Cain finally took the book back and replaced it on the shelf then moved back to the fireplace to refill his mug with the last of the mulled wine and turned to lean his back against the mantle as he took a sip of the warm drink, enjoying the warmth spreading through him in the process as he tilted his head at her slightly, "I've always found it interesting how so many people, not just humans understand, who seek out to destroy what they don't understand and therefore fear," he commented with a wry twist of his expressive mouth before taking another sip.
He finally gave a soft sigh and gave her his full focus, "So now that I've finished trying to distract us, what shall we do now? I could tell you about any number of things and distract us again but I'm not sure that would be a healthy thing to do. As it is, though, I'm simply not sure what to do at the moment," he confessed to her softly, letting her see just how unsure he was as his hand holding his mug shook slightly before he steadied it again by taking another drink.

Cain watched her as she approached him, knowing the moment she understood his problem by the expressions on her face and had to give her a bemused smile. But her solution was perfectly reasonable and he told her so.
"A perfectly reasonable solution, Roseabel. I wish I'd thought of it myself," he told her softly then set his mug on the mantle behind him without looking and reached a hand out to slide it around her hip and pull her in closer to him slowly.
He wasn't deliberately drawing this out, just enjoying the sensations he was experiencing. The feeling of cloth moving over skin as his hand moved over her hip, the slight give and tightening of muscle as he pulled her towards him, the full sensation of her body meeting his as he slid his other hand over her hip, the look in her eyes when each movement happened.
He'd had no idea that he was such a sensualist but it was probably about time that part of his vampiric nature came online. Even the scent of her skin was enticing to him. Admittedly, it wasn't surprising that he could hear the beat of her heart or the movement of her blood through her system, but it didn't make his blood hunger rise. Instead it made something else rise to attention which surprised the hell out of him and drew a soft gasp of startlement from him.

When she ended the kiss, Cain felt strangely deprived. Then she made that whispered word that was more of a sound and grinned at him, making him grin right back at her, glad he had the mantle to lean back against.
"Wow about covers it," he said softly, "You taste like spun sugar," he confessed then felt himself blush for saying it without thinking. For once, his brain had checked out. But as he looked at her, he couldn't help but notice just how beautiful she truly was. The hair that currently surrounded his hand at the back of her head was like pure silk and the body that was pressed against his right now only made him want to explore more of it.
"I don't want to let you go," he said with a small frown at the realization, making him hold her more firmly against him with the hand at her back. He didn't want to lose the sensations he was feeling right now. He wanted to feel even more of them, wanted to explore even more of her. But beyond the kiss, he wasn't sure what to do next...

Rose didn't want to let go either, she had never meet someone who could make her feel that way with a kiss. The floor was still rocking slightly beneath her feet though, and the dull edge of fatigue was beginning to set in, even though she had taken a nap earlier. So she let herself melt into his, embrace.
Should she take a step with Cain that she's never taken, with anyone before? A great deal jumped to YES at the very thought. But her sense of logic was returning, and it reminded her just how long they had known each other. It also hinted that she could stick around this castle for as long as she felt like. She didn't have a set death date, neither did he. It might be best to savor every moment they had together slowly. There would be other nights, other days, and the beautiful man who was holding her like he never wanted to let go, would hopefully understand this.
"Cain... As much I would adore to stay here until sunset, I don't want to move that fast, or go that far. Not yet. That and I'm sadly not a succumbi who can gather energy from a kiss, and I'm tired. " Rose lightly kissed him on the nose again. "I'll see you tomorrow though, alright?" She wasn't quite sure how exactly his relationships had worked in the past, but she had the feeling they started and ended rather quickly. Not a trend she would care to be part of.

