Mgbamizu nodded, understanding. "That makes sense, plus if it happened yesterday if something living did make them, perhaps the scent would be aired out." The Aguu was not the best tracker, but he tried to put two and two together sometimes.

"Why don't you and I head that way? Nyarai and Afya, why don't you two go see what had those birds in a fuss?" The lion asked quietly two the pair of lionesses. If another was with Nyarai, then she would probably be safer. (Or, better yet, Mgbamizu wouldn't need to have to watch the female stumble around and cause injury to herself. He knew little about healing from his mother, but not enough to be well skilled in it.)

Kione gave a huff as he followed more or less towards the back of the search party. Yesterday had certainly been an exciting day, and while he normally wasn't one for participating in anything physical... he was more than a little curious to see what had happened with his own eyes. Not that he really cared either way, and he would deny it to his dying breathe later, but he did want to know what had happened. If only for reassurance that this place wasn't still a danger to be in. Better to investigate with others than come here on his own.

Not that this area was particularly safe to begin with, really. Whoever it was here, they certainly hadn't been smart to traverse this place.

He kept those thoughts to himself though, continuing his prowling towards the back. As everyone's gaze shifted to the falling boulder, he eyed that direction with a critical eye before opting to go a different direction. There were more than enough lions heading towards it, and frankly, he didn't want to be near something that could still be volatile.

Instead, Kione turned his attention to the birds that had fled in a hurry. No one was heading in that direction quite yet. Best to investigate it as well.

((Sent him in the direction of the birds, in case anyone is heading that way too.))

Zuko glanced up at the rocks he had jumped down from, wondering if there were more hidden behind other boulders or trees. He didn't want to go around dislodging them and causing more of a ruckus, though. As Mgbamizu spoke to the two lionesses Zuko padded across the exposed dirt before hopping back up onto a log, his tail twitching as he looked back at the marks. From the way they were positioned it looked like whoever it was had been moving...

"This way," he said, taking step after careful step over trees and rocks, moving slowly in the direction the marks had gone. He made sure to pause and sniff at each exposed area, looking for more clues.

Mgbamizu treaded carefully as he followed Zuko. He made sure to step where the darker male had stepped, not to disturb any of the loose rocks. He said nothing at first, his own nose to the ground trying to distinguish a scent that may help them out. Not finding any outright, the lion turned to his Agha companion.

"What do you think about all this? Uncanny, no? A rockslide, missing pride members, all after the Onyeisi is named." Fate could be cruel, but for the N-ezi it seemed to be overbearing on their life at the current state.

Mgbamizu paused when he felt a small rock shift, "oop" he gasped softly, finding his footing again before continuing forward.

Kemmasi had few relatives to check up on--Nkocha had been right there at the feast, after all, so he hadn't had to go searching at all. But he was concerned when it came out that both the head Amusu and an adolescent male were unaccounted for. It was certainly possible that Isiike was simply immersed in his work, the ancient priest seeming to prefer the bones to even his fellow death-priests at times. But it would be hasty to assume, and Kemmasi was not a hasty lion.

Carefully picking his way down the slope, he paused to eye both the marks and the unsettled birds. Large birds, in numbers, of the sort that tended to be attracted to these lands. Frowning, he padded after the others that seemed to also take interest in investigating the spooked avians.

The comment from the lighter lion made Zuko roll his eyes a bit. Surely there would be some who would use all this 'bad luck' as a sign that fate was displeased with the new Onyeisi, but he knew the rock slide would have happened regardless, the young male would have been punished whether or not the brothers had been attempting the trials, and life would turn on.

"I think it's a coincidence," he said evenly as he watched Mgbamizu pick his way over the rocks behind him. "An unfortunate one, certainly, but nothing more." As much as they respected and revered death the pride seemed awfully upset when it claimed their members. For Zuko, it was part of the journey and should anyone have died in this it would be a painful way to go, but they still would achieve the same future that they all hoped for.

"Watch it," he added as his companion sent another smaller rock tumbling down the hill. As much as he came off as distant and a bit cold, Zuko did care for his pride mates. A tumble now probably would end in nothing more than a lot of pain and he didn't care to see anyone groaning at the bottom of the slope.

Mgbamizu shook his head, continuing forward. "Coincidence...I sure hope you are right." The tone of the Aguu was obvious. He believed there was something else at play here. What it was, he wasn't sure. Once the pride started to calm down again, he would need to start rethinking things.

"I know, I got it," he grumbled. Why again was he out here? The sense of adventure and thrill the lion once had was beginning to wane, very quickly. '

"Maybe we should have gone to the birds. I wonder what is over there," Mgbamizu commented, thinking out loud.

Nyarai’s ears folded back as she heard the bolder fall down the slope and though she could see the irony in Zuko to be the one who triggered the event; her look was that of concern. At the same time, there was a small relief she felt in the fact it was not her causing the commotion this time.

Instead, she just smiled at the swampy maned lion's concern. “Mgbamizu I am fine, do you really think Afya would let me fall? Who would she have to boss about on hunts?” She chuckled, slowly making her way across the rocks to her friends, taking her usual place by her side. “Always.”The lioness smiled at her adoptive sister; they both knew full well that the pale lioness would not want to be anywhere else.

