Shadows flickered on the walls of the caves he chose to reside in during some of the search. He'd scolded himself about staying after the discovery of the abandoned ceremonial site, but had been far to curious to leave. When another shadow flickered out of the corner of his eye he just couldn't convince himself it was nothing anymore. The lion, who'd been in enough battle to not frighten easily had grown a great dislike of the dark.

Soon his paws left the cool rock surface of the caves and met with the warmth of the sand beneath his toes. Free from the burden of having to peek over his shoulder he was able to look around a little more. The feeling of being free from the looming shadows was almost overwhelming to the point of becoming gleeful. The glee wasn't meant to last though and even as he began to feel something related to ease he spied something out of the corner of his eye.

Approaching cautiously towards what he thought might have been a fresh kill he noticed something was a touch off. As he grew closer he noted the way the sands had changed. The almost golden yellow of the sand had changed to a soft pink and soon a strong red. The sands were drenched in the blood of the victim he could now see in full. The way the pelt appeared and ear lay still he knew the body to be of lion origin. Unfortunately there wasn't much left to determine who the lion might have been - the body, or what was left, had been mauled to the point of rendering the individual unknown.

"Figures." Iloziya mumbled to himself. Death was no stranger, though he didn't welcome it as a house guest. So the body itself hadn't triggered many emotions beyond 'well s**t'. Perhaps it wasn't healthy, but he couldn't help the feeling of dread that trumped disgust. If he had been asked at that point he'd have gone as far as to say he was actually a tad hungry. "I wonder if anyone else has found anything." The time for being alone was quickly coming to a close, he would seek a buddy soon.

"I wondered what happened here." Zjarri hadn't been ignorant to the situations going on surrounding them. There were several disruptions away from their small group, but she figured it would likely have been best to continue their search for information.

Information didn't seem to be the groups strong suit though. "The blood trail runs cold." Bjorn muttered to his daughter whose pink eyes had flashed about at the scene. The smell however had continued on. "That smell won't be forgotten anytime soon." Zjarri muttered to her nearly constant companion. "Oh, believe me. You do." The lioness herself had smelled enough of decay, blood, and death to know that it didn't last (or at least most times).

"Where could it possibly be coming from?" She wrinkled her nose and chose to ignore the crimson lioness' comment. She knew the lioness didn't become fazed in most situations like this, but perhaps she'd finally react 'normally' if they found something. The blue lioness was beginning to think that perhaps the smell was simply all over and not as easily definable because of that. It could easily be a problem.

"What do you think, Pops?"

The pet name that Sabia was growing fond of made the fur on the back of the bulky lions back prickle. He'd told her once that he wasn't fond of the way it sounded and she'd found even more joy in calling him it ever since. He visibly shuddered and closed his eyes, one could almost see him counting down from ten before he chose to respond. All the while Sabia wore a wicked grin. "I'm not sure, Sabia." He responded as kindly as he could, but was biting his tongue.

Bodies were one thing, recent sites were an entirely different matter. Tethys's reaction was muted at first, the lion choosing to observe the bird for a short while as he processed the information. Then, as he finally registered the significance of the find his face fell. This place had been silent, all but deserted the first time they had come here and he had thought that the attack upon him and Iloziya during one of their captain's excursions had been because he had been followed... it seemed that this may not have been the case.

Uttering a single curse under his breath, the white lion finally gave a nod towards the avian messenger and mentally prepared himself for what he was about to inspect. It was Lawsonia however, who honed on to the much more significant piece of information than just a 'recent' site.

"What do you mean there's no body?" the black lion asked in confusion and raised his brow. "There should be a body," he pointed out. If there was one thing they had all learned while they were out here, it was that the individuals they chased didn't necessarily keep anything for the sake of memories. The victims were left where they had been slain, as was 'proper', or at least that was what they had all been told. So why was there no body?

"Oh gods," Tethys murmured and closed his eyes briefly. "Show me," he said finally to Branderyn and waved with his paw to tell the bird to lead the way. He did however glance towards Lawsonia with a grim expression.

"Make sure no one is out there alone, and I mean nobody," he ordered. "I don't think this place is as deserted as it might have been the last time..."

Lawsonia gave a nod and with that in mind, he bounded off towards the rest of the warbands to at least pass on that piece of information...

No one was to fight or explore alone!

If any of them want to spot Tethys or Lawsonia moving!

