" ..." The grin dimmed just enough to hint at the discomfort her innocent inquiry inspired in the youth, his mind briefly flickering back to those he could claim as parents and where they were resting now in ash and soil respectively. Even the old hunters back there, rotten as they were, held to trend didn't they? Adults really just... " .. keep dying." His own words, murmured softly though they were in the loud forest around them, startled him as his thoughts escaped along his tongue and gave voice to his too-honest answer. She saved him from this awkward moment by healing him, the magic earning a jerk of surprise and a few moments of slack-jawed awe as he felt the pain ease under the warmth of her touch. " I'm normally better at hiding but I couldn't see any other way to get him off you, it just kinda happened. Does it hurt you to heal people like that?"It was childish to focus on her ability in the face of the darker concept of danger but.. well, he didn't have much experience with magic and certainly no one had used it on him before. Plenty of people tried to tell him how to survive on the other hand... So his mind side-stepped the good intentions of the comment out of youthful stubbornness.
Her stare was heavy and the simple, sincere worry she expressed started to creep under his pelt and no doubt under the lush fur he would've blushed in unease at the situation. The lady was nice despite whatever it was that had her so cautious towards people, she looked strange and she wasn't a merchant as her gear clearly marked her as some sort of warrior so it made sense 'why' thugs and bandits targeted her.. But did any of this really have to do with him? She kept saying 'us' and 'we' so maybe.. The boy averted his gaze and his fur bristled a little along his shoulders in a clear sign of embarrassment, a soft footstep carrying him backward away from her touch as he gently prodded his chest to banish the lingering tingles of warmth and magic along his fur. He couldn't let himself lean on that kindness but he felt safe enough to prod her knowledge from the short distance he'd put between them. " Just call me Remi, please. I'm not sure I understand.. but you say 'kinsmen' and 'what we are' like that means something. What are yo--... We? You act like we're not human or something." He wasn't a idiot, Nan didn't have fur and Thane often teased him about his appearance as if to toughen him up before the reactions of strangers could hurt him too badly. He felt human, acted human, did everything he knew to do as human... but maybe by asking her he could finally put a name to everything in him that 'was not' the human he'd been raised as?
Za’Vira smiled and replied “hurt? No magic when used properly doesn’t hurt the user, if used improperly can have serious repercussions. Magic takes years to understand and even more years to fully master.” She continued to sit there even after Remi stepped back from her, it was clear he had questions, though the questions presented she couldn’t say she didn’t see coming “we aren’t human Remi, and there are plenty of humans out there that aren’t afraid to say so, though the hunters and those afraid of us would likely call us Abominations simply because of what we look like” she held her tail in her hand while she spoke “” Za’Vira got more comfortable and wrapped her legs around her so she sat better before she continued “Our kinsmen are a proud people, and honorable, and even though they tend to be peaceful to all they are just as capable warriors as the humans.” Za’Vira stopped to look at Remi with care, if she understood anything it was that Remi had been disconnected from his own kind, if anything she considered it a blessing that Remi had run into her when he did as it was likely he would have never understood why things happened, though it was still quite concerning as to what may have happened, clearly he had been raised by a human, but what of his parents, or his kinsmen for that matter, as she would have understood if anyone would have left the safety of the borders there would have likely been quite a few that would have left.
The more she thought about it the more she started to wonder if something had happened back home, but she wouldn’t dwell on it too much, if anything she had a child to look after now and like it or not she was the only one who could help him, and watch over him. Fate had a funny sense of humor, she left so that she didn’t have to settle down and raise a family and yet like it or not she was going to have to take care of a child even if he wasn’t her own flesh and blood. The more she thought about it the more it seemed like the right choice and eventually she spoke up again “Remi I believe it might be best that you stay with me, I can look after you for the time being until we’re able to make the trek back to our own lands, I don’t know when that might be but at this point in time it would be preferable over being on your own.” She wasn’t sure what to expect at this point.
