"Well that was anticlimactic....good work Jekyll" Argyle said rather frankly. It was good though that he'd finished the battle quickly. It meant they were already done with this nonsense and could move forward before something bigger came along. Better yet it meant he could move toward being that much closer to being out of this heat. He was not gonna miss being on a Volcano. Who sent a twelve year old to an active volcano anyway?

Placing his hands close to his face Jekyll would play a raspberry trumpet in the direction of the Darumaka. Punk talked big but she couldn't back it up! To add insult to injury the Croagunk would then take two rocks and a stick, placing them atop the mud covered Fire-type and making a small 'grave'. After which he'd bound off a couple rocks and resume his usual seat on Argyle's shoulder. Cause walking was for chumps.

Bio:The story of how Argyle met Jekyll is a bit of an odd one. After purchasing a bulk shipment of skin rejuvenating mud from Sinnoh's Great Marsh (Guarnteed to take twenty years off your appearance!), Mistress Rosevelt had set aside some time for a fully immersive experience with the product, during which she received quite the surprise. It would seem the mud had come with stowaway in the form of an egg. Unfortunately it was about this same time the egg decided to hatch, splattering the aristocratic woman with muck and eggshell. After a shriek and shrill cry for the nearest Argyle to attend her, Verde arrived and was immediately ordered to dispose of the creature, although not before cleaning up the mess it had created. Whispering a snide remark just below his breath, both Mistress and Argyle were in for a surprise when the newly born Croagunk began to snicker devilishly. It seemed the Poison-type had heard the boy, and shared his sense of humor. Amused by this fact the young Butler then went about the task of convincing Mistress Rosevelt that the Croagunk would be quite useful in his regular duties, allowing him to make the manor to "shine as radiantly as you do Mistress Rosevelt". Little more in the way of convincing was required on the boy's part, and so he obtained his first and for the time being only Pokemon.

Since then Jekyll has proven a good match for Argyle, frequently snickering at the boy's comments be they made aloud, or simply implied. Unlike Argyle however Jekyll does nothing to hide his wicked nature, frequently mocking others quite openly and then laughing about it. Though cruel he is not crude, and more than willingly to amuse himself by catching the enemy off guard.

Apparently, not everyone was having a bad time in the volcanic part of the island. A small Magby burbled in a rapidly-cooling stream of lava, frolicking cheerfully over the plasma. See? There's something here for everyone to enjoy! If you can stand on magma. It clearly wasn't paying attention to the boy and his snarky partner.

Walking down the trail, minding their own business, Argyle would be struck with a surprising thought as he watched the Magby play amidst the lava. Acting on this thought the youth would take a sizable pebble from the side of the path, toss it into the air once to test it's weight, and then chuck it with all his might at the Magby.

We're not going to get any strong avoiding fights.

Hit! No damage!

The Magby squeaked as the rock smacked him right in the head. He rolled over the magma, finally getting to his feet. >What was that about?< he asked curiously, looking them both over. >You wanna fight?< He started grinning cheerfully. >All right! Le'ts fight, fight, fight!< With that, he leapt over the magma at the Croagunk, tail glinting. He was using Iron Tail, and it seemed they were equally matched in speed!

Argyle would actually wince slightly. Would seem that while his aim was good he needed to work on the strength oh his throw. Didn't even manage to briefly daze the Magby, just annoy it. Still a fight was what he wanted and it would seem that is exactly what he was about to get! "No time to dawdle Jekyll, move in with Mud-slap!" Argyle directed, raising his arm in what initially appeared to be a dramatic gesture....

...Until Jekyll began racing down the limb at full speed. A grin on his purple face the Croagunk would grab a clump of dirt on the fly, shoving it into his mouth and then spitting it back out. Swinging his arm the Poison-type would then attempt to strike the Magby across the face mid-air! ">Guess we'll save the banter for later me ole mucker!<"

]((18-16)+(9-7)) x 2 = 8 DMG! Magby is at 6 HP!

The Mud-Slap knocked the Magby right out of the air, knocking him to the ground. He rolled as he landed, but he didn't seem that upset. Indeed, he was laughing cheerfully. >Nice hit!< he said pleasantly, shaking his head clear of the dirt. >Keep it up, and I might be scared!< Despite having taken the first hit, he still seemed pretty cocky. He rose to his feet, wiggling his still-glittering tail. >Let's go!< The Magby yelped, bouncing forward to try the Iron Tail.