"You have learned so little, if you believe we move through this world as a single entity," Metis replied to Svana with a touch of amusement. Perhaps Tethys simply hadn't briefed his allies enough, perhaps he hadn't told them the truth of what they faced. In a way, this worked to Metis's advantage, but it was a curious tactical oversight if that was the case. Alternatively, the stubborn 'children' could very well have been exhibiting extraordinary naivety and this was best corrected through further instruction.

"Although..." he chuckled softly at the thought. "Perhaps you are not entirely inaccurate - though we are many, we are one," he agreed. "Is the pure one more insightful, and has she realised that, or does she truly think she faces one creature?" he paused. "Or perhaps you do battle just one being..."

He seemed to have adopted a speech pattern that was deliberately contradictory, whether he always spoke like that remained to be seen. For now they he continued to observe the rather courageous lionesses as they attempted to locate him; the only one with any measure of sense was Zili. That one would have done well at home, that one knew his place.

"We are as one, so it would be correct to assume we battle as one too," he settled on this musing and raised a brow from his vantage point. "How curious that you are so distracted by us though, when there is something of much more significance nearby though," he added. It wasn't clear what he was referring to at this particular moment in time, whether it was the strange blood spatters against the leaves (nowhere near a site), the stirrings of the white Captain further behind them, or the musings of the others within the band. Suffice it to say that there were plenty of possibilities, and yet they were all distracted by... Him.

Metis.

This world was a strange one.

"What do you hope to achieve in finding us I wonder," he said finally. "Perhaps you should be more mindful of your wary compatriot," he added, red eyes settling on Zili. "That one knows the truth." he stated. "He cries out, and yet you are all so blind..."

"Courage, selflessness, arrogance..."

"Qualities of this world possessed by many - qualities that blind them to the obvious."

"Such a shame..."

Perhaps his nose had blocked out the scents at first, or perhaps he had just grown used to them. Regardless of which Iloziya inhaled deeply and very nearly gagged. A smell, which matched the corpse not a few feet away, had stung at his flared nostrils and caused his nose to wrinkle uncontrollably. Death. The smell was very distinct, but unsurprising.. considering. He exhaled as quickly as he had inhaled in hopes that he could relieve some of the pains, but it did nothing to help his recovery.

Inhaling again meant he received another wave of the decay, but he had no choice. The only choice he did have in the matter was leaving to regroup with Tethys. Report what he had seen and discover if there had been any other reports to him. The likelihood was that there were a number of other discoveries, primarily surrounding fresh evidence - or at least that was his hopes. This area left a sour taste in his mouth, but it was the memories that hit him periodically that truly inflicted a sense of pain.

He hadn't even made his way towards the pale lion, his Captain, when he noted a bird reporting to him. The bird was easily recognizable as another Captains companion. Iloziya couldn't manage to place the name, but figured the news was something that needed to travel quickly if he'd sent his feathered friend. Still he couldn't imagine what that news would be. So he continued his path towards Tethys and thought lightly on the subject, not entirely pressed for time.

The smell had never faded for the trio. Instead they were granted waves of soft, followed by, strong smells of death. It was as though the area had been drenched in the disgusting scent. "What are we doing here Zjarri?" Finally, the crimson lioness, had decided enough was enough and desired to know more. This was likely one of the first times the lioness had actually questioned Zjarri - to her surprise. "That's my business." The blue lioness snarled. The reaction was entirely out of character for her and it got Sabia to back down simply due to being baffled. Even her Father stared in wide eyed response to the snarl.

"Hmph." Sabia finally retorted with a mild toned sound. She was cleared unhappy with the secrets, but figured Zjarri would tell her eventually - it usually happened. This time it just wasn't happening quickly enough for her. "Fine. Don't tell us." She sassed the lioness back a small amount to which she received a glare and a turned back before the Captain began to move again - her company in tow.

"I've never smelled so much decay in one place."

It was Bjorn that spoke up. The silence had been broken by his nearly mumbled thought. Zjarri betrayed a glance in his direction which was rewarded with an awkward grin. The ties between them hadn't been fully restored, but he truly had been trying to amend them. Silence surrounded the group of them, but only after Zjarri gave a firm nod to his mumbled thought. She hadn't experienced something along these lines before. Heck she wasn't sure if her Father had even done so, but clearly he figured he had some kind of experience that could apply. Curiosity pricked Zjarri, but she decided she could address that at another time.