Blade met him at the edge of the forest, two horses nearby, each with a travois set-up attached to them. They were ready to pull whatever they managed to catch. It was obvious that the horses were used to this kind of trip with her. They didn't need halter or reigns, just the hook up for pulling the catch back to the castle.
She watched him walk towards her and wondered at the fact that she hadn't wanted to separate from him, even to make the arrangements for the hunt. She didn't know it, but like h was experiencing, she was almost dealing with the feeling that they were already Mated when they weren't. They weren't bonded in any way. And the sensations disturbed her, though she was doing her best to hide it.
She had to admit that he was very nice to look at: strong, masculine, sure of himself, certain in what he wanted, able to take her over when he needed to, but also gentle on a level that she'd never experienced before.
She finally shook herself a bit and motioned to the forest behind her, "Come on. We'll hunt what we come across. General rule these days is Boar, deer and fish. Populations have increased enough that they need to be hunted down a bit," she told him simply then hesitated just a moment.
She did finally give in and shifted to her cat form, a black leopard. In the sunlight, it was easy to see the black spots in her black fur, but in the trees she'd be almost invisible. She turned her eyes to him and revealed that they were a startling gold with emerald flecks around the inner line and brown around the outer line.
She was also just a little bit smaller than the two horses, but still larger than most leopards.
She twitched the end of her tail as she looked him over, gave a grumbling huff at him, then moved on into the trees ahead of him. He'd have to watch her for a bit, but it seemed that the cat was going to let him hunt with her...

Wulfric was relieved to see Blade, though he didn’t show it, the walk to the edge of the forest had his anxiety at an all time high, he couldn’t understand why and it made the situation that much more concerning, he didn’t say anything when she told him what they were doing, and watched as she changed, her scent was clear even in cat form and it made things easy for him to follow. Though almost without warning the Wolf decided that he wasn’t going to have any chance to hunt and changed immediately, his clothes once again being shredded which would piss him off once he came out of it, but his crossbow hitting the ground the belt with his bolt carrier sliding loose at the sudden change and hitting the ground as well, the only things seemingly not having fallen off him were the sheathes strapped to his forearms which were designed to adjust in the event that he changed suddenly. The wolf looked at the horses understanding what they were there for as well as the instructions that Blade had given them, looking down he did at least collect the crossbow and the bolt carrier and put them someplace that would keep them safe before he trailed after the cat, his eyes better attuned to the shadows around the trees, her scent very strong in his nose as he followed initially walking on two legs as he causally caught up with the cat, though he quickly shifted to all fours as was normal for the wolf when he needed to move fast and track at the same time. the Wolf wouldn’t let Wulfric have all the fun since the cat was the object of his curiosity he would keep pace with Blade, his eyes scanning around, his nose as much aware of blade as he would be if he caught the scent of any particular wildlife that was their target animals.
The cat gave a growling hiss as he shifted form and started following her, though she moved on anyway. She was going to hunt. And if he spoiled it, he'd have the claw marks to remember why that was a bad idea.
She moved through the trees for a good while, then jumped up onto a lower tree limb that lead to an entire walkway up in the trees that she was obviously used to using. Of course, that meant that he was stuck on the ground...
A bit further in and she took to moving a bit slower and quieter, already tracking prey. She finally sighted a small group of deer and sighted down on the bucks, pausing in the trees as she narrowed her focus to just one. She waited for the right moment, then dropped from the tree to take the buck down, her weight snapping his neck instantly. She left the body to be collected later as she moved up into the trees again.
In all honesty, she was hoping for a boar or two... Though it was looking more like she wasn't going to get that lucky. There were just too many deer hanging around...
Another couple of hours and they'd pulled down four apiece as they moved through the forest. It was then that she caught the scent she was looking for: Boar... From the smell of it, there were more than a few of them.
But there was a complication...
Apparently a group of idiots, meaning poachers, had taken up residence in a clearing about a hundred yards ahead of the tree she was in. Standard rule on the island was that Hunters and poachers were fair game to kill since they'd already been warned to stay off the island.
