I sat buy it just to spite her. Or, you know, drop the ban hammer because you don't need that kind of negativity in your life. Okay, banning might be a tad bit extreme, but you should totally buy it out of spite...

My common sense says that so long as you can afford it, in addition to bills and the like, and if your spouse doesn't mind then it should be fine.

Scientifically, people get more happiness spending their money on things to do than on things to own. You should spend that money on a comicon, star trek play, or something like that.

Imma go with no. As much as I like Star Trek, I had a lot of those magazine/model collection subscriptions when I was a kid and they were often pretty disappointing.