Instead a commotion stole her attentions. "What's going on over there?" She queried with a raised brow. Her paw was raised to take another step, but her late decision caused her to change the direction she had been originally headed. Commotion was a strong word, the commotion was simply a sudden movement from the pale Captain she was working alongside. Knowing Tethys as she did she was sure he'd not have reacted if it was something small. So she decided to lead her small group towards him and his dark companion, Lawsonia. She even spied Iloziya off in the distance.

Rahman was not entirely interested in vikings, but what he was interested in Tethys's plea. More lions to search the pirate lands, which peaked his interest and got him to scrounge up the lioness that took to his fancy and saddled her up for the adventure. He was one of those lions that was looking for something that the shinies couldn't buy. While others took to the hoarding of furs and material things, he took up to warming himself by being the stone for an unnatural, desperate and crazy lioness he had met. Fighting til she couldn't anymore. Building others up, and he found he had a knack for it, but it was something different. The warm feeling he had when he spoke to this lioness about the pirates. Her home lands! The excitement in her eyes, the tears that were begging her to drop. Not knowing what came over him... But making her happy felt strange, and exciting.

"Yea, Well we're heading out not. Com'n, I assume you know the way~"

Giving her a wink, as he lead her to the bulk of those whom were following Tethys but he had to admit, it beat having him as a leader than his own father. Uninterested in the lion whom left them, and found them- and oh and behold, so many unwanted brothers and sisters he couldn't trust as far as he could tolerate them.

Gaea's eyes began to water. She was to go home, how long had it been? Years now she supposed and it felt like an eternity.

"Avrae!" Rahman called to her. Her feet had already taken her so far, she knew the way, hell she could do it with walking only on her hind legs, and blindfolded!

"Sorry~" Her smile was sincere, but she hadn't smiled like that in so long. She really missed the motherland, the smell of fermented fruit and parties as far as the eye could see. She loved her home, and she missed it so much. When the sand got softer, she became more excited, and was about to wonder off again and the sight was a sore one, watching the second in command of her old pride go to his caverns. The only thing she thought of was going in to her own, maybe finding her mother- or her brother.

"Can we go and look through the caverns?"

Rahman of course agreed, and let her lead them in to her caves. It was something different, watching her as if she were floating on the lands... Til. She wasn't.

"Avrae!!! What's wrong?" She had stopped dead in her tracks from having run all the way to her family's treasure cave, and oh and behold... a body of a fallen lion.

"No...NO!" Quickly running up to the body, having left Rahman in the dust of where she ran before jumping over the dead one. Checking his face, lifting it up and tears began to roll down her cheeks. She recgonized the lion it seemed and Rahman was now at a loss for words.

"Av, I.. I think we should tell the team..." His ears went low as he stepped in something, when he looked to the floor, the grass and sand was tainted in blood everywhere. It must have been some brawl and the fact that it wasn't entirely dry or entirely wet, meant that the fight was more recent than he felt comfortable. "Av-"

Her forehead was against the dead lion's forehead for the longest.. then, as if she had an epiphany or a really bad idea, she turned, growled and ran in to the caverns.

"AV WAIT!" Looking around and growling. "SHI~T. Damn.. Go back~ Got back Rahman~ Tell the others.. OH CRAP. AV! WAIT!" Running in to the caverns after her.

Samous was elated to have his niece running about near him once more. He thought his family dead so long ago after seeing the deserted pirate lands some years ago. Finding his way to the vikings was the best day of his life, seeing Gaea and all her glory. Teaching her to be rough while still being a pirate in viking clothing. There was family, and fought over security and although the pirates and vikings had such fueds, they really did seem much alike in many ways. It seemed like home. But even more so, when he heard the once right hand lion of the pirate commander of the pride, he accepted without a second thought.

Although he tried to warn them of the death that he had seen then but years ago, their bodies were in rigamortis. Those bodies now, should be bones and left overs of the hyenas by now, the ones he hadn't buried already. Not expecting much except memories to return, he walked along side his once crew mate. Natuna trotted along quite gleefully.