She dropped to the ground and waited for him to catch up with her. Then she shifted to her human form, thankfully still wearing her clothes, "Poachers ahead. Fair game," she told him, hoping he'd understand what she meant by that as she pulled two of her daggers and started stalking in human form.
She was wanting to take out the sentries first, then the main group. That was the way she usually did it, anyway. She wasn't used to working with a partner, though....

Wulfric stopped by Blade and understood what was going on, placing a large hand on her shoulder to get her attention and pointed in a direction opposite to their location on the other side of the clearing. The Wolf might not be able to speak but he knew how pack tactics worked, and would instill a little of that knowledge on her, pointing at himself he then pointed down indicating he would wait there, and then point at her then indicated that she should go around. He’d motioned towards the poachers that he would attack from this side and get their attention, and brought his hands in to show that she should come in from behind and attack when they are fully focused on him, considering his size and the fact that he was all white, it would be nearly impossible for him to sneak in without being detected, had the wolf not taken over picking them off with his crossbow would have been a likely tactic, but since that wasn’t an option he would have to play decoy and shoulder the brunt of their attack until Blade could come in from behind and catch them unaware. Even as a wolf it was clear that he was somewhat concerned, and wrapped his arms around her giving her a hug before he stepped forward heading towards the clearing though staying just within the trees so that he could stay hidden until he was certain that Blade was in position for the attack. As he part with Blade who he was sure would be on the move he took a moment to gauge his foe, he could see at least five sentries on the perimeter but he was curious to know how many more there were within the camp and took a deep breathe before he howled. The call of a wolf caught their attention instantly and watched as he saw at least four more come into view though wasn't sure if that was all, most of them pointing in his general direction, it was clear that he at least caught their attention, though some of them were carrying firearms, others conventional bows, this group understood where they were and were prepared to deal with threats like him, which meant he had to be very careful.
Hoping that she was in position, Wulfric bowed his head sighing slightly before he Howled again which caught most of the poachers attention, stepping out into the clearing his white fur shown for all to see in the sunlight which caught all their attentions immediately, understandably he knew what his fur meant to them and would likely attack in the hopes of being able to take his fur from him, growling slightly he stepped behind cover as shot flew past where he stood a moment ago, growling even more he waited until a group closed the distance before he took off in a run to make it look like he was fleeing the area. Glancing over his shoulder he howled again his fangs out he took off into cover to make it look like he took cover though in the trees they would be hard pressed to immediately notice him moving very low to the ground and circling them. The one in the back carrying a long rifle lingering close to the edge of the treeline would be his first target and when he got close to him he noted that the others were lingering around the tree he had been at moments ago and trying to figure where his tracks were going. They didn’t have to wait long when Wulfric growled catching the attention of the gunman grabbing the barrel of the rifle easily keeping it from being pointed at him, a shot going off from it as he buried his fangs into the poachers throat, blood spraying all over his fur the others realizing where he was too late charged him in force in an attempt to draw him out of the trees in into the sights of the others. Very well was all he thought as he coaxed them to get closer appearing to be stepping backwards which would likely attract the others attention immediately.
