She had been sitting in the tree for several minutes when Maya heard an owl overhead, of course she still hadn't gotten the idea of an owl wrapped around her head. Birds were a new concept to Maya, then again, pretty much everything on the surface was a new concept to the drow.
Still, her ears picked up the soft sounds of another hooting, and soon she heard the faint whisper of the owl's wings back in the air. Easily, her vision switch to infrared, the woman spotting several animals nearby, their body heat giving them away in the brush and trees, including the owl and...an elf in hiding nearby...So they were watching for someone like her.
A small smile rose to Maya's lips at the thought of the Elves using one of their surface animals to watch out for her kind. Soon she would see if they could, or if she would remain out of their sight and free to observe their village for the night.

The owl's hoots reported seeing a blur. Fedelius hooted back and began to howl. He knew Drow had somehow had unbelievable night vision and they probably spotted him by now. He remained still though, in case he alerted any Drow that he knew that they were there.
A little ways off a small pack of wolves pricked their ears. A kin had called on them. Having pack mentality, the moved at once, stalking around the spot the Drow woman might be. It was what was asked of them by the high elves. When one elf called, they answered.
Soon they had flanking positions around Maya and stalked her close to the ground. The leader padded up to her and challenged her with a growl, head high in superiority and tail back. The beast radiated the essence of nobility. Fidelius smiled.

Impressive... Maya thought to herself before lowering the cowl of her cloak, her snow white hair now shining in the moonlight. With one swift move, Maya dropped to the ground, landing on her feet with ease.
Now that she was in the middle of the wolves, facing the leader, Maya looked at him evenly. She crossed her arms over her chest, a symbol of friendship among the Drow. Though she wasn't sure how the creature would take her actions.
Either way, she remained still, her scimitars hanging comfortably at her hips as she stared back at the leader.

Fid could chuckle at the simplicity of this. The Drow bared her back to him. He sneaked out of the tree and, with weapons drawn, began to creep up behind her. Strange thing was, she never attacked the pack. She instead gave a strange salute to the wolf leader. The male shook his head. Growling, He sent the wolves away.
"You know, your a strange animal." He stood tall, chin up and chest out, he would not show fear, even though he didn't really want to fight. "Any one of your kin would have slaughtered the wolves. Even the leader knew that. He was willing to protect the pack. So tell me. Why didn't you slaughter them?"
He eyed her carefully. She was...elegant, graceful. He couldn't help focus on her form. Even the gleam of the moon against her hair added to that grace, Silently cursing himself, he tried to pull away from those thoughts. He hated the grace of elves and Drow. Too entrancing. It showed the similarities between the two races.

She heard Fid coming even while she was focused on the wolves, but Maya decided to let him come. After the wolves left, she let her hands fall to her sides, now slowly turning to face the Elf that had addressed her.
"I saw no point in it. I saw a proud leader before me, so I attempted to make peace instead. I know you think my people evil, and most are, but some of us are merely curious..." She answered in a calm tone, making no moves towards her scimitars.
"For instance...I'm curious why you didn't strike me down the moment I revealed myself. Your race rightfully holds a deep hate for mine...so why wouldn't you take your chance to slay me where I stand while I was distracted?" She asked, cocking her head slightly as she now crossed her arms over her chest again.

Fid shook his head. Even he didn't know why he didn't attack her. He scowled at her. "Because I think the fighting is just a stupid feud between goddesses." He placed a hand on the hilt of his scimitar. "And I never attack an enemy with their back turned."
His features were sharp, strong. He held little love for the being in front of him. Her kind killed for fun. She confused him though. She was...calm? How could a being who faces danger be so cocky? That just annoyed him worse.

A light smile traced Maya's lips as she looked at him. She was irritating him somehow. "As far as I know, your goddess has no issue with ours, other than the fact that our goddess is having us kill your kind." Maya told him.
She observed him carefully, but she couldn't make much of a decision on him yet. He was handsome, though he looked different from a normal Elf. "It's obvious you have a problem with me, why don't you just strike me down?" She asked, a finger tracing her chin as she looked at him.

Fid scowled and looked away. "Because your female." That simple fact could kill him, but he was chivalrous. Yea, females were high among the Drow and trained as warriors, but his teachings had women protected. He shook his head and turned to leave. "You have one chance to leave. Try and kill me and I chop your hands off." Blunt, yet hopefully effective. He kept his attention on her as he stepped away.

That was the problem. Her gender. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she remained there. "Be warned, your gender is no more than permission for us to use you as we see fit. Males mean nothing except breeding purposes, so my kin would not think twice about killing you, or using you for fun." She said, her voice sounding cold. "So do not offer my kind the same type of courtesy, because you will not receive it." Maya told him, turning her back towards him, taking a few steps towards the mountains.
However, Maya stopped, looking back at him over her shoulder. "By the way, I've received those threats since birth if I did not preform the tasks I was ordered to...so next time come up with something I'll fear. For instance, my mother threatens to sacrifice me to our dark goddess if I disobey her. Either way...at least make it interesting." She told him before disappearing into the darkness, heading back towards the caves for the evening. She still had family obligations of course.