"When we came back, most o' everyone were bein' gone, so we gathered up our crew and left. Yea be knowin'? I wish ye would have joined us sooner Cap'n Black Sam. We really did comely wench yea matey. I'm glad yer back and we're back home. And swab the deck! Walk the plank! Even if its just a visit and some memories. "

"Oh I were bein' missin' ye too and me niece! Fire the cannons! But beware, home isn't what we remembered it. Splice the mainbrace! I came back before th' vikin's~ and th' place were bein'... smelt o' th' poxed but I've been buried those I saw. Hopefully we can see if th' homeland went t' rest. Come on, let's keep up with everyone. "
'
As soon as they came in to the lands, he saw Gaea run off with that lion that she had been hanging around since he saw her again. He was taking care of her, and that was fine, but still, he was responsible for her...He wanted to make sure that she was in good paws but apparently with how gleeful she was, but she had to have known that they were mostly gone.

When they began to get closer to the center, where most of the meetings had taken place, the smell of dead hit Sam's nose causing him to immediately lower his head.

"Oh god! It smells o' death and algee. Worst than any fermented fruit has e'er! "

Coming up to the clearing he didn't see anything but Tuna went in and started to sniff out the plague to his nose.

"We don't only got our brothern dead it seems.. "
Pulling out a body...
"You know them?"

Samous came over, inspected, then shook his head. "Better be tellin' th' others.Well boil some crabs' Another one here too~ Eatin' the spoils rats'..." Checking out the rest of the bush and found another body. Unidentified as well, no one he knew of the pride and he nearly knew everybody! "Co'on" Turning back and began coming up through a spot in the scattered forest and saw another. "Iloziya!" Recgonizing the lion.

Tuna turned to him. "Aye! We should't keep it down captain- Wait- How do you know so many of the vikings~ I still ca't rememb the names~"

"Good ol' noggin'" Pointing at his head. "Iloziya~" Coming up to the lion. "Found two dead over that way." Pointing to where they had walked from and the main meeting courtiers but none that he would consider pirate.

Xochipepe listened to the voice with head tilted, ears turned so far forwards that it was clear her attention ahad been utterly gripped - even when the voice seemed to be warning them that they were looking in the wrong places. He had her full attention and only when he mentioned Zili, did her focus break and she turned to look at her companion and friend. The dark lion had taken a step back, shaking his head in response to the silent question in her eyes. They did not have to share words for him to know what she was thinking.
He could see it there as clear as day.

"We must not--"

"What? Ignore this?"

"He's baiting us. This is all a trick. This is bigger than us."

"This is what we came here for. He's trying to put us off the scent." And, with that, she threw a glance at the two pale Stormborn and moved confidently on, allowing the shadows to drape over her shoulders and almost swallow her completely.

Panic reared in Zili and it took him a few moments to pull his feet free of the ground and follow after her. This was foolishness. Dangerous. He felt sick but what else could he do? He couldn't let her go alone. Life was meaningless without her.

"Xochi!" he hissed, trying to call her back to his side, "what are you--" he almost rammed into her, pulling himself up short just before doing so.

"Another one," she whispered and he peered over her shoulder to see another bloodied corpse.

"We can't defeat the ones who did this," Zili replied. Or, at least, he knew he couldn't."

"Oh really?" she curled a lip, "I think we have more than enough power to bring them down."

Lawsonia had always been a bit of a stutter when it came to supplying important news, particularly when those he respected were just a touch unsettled. So, it really should have come at no surprise that as he approached Zjarr and her small group, his expression was a touch strained. Fortunately, he did have the capacity to look at some things positively and given that Tethys seemed to have issued his orders quickly it was highly likely they would be safe... or that was the hope.

"Hi," Lawsonia didn't even bother with the pleasantries as he regarded the trio of lions. Instead he simply gave a wave of his paw to quickly regather his thoughts and cleared his throat. "Would you be so kinda as to issue orders to all of your band to stick together, please?" he asked. He'd always been polite and he knew better than to make demands even when he was simply echoing the words of another captain. "It seems like we have visitors and based on previous encounters, we shouldn't be wandering off alone," he pointed out.

There was a very minor pause.

"...And try not to play hero," he added. "That might end poorly as well."

Ctrl F Greenie

It had started off as a quick stride towards the caverns themselves, and then his gait had quickened. He had forgotten that there were some who simply didn't know what they were facing, and in some ways, he realised it would have been in his best interests to tell them. Hindsight was 20/20 as they said, and on this occasion he was feeling the brunt of that now - maybe if they had been warned this would have been less of a shock for them... but at the same time, maybe if they had also known far more of them would have tried to play the hero.