The first assailant carrying a nasty looking sword charged Wulfric, if he had to guess silver, he would have to be careful fighting them and when the poacher swung the sword at him he ducked under it and lunged at him his hand grabbing the wrist breaking it so that the sword would fall, the man screamed as he ripped the man’s throat out leaving him drowning in his own blood as he dropped him and deciding that he had played decoy enough was going to close the distance with the two remain attackers and rushed forward as one drew a pistol and took aim firing at Wulfric with three shots impacting against his chest, the shots burning which told him that they were silver, he’d have to finish his foes quickly and try to get the bullets out before he had an allergic reaction which was threatening to overtake him already, he rushed forward the shooter missing his next shot but not getting a chance to fire again as Wulfric slammed his claws into his chest and killed him instantly, moving the corpse in the way the last attacker plunged a sword into the body and then struggled to pull it out, Wulfric growling threw the body aside, the sword with it, the poacher drawing a knife just in time to see Wulfric leap forward and land on top and slam him to the ground the knife being dropped immediately as he stopped up and slammed his foot on his chest breaking bones and caving in his chest, his weight being pressed on him and watching the life fade out of his eyes. To be sure that he was indeed dead he knelt down and ripped his throat out with his teeth before he stepped forward back into the light though the pain starting to become increasingly difficult to ignore, Wulfric dropped to his knees and using his claws started dipping out the bullets on by one doing his best to be quick about it. Wulfric managed to pull out two bullets but he was struggling to get at the third and glanced up to see another poacher rushing towards him, and starting to get concerned that he wouldn’t be able to take this assailant out let alone the bullet that seemed to be buried deep in his chest.
Just as he thought he was done for, a dark blur crashed into the remaining poacher. A fountain of blood showed that his jugular vein was now draining at a high rate of speed. While he'd managed to take on quite a few of the poachers, she'd had her own issues to deal with.
She'd started out fine, sneaking up behind them and slicing throats. Dead easy for her. Most of the time she moved like her cat anyway and had to be warned to make noise so she didn't scare the crap out of people. But out here in the forest, she was pretty much silent.
Then one of them got in a lucky hit and she lost her temper. She shifted over to her cat and went on a killing spree that involved alot of throats and a few that were strangely still alive, though they wouldn't be for long. Yes, she'd attacked a few very viciously but left them to die slowly. And once Wulfric saw what they'd been hunting, he'd probably find her actions justifiable.
They'd been hunting the local wolf pack...
The cat turned to look at him then chuffed in annoyance as it advanced on him. Partway there, she shifted into the feline half-form. That one was oddly almost humanoid in appearance, but gave grater flexibility to movements.
The cat moved fast to dig the bullet out of his chest then tossed it before he could notice the silver burning her fingers. After all, they'd heal. From there, she helped him with the rest of the bullets in his hide. But she wasn't gentle about it. And when she was finished, she simply moved on to release the few animals still alive in the camp.
The place smelled worse than the poachers did, to be honest. Her claws made quick work of the cages and released the cubs, finding that they were old enough to find the den on their own as long as they stayed together. From there, she moved on to releasing a bear, two cats, a fox, and a few other smaller animals. Those were still alive.
But it was the skins that held her temper the most. Way too many had died and she knew each one of them personally. Thankfully, they weren't Were's or the hidden Demonicus pack. But it had been bad enough..
In the end, she shifted to her full leopard form and started tearing through the place, completely ignoring her own wounds in the process...
But she really hated poachers...

Wulfric growled a bit when she pulled out the bullet, and followed as she went back into the camp to free everything there, it was a shock to him that they’d done so much, which made him wonder just how long they had been there. Shaking his head he growled annoyed that so much death had happened had occurred so close to the castle, though he was distracted by the destruction of the came that Blade was causing but what’s more was the injuries she had as she continued, he couldn’t quite tell how serious they were but then again any injury warranted a once over to make sure they weren’t bad, moving he caught up with her in between strides and grabbed her which not surprising had incurred her wrath which found him on the receiving end of claws that dug deep, barking in as he growled he pinned her down to the ground and started doing a once over to check her wounds, all the while bleeding more than he might have otherwise due to the now pissed off cat that was using him to sharpen her claws on, and leaving deep gashes in the possess, but as much as the pain was he continued checking the wounds, and thankfully relieved that weren’t so bad.