She nodded her head at the suggestion, the birds seemed like the best bet; in her opinion anyway. The land was full of scavengers, this she had learned through her experience as a lioness, it was always an idea to investigate what held their attention when scouting. “Leave it to us then.” She smiled at Mg’s before nudging Afya to hurry her along their way - they had their mission now and the two worked well together.

Then she was the pale male heading towards the birds as they were, Kione was joining them? That suited her just fine! “Kione, wait for us! We are coming too.”

Juu hadn't seen the young male for a bit and hoped he was alright. She had talked to him before, even if it was fleeting, so she felt a little more connected towards him at least. She valued everyone's life the same within the pride, not one life was more important than the other to her. Giving a small sigh she hoped the two that were missing were unharmed.

Urupuru lifted his head watching the small group break away towards the flocking birds. He decided to continue carefully down the slops, his paws splayed as he slipped in the shale that shifted as he went.

He glanced back up at the lions who were just a little higher up than him now. He wanted to get to get a closer look at the shift that the large boulder had left. His heart was pounding, he hoped that the dislodged boulder was night a bad sign.

Afya rolled her eyes a the 'boss' comment. While true, she wouldn't admit that she liked to take the lead on things. Afya was a lioness who loved to have a bit of control over the things in her life, and she had such an intense drive to do something that she was starting to get a reputation as a busy body. She could have sworn she had seen a few females avoid her a few days ago out of fear alone that Afya would drag them all out on another hunt. The dark lioness was just too... motivated. Very few could tolerate her antics the way that Nyarai could. Then again, few could also tolerate Nyarai's antics. Perhaps it was for the best they got along.

"I'll let you fall if you insinuate I'm bossy again," Afya teased her friend, though it was a little hard to discern that from the furrowed brows and her disapproving looks.

Afya could agree to the course of action. There was no point in all of them heading in the same direction. There were enough of them here to form small groups, and cover more ground that way. While she wasn't thrilled by the prospect of inspecting some scavengers, their path could lead to some revelations about the rock slide. That, and there would be less bodies to bump Nyarai off a cliff accidentally. "We'll meet back up with you guys later," she told Mgbamizu, and then turned to follow Nyarai on the diverging path.

Another pale male had joined them, or rather, they had joined him. Afya fell into line behind Nyarai then. While she liked to lead, she still suspected Nyarai to trip over her own tail and go tumbling down the side of the cliff. Her paranoia would just not allow her to take the lead on this occasion. "Hello, Kione," she greeted the lion with a little nod of her head.

Nyarai possessed enough excitement for the both of them.

Kione huffed as his paw slipped just a bit, but he caught himself before he could fall. He hated things like this, things where he had to actually move around and be coordinated. He's never been very good at them... not that he would ever admit to that. He was a perfectly able-bodied male, thank you very much!

The voice calling out to him over all of the hustle and bustle made him cringe, though thankfully his back was to her, so he doubted she would have seen it. Then again, she probably wouldn't have cared anyway. She was normally rather insistent about him going and doing things.

Turning around, he withheld a groan at the sight of the black lioness with her. Great, if there was a lioness more motivated than Nyarai, it was Afya. They'd caught up to him by this point though, so there was no escaping them now.

"Hello," was his only response back. Instead, he turned his attention back to the birds, head tilting in curiosity. "I wonder what spooked them so badly." They were huge too, now that he thought about it.

UPDATE

Somewhere a little ways ahead of you, you hear a noise from the brush. It sounds too small to be a lion or other large predator. Its movement shifts the ground. You hear tumbling of loose rocks, then a creaking of a tree. Then some branches breaking...

The group of lions following the trail have a short amount of time to react before a broad tree topples to the ground. Rocks and other debris settle around it. It'll be almost impossible to go around the blockage. The brush is too thick. And it'll be dangerous to climb over it. At least, until some of it is cleared away.

To all those following the skidded trail:
  • Some of the rubble must be moved before you continue forward. You must stop rolling 100-sided die until it is cleared.
  • To clear the rubble, roll a 12-sided die, adding the previous rolls of those helping in your endeavor. Once the sum reaches 50, the rubble will be cleared and you can continue on your way.
  • This can include anyone joining in whose lion would be following this path!

UPDATE

As you continue along the trail that leads to where the birds were seen, things to be going smoothly. Everything seems still. The ground seems solid. That is, until it isn't. It seems the rockslide moved some dirt that settled over some plant matter, conveniently covering a bit of a pit fall. Watch out!

    To those following the birds:
  • Everyone else must stop rolling until the person who rolled this number rolls a 10-sided dice.
      If you roll a:
    • 1-5: You fell into the pit! You're not hurt, but you're going to need some help out. All others on your path must stop what you're doing to help get you out in whatever way they can. All those following the birds will instead roll a 6-sided dice (including those joining in and following this path). Once all numbers 1-6 have been rolled at least once, you're free!.
    • 6-10: You managed to evade the pitfall. Good work! You all may continue on your way.

  • (If for some reason the person who rolled the number does not reply in 36-hours, it can be assumed that the pitfall was avoided)

Zuko surveyed the land from where he stood, trying to figure out the best way to go. He didn't notice any noises until the large tree in front of them was falling and he quickly jumped aside to avoid being crushed. As the debris settled he lifted his head, looking up at the blockade in their path. Great.

"What was that?" he asked, looking this way and that to try to spot whatever had sent the tree tumbling. He lifted a paw to push some of the branches out of the way, trying to clear a bit of a path.
