Mel didn't join in the laughter this time around, only sighed heavily. This is really what is preventing us from getting back sooner? he thought to himself. There was a part of him that was terrified that his potential bride-to-be would have moved on. He hadn't anticipated being out for so long, but he did learn a lot while out on this viking. Especially on how to corral idiots.

Since he didn't want the ratels for himself, he took a few steps forward and whispered into Cadwgan's ear. "Huh?" Cad jumped, not expecting the rather stern male to suddenly be in his ear like this. Let the idiot take some form of credit for the words, even if it was a bit obvious who they came from. "Oh... ohhhh."

Mel finished what he was saying and took a few more steps back, doing his best to not make eye contact with anyone at the moment. Not even Nanna.

"We can guarantee you a meal and shelter each day!" the blonde lion said with a stupid smirk on his face. "I'm sure it isn't all that easy to get food in your belly each day, but we can do it. And then you wouldn't have to worry about any other lions coming into your den like this! Come with us...?" His statement started off strong, if stupid, but he was losing his mild confidence the longer he spoke.

Mbegu stared as the two blue lions accomplished what the pale morons couldn't and pushed more compelling arguments.. but he wasn't interested in just walking away with some random lions, or he didn't think so.. definitely not without Menya. They already worked together to have a pretty decent life out here. While it was clear the message was being considered, he chose to follow Menya's lead and backed up until he was at the edge of the burrow before turning and scrambling back in.

What a weird day it had been for them.

Ivar wasn't surprised it ended up this way, though he was surprised that Snorre and Cadwgan seemed incapable of understanding how to negotiate with thralls that required more cooperation. Especially since Snorre already had a snake.

"Guess this didn't work out," Ivar said.

Snorre frowned, looking like he was seriously considering trying to reach into the den again, but then he shrugged and walked over to Nanna, giving her a swat.

"What was that?" he grumbled, "You knew that would happen."

Nanna dodged the swat, smiling and silent.

Oh well.

"I think the snake outwitted us all," Melkofur said with a grumble. He knew he had a good idea going when he went out to find his own snake. They were smart, and it was very obvious that she chose to stay with Snorre of her own free will. Perhaps this humiliation was a bit of her payment for her years of service.

"Damn it. Do you think they'll consider?" Cad asked Snorre, looking to Ivar as well. Mel had tried to help him but it hadn't worked. Maybe if they had bartered from the beginning....but no one (except Nanna) had realized what they were dealing with until after he got his tail fluff chomped on.

"Consider, maybe. But do you really think they'll wanna stick around with an airhead like you?" Mel asked.

"Hey!" Cad shot back, not appreciating the implied notes that he was an idiot. He was just... living life to the fullest, yeah!

"I'm sure they'll be able to find us if they want," Ivar said, shaking his head, "All the noise we make.. we should probably get back to the Captain. This might have taken up all the downtime we had."

It would only be another day or two before they got home and nobody should be surprised if the Captain was tired of them all. Like Melkofur was certainly tired of them all, and Ivar was starting to get tired of this all.. it would be nice to be home again, even if he was just coming back to his mother and sisters.

"Yeah, let's go," Snorre agreed, grabbing Nanna and tossing her onto his back so she wouldn't go off on her own and find anymore traps for them. The snake let it happen and draped lazily over her master's shoulders.

"It wasn't as bad as it could have been," she commented, hinting that she expected trouble but was pleasantly surprised by the end result, "We'll see what happens."