Getting annoyed that he was now receiving her undivided wrath he secured his grip and pinned blade to the ground until she calmed down whenever that might be, the occasional bite and claw mark adding to the long list of marks he had on his body, it would just be another set of scars he’d carry though for the moment he was perhaps bleeding a bit more than he might have been, but given time he’d heal just as he had done in the past, provided he got enough rest for it. While he waited for Blade to cool off, his head kept looking around the place had more occupants than he had originally suspected, though that seemed to matter little in the end anyone who might have been barely alive passed on without a noise, though if they were making a noise he couldn’t honestly tell with all the noise that blade was making, his eyes kept scanning around leery that that was all of them, eventually he grew tired of waiting and bent down and barked at her his growl deep as he picked the cat up in his arms who was still bent on tearing him apart for getting in the way and simply started walking away from the camp, once things settled down he would return and deal with the camp himself, perhaps something would give some insight on where they came in from and how long they’d been there, as well as determine if there were others that were in the area as well that had stayed back, with blade’s cat causing a ruckus there was no way of knowing for sure if that had been all of them so he’d note where in the forest it was and deal with the issue after he took care of Blade and her cat.
The Wolf continued walking through the forest so that he could get plenty of distance from the camp so that it would at least be intact when he looked it over, with the cat in his arms and struggling to get free of his grasp, and being reminded that he had an angry cat in his arms when another claw hit home and drew blood, by this point it was hard to tell what blood actually belonged to him or the poachers he’d killed since his fur was covered, though it was clear that perhaps he was bleeding more than he had thought as his sight started to blur, his steps becoming sporadic before he’d just simply let go of Blade and hit the ground hard whimpering as he struggled to get back up and collect the cat who’d run off the first chance it got and sighing as he struggled to keep moving, but finding that the strength just wasn’t there now, he needed to rest, his body needed to rest and simply stopped to catch his breath and recover his strength before he tried to continue, though without warning simply collapsed and lost consciousness, though it was a testament to the strength he had considering he’d gone a fair amount distance with cuts about his chest and arms, he was resilient but even he had his limits before he had to stop to heal, he just hoped that blade wouldn’t hold it against him for stopping her from wrecking the camp.
She heard him collapse behind her and Blade forced the shift, taking on her human form in a shift that actually left her gasping and hurting for the first time since her first one. She ran back to him and slid to her knees next to him, checking him over with a frown.
It didn't take her long to figure out that most of the problem had been her cat and she winced hard over it, reaching up to gently caress his face, "I told you I was bad news..." she whispered to him softly, hating the fact that she'd done this to him. She'd tried to warn him about getting involved with her...
As far as she was concerned, she was dangerous to get involved with. He and his wolf had been determined about it... Now this...
She whistled for the horses and got him onto one of the travois'. Along the way, she stacked their catch. One would get delivered to the kitchen, the other she'd get some help getting to her rooms.
Yes, she was ending the hunt early and it made her cat grumpier. But there was no help for it. She wasn't going to leave him like this...

Wolfe Garm
Bast was running through the trees, not bothering to look behind her as she moved with the agility that only a Hylarr could manage. Eventually, she neared a clearing and swung up into the trees, finding a perch in one where she could hide while she caught her breath.
For once, she wasn't running for the joy of it. She was being chased. She'd had someone tailing her for two days now and she was starting to wear down. She hadn't been able to rest for two entire days, had been running the entire time.
She could have gone to the castle and gotten protection there but she had a feeling that this one was actually after Sebastet. As a Hylarr, she had better reflexes, inborn weapons in her claws, enhanced senses, and natural feline grace. But unlike Sebastet, who was also a vampire; Bast only had the natural gifts of the Hylarr. While Sebastet was patterned after a white tiger, Bast was a black cougar and blended into the shadows easier.
It was just her luck that she happened to be the first feline-humanoid the male spotted and went after, so she was making sure that if she went down that it was as far from the castle as possible...
Desmond moved with a purpose as he tailed his target, he had a job to do and wasn’t about to let his prey get away. He’d been contracted by an unknown benefactor who’d requested his assistance or rather RRT’s assistance it just happened that he was available from a mission and they assigned him to the job, he wasn’t one to ask questions and simply followed orders as a good Dog of War should, though admittedly he was getting tired of it but so long as they held his leash he didn’t exactly have any room to talk about how they used him.