Stopped in his tracks for a moment, Jekyll would make a face like none other. There was something wrong with this Magby. Seriously wrong. Something so wrong he had but one response to it. ">He's weird!<" The Croagunk cried as he turned on his feel and darted off, arms flailing as he attempted to zip behind the nearest large wrong. Nope nope nope. Too cheery. He was out. Full retreat!.....at least till he found an opening.

Argyle would meanwhile watch in silence, arms crossed over his chest as he arched a brow curiously. Well....this was certainly a thing that was happen.

(18-15)+(8-8 ) = 3 DMG! Jekyll is at is at 13 HP!

It seemed the booty bump was successful! Not as much as the Magby would have liked, but still! He laughed brightly, slapping his tail against the ground. >Wow, you're strong!< he said, eyes alight with admiration. >Keep going, keep going!< The Magby bounded away cheerfully, waggling his little tail as he did. Seemed like nothing could dampen these spirits.

For this one Jekyll needed no prompting. Creating another clump of mud through the usual method he'd rolled it into a ball, wind up, and toss it like a major league pitcher. Hopefully the ole 'spit ball' would be on target.

Jekyll missed!

>You're too slow~< the Magby taunted, as he'd easily dodged the mud ball. >C'mon, c'mon! Is this really how you fight?< He gave an exaggerated pout, before laughing once again. Even being under half health wasn't enough to damp this fire-type's spirit. >My turn!< Once again, he'd cheerfully swing his Iron Tail, ready to jiggle his way through the Croagunk's defense.

It was then that the Magby would learn the true extent of Jekyll's wrath. He was a sneaky, underhanded no-good-nick; and damn proud of it! The Croagunk had made it look like he'd only formed one clump of mud, but in fact as he was winding up for the pitch he'd split the balls into two, concealing the other in the palm of his other hand. Now that the Magby was coming at him he'd swing that arm forward as if he were gonna clothes line the Fire-type, declaring proudly ">Here'd mud in yer eye!<" It was a Mud-slap counter-attack!

((15-3)+(9-7)) = 14 * 2 = 28 DMG! Magby is at -22 HP! First kill!

And what mud in the eye it was! The spitball would actually crash into the Magby's throat, sending him finally backwards. He'd been taking a deep breath to start bantering again, but this, unfortunately, merely resulted in him inhaling the mud. >HAAL- URK!< The little fire-type flailed on the ground, choking and panting desperating. But it would be over all too quick, and eventually, his little limbs would stop moving. Blank eyes stared up at the sky in deadened horror. Jekyll had won... at great cost to his obnoxious little opponent.

Jekyll recieves 37 EXP!

Looking at his fallen foe curiously, Jekyll would make a slow approach. Wiping away some of the muck tentatively he'd take a better look at the Magby before saying with great despair ">Aw, I ruptured his itty bitty spleen!<" It was no fun bantering with a corpse! Oh sure he could kick it but that wasn't exactly amusing.....well, ok there was that one time but those were special circumstances.

Drawn by the Croagunk's lurking over their former adversary, Argyle would come to take a look of his own. So it would seem they'd killed it. Blood was now forever on their joined hands. With this tragic thing in mind Argyle would wander off to the side, picking a suitably large rock....and using it to slowly push the Magby into the nearby lava. He'd only used a rock because he worried a stock might ignite. "The world is a cruel place. Lets try not to be on the receiving end if we can" The boy said, kneeling down so that Jekyll would have an easier time at reaching his shoulder. True killing the creature hadn't been strictly necessary, and had he not started this conflict it'd still be alive, but this had literally no effect on why he was here or what he needed to do so why dwell on it?

Seeing his trainer push the body into the 'river', Jekyll would give the fallen Magby a sharp salute before following up with a far less appropriate raspberry trumpet. When he was done he'd jump onto Argyle's shoulder to resume his usual perch. ">See you in hell!<" He called out. At least he assumed that's where dead Magby went. They'd probably find it quite comfortable!

So it would be that Argyle's adventure on the Island of New Beginnings would continue. What awaited the young man, find out next time on....I mean stay tuned!

You'd think that after spending an entire battle so close to molten rock, walking away from it would make Argyle feel a little cooler by comparison. You'd think wrong. The boy want practically panting as he walked up the volcano trail, his hair a disheveled mess from scratching or readjusting it due to sweat. He hated this mission, he hated this island, and in particular he hated this volcano. There was little doubt he'd get over the other two once he was farther in, but that last one was staying close to his heart. If he had to walk back to the boat he was finding another route. He didn't care if he needed to take the long way back. Screw volcanoes.
