleased nor displeased by all of this. At least the Weyr Lake is pretty in the rain. [+1 point]

Her clothes were beginning to get thoroughly soaked by this point, but at least they weren't weighing her down too much. Though the shimmering expanse of the Weyrlake caught her eye, rippled with every rain drop and scattering the reflection of the silver and grey clouds into multitudes of fast-paced ripples.

It's becoming my favorite place for a reason. A small spark of joy radiated through their bond, though briefly.

Fahn may have been a stamina-and-energy beast, but a lot of what the lessons in training had reminded her was that she needed to learn to pace not only herself - but Alenciath. Sure, the green was still running free with delight, but Fahn would start with herself first. Even if she just wanted to run as free as her dragon did.

We can run together later! Lots and lots! Always! Alenciath sent her supportively.

Ty'nan and Blue Chinanazith

First leg:
1. 10 -- Demodeth wingflap trips Ty'nan, +0
2. 7 -- just not feeling it, +1
3.
Chinanazith:
Points:1

Once he was back on his feet, Ty'nan took off again. His comfortable lope wasn't so comfortable now, and he found himself trying to catch his breath. Maybe that fall had knocked the wind out of him too...

Quote:
6-7. This. Sucks. Not only are you wet and cold but running? Really? You've only just begun and already you're panting for breath. You can tell this is going to be a very long run--and even if you're known to be a runner, for some reason, you're just not felling it. [+1 Point] If you're in Poor Shape, add another point, because you know when to listen to your body, and not push it. And right now, it does not want to be pushed. [+1 Point]

Aerden and Blue Tianxiath
Fit/In Great Shape
Tianxiath roll!
Points: 8

Tianxiath, to be fair, was not paying as much attention to things as he probably should have been... As his blue brother paused to make sure his rider was all right, the larger blue accidentally barreled right over him! Hopefully he hadn't caught him with his claws. You know what they say! Greatness stops for no one! Was that.... supposed to be an apology?

Aerden was going to have to make amends later.

Quote the weyrling above you and let them know their fate. It's very possible the offending dragonet might want to retaliate! Rawr! [-1 point]

Fahn and Alenciath
Fit/Active/In Gr8 Shape
3/3 Fahn // 1/1 Alenciath First Leg
Points: 7

(Alenciath roll!)

Quote:
Your dragon is flapping and jumping and rolling and tripping. They have so much pent up energy they wind up hardly knowing which way to run. Sometimes it's ahead of the pack, sometimes they turn around and run back at their fellows, honking and generally having a green-eyed good time. While they're noisy, and possibly a road hazard, they (thankfully) wind up avoid running over anything more than sand and puddles.

Romp, romp, run! Alenciath was having a great time and her enthusiasm spilled readily over to Fahn - and really everybody else who would take an ounce of it too! The rain was fun! It was fun to run! Wasn't this a good time?

Honk! Hwenk! She zipped to and fro thru and in front and back to her siblings like the high energy creature she was. Fahn was at least gentle in her reminder to be careful, which Alenciath was...for now.

Quote:
8-9. Your dragon is too distracted by puddles to want to race. Quote the weyrling above you, and start splashing them with mud and water. This does wind up affecting both your own rider and the fellow weyrling. Your rider might be upset (or distracted) and the weyrling you just splashed might be feeling irate, or some other emotion. You're all even more soaked. Boo. [You both lose -2 points]

The Weyrlake proved to be too tempting, and with so many puddles around... Oh, they looked like so much fun. Stomping through a puddle made such a delightful splash, that soon was followed by another, and another...

Niviora almost slipped as she stopped, turning to watch her young dragon stomp and play. 'Come on love, let's keep --' The thought is cut off as she watches Sauzath jump into a larger puddle -- and into Fahn and Alenciath, as well as all over herself. "Eech, sorry Fahn, Alenciath!"

There's almost impishly playful delight, even as Sauzath shook herself out and sent a wave of warmth to her sister. Sorry Alenciath. That just looked like too much fun. Oh, she could see her sister's delight in such games.

Nashwa and Gold Ilaorunth
Fit / In Great Shape
First Leg 2/3
Points: 4

After her fall, there was a lot of unpleasant squelching, and she was sure she looked a fright, but Nashwa couldn't be bothered to care about that. Her focus was entirely on making up for the lost time such a poor start had cost them. Well, almost entirely - she did keep an eye on the others, and she was far from the only one who'd had some trouble. Hopefully they'd all get through this with nothing more serious than a coat of mud.

R'xa and Blue Isteth

Well. It was not as though R'xa had expected to excel at running, particularly when she happened to be running next to Isteth and also in the rain. Still... it really wasn't the absolute worst to see the Weyr like this.

Quick, R'xa... everyone's distracted. We could basically do anything we wanted to do! Isteth opined.

"No, Isteth!" Shards. The last thing Orry needed was for Isteth to decide to get into trouble here of all places! Somehow he'd find a way to try to pin it on poor Triesteth, and she just wasn't going to let him. Not like Orioth was ever fooled.

Fit / In Great Shape
First leg:
1. 10 -- Demodeth wingflap trips Ty'nan, +0
2. 7 -- just not feeling it, +1
3. 2 -- feeling strong, +4
Chinanazith:
Points: 5

As he ran, though, and the heavy rain started washing off some of the mud, Ty'nan began to feel better about this race. He'd run longer distances at Dolphineer Hall, and over beach sand, which was a lot harder to run in than wet grass! His confidence (and wind) restored, he fell into a run again, determined to catch up. And take the lead, which he did!

Fahn and Alenciath
Bodied by a Gold
Fit/Active/In Gr8 Shape
1/3 Fahn // 0/1 Alenciath Middle Leg
Points: 5

Quote:
You thought you were doing well, but an errant weyrling winds up running right into you! While you're certainly not trampled, both rider and dragonet wind up tangled and muddy! Randomize Publicy an Active Weyrling to see which Weyrling was the offender and quote them so they know!! (Only choose those that are participating in the game!) Then roll a D-4 and see what happens!

While splashing was all good and fun to Fahn, being run over by a Weyrling was, uhhhh, less fun. Ow.

Quote:
You fall and twist or pull some muscle. By the time you pull yourself up, you can tell something isn't quite right. Roll a D4 again. Odds you really jacked something up, and will be out the rest of the game. You must be taken to the healers by a fellow Assistant Weyrlingmaster and are out the rest of the game. (You will also be out at least a sevenday healing, and might be held up longer. If it's a break or a bad sprain, this could affect when you graduate, do first flight, etc. Up to you if you want it that bad or just a sevenday off.) Evens you'll be limping the rest of the run, but can carry on--even if you're in a foul mood due to pain.

It was Illaorunth - who, admittedly, was a very big girl, which had meant Fahn had maybe half a chance Between to maybe not be fairly bad off for being run into by a baby dragon. And really, she had, like she would have in any situation, peeled herself back up.

But it was Alenciath who stopped first - dead in her tracks from her free bounding around her sisters and turned back with yellow and white eyes. As the green turned, Fahn stumbled and went down again. Though she was still alert and conscious.

MINE!

Her concern would be readily telegraphed as the small green went bounding back towards her rider, keening softly and laying her head in the sand next to her. Fahn reached up and brushed a hand over her dragon's snout, banishing the yellows and whites. "Hey, now. We both know I'm okay," she assured, even if she was fairly sure that something wasn't supposed to bend the way it was, currently. "We'll get patched up real good and be back before we both know it!"

But she likely wouldn't be rejoining this race.