His sense of smell had keyed onto the target’s scent the moment he started chasing after her his eyes weren’t likely to miss his prey once they caught sight, his bow having an arrow notched ready to be let loose, he slowed his pace as the scent started to get stronger, he knew he was almost there and moved quietly but with a purpose his bow at the ready as he carefully moved forward his eyes scanning around him for any signs of movement or shadows that shouldn’t be there and proceeded with caution.
As he moved forward he stopped suddenly when the trail just seemingly stopped by a tree, he looked around an arrow already drawn back as he moved forward his senses aware that he’d caught up with his prey and the end was likely soon to come, before him a clearing he shifted closer to the edge and knelt down his eyes scanning the clearing for movement, and finding nothing there. The scent went cold at the tree he’d passed, which meant…
Stopping he quieted his breathing and simply listened to the area around him, he wasn’t about let his prey outsmart him. it was then that he caught breathing, faint but there, without hesitation he spun around his bow letting loose the arrow at where he’d heard the breathing, which flew up into a tree and impacting close to where Bast was taking cover.

Bast barely managed to dodge the arrow and fell out of the tree, though she did manage to catch one of the lower limbs and swung herself to the ground easier, starting to run again instantly. But it was becoming obvious that the chase was getting to her. She took off into the clearing, her tail keeping her balanced as she tore off through the grass. She was a beautiful sight to watch as she moved with the lithe grace of her feline heritage, especially with the sun hitting her dark fur.
That might have been a clue for him, though: His actual target was also a vampire and unable to handle sunlight...
Then again, he had been chasing Bast for two days now...
Halfway across the field, something hit the back of her legs and she tumbled, rolling a few feet until she slid to a painful stop with the breath knocked out of her. Her chartreuse eyes blinked a bit as she struggled to breathe again, then blinked again as he moved to stand over her with another arrow notched.
Would he figure it out? With the sunlight above them showing the silvered tips to her dark fur that allowed her to blend into dawn and dusk so well, the sunlight that gave Sebastet such bad burns...
Another moment and she was finally able to suck in a harsh breath then coughed a bit as her lungs started working again, clearly in pain from whatever he'd hit her with as well as the bad fall...
Desmond pulled the arrow back with intents to finish the job until he suddenly realized that something was off about the woman he had been chasing. Easing off on the bowstring and putting away the arrow for a moment he looked up in the sky to see that the sun was indeed out, looking back at the woman his eyes narrowed before he suddenly realized that she wasn’t actually the target “OHH!” dropping the bow he knelt down by her “I…” he was dumbfounded that he’d not only wasted two days chasing someone but he’d injured her in the process. Not exactly what he would call professional and perhaps a sign that he needed to find a way out. Finally his senses came to him and spoke up “my apologies if I caused you harm, my contract wasn’t very specific about certain things and you seemed to fit the bill when I first caught sight of you” scratching the back of his head, he helped her off the ground and noted that he’d done what he feared he hadn’t when he noted the injuries and decided that he’d redeem himself and grabbed his bow putting it away and picking her up “sorry but it’ll be easier to carry you, hang on” Desmond glanced around a moment and took off in a full stride his pace surprisingly graceful as he moved, his steps not making a sound as he moved, and reached the edge of the clearing and going into the forest out of the sun and gently put her down next to a tree. Kneeling down next to her he carefully checked her legs, since he knew how rough a blunt arrow was when he fired them off he only hoped he hadn’t broken a bone or he’d feel worse than he already was, as it was he felt embarrassed for going after the wrong person, not something he did, but then again it didn’t exactly help that he was given so little information about his mark, apart from what she roughly looked like, as well as her location, and her race. Intelligence had dropped the ball this time and he would likely hear about it later for not verifying the information given.
