Despite having so many weapons and a animal companion to back you up, If your going to ignore your comrads battle plan, at least scream your name very loudly before dashing into battle, so they know you just ran in.

Giving adventurers useless pieces of equipment is a sure fire way to have them not do any quests you may have for them