The body count might very well have been higher.

Tethys had managed to cover ample distance in a short time, slipping in to the caves on the directions of the avian, though he would need further instructions on where to go to meet with the captain. However, in the mean time while he waited for the assistance of the avian to guideh im towards what they had found, he glanced round in alarm at the strangled cry of one of the newest vikings. From what he had understood she was a former pirate and this would have ben her home.

...So to find it like this.

He grimaced, hopefully her companion (he had noted she wasn't alone), would pursue her in time and guide her back outside to recover. She at the very least would be given an explanation. In fact, all the former pirates would be given one, it was the least they deserved for what had occurred on their home soil... It might not have happened while the pride was still present but this was still their land and it had been desecrated.

"Watch your paws!" he called down the cave, knowing full well that his voice would carry within the network of tunnels...

"They know so little, do they not?" Metis spoke as the shadows enveloped them, allowing them to join his world. While Zili might have blended in fantastically well, all four of the lions would be blessed by the fact that it was still early in the day and the sun still split through the canopies. For this afternoon there was no true 'darkness', for all intents and purposes it should have been impossible for the damned lion to hide and yet...here he was. Evidently Destati hadn't been lying to the black lion when he informed them of their rather unique abilities.

"They have such confidence in their ability to fight something that they cannot see," Metis tilted his head to the side as he watched them walk by and pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Tell me, do your kind often battle the ethereal?" he asked at last, rising to his paws and slipping silently away, though it was a movement that was not without purpose.

...Soon they would learn that this entity did everything with purpose.

"One would doubt your success," he continued. "The one who leads you now discovered this truth as his band and beloved Captain were massacred," he raised a brow and shook his head. "How curious that he did not tell you all that you face," he murmured.

"No matter -"

He deliberately snapped several loose twigs beneath his paw and continued on his way, moving ever deeper into the forest.

"It can all be used to our advantage," he murmured, and snapped another several twigs, continuing in this fashion for a while as though he was wandering down an path in which only he could see. "You will see this in the end."

Zili felt another shiver run down his spine at Metis's words. He hated to admit it but the unseen monster was likely right. He had seen the aftermath of one of their previous attacks, heard the stories from Destati. Did Tethys know what they were dealing with? Would he truly put them all at risk if he believed they could not beat them? He did not want to doubt the son of Destati and yet...they were here, were they not? Perhaps it was simply that Tethys did not know. After all, he was Stormborn and the majority of them were...

Well, they liked to think themselves invincible, perhaps.

Tethys was smart but perhaps he was too proud? Or maybe the monster was simply lying to them.

And yet somehow, Zili doubted that.

"A Captain's job is not to share their worries and anxieties with their followers," Xochipepe insisted with a growl, "who would follow a leader that quivered at the thought of a bloody battle?" Her head swung around at the snap of a twig and she leapt, stirring up nothing but a flurry of leaves and...and a foul odour that had her recoiling in horror.

"Xochi..." Zili whispered hurriedly, "we must get back to Tethys."

"You can run back to Tethys," she snarled, "I will hunt this b*****d down,"
and with that she was moving off in the direction of the snapping twigs and the shadows closed around her like jaws.

This could not be happening.

"You've met our captain before, then?" he asked, both curious and also hoping to provide a distraction.

"There is a significant difference between following a leader into a battle that one can win, regardless of how bloody it might be," Metis replied. Evidently he wasn't concerned about Xochi's outburst, or her determination to pursue him. After all, he was deliberately leading her towards where he wanted her to go - why was it that those of this land were so easy to play with? Even in their homeland, the young knew better than to move towards something unusual when they were alone or potentially out numbered.

"And one that is bloody and ultimately doomed to failure," the lion continued. "One is worthy of respect, the other is considered foolish - if defeat is inevitable then why place yourself deliberately in its path?" he queried. There was a murmuring of thought as he pondered over the reasons that there might be for lions of this land to enter in to such a pact, and he soon concluded that there wasn't really a reason.

...Particularly these lions, they didn't exhibit any religious fervour.

"We have never met your captain, merely watched him," he eventually chose to respond to the only lion within the group who seemed to have any ounce of intelligence. Zili's survival instincts were good, even if the lioness's left much to be desired; perhaps in time Zili would become forceful enough to make her listen but for now? Well unfortunately, it seemed that it was Zili who would be led.