Grabbing his small pack, he pulled out a small medical kit as well as offered a canteen filled with water “here” was all he said. The way he’d hounded her had to think that she was fairly exhausted and dry, he’d look to her injuries and assist however he could, though likely he was going to need to do some hunting, two days of running would wear out anyone especially if they hadn’t eaten or drank anything in a while, and considering he’d been on her heels from the get go that didn’t give her much time for anything else, especially since he was usually prepared for the hunt a day before it began.

Wolfe Garm
Bast wasn't able to say anything at first, unable to react as he moved her from the clearing to the treeline. She leaned back against the tree as he looked over her legs, finally enabling her to feel where he'd hit her. The blunt arrow had managed to slice her open along the back of her right calf and she'd done something to her left shoulder when she'd tumbled.
"The contract is probably on my Guardian," she started then had to cough a bit as her throat protested speaking. She hesitated to take the water, but accepted it after he took a drink first. Even he'd have to admit that she was justified in being cautious...
"She runs the island, has created a Sanctuary here... Only the Church hires out on her price tag these days... They're still trying to wipe out all the Hylarr," she added and took another sip from the canteen.
Of course, finding out that his contract had made him violate a Sanctuary probably wouldn't sit well with him...
Or the fact that they were only a few hour's walk from the castle... She'd kept him going in circles for two full days, a sign of her skill in keeping him busy...
She hissed when he put some stuff on her cut that stung harshly and induced a round of swearing that probably would have gotten Lio to threatening to wash her mouth out... But it was justified in this case, she felt. That stuff stung like pure fire...
Desmond stopped what he was doing when she mentioned that his target was probably her guardian, or for that matter that he’d just attacked someone in a sanctuary. Sighing heavily he looked her concerned and equally frustrated “look I’m just a tool, I don’t know anything about a church being the originator of the contract, the facts are that I was assigned after an unknown benefactor provided my handlers with a job and paid in advance.” That probably wasn’t helping but he sat down on the ground and ran a hand along his face regretful that he had been ordered to attack someone on a sanctuary, he was sure he’d not hear the end of it from the others about this and wasn’t particularly looking forward to it.
Desmond wasn’t really sure what to do at this point, for whatever reason RRT thought it wise to attack a person here and he got stuck dealing with the mess as usual… sighing again he laid back on the ground and just moaned “Of all the times to have something go wrong this had to be when it would happen." Sitting up he stood up and pulled a rolled paper out of his pack as he dropped the pack on the ground and stepped close to the edge of the tree line and simply drew two arrows from his quiver, he didn’t have to guess which ones he had since they each one felt different, one a standard broad head, the other a special spark head which would ignite soon as he launched it and after a while explode, wrapping the paper up he made a call and would abort this mission silently, he was tired of being RRT’s lapdog and would play the long game with them until he could figure out how to get free of their grasp on his life. Pushing the arrow through the rolled paper and notched it and shot it up in the air, quickly notching the other arrow he took aim slowing his breathing as he focused on the trajectory of the arrow with the contract details on it and released the spark arrow at the moment he needed to, the spark head ignited immediately as it intercepted the contract as it was reaching its height before it would start to fall, a moment later the contract was incinerated as the spark head blew leaving no trace of his orders.
Looking behind him his expression was somber, not only did he just go against RRT, but he attacked an innocent which wasn’t what he had in mind when he took this job. Turning around he stepped back over to the girl and sat down again putting his bow on the ground next to him “I’m Desmond, sorry about what happened. If there’s any way I can make it up I’ll happily do what I can, my handlers aren’t expected to hear from me for a while so I doubt anyone’s going to come looking for me or to determine if the assignment has been fulfilled.” As he sat there Desmond noted that the girl was quite beautiful, he’d never heard of Hylarrs before this mission so he had to wonder what they were, though general impressions they seemed to be cats but outside of that he didn’t really have much to go on, though her speed was quite impressive, had he been a lesser man he might have lost her quickly which to him showed she was very capable which impressed him since few hunts ever lasted long when the target ran.