Cain listened to her intently, smiling again when she kissed his nose. But he had to admit that she was right. They should go slowly with this. It wouldn't do right by either of them to move things too fast and would certainly batter his honor if he hurt her in any way.
He gave her a slow nod, "You're right again. And you show more wisdom than I am at the moment. So I'll let you go for how and see you tomorrow night, as you said. As much as I'd like to offer you the use of my spare room, that would certainly be too much temptation to resist," he told her softly.
He pulled her in for another kiss, but kept it softer and gentler, more of a tender promise, then let her go. He made sure she was steady on her feet before escorting her to his door and opening it for her, his eyes on her as she stepped through it, "Good day to you Roseabel," he whispered to her softly then closed the door before he gave into the temptation to kiss her again.
His door closed, he gave a bewildered look to his sitting room as if seeing it for the first time. He stayed there for another moment then took himself to his bedroom where he changed into a nightshirt and crawled beneath his sheets with one hand behind his head as he stared at the ceiling in bemused silence, finding it an interesting experience that his body was aching for a woman instead of a man for the first time in his long memory...

Rose practically floated down the corridor. Things were turning out in ways she had only hoped. With the realization she would likely be here for a very extended period of time, she was going to have to set up a lab at some point, and get back into the habit of practicing every evening. Then there would be mirrors to check, notes and diagrams to take out of storage... All things she could deal with later, except the mirrors. Mirrors should be now. .. Actually mirrors could wait too.
Once back in her room, Rose shrugged on an old cotton t-shirt and a pair of penguin boxers. Nothing could beat the comfort of boxers. After brushing her teeth, and brushing her hair, she tumbled into bed. After trying to fall asleep and failing, she noticed that her blinds were slightly open still. Rose flicked her finger, not really expecting anything to happen it never did unless she was focusing with all of her mind, and the blinds closed. Mildly surprised, but happier because that meant she was ever so slightly getting better, Rose fell sleep, and dreamed of butterflies.

Rose stumbled out of bed a bit earlier than she intended, perhaps that nap did do something. Rose slowly de-tangled her hair, and then braided it back with a french braid. Rose peeked out of her window, it was still going to be awhile until sunset was through. That meant she had time to dress up a bit for Cain. Just thinking about him, She felt an odd pang of loneliness, then remembered that she was going to be able to see him directly after breakfast. In a considerably better mood after that thought, Rose began to examine the contents of her closet.
Finally, she found the one thing in a garment bag. It had originally been the bodice of a gown, but after the skirts were ruined, she had it converted into a bustier. It was made of pale pink, almost white silk, and had black piping. After lacing herself into her loosest corset, Rose wriggled into it. Then came slim black slacks, and a pair of sandals. Rose went to her mirror to make sure her bustier wasn't on the verge of falling off, and made a small frown of disappointment. Rose had forgotten about all of her scars on her back, and the bustier didn't do much to cover them. Oh well. He was probably going to see them sooner or later anyway.
Rose was about to leave for the library when a knock came on her door. Rose found a servant bearing an invitation to breakfast from Cain. After taking the servant, she cheerfully walked to Cain's quarters, today was going to be another good day.
After checking for one last time that her clothes weren't about to malfunction, and smoothing back her braid, Rose softly knocked on his door.

Rosabel Marcellus
Rose felt elated the instant she saw him. Cain seemed happy to see her as well; actually he looked nearly stupefied with happiness. Rose smiled and blushed at his continued grin. Cain was utterly adorable. At some point his brain must have started working again, because he let her pass and into his front room. Still he said nothing. Rose quickly thought of something that could make the rest of his brain kick into gear again. Before she did anything, she “Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing, and it’s highly unlikely I’ll faint this time.”
Rose drew her knife with her right hand and slashed it across her left palm. Rose’s forehead wrinkled with both concentration and in slight pain. Once her blood had swelled to the point when it should have started dripping on the floor, the drops instead began to float upward, they flattened and curled upon themselves until they had been molded into the shape she wanted it to be in. The left over blood remaining around the cut then darkened and solidified, sealing the wound. Her fingers touched the floating blood lightly, and a cracking noise was audible as the blood hardened, and turned black. The now solid iron shape dropped into her left hand, and she extended it towards Cain with a smile. “Have a rose.”