"But we are aware of his father, we know each other very well," Metis flicked a stone towards one of the tree trunks near Zili's paw and continued on his way, ever deeper into the undergrowth. "He knows better than to fight in the dark..."

It was then, that it would have become obvious that the sun was struggling to reach the group, only occasionally breaking through the thickening canopy as the wind brushed against the leaves overhead.

"You don't know that," Xochi insisted, lip curled irritation, "you don't know us. What we're capable of. We have no intention of failing. Especially not to the likes of you."

Zili visibly flinched away from her words, though he continued to follow dutifully -
head down, eyes flicking from side to side as if expecting a dark shape to come leaping out at him from the darkness. A darkness that was growing thicker and thicker...

His heart was pounding now, though he desperately tried to keep a mask of calm worn across his fear. He wasn't even sure what to say in response to the fact that this mystery character knew of Destati. The fact that he still lived meant that neitherhad been able to kill each other and if Dedstati had not managed it, they sure as hell wouldn't.

"We need to regroup," Zili started to say just as Xochi veered suddenly off to the side.

"Blood!" she hissed, crashing through the undergrowth with little regard to the noise she was making.

"Xochi, will you just listen."

"It stops here," she continued, clearly not listening.

Anger rose suddenly in Zili. An anger born of fear, yes, but also from her total disregard of the dangerous situation she was putting herself in. She could fight, sure, but she would stand no chance against a phantom, day or night. He shoved himself up alongside her and gave her a firm shove with his shoulder, turning to meet her gaze with narrowed eyes. "What are you doing?" he hissed.

She blinked at him for a moment, almost dazed, then cast a look around.
Understanding, perhaps, crept into her eyes.

"If you have been watching our captain, then you know he is strong and capable." she said at last, still sounding defiant, but perhaps a touch more cautious.

"We have been watching your Captain," Metis replied smoothly and released a small sigh. It wasn't one of exasperation so much as acceptance, he had learned a great deal in such a short space of time. The living in these parts were so open and as a result, completely without defences. They were so busy blustering that they often missed the most significant of issues, some of which he would bless them with. After all, it was the least he could do...

"For example, we are aware that not long ago your Captain entered the caverns in which they found a site of great interest," He continued and came to a halt. "There he will find something that only he has seen before," he paused briefly and then gave a shake of his head. "No, that only he and your companion has seen before," he amended. Yes, he knew that Zili had encountered their sites, though they weren't necessarily fresh he would know what they entailed.

"We are aware that from where he is, he cannot see or hear you," he added softly and raised a brow. "Can you even remember the route in which you took to reach this point?" he enquired curiously. "Have you been aware of that which exists around you, what exists, who exists?" he paused briefly and released a small, rumbling chuckle.

"So focused on our voice, so determined to bring us to justice, that you have walked passed something of great value," he paused once more and waited, sure enough, the faintest sound of weeping could be heard somewhere nearby. Weak, and laboured, but very much there.

"We wonder if you can find it before time runs out," he finished gently.

The pair listened quietly as Metis spoke. Zili was a statue, still and unblinking, perhaps hoping this was all some terrible dream he would wake from. Xochi, on the other hand, looked as if she were scrambling to come up with a plan as it began to dawn on her that perhaps she had been just a little bit hasty in coming here.

Zili wanted to deny all knowledge. Pretend he did not know the things that he did. The knowledge had brought him no comfort at all. He yearned, some days,
for the ignorance that had been stripped from him.

And then the faint sobbing...

"What have you done? You b*****d!?" Xochi snarled, whirling in what she thought was the direction of the cries. Zili scrambled to stop her but, once again, the female had been too quick - running off in yet another unknown direction. Getting them further away from the group. The isolation was terrifying enough alone and here they were walking into a trap. Could there be any comfort in knowing that they would die together? Could he summon the courage to blurt a confession of love to her with his last breath? He lifted his head, giving a short roar in hopes to summon anyone nearby, then leapt after Xochi, refusing to let her out of his sight in case they never found each other again.

The scent of death was here now, strong and infuriating. Xochi had staggered to another halt, turning her head this way and that to try and pinpoint the location of the - presumed - wounded. Scent trails would do them no good with the stench that had pervaded the area.
